Penelope rested peacefully and her vitals stayed steady and strong over the next 12 hours and when she woke up Derek and her brothers were at her side with huge smiles on all of their handsome faces.
Connie walked into the room and said, "well it's good to see you awake Penelope, now try not to talk much because of the pressure in your lungs where we are trying to reinflate the one that had collapsed during the accident.
She nodded her head and said, "better, hurting but better", Connie said, "good, good and just so you know, for now you are hooked up to a catheter but when your lung reinflates we will get you off of that as soon as we can".
Penelope looked at Derek and weakly smiled, she then turned to Paul as he said, "you scared us P, we were so afraid that we", she looked at Paul and said, "you can't get rid of me that easily little brother" causing him to smile.
Connie said, "okayyyyy, since you are doing so much better is there anything that you want or need right now?", she said, "one thing", they stood listening as she said, "m m married, I want to get married", Connie said, "you are getting married", Penelope shook her head and said, "n no, now, I want to get married, t t today".
Derek looked around the room and said, "baby, you shouldn't talk, you need to rest", Connie could see the determination written all over Penelope's face and said, "I'll make a deal with you", Penelope laid there tiredly looking up at the woman that had saved her life.
Connie said, "I'll sign off on this wedding on one condition", Penelope said, "w w what?", Connie said, "that you say I do and only I do for the ceremony because you are putting so much pressure on your lungs when you talk".
Penelope gently squeezed Derek's hand and said, "d d deal", Paul and Patrick looked at their sister and Patrick said, "we'll go let the others know that you want to get married today and see what we can do about pulling your wedding together".
Penelope nodded her head yes and smiled as she watched her brothers run from the room in search of the rest of their family, she then looked at Derek and winked at him and mouthed the words, "I love you", Derek said, "and I love you baby girl and I love you" as he brought her hand to his lips and kissed it
