The gems were shocked at what they saw, but nobody remembered what actually happened, not even Rose. A long time ago, something truly unexpected happened. Once upon a time, the ruthless, unmerciful, and evil Black Opal abducted Steven and the gems. Black Opal was a powerful gem, who was not happy with Homeworld's new orders so she decided to destroy the cause of them: The Crystal Gems. She had the powers to erase minds, change physical forms and thoughts, and even destinies. Before the gems could even take any actions, Black Opal poofed them all. "Now this will be easy... ROSE!" said Black Opal, who was ripping out Steven's gem. He was in too deep of a sleep to notice. A pink all-gem Steven emerged from the gem, but before he could say a word, Black Opal said, "Don't hide, Rose," and before he knew it, Gem Steven turned into Rose Quartz. Black Opal poofed Roseand erased their minds, then left.
Now, let's move on to the present... "I don't know what to do without Lapis! I could've saved her! I'm such a clod!" said Peridot, as she cried. "You're not the clod, Peri. Rose is." said Amethyst. "It's all my fault that Rose even lied in the first place! If it weren't for me, Lapis and Garnet would still be here!" said Pearl. "Listen up, gems. We are strong, and we can get Garnet and Lapis back. We are the Crystal Gems, and we will never give up, even if it takes a thousand years!" said Bismuth. "But without your mother's gem, how can we bring Ruby and Sapphire back to how they were, Steven?" asked Greg. "I don't know what to do! This would be the moment when we would need to ask Garnet!" said Steven, "Maybe the diamonds could help!" said Peridot.
"They might, but Charoite seemed like a strong gem. They looked as if not even the diamonds could defeat them!" said Pearl. "But what if we did a fusion... consisting of the diamonds, Spinel, and all of us crystal gems?" said Amethyst. "You must be out of your mind, Amethyst! Do you really think that the diamonds would fuse?" said Pearl. "I don't! I'm just trying to be the group's temporary Garnet, because she always has the right answers!" said Amethyst. "Let's just talk to the diamonds first, they might have some useful advice." said Pearl. "Wait!" said Peridot. "What?" said Amethyst. "Remember how we healed Steven? It wasn't with his gem that we uncorrupted him; it was with our love for him!" said Peridot.
"I think you're on to something, Peridot!" said Bismuth."Let's uncorruptthem with love!" said Pearl. So, they set off to the corn field behind Steven's house.
They searched the field for hours, but then found Ruby and Sapphire. The gems looked at them and fused. "Garnet! We love you!" said Pearl. "I don't know what we could ever do without you!" said Amethyst. "Garnet, if there was one biggest quality about me, it would be my love for you!" said Steven. Garnet uncorrupted, and said, "Thank you, everybody." Everyone hugged Garnet, feeling relieved that she was okay.
