I'm sorry it took me so loooooong to write the last chapter. But I think I finally found a way to finish this story. Happy new year everyone. I hope everyone has an awesome 2025.

And as usual I'm starting the year with updating all of my multi-chapter stories.

For this final chapter we move years forward, into the world of girl meets world.

Cory POV

I worked from home that day that day that something within Auggie had changed.

When there was something else in him other than a bug, a temperature or a cold…

Five year old Auggie was sitting right in front of me. I had brought work with me home, his throat was hurting too much to eat the chicken noodle soup Topanga had made. But he should have been able to suck on and eat the one popsicle of oreo ice cream he had been given. In fact he had looked like he was about to fall asleep and drop the ice cream where he sat by the kitchen table.

"Okay Auggie." At last I put my pencil down and stood up. I just couldn't keep watching him. "You're going back to bed. I'll put that ice cream back in the freezer. You can have it when you feel better."

Or when you're even awake…

"Ugh."

I decided to do as I promised, put the ice cream in the freezer for the next meal…

But then, just as I turned my back towards my son it was like something changed. I would have expected him to just fall asleep by the table. And why wouldn't he? He was five years old and had the flu. My poor daddy- heart was aching for him…

Then, as soon as I came from the kitchen and was meaning to carry him to my and Topanga's bed (where I could more easily keep an eye on him rather than in his room) I found him shaking, with his eyes rolled back into his head. This was something far worse.

"Auggie…" I rushed over to him in nothing more than a couple of steps, then carefully slipped my arm around his back. And moved until I held him close towards my shoulder. This would be softer than the floor at least. "It's okay Auggie. Dad's here."

And dad didn't have a clue about what to do next.

Suddenly it passed me by how I had found Shawn, passed by outside his house when I could see him shaking and then brought him to my mum.

And then it passed, while I felt his fever- warm forehead, burning up the seizure I had had at school. While I hadn't even had the energy to think of anything near emberrasing. Only grateful that my mum was there.

Why couldn't she be here right now? Why was she so far away? Why had we moved?

"Oh my God, Auggie!"

All of a sudden my daughter and wife were standing in the doorway. And were left only stopping, freezing in their positions and staring.

"Topanga." I tried to talk, but I couldn't hide the shiver in my voice. "Get my phone. Call my mum, she'll know what to do. And Riley… Go to your room… anywhere else as long as you don't just stand there and stare."

I could feel bad for that annoyed tone later on… At least both of my girls did as I told while I held Auggie who was still shaking towards my chest.

I could always hope mum still knew first aid for this, and hadn't forgotten it all like I did…

Random fact

I really could have written this chapter, where Auggie is more like Cory than Shawn. And with that this whole story months ago. Instead I'm here now. And I'm starting year 2025 with finishing a story- happy new year and gott nytt år everybody.
