The sun was shining. The birds were chirping, and-

[Dumbass, we're in New York City. What kind of fucking birds would be 'chirping' outside of the window?]

{Pigeons do chirp, ya know!}

-Wade Wilson awoke to the sound of his boxes arguing. Most people would probably be concerned about that last part, but it was normal for the infamous Deadpool. Having slept in his costume last night, he just crawled out of bed and stumbled blearily out of his room. Normally, he would be sleeping until noon, but he had a job to complete today, and he would have to get it done in time for tonight or the others would kill him.

[Not like you don't do a good enough job at that by yourself.]

"Jeez. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today." Wade commented, rubbing his eyes with a yawn. He grabbed his gear, placing his katanas in their sheaths, and grabbing his guns.

{At least you didn't forget this time.}

"Hey! I don't forget that often!" Wade protested, throwing open his window and climbing through it to the fire exit, which he then took to the roof.

[And which out of all three of you holds the record for how long it took for you to arrive after forgetting?]

"Okay, to be fair, I only beat Peter's record by like five minutes, and that's because I was fighting Wolverine!" He ran across the roofs to the docks, where his target hid.

[More like because you decided to throw hands with him.]

"Because he was looking at me weird!"

{He looks at everyone weird!}

Wade paused as his phone rang. "Oh, it's Peter." He stopped to answer it. "Hey, baby boy."

"Hey, Wade," Peter said. "I'm just calling to make sure you'll be on time tonight since it'll be the first time in six months we get to hang out with Percy."

"I know, but this job won't take that long. I'll be totally there on time. I promise."

"I'm holding you to that. See you tonight."

"See you!"

{You will most definitely be late.}

"No, I won't!" Wade shot back, throwing his phone back into his pocket and taking off toward the docks again. He had a job to complete, and he would not be late.

[20$ says he ends up late.]

{Bet.}

"Oh, ye of little faith." With that, he burst into the warehouse and started killing the dumbasses trying to protect his target. "This isn't going to end well for you!" He cheerfully informed them, cutting off one of their heads. He dodged a couple of bullets, laughing as he shot back.

Within half an hour, he had killed all his target's lackeys and had his gun pressed against his target's head. "Nighty night!" He pulled the trigger.

The guy fell to the floor, dead.

"Ha, and see! It's only 3 pm! I still have plenty of time to make it-! Fuck!" He swore as more lackeys swarmed the building.

He lifted his gun.

"Guys! What is this for?" Wade tried reasoning since he really didn't want to be late. "I just killed your boss! You don't have to fight anymore-! Fuck!" He swore again, dodging a bullet and ducking for cover. He pulled out his katanas.

[That never works. You know that never works!]

{So, uh…who's gonna tell Peter?}

"Alright, you asked for this." He snarled, lunging at the lackeys with his katanas outstretched.

Halfway across the country, in California, Acheron yawned, stepping out of the shower. Toweling his hair dry, he pulled on a clean pair of pants.

In his spare duffle bag, he threw his soot and blood-covered gear. His sheathed steel sword and dual handguns were tossed in as well, along with the rest of his gear.

As he re-entered the bathroom, in the mirror behind him, the reflection of a dark and angry brand covering his whole back briefly appeared.

The brand of a traitor.

Before turning to check his appearance in the mirror, he threw on a clean shirt, hiding it. As he turned to glance at the mirror, dark sea-green eyes studied his own appearance. The symbol of Hades flashed at him as he put his necklace back on.

Leaving the bathroom, he packed up the last of his clothes into the other duffle bag. There wasn't much to pack up.

After a sweep, he deemed the rental place clean and emptied. Before leaving, he sent a text to the others, letting them know that he was officially done with this job and on his way back to New York.

Grabbing his duffle bags, he shadow-traveled to his townhouse in New York City. Not even sparing a glance at the cold and empty home, he threw his duffle bags on the floor. He stepped back into the shadows again, reappearing in Peter's apartment. Specifically in Peter's lab.

"Boo!" Percy Jackson shouted, jumping out of the shadows behind Peter, trying to scare him.

Yet, Peter didn't even react. Not even looking, he shot a web at Percy from his web shooter on instinct.

Percy tried dodging it but his delayed reaction time due to sleep deprivation hindered him, and he got hit. "Damn..I'll get you next time, Parker." He grumbled, sitting up, his legs stuck to the floor.

"Uh, huh. Sure. Whatever you say, champ." Peter replied sarcastically, standing up from his chair with a spare dagger in hand. Carefully, he cut Percy free and helped him up, before wrapping Percy in his arms and hugging him for a solid moment.

After a bit, Peter pushed Percy to sit in his chair. While Peter just leaned against his desk and turned to face Percy. "So, how'd it go?"

"All good. Took me a bit to completely wipe out the cartel the client requested removal of, but I eventually managed...with the help of a fire or two." Percy replied with a cheeky grin at the look Peter threw him.

"Do you need medical?" Peter asked, eyeing him suspiciously.

"Does it look like I need medical?" Percy retorted, crossing his arms, his reaction time still a tad slower than usual.

"Looks like you need a nap."

"True." Percy agreed with a yawn.

Peter smiled softly at him, "Why don't you head upstairs? The guest room is all set up for you."

"Okay. Wake me up when Wade gets here."

"Will do."

Deciding to be lazy, Percy melted into the shadows and reappeared in the guest bedroom. He collapsed into it, not even taking his shoes off. A couple of minutes later, he was asleep, a smile on his face.

Back downstairs, Peter groaned. "He could at least take the stairs if he didn't want to make himself even more tired." Since he was standing up, he decided to grab a monster out of the mini-fridge before sitting back down.

His lab was massive and well-stocked, looking more like a chemist's lab than an engineer's lab. Chemistry was always more of his specialty.

Since he owned the entire apartment building, he just renovated it so that his lab was directly beneath his actual apartment and easily accessible. Seeing that he didn't use the rest of the building, he decided to rent out the other apartments. Keeping to himself, he made a nice chunk of change.

Peter went back to tinkering with his web shooters, testing out the retractable poisonous stingers to make sure they worked properly. Sometimes, they got stuck, and he didn't want to accidentally poison one of the others because they malfunctioned. There was a reason he always carried an antidote on him now.

His laptop pinged, and he checked his email. Peter hummed in interest. There was a potential client asking the Black Spider to hack into Stark Industries for some company secrets. He sent them an estimate for his services.

"Stark Industries. Wonder how Stark is doing." Peter muttered to himself, lost in thought.

His phone rang and broke his train of thought. Peter stared at it, annoyed. Then he sighed, picking it up. "This better be a-Hi, Peter. I'm on my way and everything is good, Peter. No issues here, Peter-kinda call."

He could hear Wade laugh nervously, "Well, about that-"

Peter put his face in his hands. "What happened?"

"Well, I killed my target and all his goons, so I thought I was done, but then a shit ton more goons popped out after I killed their boss and tried killing me, even though I told them it was a bad idea and-" Wade rambled.

"Well then, you're in luck." Peter interrupted. "Percy just passed out in the guest room. While he sleeps, you can go pick up takeout by yourself, and then head to my apartment by yourself." Peter said, emphasizing the words 'by yourself.'

"...Yeah okay." Wade conceded. "What do you want?"

"Go get Dominos. Percy loves pizza. You know our usuals." With that, Peter hung up and sighed. "I warned him about taking a job today but nooo, Deadpool can do anything. Deadpool can totally finish it on time. There won't be any issues Peter." He said deadpan, leaning back in his chair and fiddling with a screwdriver.

Halfway across the city, Wade sighed as the call ended.

[Told you. Gimme my $20.]

{Push over.}

"Do you really want to face an upset Peter Parker without a food bribe?"

{...}

[…]

"Exactly."

About an hour later, Wade knocked on Peter's front door with a large stack of pizza boxes in hand. He already had part of his mask pulled up to reveal his mouth.

Percy opened the door with a grin. "Hey there. Heard you got in trouble with the missus and had to bring a bribe to not upset her."

There was a faint and offended "Hey!" that came from inside.

"Guilty as charged." Wade smiled apologetically as he opened his arms.

Percy snorted then went in for the hug.

"Hey, be careful." Wade warned sarcastically, "My life depends on whether or not this food makes it in." Despite his words, he closed his arms around Percy and held him tight.

They stood there for a couple of minutes before Percy stepped back. "We better get inside before the food gets cold, or Peter will get even more upset." He grinned.

Wade grinned back.

The two stepped inside, the door closing behind them. The warm air greeted them.

Peter waved at Wade from his spot on the armchair, his legs crossed. "Finally! I'm starving."

"This would've got here sooner if you just let Percy shadow-travel me." Wade pointed out, handing Peter several pizza boxes from the stack.

"Ah, but you wouldn't have been punished for your sins." Peter retorted with a smirk.

"And which one of us is the runner-up for the longest amount of time it took to arrive after forgetting?" Percy interjected as Wade handed him his pizza boxes. "And it's not like you had an excuse either!" Percy continued, despite Peter opening his mouth to defend himself. "Unlike Wade. You were just downstairs in your lab tinkering!"

"Okay, but you could've just knocked on the door and let me know you guys were here instead of waiting for an hour!"

"Ah, but then that would be cheating, no?" Percy asked, sitting down on the couch.

Wade placed his pizza boxes on the coffee table, and sat down next to Percy, elbowing him over to make room.

"Ow! You know you would have enough room to sit down if you just moved like two inches to the left!" Percy protested, elbowing his back.

"Ah, but I missed you! Why did you have to leave?" Wade said dramatically, leaning his full body weight on Percy.

"Ack! Get off! You're so heavy!" Percy pushed back against Wade, trying to get him off.

Peter laughed, watching the two of them bicker. "You gotta let the man do his thing, Percy! He was suffering without you!"

"But now I'm suffering!" Percy protested with a grin.

"Are you calling me fat?!" Wade demanded.

You know what?

Maybe they have suffered in the past.

Maybe they have forgotten who they used to be.

Maybe they have been forced to evolve into monsters so terrifying that even the big-time heroes leave them alone.

But… if it meant being able to stay as they are now, together, then they'd do it all over again.

Author's Note:

Hey guys, yes it is I, your dear author. Jeez, it really has been seven years, huh? If I may be so honest, I kinda forgot this fic existed. You know how life can be. If you want to thank anyone, thank Liliana Berin for reminding me this fic existed. And you can thank my BFF for cyberbullying me into coming back to this fic lol.

I'm pretty sure you could tell, but this is just a rewrite of the original one-shot I wrote so long ago. Now, I do want to be able to explore these character's origins and how they met each other more, but with how much I struggle with motivation, it's kinda iffy at the moment. I can't make definitive promises about upcoming chapters. I can just say that I'll try because I truly want to explore this universe more.

Also, this will be crossposted to ao3 since I mostly exist there nowadays anyway. Thank you!
