Compared to Twig Walk, the route wasn't as large but there was a small dock. The water had a few swimmers and trainers surfing on their Pokémon. Brendan was there on the grass, alone and fiddling with his PokéDex. By now, the trio had returned all of their Pokémon to their balls for the time being.

"Let me guess, data not found." May snarked as Brendan looked up at them.

[Cues: Pokémon ORAS Soundtrack – Brendan]

"Yes. I expected you sooner, what happened?" Brendan asked. "I hope you didn't run into any trouble."

"Not really. I caught a Poochyena. But what's wrong?" May asked kindly.

"It's this Pokémon I recently caught." Brendan said sending out a Lillipup. "There's no data on it in the PokéDex."

"Because it's not in the local Hoenn dex, it's an Unovan Pokémon." Crimson explained showing him the entry from his Dex. "Here, this should help."

"Interesting. This phenomenon is something to look into. Have you experienced this before?" Brendan asked.

"Oh yeah, outside region Pokémon have popped out in Kanto. Migration patterns and of course…I've seen breeders wound up releasing some of their 'failed' attempts of breeding a shiny or ones with the right nature. Most of them end up in a sanctuary made by the rich folk doing it…" Crimson casually remarked.

Brendan took note of that before turning to May.

"But I'm glad to hear you made progress…but I think it's time I put that to the test. So, I challenge you to a battle, right here and now." Brendan said confidently.

"Hold it." Crimson said getting in between. "I can't let you do that…at least without letting you use this."

Brendan was loaned Crimson's TM case.

"I figured it'd only be fair to offer this up for you to use. All reuseable too." Crimson said as Brendan took it up.

"Quite a collection of them. If you offering to me, then May's already gotten into them." Brendan said before accepting.

With a few new moves on his Pokémon, he returned the case to Crimson as the rivals got ready for battle.

"Buster, go for it!" May said as Buster let out some barks.

"Landon, be ready for battle!" Brendan said as his Mudkip stretched.

"All right, let the battle begin!" Crimson said dramatically before putting his case away.

"Landon, Ice Ball!" Brendan said as Landon opens his mouth and creates a ball of ice.

"Match that energy with Shadow Ball!" May said as Buster spewed out balls of inky blackness.

Both zipped to and forth which had their trainers stepping back ensure they did not get hit. One Ice Ball went flying towards Crimson and Amelia only for Crimson to slice it in two with a chop of his hand and punt a Shadow Ball into the air with a kick.

"Good shot, master." Amelia praised.

"T'was nothing. These Pokémon are still guppies." Crimson said. "So, it's not too much to handle."

"I'm not getting anywhere, and I'll run out of chances to fire back at him. Unless..." May thought before having an idea and yelling, "Buster, stop firing. And use Iron Tail to bat it back!"

Buster jumped into the air towards the incoming Ice Ball that was far bigger than the first one before using his now metallic tail to return it to sender.

"Damn, that was too cold!" Landon said with a shiver.

He tried to get away, but part of it had still hit him.

"Use Scald to warm yourself up!" Brendan said as Landon began to emit steam and spew boiling hot water.

"Payback." May confidently said.

What she did not expect was Buster tanked the attack as his body glowed black as his eyes glowed red. He leapt out from the stream of water, slamming into Landon and taking his first win.

"Good jo-"

WHUP!

Buster stood proud for a whopping two seconds before fainting from the burn. Both trainers returned their Pokémon to send out their final ones in Torchic and Lillipup.

"Quick Attack / Aerial Ace!"

With streaking light trails behind, both Pokémon rushed at each other blitzing the other in a clash before skidding to a stop. Kaori fell down but was forcing her up.

"Game's over, chickadee."

"Raquel, finish it off with Thunder Fang!" Brendan said as electricity surged in her fangs.

"No…it's not. Not by a long shot!" Kaori said as her little body emitted steam and smoke. "I feel it…the heat within. May, it's now or never!"

"Kaori, give it your best Flamethrower." May said as Kaori whipped her head back.

Her eyes went red before she unleased a huge torrent of flames from her mouth that consumed Raquel and forced Brendan to dive for cover. What she left in her wake was scorched grass and one toasted puppy.

"Ow…"

Raquel fell over, giving May the victory.

"This match is over. May's the winner!" Crimson said. "Not bad for the first go..."

May took up Kaori to rub her head affectionately while praising her efforts.

"Not too shabby at all..." Brendan remarked returning Raquel. "I can see why my dad has his eye out for you now. Look, your Pokémon already likes you, even though you just got it. May, I get the feeling that you could befriend any Pokémon with ease. We should head back to the Lab. But here..."

He paid May her prize money for winning before bidding her farewell.

[Music Ends]

He left as Crimson got a few things out of his own supplies. He handed May a Max Revive and a pair of Super Potions to which she immediately used.

"Smashing good show, May." Amelia said as May snuggled a healed Buster.

"Let's get..." Crimson said before sensing something.

"What's wro-"

Amelia looked up in shock as the others jerked their head off up was a spherical pod that was slowly coming apart. Crimson and everyone else sprang into action as it was clearly going to crash into Oldale Town. The explosion rocked the place with it narrowly missing the flower garden. The pod broke apart as Pokémon were trying to escape from it before a big white blur tore through the front of it, racing down Twig Walk. A shiny Cranidos leapt out going into the opposite direction towards Bridgeway.

Amelia's focus on one that got stuck under some rubble and moved to help. She lifted the metals sheets of it before getting out one of her special dog treats along seeing it was a dog Pokémon. For the Pokémon in question, it leapt to eat it in seconds. That and what Crimson had sensed put a dark look on his face. Crimson did not exactly answer as he moved debris to get inside the pod. He came out with to find a shiny Ralts with a bad head wound. Without a word, he moved to take it to the Pokémon Center.

"Poor thing..." Amelia said worriedly as Buster barked. "Hm?"

"You think you can watch me, you creepy ghost!" Buster said seemingly biting in the air.

That was until the ghost Pokémon became visible. Its grey-black body is wispy with nubby arms. Covering its head is a small, gray-brown tree stump with a wavy branch on each side. Its blue eyes are visible through two holes in the stump and its mouth appears on the stump itself. There are two small, red leaves near the tip of each branch. The gleam it came off made it and the other Pokémon near it were shiny.

May tried to use her PokéDex only to be get no results.

"Useless ass Dex. I need a ba-"

"Here." Amelia said handing her a Luxury Ball.

She easily had it caught

"Can I please have another one of those treats?"

Amelia looked down at the Pokémon that looked like a Growlithe. However, it's fur was a vibrant golden-yellow, while its mane and tail are soft silver-gray, and its muzzle is a light cream. Its mane covers its eyes and extends below its head, ending with three curls. Its ears are round and square with light yellow interiors. It has a small horn made of rock on its head, and its tail is curly. She dealt down to ask when the last time was that it had eaten.

"Three days ago was my last major meal...one of those people at the lab would sneak me snacks like that but they weren't as good."

Amelia wasted no time capturing it before sending it out to hold and feed it more treats.

"So I leave you morons alone for a few minutes…to handle business and the experiments managed to escape from the lab while making sure that we'd have to recapture them again."

Gendo Ikari looked furious with his hands crossed while demanding answers. Things were already looking bad. His partner had tried to double cross him, so she had to put her down. He supposed he had to deal with the fact that Sister Sage would tell him that she told him so.

"So, Dr. Risinger betrayed you…"

They were not Pokémon, but people…empowered through science to be superhuman with abilities to match. While he and Dr. Risinger had worked on the alterations, it had been Dr. Risinger who worked on the codenames. Stool Shadow, Firecracker, Translucent, and The Deep were the SWAN…the Squad Without a Name. Sister Sage was an exception given her abilities made her the perfect lab assistant, much to Gendo's ire at times. Gendo took a breath explaining that the Pokémon escaping was not a problem as long as the Ralts had not escaped. He looked at them and asked if she had escaped.

"She did. I was in the bathroom taking a sh-"

"No you were-"

"Shut it, Translucent!" Sister Sage interrupted. "I was taking a shit. Stool Shadow was in charge of them."

"They…picked the lock." Stool Shadow said innocently as Gendo facepalmed.

The only reason she was not harmed was that she was the only one who snuck them any food. She knew full well that she may have inadvertently contributed to the Pokémon escaping, but kept quiet as she did not want to get yelled at or hit.

"Well thank you for being fucking useless. Thanks to you…a lot of equipment was damaged, my test subjects escaped, and the samples I had destroyed." Gendo said before going over to his computer. "Ok, the pod gave off a signal before it went offline. Oldale Town. Translucent. You are to take this tracker and capture all the escaped Pokémon."

"Understood."

"Can I go with?" Stool Shadow asked. "Me, Phanto, and Ninji can help in the skies."

"Who?" Gendo asked.

"My Ninjask and Shedninja." Stool Shadow remarked proudly.

"Bugs. Really? Who the fuck is proud of using Bugs?" Firecracker snidely said.

"No, Stool Shadow. Go clean something. Translucent, while I would like all the Pokémon recaptured…the Ralts is the priority. Capture it at all costs." Gendo said before handing him the tracker. "Get going."

As Translucent left, Gendo turned his focus to the others. They had a weapons deal to finish and a lab to repair.

(A/N: For those new to series, you'll be confused, but those returning from the first will get it. To explain, Gendo was established to be running the remains of the organization that was experimenting on people and Pokémon. Two products of that were his son and Asuka who managed to elude him for now. I had always planned to use the 'supes' of the Boys, but the debate was on which ones. For those who only watched the show, Stool Shadow is mentioned, but I'm using her portrayal in the comics. The rest are taken from the Amazon show. Moving on, May had her first rival battle and got to show her stuff. She is her father's child after all.)

(Trivia: The nicknames that Brendan uses are a reference to Pokémon in some form, let's see who gets it.)
