Tommy sat on the couch and told the Louds his entire story.
"So let me get this straight," Lynn summarized. "You came from the Bay Area and live with your mom, dad and older brother. Then one day, you decided to run away from them, so you took that robot with you and headed out and then ended up here and followed Lincoln to our house?"
Tommy nodded.
"Wow, that's a lot to take in. What made you think that was a good idea?"
"I…..I got into trouble for something I didn't do. See I was blamed multiple times for wrecking the house. The first few times didn't bother me much, but then the last straw came when my mom found her prized possession completely destroyed. Then as punishment, they grounded me and took away RobotBoy. That was the worst experience of my life."
"I know how you feel," Lincoln said empathetically. "I once took the blame when Lucy clogged the toilet with her comic. I got grounded for a long time and was not allowed to go to my favorite comic book convention."
Luna rolled her eyes. "Bro, we've apologized to you for that about a thousand times."
"A thousand, five hundred and one times to be exact," Lisa stated.
Lincoln rolled his eyes. "Anyway, everyone gets in trouble for one mistake once in a while, and some even get grounded for it. But it's not too big a deal."
"It's not that," Tommy continued. "I tried telling them that it wasn't my fault, but they wouldn't listen to me. And even when they did hear me, they thought I was just lying to avoid getting grounded. And yet they decided to believe my maniac brother, Donnie."
"Donnie?" Lily babbled.
"He always treated me like a punching bag. He would always pick on me and my friends and called me names like a 'butt-monkey' and a 'fart-knocker'. He even takes my stuff and doesn't give it back. It all became too much for me, then I snapped. And….."
"That's how you wound up here," Lucy finished.
"I went as far away as I could," Tommy added. "And I'm never going back!"
"Oh smart," Lynn said. "Real smart kid. You had a roof over your head, three short meals a day, a warm bed. Who'd wanna leave that?"
"I hate to admit it, Tommy," Lincoln said. "But Lynn's right. You never know what you miss until you don't have it."
"Plus, from what you said, your life can't be that bad," said Luan.
"You guys don't know my brother Donnie," Tommy argued. "He may seem innocent, but underneath, he's a jerk! A big jerk!"
Lana scoffed. "Aw come on. I bet they're frantically looking for you."
"Yeah, that's right," Lincoln agreed. "Your parents are probably crying their eyes out for you right this minute."
And they were practically right,
Back at the Bay Area, Mr and Mrs Turnbull were at the home of African Ambassador Mbola.
Both the Turnbull parents were sitting on the couch talking with the ambassador.
Debbie was the one in most despair. "Oh my poor little Tommy! You have to help us find him, ambassador! Please!"
"Now don't worry, Mrs Turnbull," Amb. Mbola assured. "We'll find the little boy, I promise you. I'll form a search and rescue committee right away. We shall find him in no time."
"Oh I sure hope so. I just don't know what I'll do without him!"
Meanwhile upstairs, a young girl was listening to the whole conversation. The girl had dark skin and blue eyes, with black hair tied in two odango buns. She wore a sky blue dress with a white belt and white gogo boots. This was the ambassador's daughter (and Tommy's good friend) Lola Mbola.
"Tommy's missing? He's gone!?"
Lola (M) was quite shocked. At that moment, she immediately dashed to her room.
But unbeknownst to her, what appeared to be a caterpillar was watching her from behind a potted plant.
In reality, the caterpillar was actually a spy drone that was sending a secret video towards Kamikazi island.
There, Kamikazi himself was watching the whole thing on the monitor.
"Hahaha!" He laughed. "You hear that, Constantine?"
"Hear what, boss?"
"Tommy Turnbull is out of the Bay Area. This is perfect! Now is our chance to capture RobotBoy once and for all!"
"But boss-!"
"Well what are we waiting here for? Constantine! To the Turnbull household!" Kamikazi got out of his chair and made a dash.
"Boss—! Oh why bother?"
Constantine, reluctantly, followed behind.
Inside her room, Lola (M) was pacing around back and forth, with her cat Princess lying on the bed.
"I don't understand, Princess. How can Tommy just disappear without explaining himself? He could be lost or hurt out there! Oh, what should I do?"
Her cat gave the simplest response a cat could give. "Meow."
"You're right! I gotta go find him and bring him home!" But then she realized something. "Oh, but he could be anywhere. I can't do it alone. I'm gonna need some help."
Moments after, Lola (M) began knocking on someone's door.
But this door wasn't just any house. This one was of Amish descent.
Once it opened, out stepped none other than Tommy's other friend, Gus.
"Well, look who it is," he said. "What brings you here?"
"Gus, has Tommy been here?" She asked in an annoyed tone.
"No. At least not today anyway. Say, mind if I offer you a frozen yogurt. I could throw in two dry toppings or one wet topping."
"This is serious! Tommy's disappeared! I need to find him!"
"Oh, I'm sure he's fine. Is that a new haircut?"
"No! My hair's been like this for years! Now where's Tommy?"
"How the heck should I know?"
"Are you just being sarcastic with me or are you really that stupid?"
"Is that a compliment?"
By this time, Lola (M) was getting very impatient. "Gus! Have you seen Tommy or not?!"
"Okay! Jeez! No need to be pushy. Look, I haven't seen Tommy all day. In fact, last I saw him was a few days ago last week. Said he was upset about his psycho brother (not that I blame him) and that's it."
"Well did he say anything about running away? Or where he was going?"
"Hey, I just hang with him. I don't ask questions."
Lola (M) facepalmed herself. "Ugh! I don't have time for this. Look Gus, as much as I may kick myself to say this, I need you to help me find Tommy."
Gus was taken aback at that comment. "Care to run that by me again?"
"I said……I need your….help." The last part Lola (M) said was through gritted teeth.
"One more time, please. And try to enunciate more clearly."
Lola (M) gulped with disgust. "I need your help."
"That's what I thought you said."
"Yeah, whatever. So will you do it?"
"Well I was in the middle of my routine chores, but what the heck? I accept."
"Then come on!"
Lola (M) grabbed Gus by the arm and pulled him away immediately.
The two were back at the Mbola house.
Lola (M) began pacing around her room again. "Okay. Gotta think. Where could Tommy possibly be? And how are we going to find him?"
Gus wasn't exactly being of much help. "If I could make a suggestion, why don't we just check Upchucky's Cheese-O-Rama?"
"You know he's not a fan of that place, dummy. He gets irritated by the animatronics and the screaming kids everywhere. Remember last time we went?"
"Oh yeah. I forgot how much of a drag he was that time. He didn't have to be such a party pooper to RobotBoy."
That gave Lola (M) an idea. "Gus! That's it! Tommy must've taken RobotBoy along with him."
"Ah…….so?"
"So, if I could track onto RobotBoy's homing chip, that might lead us to Tommy!"
"Well if you can figure that out, then why do you need me?"
Lola (M) slapped her forehead. "I keep asking myself that, but I don't know why."
She then began typing RobotBoy's homing code on the computer. It took a few minutes, but the location was found.
Where it was found though was what puzzled her most. "That's weird. RobotBoy's nowhere in the Bay Area. They're not even in the state!"
"Okay, Little Miss Smarty Pants. Where are they?" Asked Gus.
Lola (M) groaned, but went back to the screen. "It says he's in a place called Royal Woods, Michigan. That's nearly on the other side of the country!" She then grabbed her backpack and started filling it up with supplies. "We've got to go find him! He might be hurt! It might be cold up north. I better bring a coat."
Gus just continued to sit on the floor. "Hold on. Don't tell me we're actually going to Michiga-call-it."
"If that's where Tommy is, then that's where we're going. Now get off your lazy bum and let's get a move on."
"Alright! Sheesh!" Gus got up and started packing his own bag, filling it with snacks (mainly junk food). "You know, if we're going to be gone for that long, we're gonna need plenty of food. Yep, only the essentials. Let's see, potato chips, cheese puffs, pork rinds and sodas." He then pulled out a portrait of all four of them. "And, eh……what about this picture? I don't know. I think I'm making a weird face in it."
"No time for that now, Gus! We gotta go!"
Lola (M) pulled him by the arm and carried him away.
Moments later, the two were now down in her father's garage, filled with hundreds of huge vehicles, and not just ones for the road.
Lola (M) approached one in particular. It was a gigantic, cobalt blue jet, which was big enough for a small group of people.
"Remind me what we're doing here," said Gus.
Lola (M) slapped her forehead. "I told you, Gus! We're going to use this to go find Tommy! Daddy's supersonic mini jet has a built in radar system that can track down RobotBoy. We find that, and we find Tommy too."
"I see. Kinda."
Lola (M) opened the hatch door and stepped inside. "Alright Gus. Get in the plane."
But Gus just stood still. "Oh, in this plane? Right here? Is it time already?"
"Get in the plane, Gus!"
"Oh yeah, absolutely."
Gus got in as Lola (M) started up the engine. "Okay, now to type in RobotBoy's homing code, and…….."
The radar screen immediately pinpointed the location of Royal Woods.
"Got it! Alright! Here we go!"
The seatbelts fastened the kids automatically, with Lola (M) in the driver seat.
The garage hatch began to open as the jet engines fired up.
And WHOOOOSH!!!!!
The jet took off into the sky and flew off.
That's all for now
Now we all knew this was coming and at this point, I'm sure readers are going to be confused by the fact that there are two Lolas in this story. So to make things more clear, I'll be having their names be distinguished by their last initials (i.e. Lola Loud will be Lola (L) and Lola Mbola will be Lola (M)) whenever they're both in the same scene. Please note, though, that this does not mean that the last initials will be said by the characters themselves. Hope that clears things up.
However, that is not the sole reason I decided to make this story. Because, let's be frank, the fact that there may be characters with similar names between two different shows is practically inevitable.
No, the big reason is because I wanted to explore Tommy's internal/emotional struggles. See, for those who may or may not have watched RobotBoy and haven't already guessed already, you can already imagine the suffering Tommy goes through due to the abuse of his older brother (among other problems), yet he still turned out to be a good kid. Well, that got me thinking; what if he's emotionally suffering on the inside? Because I know for a fact that living with an abusive lifestyle (even if minor) can really damage a person's mental/emotional health. Seeing as how that wasn't too emphasized in the show, I decided to give this kid more of a focus and really explore his character development.
But, more of that will be covered later.
Until then, so long everybody!
