"Thanks for walking me home, Kitty," Ladybug said, tucking her arm through Cat's. Her sewing class had run late that day, and even if she could easier get home by herself, she loved any excuse to hang out with her best friend.
A few stray flurries were in the air, but the sun was low in the sky. "Any thing for you, My Lady. And perhaps you'll invite me for meal?" his eyes twinkled with mirth. Ladybug laughed lightly. "You didn't just do this for food, did you?" "Never, plus I want a nice stocking underneath the tree."
Ladybug rolled her eyes. "Oh, Cat! Ow!" she stopped, tugging her arm free, rubbing her sore head and looking up into the branches. "What-" Cat's voice died away as Ladybug put a finger to her lips. "It's that blasted chipmunk again," she growled. "Chipmunk?" Cat was already poised to scramble up a tree, for his urge to chase was strong. "This particular one doesn't like me. Come on, let's-"
A shower of nuts rained down causing them to burst into a run. They stopped a ways from the tree, panting. "That sneaky little nut thrower!" Ladybug growled. "What did I do or any of my kind?"
Then Ladybug paled, looking up at Cat."Oh, no,""What is it?"Cat asked. Ladybug took him by the shoulder and gave them a small shake."What if he gets akumatized and Hawkmoth turns him into a giant chipmunk? Cat, we need to make friends!"
Cat hid his laughter quietly, his lady did tend to exaggerate at times, but he didn't want that either.
"Wait!" Ladybug snapped her fingers. "Maybe he'd like roasted chestnuts, you know like the ones
In the Christmas song. The bakery should have some. Go!"
Cat ran off, and Ladybug sighed. All she wanted was to go home, have a good dinner, and maybe cuddle by the fire?
A whirring sound above her made her look up and she glared. "I don't even eat the same food as you!" she snapped, thinking of her beloved nectar, and she watched surprised as the chipmunk scooted down the trunk, and scampered over.
"Hello," she squatted down, hey, she was supposed to be making friends, right? And the chipmunk was kinda cute.
She was tickling its tummy by the time Cat returned, and she was convinced she made a friend. The chipmunk chattered excitedly when its treat came into view and darted off.
Ladybug smiled, turning to Cat."I think we made peace, but I much rather have a cat as my best friend,"and with that she gave him a good long kiss before turning once again towards home.
