Chapter 1 : The ugly truth is out!
The heavy oak door of 12 Grimmauld Place creaked shut behind Harry Potter. His heart hammered against his ribs, but not from exertion. Anger and betrayal coursed through his veins, hotter than Fiendfire. His mind replayed the scene at the Burrow, over and over, like some cruel Pensieve memory he couldn't escape. He tried but those memories just wouldn't leave him alone.
It had been a normal evening. Or at least, that's what Harry had initially thought.
He had arrived at the Burrow earlier than expected, hoping to surprise Ginny after his Wizengamot meeting. The garden was bathed in twilight, the scent of blooming flowers lingering in the air. Harry could see the kitchen light spilling out through the windows, and he smiled to himself, imagining Ginny inside, maybe making treacle tart or teasing George about his latest prank product.
But as he stepped closer to the house, he froze.
Voices. Low and intimate, coming from the sitting room.
He frowned. Ginny's voice was unmistakable, but there was another—deep, familiar, and entirely too close. Dread filled him in.
"You know I can't keep doing this, what we had during the war is over. I don't like you anymore." Ginny whispered.
"Why not?" The male voice was unmistakable. "We're good together, Gin. Better than you and him, and you know it!"
Harry's heart stopped. He moved silently toward the sitting room, his inner instincts kicking in. The sight that greeted him made his blood run cold.
Ginny sat curled up on the couch, her legs tucked under her, her hand resting lightly on Seamus's knee. Seamus leaned toward her, his face far too close to hers.
"It's not that simple," Ginny said, her voice conflicted. "Harry's... Harry's Harry. Everyone expects us to be together, you know? It's like they've already planned our whole lives for us."
"And what about what you want?" Seamus asked, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Do you want this? Do you want him?"
Harry stepped into the room, his voice cutting through the quiet. "I think that's an excellent question, Ginny. Do you?"
Ginny's head snapped toward him, her face draining of color. "Harry! I—this isn't what it looks like!"
"Really?" Harry said, his voice eerily calm. "Because it looks like you and Seamus are awfully cozy for just friends."
Seamus stood up quickly, his hands raised. "Mate, listen—"
"Don't," Harry said, his wand already in his hand. "Do not call me mate."
Ginny scrambled to her feet, placing herself between the two men. "Harry, please, this isn't—"
"Don't lie to me, Ginny!!" Harry bellowed, his calm snapping like a wand under pressure. "I heard you. I saw you."
"I don't believe this," Harry said, his voice shaking, but not with fear—no, this was rage. His grip tightened around his wand, and in a flash of fury, he pointed it straight at Seamus. "How dare you?"
Before Seamus could react, Harry flicked his wand sharply. With a blast of force that sent a shockwave through the room, Seamus was thrown against the wall with a deafening crash. The impact rattled the shelves, causing a few dishes to clatter to the ground. Harry took a step forward, his chest heaving, his breathing erratic, but before he could say anything else, Ginny's voice cut through the air like a blade.
"Harry, stop! Please!"
He whipped around to face her, fury flashing in his eyes. "Stop? Stop?!" Harry's voice was unrecognizable, raw with pain. "You think I'm going to just stand here and pretend like I didn't just walk in on this?" He gestured wildly at Seamus, who was picking himself up off the floor, his face bruised but unbroken. "You think I'm going to just—what? Smile and nod and pretend this never happened?"
Ginny's face crumpled as tears began to fall freely. "I never wanted this to happen, Harry."
"Well, it did!" Harry shouted, his fists clenched. "It did happen, Ginny. You don't get to walk away from this. You don't get to say it was a mistake."
"I didn't mean to hurt you!" Ginny's voice cracked, and she stepped forward, reaching out for him, but Harry recoiled as if her touch burned him.
"You hurt me, Ginny," Harry said, his voice low but edged with a pain that made it even worse. "You betrayed me. And for what? What is it that Seamus has that I didn't? What, Ginny? Because I was gone? Because I was off chasing Horcruxes, trying to save the bloody world, while you were here in the safety of the Burrow, with him?"
Ginny opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. She looked like she wanted to say something—anything—but all the words seemed to catch in her throat.
Harry's wand was still in his hand, shaking slightly now, and his eyes were locked on her in a way that seemed to pierce her soul. "I held on to that last kiss, you know. The one we shared at Hogwarts. I held onto that moment when I thought it might be the last time I'd ever see you. You were my anchor, Ginny. You were my reason to keep going, to fight for something. But now... now I see that I was just a fool."
The words were like a slap, each one landing with a brutal force that left Ginny gasping for breath. She took a step back, her expression crumbling further as if Harry's words had cut through the very core of her.
"I wasn't strong enough," she whispered, almost to herself, her eyes downcast. "I wasn't strong enough to wait for you. I couldn't handle it, Harry. You were gone, and I was alone. I needed someone here. Someone who understood."
Harry's expression shifted, his eyes narrowing in disbelief. "So, you just—slept with Seamus?" His voice wavered, the hurt threatening to spill over. "While I was risking my life, you were with him?"
Ginny's face twisted with guilt, and for the first time, she looked like she might break. "Yes," she admitted in a broken whisper. "Yes, I slept with him. During the war. When you were gone, when you were on your bloody Horcrux hunt. I didn't know if you were coming back, Harry. I didn't know if you were even alive."
The words hit Harry like a physical blow. The last thing he expected to hear was the truth—the raw, painful truth that Ginny had kept from him all this time. He stared at her, his mind reeling as if trying to comprehend the enormity of the betrayal.
"I thought about you every day, Ginny. I thought about coming back to you," Harry said, his voice thick with emotion. "I thought that when I made it through this, when I survived... I could come back to you. But now I see that I was just some... memory to you. A piece of the past you could hold on to until the next thing came along."
Ginny's tears fell harder now, her face contorted with regret. "Harry, I was scared! I thought you were dead. I thought I lost you forever. I couldn't keep waiting, not knowing if you'd ever come back to me. I never meant to hurt you. I never wanted to hurt you."
"Then why didn't you tell me?" Harry asked, his voice trembling with emotion. "Why didn't you tell me about Seamus? Why keep it a secret, Ginny? Why lie to me?"
"Because I was ashamed," Ginny whispered, her voice barely audible. "I didn't know how to say it. I didn't know how to face you after that. I was weak, Harry. I was... weak."
The silence between them was deafening. Harry stood motionless, his heart broken in ways he never thought possible. He had been through so much—the war, the loss, the sacrifices—but this... this was the one thing that might break him.
Ginny stepped toward him again, but Harry held up a hand, stopping her. "No," he said, his voice hard. "I can't do this. Not now. Not ever."
Ginny opened her mouth to protest, but Harry had already turned on his heel, heading for the door. He couldn't stay here. Not in this house, not with her. The weight of the betrayal was too much to bear.
"Harry, please..." Ginny's voice cracked as she called after him, but he didn't stop. He couldn't stop.
He slammed the door behind him, his heart in pieces as he Disapparated away, leaving the Burrow—and everything that had once been—behind him.
