A woman bolted through the shadowed and silent streets of Angel Grove. The only sound is the pounding of her boots echoing through the area. She kept glancing over her shoulder, her paranoia fueled by shadows that didn't seem to belong to her.
The streetlights flickered ominously, one by one. The woman froze, her instincts screaming at her to keep moving but the eerie silence presses down. A hum fills the air, growing louder.
She looked ahead to see several silhouettes in the darkness coming for her. The noise they made as they approached her was not human. She turned and sprinted into a nearby alley. The lights behind her started to warp and twist. The hum turned into a deafening roar.
She looked up to see the source of the noise, a ship. Its sleek surface glinted in the moonlight.
Before she could run, a beam of light grabbed her, encasing her in a pale, shimmering glow. She struggled against it as it pulled her toward the ship. She screamed and cried as she rose higher into the air. Her screams disappeared into the roar of its engines.
The ship took off for orbit, leaving only scorched pavement where they had abducted her.
The rangers sat aboard the Galleon, and images of past rangers were on the screen. Images from the first invasion attempt of the Uzai with the rangers fighting were also on the screen. All the keys were spread out on the table and grouped in their respective teams.
Cody held up the blue RPM key. "While I get that this team is from an alternate universe, these teams don't exist yet." He held up the blue SPD and Time Force keys. "How do we have them? I don't even understand how we have any information on the RPM team."
"There was a crossover event a few years ago," Shawn said. "The RPM red ranger came to this world and teamed up with the Samurai Rangers. Four of the Samurai Rangers were sent to the RPM universe, and data about that team was brought back. As for the future teams, they came back in time to help fight the invasion."
"Okay, that makes sense," Cody said putting the keys back on the table. His eyes lingered on the blue Mystic Force key for a few moments before he stepped away to look at the screen.
"We haven't been here for all that long and there already has been an attempt to take back a ranger key," Kian said. "We have to assume there are other rangers with mindsets similar to Madison's who want their keys back. We will have more ranger run-ins in the future so we have to be on guard when we meet them."
The bridge of the Giga Horse was quiet. The prince was in his quarters with only Obreyan, Dreadnaut, and a few flatheads manning the bridge.
"I think we're going about this all wrong." Obreyan stepped around the console. Dreadnaut stood in front of the command chair but didn't dare sit in it. He knew the prince would throw a fit if he caught anyone sitting in the chair despite it being common practice for the officer in command to sit in the chair.
"What do you have in mind?"
"We have a field commander who specializes in covert and infiltration operations."
"Who?"
The doors opened to allow the new field commander to enter. He was all silver except for the large crimson spiked round skull on his right shoulder.
Dreadnaut stepped toward him. "He can infiltrate the ranger's ship and gather intel on their plans?"
The field commander held out his right hand and revealed a smaller version of the crimson round spiked skull.
"This is my drone. This is what will enter their ship and get all the information we need. It will go completely unnoticed by the Rangers."
Dreadnaut wasn't fully convinced but decided to allow the plan to continue.
Tomomi decided she needed a break after her crash course into Power Ranger history. So much was blurring together such as how the first few teams were basically the same people and then one guy was different colors and came back to join a team years later. It was a lot to take in all at once. She wasn't even sure if she could remember the faces of all the different rangers.
Tomomi disembarked from the Galleon that had taken position above Angel Grove Harbor. The fresh air mixed with the smell of salt from the sea helped clear her head almost instantly. She didn't like being cooped up on the ship for too long. The space travel was bad enough keeping her inside but she wanted to be outside as much as possible.
She strolled along the water's edge watching people go about their daily lives. She wondered what she would be doing if the armada hadn't come to Earth and abducted her thus leading to her becoming a ranger. She wondered if she would've had a boyfriend. There was a guy from one of her classes that had caught her attention. She asked him if he wanted to go out drinking that weekend and he agreed. The next day, the armada attacked and he was killed.
Tomomi let out a huff as she looked up at the sky toward the armada ships in orbit. She turned the corner and headed toward downtown Angel Grove. She decided she'd take a small detour and walk past the high school and go through the park.
Just as she disappeared around the corner, a figure emerged from the alleyway. It was the field commander accompanied by a small group of flatheads. He looked up at the hovering Galleon. Once he was satisfied that he hadn't been detected and that the rangers weren't nearby he pulled out the drone that matched the skull that adorned his right shoulder. He launched the drone toward the Galleon.
He missed.
The drone fell short and went into the water. The flatheads all expressed their disappointment. The field commander could feel all of them staring at him.
He threw the drone again.
He missed.
This time it went wide right. He tried again with the flat heads giving him some encouragement.
He missed.
It went wide left.
He tried again as the flatheads were now bored and waiting for him to succeed. They did various things to pass the time until he succeeded.
He missed again and again.
Finally, the drone landed in the crow's nest of the Galleon. The flatheads, who were all sitting on the ground, applauded his effort. They went back to doing their own thing as they waited for the field commander to carry out his orders.
The field commander mentally controlled the drone as it entered the ship. The drone made its way down the stairs and into the main area of the ship where four of the rangers were spending their time.
"I've got visuals on the Rangers."
"Good," Obreyan said from her station on the bridge. "Keep out of sight and just listen to what they're saying."
