Graduation
I woke up to Gramms and Bonnie standing over me, it's kinda comical because Bonnie woke up to the exact same sight not too long ago.
"Are we all dead?" I asked as Bonnie helped me up. I checked myself over unsure of what exactly I was looking for.
"You're fine." Gramms said shaking her head."Bonnie isn't though."
"I finished the spell though." Bonnie replied with a small smile."And I can put the veil back up tomorrow night during the full moon."
"That's a whole day that all those dead people get to roam around, be mindful we still have 12 angry witches somewhere out there." I pointed out, Bonnie shook her head. I knew it was out of her hands. She was a ghost and I didn't have expression.
"What do we do?" Bonnie turned to Gramms she sighed, even in death we were getting on her nerves.
"You need to tell your friends." She replied pointing at Bonnie."You need to get the hell out of this town." She pointed at me.
"I will." We both answered at the same time.
"I'll make sure nobody finds your body go." Gramms ordered with one hard look at Bonnie's body the two of us left the boiler room.
"Now what?"
"We go home and sleep and get ready to graduate and we say our goodbyes." I replied, it was all we really could do. I had to go at life without my sister until a loophole was found and I don't know how long that could take.
"It's not a goodbye, we'll figure something out." Bonnie replied, I was beyond thankful Kol dropped off my car at some point. Bonnie & I climbed inside and drove back to our house.
Everything felt shitty but it wasn't anything we could do about it. Naturally neither of us slept, Bonnie ended up ironing our gowns and getting our clothes together. She was doing everything to keep herself busy.
By 5am she'd had both our hair styles and make up planned out, repainted my nails 12 times and told me she'd loved me 100 more times.
I finally was able to doze off for alittle bit. The sound of Bonnie's alarm woke me up.
I got out of bed and started to get ready, it felt weird how much of a normal day I was having so far. I'd stayed up all night with Bonnie took a cat nap, and now I'm just standing here brushing my teeth.
I took a quick shower and came back into my room, Bonnie was already ready. I put on the black dress she'd picked out and sat down so she could do my make up.
"I think I'm gonna cut and dye my hair." I randomly said, Bonnie paused on my make up and looked at me.
"You? The one all about your natural hair?" She snorted."You slander me every time I get my hair repermed."
"You're frying your brain for what?" I asked snorting back at her."There's a reason your hair just gave up on growing."
"Okay, I apologize." Bonnie threw her hands up in surrender." What's the plan for it?"
"Blonde? Maybe red?"
"No." Bonnie deadpanned."Absolutely not, I'm rolling over and I'm not even in my grave yet at the thought of that."
"Harsh." I smiled at her." Fine I won't dye it but these have got to come out."
"Yeah, Caroline isn't the best braider you've got a few twists in there." Bonnie laughed holding one up to show me. I pulled my hair up into a bun and laughed." She did her best."
"She did. Have you spoken to Elena yet?" I asked it was kinda of weird. She hasn't come to me as a ghost or after Bonnie bought her back. In a way it felt like she was still gone.
"I did, she had to undue our cover story so she can walk with us."
"That's gonna be so confusing." I shook my head, I wasn't ready to face her but I knew I had to today. I was beyond thankful I wasn't going to the same college as them. Bonnie and I let out a deep sigh as both our phones starting blowing up at the same time.
"Rebekah?"
"Elena?"
We both laughed showing each other our phones before answering them. Rebekah quickly filled me in on her vampire hunter ex who was holding her and Matt hostage. I swallowed hard those guys really like explosives and I am highly flammable.
We both got off the phone and gave each other the same hard look. Of course today would be nothing but easy.
"We'll meet back up later?" Bonnie asked.
"Naturally." I replied giving her a quick hug before the two of us headed our separate ways. I climbed into my car and let out a yelp as a person occupied by passenger seat and my back seat." Oh come on I didn't kill you."
"I'm here to help you." Chris replied, I raised an eyebrow wondering why he'd come to me when Tiana was very much still in town herself.
"You know Tiana is here right? Why did you come to me?" I asked backing out the driveway quickly the last thing I needed was for Bonnie to see I'd already had ghost showing up. I glanced at Kol in the backseat, I guess he was making sure I was really safe.
"Out of respect, you saved her so I'm returning the favor. The hybrids aren't after you but those 12 witches are." He explained. I fully 100% expected the witches to come for me it wouldn't have made any sense for them to come after anybody else." They also want your sister & T. I'm going to be busy with the others but I wanted you to know what you were getting into."
"Thank you, Chris." I said sincerely. The poor guy really died for nothing he wasn't even one of the Hybrids who was sacrificed for the triangle. He literally died before we could get that far." After you see Tiana, I hope you do find peace."
"I appreciate that." He nodded to Kol before vanishing from the front seat. Kol swiftly took his place and kicked his feet up on my dashboard.
"You know how we talked about you'd see if Davina could resurrect me?" Kol asked, I turned to look at him curious about where he was about to take this."What if we just leave the veil down, your sister & I get to stay forever."
"The easiest option isn't always the best, Kol." I said shocked at how mature I sounded. I'd wanted nothing more for them to stay but we'd also unleashed only god knew who else. We all thought we were the main character but what if some random person was off battling the ultimate evil right now because we lowered the veil and we knew nothing about it?
Like they'd just woke up and had to go toe to toe with Dracula again or something because we left the veil down.
"You raised Silas to bring me back and when I'm back your not going to let me stay? Alicia you need to learn how to make up your mind." He said exasperatedly. He was absolutely right, I was an extremely neutral witch sometimes protecting the balance made perfect sense and other times I could care less. Unfortunately this was one of those time where there was no avoiding my duty as a witch.
"I didn't realize what that entailed Kol. I just assumed Silas would pay us back and bring back who we asked for. I haven't even spoken to him since before the veil got lowered."
"Never believe an Immortal anything is being straight forward with you." Kol chastised. I gave him a hard look and swallowed.
"Get out of my car."
"Alicia."
"I'm not going to tell you again." I said calmly, I'm not sure if he even fully paid attention to what he'd just said to me. He was an immortal anything himself. Based off his words he isn't even straight forward with me.
Kol didn't say anything else he just disappeared from the passenger seat. I shook my head and finished my drive in silence. I heard a loud boom as I parked my car, I quickly jumped out trying to see if I could spot Rebekah or Matt anywhere.
"Drive!" Rebekah hissed appearing out of nowhere, she climbed into the passenger seat while Matt got into the back. Without being told twice I got back into the car and peeled out of there.
"What just happened?" I asked looking from Rebekah to Matt. The duo were breathing heavily and Matt looked like he'd shit himself.
"Well I've finally done something I was terribly afraid of and blown up my ex in the process. Nothing too crazy." She responded, Matt let out a snort while I huffed.
"So you figured it out without me."
"You took forever to get here, I'm capable of saving myself." Rebekah replied with a smile."I imagine you were busy with my brother."
"Your brother is somewhere roaming the streets by himself, he can stay there too." I shrugged, Rebekah's smile dropped but I ignored it. I drove the two back to her house and dropped them off.
I headed off to the school to find Bonnie, hopefully her problem was able to fix itself before she'd arrived also. I came to a stop in the school parking lot and pulled my phone out surprised I'd had a missed call from Elena.
After hesitating long enough that I was able to walk to my locker I called the girl back. After a few rings she answered.
"Call Klaus and have him come back to town."
"Okay."
Wordlessly the two of us hung up. It was straight forward and that was the most I should have expected from her. I am the last person she'd be calling to catch up with right now.
I leaned against my locker and gave Klaus a quick call. After the final ring he answered.
"Are you gonna watch me & your sister graduate?" I asked, if I outright said Elena needed him he wouldn't come. You had to use a bit of finesse when dealing with Klaus.
"Now why would I do that?"
"Caroline is gonna be there. And you have until tonight before Bonnie puts the veil back up. You can see Kol again."
"He's there? Why didn't you call sooner?" Klaus barked, he was right. It was beyond selfish of me that I didn't share the news with Klaus and Elijah. I'd honestly expected Rebekah to have already called.
"I thought Bekah did. Just get here okay?"
"I'll be there." He replied hanging up. I shot Elena back a text to let her know Klaus was on his way. I let out a deep breath and head out to the football field, graduation would be starting shortly and I was not ready.
I met up with Bonnie at the exact moment Caroline did. The blonde gave me a pained look. I raised an eyebrow and shook my head leave it to Elena to tell everybody who would listen what happened.
"Did you talk to Klaus?"
"I did, he's on his way here. I'm not sure how long it'll be though." I replied, Caroline nodded her blonde hair bouncing with her.
"Great, so Damon will be fine." She replied, I looked from her to Bonnie confused."Werewolf venom, personally I'd let him die but it wouldn't be right to let him die and Elena just came back."
My eyes widened Caroline wasn't mad at me, the look was for Damon who was dying a slow painful death at the moment.
"Where's everybody?" I asked looking around. I was shocked that only the three of us were here. You'd think Elena would've been the first one here.
"I'm here!" Matt answered throwing his arm over Bonnie's shoulder. I whipped my head around because where he came from I had absolutely no idea.
"Where have you been?" Bonnie asked Matt, the Quarterback grinned at her.
"Making plans for the summer and dodging a vampire hunter the usual." He answered. I'm not 100% sure what happened but he did seem to be a lot happier than before.
"Where's Elena? We can't do this without her." Caroline said, I shifted uncomfortably as if on cue Elena & Stefan strolled over. Elena gave everybody a quick hug.
"Thank you for everything Bonnie." She grinned at my sister. Bonnie's eyes watered up making mine do the same. To everybody else it seemed like tears of joy but it was the farthest thing from it. Bonnie would be gone after tonight.
"This is our last harrah before you guys go off to college." Bonnie said, I cringed at how she'd slipped up.
"You mean we." Caroline corrected." Unless you decided to go with Alicia to New Orleans?"
"No she's definitely not coming there." I replied wiping my eyes.
"And I missed the deadline you know." Elena commented I was thankful she'd changed the subject.
"Well the perks of being a vampire, we can go wherever we wanna go, we can choose our own roommates. We could get a quadruple room." Caroline said enthusiastically. Bonnie & I would not be there. Whoever they ended up rooming with was gonna be absolutely pissed.
"I'm just glad we're all here." Bonnie said.
"Group hug." Caroline said. Stefan and I both grimaced the last thing either of us wanted was a group hug.
Caroline strong armed us all into a hug before we could even object. My Dad took the stage meaning the ceremony was going to start right now.
"Welcome Parents, family & friends. What a beautiful day for a graduation. Thank you for joining us today on this special day. Let's get started." He announced, Bonnie & I locked hands.
" John Albrecht."
"David Bance."
Dad announced the names and one by one kids went up onto the stage to collect their diplomas.
"Sarah Beasley."
I swallowed hard knowing, I was next followed by Bonnie.
"Not to play favorites but these next two graduates I'm extremely proud of my lovely daughters: Alicia & Bonnie Bennett." Dad announced, I snorted at the fact he'd announced us both together. Couldn't give the favorite speech without it sounding awkwardly if he did it separate.
We both headed up on the stage still holding hands with a smile.
Bonnie finally let go of my hand to give Dad a hug, I scoffed I really didn't want to but for appearances I guess I had to. I joined in the hug.
"I'm so proud of you both." He whispered kissing the top of our heads.
"Thanks Dad." Bonnie replied.
"You're welcome." He answered. I pulled away from the hug first and left the stage. To say I didn't love my father would be an understatement, I just didn't have a relationship with him while Bonnie did.
I took my seat while everybody else received their diplomas you'd think to make this smoother they would've put us in ABC order.
"Alicia." Kol whispered into my ear. I didn't bother turning around." I know you're mad at me but look around right now."
My eyes scanned around stopping on a slightly familiar face. I think she was one of the witches I'd killed. I spotted one of the Hybrids Adrian after a while too.
"They wanna make their move now?" I asked annoyed, literally why did they not do this yesterday. Being petty really was annoying.
"There's two dozen supernaturals here for their revenge. It took a lot of work convincing them I was with them, the witches were especially hard they really want you to suffer."
"So what should I do?" I asked getting more and more annoyed.
"Don't die." He simply said before leaving. I rolled my eyes and checked my phone trying to see if Klaus was letting me know he was close.
The ceremony is officially over thankfully and everybody was gathered behind the football field why they'd choose to stand here I'd never know.
"Any updates on Klaus?" Stefan asked, he kept his distance from me of course.
"Nothing last I heard he was on his way." I replied, Stefan nodded he looked stressed." It'll be okay, he'll get here."
Suddenly a high pitched ringing sound goes off, I cover both my ears in an attempt to keep them from bleeding. I glance over at Stefan, Elena & Caroline who all heard the same thing.
"Alicia, hi!" Aja grins, I stand up straight and roll my eyes. My heart drops when the other 11 witches come to a stand beside her. Once again lending there magic to her.
I let out a sigh of relief when the spell fades but let out a loud shriek as Aja's head rolls to a stop at my feet.
"There are plenty more of these to go around who's next." Klaus' heavily accented voice fills the air. I was beyond grateful at his need to be overdramatic because that bitch was surely going to kill me.
"What took you so long." I hissed kicking her head away from me." I called you forever ago."
"You know how New Orleans is Love." He replied he made sure to emphasize New Orleans very hard." I'm going to handle business here and you are coming with me today."
"You can't just force her to come with you today." Caroline spoke up, I was shocked anybody even choose to say anything." She's coming the end of the summer let her enjoy her last few months with us."
"No, Caroline it's probably best if she doesn't." Elena said, I wanted to say something sassy but held my tongue.
"Alicia and I have much to discuss about her time in New Orleans." Klaus replied Caroline started to say something else but I shook my head.
"It's fine, Care. You guys go ahead and I'll go home and pack."
"Are you sure?" Caroline asked she looked absolutely shocked nobody else wanted to try to convince Klaus to leave me alone.
"Yes go deal with Damon."
The next thing I knew I was alone, I let out a deep sigh as I started walking back to my car. I climbed in and couldn't help but cry. There truly wasn't anything here for me anymore.
"Are you seriously crying right now?" Tiana asked. I jumped I had no idea she was even here." Don't mind me I'm just the one who had to clean up 12 bodies."
"Bark or something next time." I hissed wiping my eyes." I guess you heard we're going back today."
"Oh I heard. I had my neck snapped 6 times already." She rubbed her neck annoyed." Klaus was only two of those."
"Who the hell snapped your neck 4 times?"
"The witches three times and Kim once before Chris saved me."
"That explains why I didn't know where you were." I put the car into drive and headed toward my house. "Do you need to pack anything?"
"I'm already packed, I packed up your stuff too." She answered, I nodded as the two of us caught up on the day. When we got to my house the only things I grabbed were a few of Bonnie's things plus the picture she'd given me for my birthday. I brought Rudy in from the backyard and we got back inside the car.
"Do you think I'm being too hard on Kol?" I asked we were driving to Klaus' mansion it wasn't within the triangle so it was a safe place to wait out the veil going back up.
"Yes, I don't think he was telling you, you couldn't trust him but that you can't trust a lot of us." She explained which made perfect sense his deliverance however was shitty." You have a couple hours before the veil goes up, you should see him. You never know if it'll be the last time."
"I take it you talked to Chris?"
"I did." She answered with a small smile." I got the closure I needed and he was able to find peace."
I was happy for her, the two of them definitely seemed close and I could tell how much it hurt her when he was killed. I wasn't sure what I should do for the next few hours. I wanted to stay put at Klaus' until he returned but I also didn't like the idea of not allowing myself to say goodbye when I actually had the opportunity to do so.
I shot Tiana a quick text letting her know I was heading out and since she was finished here she could take our stuff and Rudy and head to New Orleans now instead of waiting.
I got in my car and drove to the Lockwood cellar since it was within the triangle everybody I needed to see could appear to me here. I was mainly hoping to speak to Kol here before I went back to the school, I knew exactly where to find Bonnie & Gramms.
When I walked down the stairs I was surprised to see Kol leaning against a wall as if he'd known I'd come here of all places.
"Either we really share one brain cell or Tiana tipped you off." I teased walking closer to him. He looked up and flashed me a huge smile." Tiana definitely tipped you off."
"She may have called your sister whom generously pointed me in the correct direction." He replied. I snorted, leave it to Bonnie to know where I'd go without me even talking to her." I spoke to Niklaus."
"Did you? How'd that go?"
"He apologized for not getting there quicker, however I enjoyed every moment of him ripping the doppleganger apart so it wasn't too bad other than the dying part." He replied with a shrug. I frowned I'd been able to get by without knowing the details to Elena's death. Knowing that Klaus took his time definitely made my stomach turn.
"I didn't know he did that."
"Right your aversion to gore." He mumbled, without saying anything else I pulled him into a hug which he awkwardly returned." You are confident you're witch friend can bring me back?"
"I'm confident." I answered, I 100% believed that Davina would be able to bring Kol back once we got to New Orleans. I just needed to do everything in my power to make it happen. I needed to find the spell and gather everything she'd need.
"Okay. At least do something interesting if I'm stuck just watching. Be a righteous pain in Niklaus & Elijah's ass for me."
"I was doing that before we even met." I looked up at him through my eyelashes and smiled." Consider it already done. I'm actually gonna be stuck in a car with Klaus once Bonnie puts up the veil. I can start today."
"That's my girl." He chuckled, he rested his chin on the top of my head. I couldn't help the tear that rolled down my cheek. As much as I believed I would get him back a part of me didn't. I knew magic always had a loophole but sometimes there's a loophole to that loophole.
"You're crying like this is a goodbye. I will see you again in New Orleans, Little Witch." He said sternly. I swallowed hard and nodded." Now go be with your sister."
"Okay." I slowly broke away from the hug and turned away.
"And Alicia." Kol called, I stopped in my tracks and slowly turned to face him." I love you."
"I love you too." I replied without wasting a second."Always & forever."
"Always & forever." Kol replied before vanishing. I wiped my eyes one more time before leaving the cellar. I had to hurry up and get to Bonnie so I could see her & Gramms off. I quickly hurried to my car and jumped in. I drove as fast as I could to the school. I nearly caused an accident or two before I made it there.
I sprinted from my car into the building and down to the boiler room as quickly as my legs would carry me. I let out a sigh of relief at Bonnie & Jeremy.
I noticed this time I could actually feel his magical energy almost immediately. It was different.
"I told you she'd make it." Bonnie smiled sweetly, I ran from the door way and into her arms."She's not totally boy crazy."
"For my sister I'd do anything, same as you." I said to Jeremy without breaking eye contact. He'd done what he did to Kol for his sister.
"Look Bonnie brought us back so I'm not going to hold a grudge against you. I can't say the same for the others though." Jeremy answered. I shrugged, truthfully my place within the friend group was long gone. I found myself spending more and more time with the Mikealson's and less with them.
My friendship with Damon died awhile ago.
Stefan & I never really were close only cordial.
Elena irritated the hell out of me.
And Caroline stole my boyfriend.
Truthfully I should hate all they're asses. But I didn't. I'd honestly felt more of a weight lifted off my shoulders than anything.
"That's absolutely fine." I shrugged leaving Jeremy to stare at me shocked."Do you mind giving us 5 minutes, I'm not sure how long it'll be until I'm able to speak to my sister again."
"Yeah sure." He stammered out walking away. The fact he was shocked I really didn't care about being a part of the Mystic Falls gang was funny. If I wasn't smart I'd probably be dead if I stuck with them. They lacked logic. Honestly if Stefan & Damon didn't come to town we probably wouldn't even have been in any of this mess.
"You gonna be okay alone?" Bonnie asked, I gave her a look. The fact she was concerned with if I was gonna be okay by myself like she wasn't also going to be alone was sweet.
I'd had Bonnie with me all of my life, sure it was going to suck without her. But I have magic I could talk to her again if I needed to. And nobody ever truly stayed dead around here. I knew in my heart she'd be back and I was going to see her again.
This truly was a just in case I never see her again thing.
Which mentally I wasn't prepared to accept if it went that way, the only thing keeping me from falling apart was me holding onto hope.
Once I get my hands on that ancestral magic.
"Are you going to be okay?" I asked forcing a smile." It's going to get awfully lonely over there."
"She won't be alone." Gramms said appearing she came to a stop beside Bonnie." We'll be over here together."
"Damn. Now I wish I didn't wake up." I joked. Gramms popped me in the back of the head before Bonnie could even react.
"Don't joke like that. With the way you act it's only a matter of time." She chastised. I rubbed the back of my head as if she'd hurt me." I've been dying to knock some sense into that head of yours."
"Might have to hit her harder, Gramms. That's a lot of head she's carrying." Bonnie instigated. I rolled my eyes and pulled the two into a tight hug.
"Seriously I'm going to be okay. I can talk to you whenever I need you. And I promise I'm going to try not to get myself killed."
"She only said try not that she won't." Bonnie pointed out. Gramms let out a laugh at Bonnie trying to get me popped one more time.
"I missed you two so much." Gramms let go of Bonnie and pulled me into a tight hug. Her and Bonnie would have so much time together so Bonnie wasn't offended by the lack of hug." I had my reservations about you being around the Originals. But it might be the safest place for you."
"You sure about that?" Bonnie asked.
"I've seen how hard the younger brother loves her. They won't let anything happen to her for him. She's going to be okay." Gramms said pulling away from me. She took Bonnie's hand and the two of them vanished leaving me standing alone in the boiler room.
Third story should immediately be up; I'll cross post it between both The Originals & The Vampire Diaries.
I'm breaking the tradition of using Ariana songs for the titles. New story is called Power.
