Next time we find Vivian, the day this boltund gets to die.
Once Vivian woke up to what looked like a snowy and white room in front of her, she couldn't remember what it was at first. Her eyes were already baggy from the lack of sleep - mainly because of how broken she once was during the fight with Griff. She was red from the lack of sleep and the pain she endured, but eventually she got over it and made her way out of the blocked shelter where the snow broke in and nearly costed the entire team their lives.
She was cold, but she shrugged it off and wandered away, wondering where the team had gone off too. Adir was next to wake up, and his eyes were irritated from the light that was shown in front of him, but as he woke up, he suddenly realized that a certain sneasel had gone missing. Right before he could get a chance to scream at the top of his lungs, but he heard a feminine voice that echoed across the forest, and he immediately recognized who that voice belonged to. Scrambling his way out of the snow-blocked cave, Adir made his way towards Vivian not realizing the relieved, yet happy smile on her face. Vivian was alive.
Penny was next to leave, and so did Oakley, but what she hadn't realized yet is that her entire form felt bigger and different. Her eyes gaze upon the pond, and there she was in her boltund-form, trying to scream at the top of her lungs and wishing she would go back to being a yamper again. She realized her evolution only made her bigger and stronger, and her hopes weren't lost after all. Eventually she got used to the boltund form and wandered off with the rest of her teammates, making their way back into where their destination once ruled out in the snowy mountains. It wasn't that far away, but it still made half of her teammate's breathing ragged and heavy due to how far it's path was and the cold, white snow that was on top of them throughout the night.
Oakley was making her way over to the village nearby when all of a sudden, she heard a high-pitched howl that sounded exactly like a Zorua's howl. She stopped dead in her tracks and looked around. Boltunds like her have excellent hearing, and it makes them instantly follow the sound they were looking for.
"Guys," Oakley paused as she stared directly into the path where the Zorua would be seen howling far, far away from her boltund self. "I think someone might be lost."
Adir took another step closer and realized there was a zorua howling right across the distance, but something felt off. Usually Zorua's like the victim they were looking for have darker-fur and red tips on their front hair, but this one in particular was white as snow and the small, red tip made it impossible for the rest of Team Blytz to figure out who that form belonged to. Eventually it took the tyrogue a few seconds to figure out who that form belonged to.
"No need to waste time, guys." Shortly after, Oakley leads the rest of her teammates over to the path where the whitish fox would continue howling. It wasn't bloodcurdling as Oakley thought it would, but it did sound like someone was having some trouble making its way back. It wasn't as far as the boltund thought it would, but it's snow-white form made it nearly impossible for her to investigate the lost pokemon. "We've got a pokemon to save!"
Shortly after, the team made its way over to what looked like a Hisuian Zorua. Its fur was white as a sheet of paper, and it had a curly, red tip of fur on its head. The golden-yellow eyes were enough to impress Adir, but he was more focused on helping the little fox out then its actual form. This little fox in particular had small scuffs all over its white fur, but the smaller they get, the impossible it is to figure out what they are.
Finally, the white fox opened its mouth to speak. "C-Can you help me out?" The Hisuian fox mewled. "I...I'm lost.."
Oakley's determined smile quickly sank. It sounded a lot more boyish compared to other children she had encountered in the past, but this one in particular sounded masculine and childish. Apparently this zorua was too young to figure out its way back.
"We'll help you out if needed." Suddenly, the boltund's smile went back to its normal form. "You're not one of those...ghost thieves, are you?"
The white fox nodded in response.
"Do you know where your mother is?"
The white fox nodded in response once again. The boltund's smile sank once more as she turned around towards Penny, still staring directly into the canine's eyes. "D-Do you know any of these pokemon?"
Penny nodded sadly. "Nope. Last time I checked, all I saw were just Unovan Zorua all across town." She replied blankly. "And they're even from that same raid I experienced."
Oakley lowered her head down, but kept her eyes focused on the white Zorua in front of her. "I think this one might be Hisuian." Oakley started. "My Dad read something on his encyclopedia book when I was a child," She then paused and cleared her throat. "I've heard this different form of Zorua isn't as aggressive as a normal Zorua but they can get scared a lot. Hisuian Zoroark however tend to be more alert and compassionate compared to normal Zoroark."
"That makes much more sense now." Adir gasped, his eyes focused on the white fox. The team had been running plenty of time to get to the little fox right before it could get a chance to run away, but for some reason it didn't want to move a muscle. At first it looked hurt, but as Adir got a closer look, it wasn't trapped. It felt...lost. "I'm sure he's a lot more alert compared to other Zoruas."
Oakley nodded in response. Offering a paw towards the little fox, it stared at the large, white paw for a quick second before instantly grabbing it with its little hands. "I think he's-" And soon the little fox made its way out with the help of the boltund's large paw dragging him out as gently as she could. "He's free now!"
"W-Well, not technically.." The Hisuian fox mewled. "I'm just...lost."
"Don't worry, little guy." Oakley cooed softly. "We'll get you back to your mother. We promise."
The ghostly zorua stared directly into the boltund's eyes, then back at Adir's with a determined grin on his face. Nodding in response, it carefully jumps right on top of Oakley's back and soon the team makes their way back to Zyma Town, carrying the ghostly fox on her back. It was a usual and quick trip from where the fox was 'trapped' to their destination, and another few minutes of wondering where its mother had gone off to, but Penny however was more concerned about the fox's parent rather than the victim itself.
"Do you think the mother should be responsible for keeping an eye on that thing?" Penny asked as she pointed a left paw towards the ghostly-white fox on the boltund's back. "I mean, he doesn't know for sure, and he doesn't know he could get himself lost this easily."
"Female Hisuian Zoroark are way more stronger and protective than males, and they keep a serious eye on their child no matter if they get lost." Oakley responded as a smile quickly sank from her face. "Just like Linoones of any form, females are more responsible for their child."
Penny opened her mouth to talk, but mere seconds before she could get a word out, she bumped into another certain pokemon, causing her to stumble and fall onto the ground back-first. She got up in an instant and opened her mouth to scold the large pokemon for not watching where it was going, but instead of shouting at it, she immediately froze dead in her spot and was met with a beastly glare. The beast's eyes were yellow and its pupils sported a maroon-red color, glaring deeply into the now frozen-snubbull's. It's ghostly-gray fur was enough to make Penny paralyzed in place, but she wasn't focusing on that either. Instead she was already focusing on the beast's look on its face rather than it's form.
"Oh!- You're the zoroark Oakley's been talking about!" Adir's interested grin was enough to fool Oakley, but he cared little. "That Hisuian form of yours-"
"Is my son alright..?" That voice sounded so raspy and weak, and the shiny tyrogue wasn't sure if the monster was sick or not, but despite her ghostly, mighty form, it appeared to be perfectly in-shape.
"Y-Yeah, we took him back to you," Adir started. "He was kinda lost, but we took him back to you!"
Adir was met with a glare, and he expected it would just scold him for taking such a young mon, but instead it let out a relieved sigh and gently snatched the child off of the boltund's back. For a minute, the Hisuian fox just glared at the tyrogue, but soon its eyes drifted back to Oakley's.
"You did well.." The Hisuian ghost cooed. "I'm aware I need to watch over my child a bit more, but you did the right thing," It then pondered for a few seconds. "Team Bolt.."
Oakley was met with a confused glare from the tyrogue. The boltund walked closer and then cleared her throat. "S-Sorry, it's actually Team Blytz. Penny and I came up with that name a long time ago."
"Ah," The fox gasped slightly. "I see. It's been a wonder seeing you save my child from danger, and I should be more alert of this next time."
"It's my pleasure, Mr. Zoroark."
"Mrs. Zoroark actually." Oakley's eyes shrank and she lowered her head down in embarrassment. "No need to fret, Boltund. Us females are more alert than males."
She opened her mouth to speak some more, but what she hasn't realized is that there was a sneasel right next to the two canines, growing a nervous smile on her face. Vivian was met with a blank stare, and her smile quickly sank into a nervous frown, hoping the beastly fox would just attack her. Instead, the ghostly zoroark gave herself a sigh and placed a paw onto the dark-type's back.
"It's also been a wonder seeing a sneasel so shorter than me." The fox said as she lets go of Vivian's shoulder. "In this town, she's free to stay here as long as she wants."
"That's what Zyma Town's for." Penny started. She was still shocked by the sight of the fox in front of her, but eventually she calmed herself down. "They allow dark types like her as long as they don't get into trouble." The snubbull then cleared her throat. "Like stealing stuff, destroying anything in sight, you name it."
The ghost nodded in response.
"I'm sure Stone Town allows forms like you there, does it?" Vivian asked, but the zoroark nodded in response once more.
"I'm afraid I haven't been to this town before, and I'm deeply afraid they'll put me under arrest if they lay eyes against me." The motherly fox replied sadly. "I have a child with me, and we can't risk losing each other."
"I don't know about that, Penny.." Oakley said blankly. "Last time I checked, Stone Town only allows some ghost-types around, but I can't tell if they allow a certain form like you."
"It's no worry, boltund." The zoroark chirped. "Zyma Town allows all types like us as long as they don't get in trouble."
This made Vivian's smile grow even wider.
"So..that means," The sneasel couldn't help but chirp out of excitement. "I.. I can roam wherever I want? W-With no trouble needed!?"
"As long as you don't get yourself in trouble, exactly!" Penny's frown quickly grew into a smile. "That's what Zyma Town's for!"
The motherly zoroark then asked what the team members' names are, and they all responded, "Adir, Oakley, Vivian, and Penny."
"It's been a wonder seeing you all four, but I shall take my leave for now." Carrying the child in her arms, the ghostly zoroark then makes her leave, unable to let them say anything else before she disappeared into the distance.
As the fox faded out of range, Penny's smile quickly sank. "She never even told us her name!"
"And we never even got a chance to say goodbye either." Adir sighed. "But," He then turned towards Vivian with a happy smile on his face. "At least you're free to roam wherever the town takes you as long as we're here!"
"Just make herself comfortable as long as she doesn't get lost." Oakley chuckled a bit. "I mean, we still need to follow her around whenever she gets far away, but we just gotta make herself a lot more comfortable somehow."
"That makes sense." Adir responded softly. "She's still got some time to heal from that idiot weavile, and she's free to sleep wherever she see's fit." The shiny tyrogue then pondered for a few moments. "There's so much to explore, like-"
Vivian pointed a claw against what looked like a large building just a few meters away from the team. This building in particular resembled what looked like a sushi restaurant, and it looked very similar to the ones in the trainer-world. It had a dark-maroon roof on top, and the rest of the exterior walls were painted gray.
"How about we go there?" Vivian asked as she kept her claw towards the large building in front of her.
Adir stared directly into the building for a moment. At first he wasn't sure what Vivian was here for, and he wasn't sure why the sneasel wanted to take the team there in the first place, but mere seconds away as he was about to talk, he froze and heard his stomach growl in the distance. Oakley jumped at the sound and growled in response, thinking it was another beast there to attack the team itself, but it wasn't just that. It was the tyrogue's stomach instead.
"C-Calm down, Oakley. It's just my stomach." Adir chuckled nervously.
"Y'know, speaking of that.." Penny then stared directly into the exterior walls of the restaurant nearby. "I could go for a real cuisine today. Its been so long since I had one of those."
"But there's berries and-" Right before Adir could suggest the team a trip to the berry farm, Oakley and the others all disappeared into the distance. Growling to himself, he gave himself up and followed the team all the way to the inside of the sushi joint. "Forget it. I could go for something else anyway.."
And that is when Adir was the last to go out of range. The door did nothing to muffle the team's excited rambling.
