Central City:
A week had passed since Barry had returned to Central City with Laurel, they were enjoying their time together. Things from Star City had been quiet which made the pair think things were okay. Central City also got another surprise: a day after Barry had returned, a heist had taken place at Central City Bank but it was stopped by not just The Flash, but also the Black Canary.
Allen Home:
Barry was sitting in the living room looking at the flash drive, he was thinking about what Wells had recorded for him. Laurel walked in the home and placed her bag on the armchair then sat next to Barry.
"You okay, Barry?" Laurel asked as she was worried. Barry nodded as he reached in front of him and pulled over his laptop.
"Will you watch this with me?" Barry asked whilst looking at Laurel. "It's time." Barry explained as Laurel held his hand.
"I'm here with you." Laurel told him and Barry smiled. Laurel opened up the laptop then took the flash drive and inserted it. "Do you want to play it or do you want me to?" Laurel asked, Barry looked at the computer then pressed the Spacebar.
"Hello Barry. If you're watching this, that means something has gone wrong. I'm dead and the last fifteen years have been for nothing." Wells started as Barry sat forward, with Laurel holding his hand for support. "When I realised in all those fifteen years, helping raise you, we were never truly enemies, Barry. I'm not the thing you hate but I'll give you the thing that you want most." Wells paused as he put on his glasses and sat forward in his chair. "But it won't matter, you'll never be truly happy. Trust me." Wells smiled but it was making Barry angry, until he felt Laurel smooth his hand then she paused the video.
"Barry, what he said is not true." Laurel told him as Barry looked at her. "Look at you: you have your friends here and in Star City. And me." Barry nodded then a small smile appeared.
"Thank you, Laurel." Barry thanked and Laurel nodded. "Let's see what else he has to say." Barry suggested as he and Laurel watched, just as Laurel resumed the video.
"Now, erase everything I said up to this point then give the following message to the police," Wells sighed which confused Barry and Laurel. "My name is Harrison Wells, being of sound mind and body, I confess to the murder of Nora Allen, in her home, on the night of March Eighteenth in the year Two Thousand." The rest of the message continued as Barry slowly got up and covered his mouth, while Laurel watched him.
"Oh my god!" Barry gasped as he leaned against the wall then slid down it until he was sitting on the floor. "He did it. He confessed." Barry sighed as Laurel got up and ran over to him, she pulled Barry into a hug as they both smiled.
"We can free your Dad, Barry." Laurel told him and Barry nodded. "I can copy the confession and deliver it to the CCPD, you wait here." Laurel instructed as she got a flash drive from her bag and started to make a copy of Wells' confession.
"If you go, I go." Barry told her and Laurel looked at him, she could see the look of determination in his eyes. "I'll call the others to meet here." Barry took out his phone and called the team while Laurel copied the message. Laurel got the message onto a second flash drive then looked at Barry, who had just put his phone away. "Joe's at CCPD with Captain Singh, Iris will call the others." Barry explained and Laurel nodded.
"Let's run then." Laurel suggested as Barry put on his jacket then held Laurel's jacket, she slipped her arms in then grabbed her handbag. The pair walked out then Barry picked Laurel up and raced towards the CCPD.
CCPD:
Barry was pacing around outside the bullpen as Laurel was talking to Joe and David in the Captain's office. Barry looked over at the Captain's office when Joe's partner walked over, offering him a coffee.
"You must be Barry, Barry Allen." She asked and Barry nodded. "I'm Patty Spivot, West's new partner." Patty introduced and Barry smiled.
"It's nice to meet you, Patty." Barry smiled and Patty nodded. "Is there something you need?" He asked curiously as they walked into the bullpen.
"I wanted to see if you were okay, I saw you pacing around a lot." Patty explained and Barry nodded. "Can I ask if everything is okay?" Patty asked just as the Captain's office door opened. Barry looked over to see Laurel smiling, Barry then looked at Joe and David and they nodded.
"Congratulations, Mister Allen. Your Dad is free." Captain Singh smiled as he held out his hand. Barry shook his hand then hugged Joe. Barry's attention then turned to Laurel and he hugged her with a smile.
"Thank you." Barry whispered and Laurel smiled. "Joe, will you be at our house to celebrate?" Barry asked as he and Laurel looked at him.
"Of course he will." David answered which surprised Joe. "Go on, Joe. We can handle things here." He reassured and Joe nodded, he grabbed his jacket then left with Barry and Laurel.
"Can you two get home and get the place ready? I'll go and get my Dad." Barry asked and they nodded. Once they were outside, Joe headed over to his car when Barry pulled Laurel into another hug. "Thank you for everything, Laurel." Barry smiled as a tear rolled down his face. Laurel smiled as she patted him on the back, Barry stepped back then Laurel wiped away his tears.
"You don't need to thank me, Barry." Laurel smiled and Barry nodded. "Now, go and get your Dad." Laurel suggested then she watched Barry ran down the street, he ran down an alley then raced off towards Iron Heights.
Later:
Team Flash and Laurel were waiting inside the house when the front door opened, Barry walked in then followed by Henry. Everyone cheered as Henry smiled then he hugged Joe as Barry hugged Laurel. The group started talking and were smiling as Barry's Dad was free, Laurel watched until Henry walked over to her.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Laurel." Henry smiled and Laurel nodded as they shook hands. "Everyone's been telling me how much you've helped my son, I can't thank you enough." Henry grinned and Laurel smiled.
"Everyone's been wanting to thank me but all I did was listen and help how I could." Laurel explained then Henry hugged her.
"You did more than that," Henry started as he stepped back. "You helped Barry smile and reunite him with the people close to him. Look." Henry and Laurel watched as Barry laughed with Iris and Cisco. "In all the time I've seen Barry, I've never seen this happy. Joe said the same thing when he saw me yesterday. And that's all because of you." Henry explained and Laurel smiled, Barry looked over at her and smiled as he walked over to them.
"How are you feeling, Dad?" Barry asked as he and Henry hugged while Laurel stood by.
"I'm feeling good, Slugger." Henry smiled and Barry chuckled as Laurel looked puzzled. "Slugger is Barry's nickname me and his Mom came up with." Henry explained and Laurel chuckled.
"What's next, Dad?" Barry asked as he, Henry and Laurel walked over to the table with the cake. "Get your licence back and become a Doctor? Stay in Central City?" Barry was curious to know what his Dad was going to do.
"I was thinking about taking a long break away from Central City," Henry thought and Barry nodded. "Not forever, son. Just for a while. Then who knows what will happen down the road." Henry smiled and Barry nodded. "But for now, I want to spend today with my superhero son and his friends." Henry chuckled as he and Barry hugged. Laurel smiled then Barry pulled her in, the trio hugged and chuckled as they were happy.
Later:
After everyone had left and Barry took his Dad to a hotel, he ran back to see Laurel sitting on the couch as she put down her phone. Barry walked over and sat next to her as Laurel looked at him with a smile.
"That was Oliver; Damien Darhk is now in prison." Laurel told them and Barry chuckled. "He'll be away for a long time." Laurel smiled and Barry nodded. "There's more good news. Ray will be coming by tomorrow, your new suit is finished." Laurel added and Barry smiled.
"How much do you want to bet that they have outdone themselves with it?" Barry asked and Laurel chuckled. "Do you want to come with me tomorrow or are you needed back in Star City?" Barry inquired as he rested his arm on the armrest.
"I'm coming with you. I'll go back the day after." Laurel answered and Barry nodded. "How does it feel having your Dad out of prison?" Laurel asked and Barry smiled.
"It feels unreal." Barry answered as Laurel turned around on the couch. "I spent so long trying to find proof to get my Dad out and now, he's free. It feels great!" Barry exclaimed and Laurel smiled. Barry smiled as he took out his phone and started calling someone as Laurel watched him. "Thank you very much." Barry smiled as he put his phone in his pocket, he turned around to see Laurel looking at him.
"Who was that, Barry?" Laurel asked but Barry ran upstairs then came back down with a suit. "Why do you need a suit?" She asked as Barry walked over and placed his suit on the armchair.
"I got us a table at the Golden Wings restaurant." Barry explained which surprised Laurel. "There's more," Barry paused as he sat down next to Laurel. "Laurel Lance, would you feel if I asked you out?" Barry asked which shocked Laurel.
"Really?" Laurel asked and Barry nodded. "Then… Yes. I will go out with you, Barry." Laurel answered as the pair got up. "I'll go and get ready." Laurel smiled then she headed upstairs to find something to wear, just as Barry ran back upstairs with his suit to change.
Golden Wings:
After getting a cab to the restaurant, Barry and Laurel were escorted to their table and seated. They smiled as they looked around then they looked at the menu, they looked at each other and smiled.
"It's been a while since I went on a date," Laurel smiled and Barry chuckled. "What about you, Barr?" Laurel asked and Barry nodded.
"Last year, it didn't last long." Barry answered and Laurel nodded. "I have to admit, this feels nice." Barry admitted and Laurel smiled.
"I agree. A nice restaurant, in a calm area and with great company." Laurel smiled and Barry smirked. "Thank you for asking me out, Barry." Laurel thanked and Barry nodded.
"It was my pleasure, Laurel." Flattered Barry as he smiled. "There was another reason I asked you out." Barry admitted as he sat forward. "For some time now, I've enjoyed your company so much. I have feelings for you, Laurel." Barry confessed which surprised Laurel. "I've been thinking for days how I should tell you but I didn't know how. I decided to tell you today because I didn't know if I would get a chance to tell you." Barry explained then Laurel reached her hands out and held his hands.
"Thank you for telling me how you feel, Barry." Laurel thanked and Barry smiled. "I must admit that I've also started to have feelings towards you. I would like to see where things go but one condition," Laurel paused and Barry nodded. "We take it slow and keep it quiet. For now." Laurel explained and Barry nodded.
"I can agree to that." Barry smiled as they picked up their wine glasses. "To our new relationship?" Barry asked with a smirk and Laurel nodded. They tapped their glasses together and took a slip as their meal arrived.
After their first date at the Golden Wings restaurant, Barry and Laurel walked out and down the street with their arms linked. They were smiling and chatting as they were enjoying themselves until they stopped near STAR Labs, they looked up at the building and smiled then they looked at each other.
"I enjoyed tonight. It was the best first date I've had… ever, don't tell Ollie that." Laurel complimented and Barry chuckled as he shook his head.
"It was great for me too. My last first date was at a spicy food place." Barry added and Laurel smiled. "Things seem to be looking up for us; my Dad's free, your team stopped Darhk." Barry smiled and Laurel nodded.
"You're right. And I don't think anything can ruin this between us." Laurel added and Barry nodded.
"I know it's early and we just started but I was wondering, could I kiss you?" Barry asked and Laurel smiled. She leant forward and kissed Barry, the pair kissed for a while until stepping back as it started to rain.
"Care to take us home, Barry?" Laurel asked as Barry picked her up and sped back to their home.
What did you think of this chapter? Not much fighting as I wanted to focus on Barry and Laurel. What do you think their new relationship will throw at them? And what will the new suit be like?
