Hello there; hope you're liking this ficlet collection as much as I am, of course.
Because of his seemingly having all the luck with even the freshman girls, Hawk was viewed as a "good-luck charm" by the girls, and the guys would even come to him for advice when it came to their own relationships. Plus, they'd even heard about that so-called trend called "girlfriend stealing" through grapevine gossip more than once, so one of them made it a point to inform Hawk about it, while also making sure to add that Hawk was more than welcome to "steal" away his girlfriend if he wanted to.
And the Mean Bees (as Regina, Mary and Annie were sometimes called)? They were viewed as "unlucky" and "bad luck magnets" by the other guys, who made a point of avoiding them after having heard through grapevine gossip about how mean they were to others.
Also, Hawk was able to effortlessly draw the girls to his side, whereas Regina, Mary and Annie couldn't even get a boy to like them despite putting their best efforts forward — let alone proverbially give one of them the time of day.
Hawk was able to lock eyes with the girls, and they would head over to where he would be before greeting him. Then, they'd ask him about the homework or a project he was working on (which they admitted to hearing about through pieces of grapevine gossip) and thought he could use some help with (the latter of which he appreciated and said as such). Sometimes, one of them would ask for advice on what to do about problems like someone attempting to bully them. He heard them out, and then would give the best answer that he could think of.
The Mean Bees, however, could only catch each other's eyes, and none of the other students would even look at them; the other girls and guys would simply walk around them and pretend as though they weren't even there.
Regina, Mary and Annie had become targets of a bully's favorite games: Arched Eyebrow. Flounce Away. Cold Shoulder. Silent Treatment.
Sometimes, the other students would gather in groups of two or three and, if Regina, Annie or Mary would even attempt to speak to them, ask those questions of "Is there a fly buzzing around here?" or "Do you hear a buzzing sound?"
Nice feedback is superbly appreciated, of course. 😁
