Episode 4: Chapter 2
Sophie smiled lightly to herself as she finished pulling on her black flats, which she had paired up with a light blue top and a long black skirt with a slit up one side to the top of her thigh, giving a good view of her leg. She checked herself in the mirror and finished her hair, styling it into a French braid.
'I, I look good, okay…' She thought to herself, trying to calm her nerves.
It was finally time. With things being much happier now and not seeing any further problems she had spoken with Kyle about going on a date, not only that, it was a double date too, as they'd be with Violet and Clementine too to a newly opened seafood restaurant in town. Exiting her room she made her way downstairs and spotted her siblings in the living room. Looking up and seeing her, Tenn smiled while Minerva huffed and turned her head away.
"Ready for your date, Sophie?" He asked casually.
Sophie blushed at that. "Yes, Kyle will be here soon, we'll meet Violet and Clementine at the restaurant then going on to a movie."
Tenn nodded. "Wow, cool, have fun."
She smiled; it was still a work in progress but she had hope that finally what remained of her family could pull together, even if Minerva was still being so unreasonable about her and Kyle. It was then there was a knock at the door. Her excitement, and nervousness, mounting Sophie went and answered it. Kyle stood there, smiling widely, even wider upon seeing her. He was dressed up in a dark blue v-neck shirt with khaki pants and brown loafers.
"Wow, Sophie…"
She blushed again, but laughed. "I know; you look pretty good yourself."
They both laughed and Kyle gently took her hand. Bidding farewell to Tenn, since Minerva continued to ignore them, the couple made their way to Kyle's car and began their drive to the restaurant.
"Still can't believe everything that's happened." Kyle remarked.
Sophie nodded. "I know, I'm just glad we all finally have this chance. That, that even with all that's happened with my family, and the creeps that have been harassing us, we still have a chance to behave like normal teens."
"Yeah...this is a chance for us to enjoy something good." Kyle remarked; his smile turning a little wistful. "I want you know, I'm not upset about Minerva."
Sophie tilted her head at that. "Huh, what, what are you talking about?"
"I'm not gonna get all bent out of shape about her not liking me, I don't get why she's still so against me, after everything, but...I can handle it." Kyle explained nervously.
She noted this and gently touched his hand.
"Don't worry, I know you won't. It's her problem, not yours, don't borrow trouble, yeah?" She giggled.
Smiling in relief Kyle nodded and they continued on to the restaurant.
Once they had arrived and parked they got out and made their way to the door. There, waiting for them, hand in hand, were Clementine and Violet. They had both dressed up for the date, with Violet surprisingly dressing in some unexpected clothes for her, namely a lavender knee length skirt with matching flats, as well as a white blouse. A surprise as Violet rarely showed her legs, finding them too skinny, but she seemed rather comfortable in her current attire. Clementine meanwhile wore a black blouse and flats with a dark red mini-skirt, her fit toned caramel legs on show much to Violet's obvious delight.
"Hey there." Violet greeted them.
They both smiled and Sophie replied first. "Hi."
Clementine gestured to the restaurant. "Say, I've heard of this place, supposed to have amazing food, who's idea was it to come here?"
"Mine, I heard about it and thought we should try it out." Kyle admitted.
"Sweet." Clementine replied. "Well, no time like the present, let's go."
The others agreed wholeheartedly and together they made their way inside. Once inside a smiling waiter welcomed them and led them to their table, gave them their menus and then time to decide on their orders. They all smiled and soon they gave their drinks orders and consulted the menus, considering their options.
"Oh, that looks interesting." Sophie said as she pointed something out.
Violet smiled. "I've had that, be careful, it can be kinda spicy, odd for a fish I know, but the way it's prepared..."
Clementine grinned. "Sounds good, I happen to like spicy things, I think I'll try it."
The others grinned and soon, after some more checking, the others made their decisions too and gave their orders and settled in to wait for their meal, talking together and having a good time.
Finally, after finishing their meal and paying, the two couples approached the movie theatre. They were all looking forward to this and, after making sure they had everything, getting their tickets and going to the necessary room, they all settled in and sat, waiting for the movie to begin, their arms around their respective partners, this has been a wonderful evening and they were hopeful that things would get better. In the back of their minds, they were all hopeful that things would would continue to get better, that things would stay happy now that they seemed to have finally dealt with the threats they had faced. What they didn't see was the figure at the back of the theatre, watching not the movie screen, but them.
'Hmmm...found you at last. I will deal with you in time, Sophie, you and your sister, I swear I will finish my revenge…' The figure mused.
But they didn't ponder further on it, they simply left and continued their plotting.
