The Sweetest Star Of Our Family
Little Katie crawled around, looking curious as her big brothers were decorating the Daycare for Christmas, which was coming up soon. The baby couldn't understand about the holiday quite yet, but she did like the bright colors her brothers were putting up and she even heard Sun humming a song.
Wanting to hear more of what he was humming, the little one crawled over to the Daytime Animatronic, grasping onto his pant leg and pulling herself up to stand while leaning against his leg. "Bubba?" She asked.
Sun turned and smiled at her. "Hey, Sunshine," he said, picking her up and setting her in his lap. "Bubba's stringing popcorn for the tree."
Her eyes wide, she reached up for his hands, to which he set down the needle he was using and took her hands in his. She curiously looked at the popcorn on the string and tried to put it in her mouth, but Sun gently stopped her. "No, sweetie, this popcorn isn't for eating," he said gently before reaching into his pants pocket and pulling out a small can of puffy crackers that were safe for babies. "Here, you can munch on these."
Katie took the snacks and compared her snack to the popcorn, looking curious. Sun chuckled. "The popcorn does look similar to your snacks, huh?" He asked, finding it amusing but also adorable that the little one was comparing items.
He picked up the needle and continued stringing popcorn while the baby watched. Once he had quite a bit strung, he gently moved it off his lap and to the side before continuing his task. Seeing this, Katie watched and before the pile in Sun's lap got too big, she grabbed it and tried to put it to the side, but couldn't quite reach the bag Sun was putting the finished part of the strand in. Seeing this, the Daytime Animatronic moved the bag closer to his feet. "Drop it in there, Katie," he said encouragingly. "Like when you drop the balls into the ballpit."
He demonstrated and the baby copied him, giggling happily. Just then, a sound of bells came up behind them and Sun stood still with a smile, knowing exactly who was behind him and Katie. "Do you hear that, Sunshine?" He asked.
The two-year-old child looked around, recognizing the sound as Moon's bells, which he would often shake when he was about to approach. It was like a game of 'follow the sound to find Moon'.
The baby looked around, not seeing the Nighttime Animatronic before turning to look up at Sun, who just managed to hide his laughter at how cute his little sister looked when she was curious and a little puzzled as to why she could hear their brother, but couldn't see him.
"Hmm, I hear Moon, but I don't see him, Sunshine," the Daytime Animatronic said.
Moon, who had moved and was hiding nearby on top of the play structure, shook his wrist bells again, seeing the baby perk up and look around as Sun gasped. "Those are his bells," he said to the baby. "Maybe Moon is playing hide-and-seek and wants you to find him, sweetie."
He picked Katie up and gently set her down. Moon shook his wrist bells and the baby perked up again, turning her head to where she thought the sound was coming from, her wolf ears moving a little, which Sun noticed and began recording, seeing the little one's wolf ears moving around as she listened more closely.
Moon smiled, deciding to make this game a bit more interesting. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a bell similar to his own, moving unseen down the play structure and into the play tunnels before he reached the tunnel at the ground floor, shaking the small bell in his hand before setting it down where it could be seen.
Katie honed in on the sound and immediately began crawling to the play structure. Sun followed, seeing what his brother had in mind as he spotted a bell near the entrance of one of the play tubes.
The little one crawled to the tube she had heard the sound come from and found the bell Moon had set down. She picked it up as she sat down and she shook it, hearing it make the same sound she had heard a moment ago. "You found it, Sunshine!" Sun cheered, making the baby giggle and laugh.
Just then, they heard a rubber ducky sound and Katie took off to find it. Moon, seeing how fast she was crawling, chuckled to himself before setting the toy down nearby, hiding and watching as the little one found it, her eyes wide as she saw it had stars on it much like her night-themed brother had on his clothes.
Sun chuckled. "You found a very special rubber ducky, Sunshine," he said.
Moon shook his wrist bells, to which the baby took off to find him, coming across her favorite wolf plushie a moment later and she hugged it tightly, making Sun smile at how cute she was being.
"Oh, Sugardrop," Moon called out sweetly. "Can you find your big brother?"
Hearing his voice, Katie squealed happily and quickly began crawling to where she heard his voice. Sun, still recording, followed and he spotted Moon hiding behind some bean bags nearby and there was a small obstacle course set up that was just the right size for Katie.
"Looks like Moon might be at the end of this obstacle course, Katie," he said. "See if you can find him."
Moon shook his wrist bells once again, to which Katie honed in on the sound and began crawling through the obstacle course, the soft foam squishing underneath her hands and knees, making her giggle. She then came to a cardboard cut out of a door and looked curious before looking back at Sun, who smiled. "Push on it, Katie," he said, doing the 'push' motion with his hands.
Copying her brother, the baby was surprised when the door gave way, giggling as she continued to crawl, following the sound of her brother's wrist bells.
Moon watched as the little one went through the course and was soon halfway through. "You're doing good, Starlight," he said encouragingly. "Come find me."
Giggling, Katie crawled faster, wanting to get to her brother quickly. Sun chuckled. "She's booking it now," he said. "Look at her go."
The baby soon made it to the end and glanced around, but didn't see her brother. She looked confused before sitting down, making Moon chuckle. "Peek-a-boo, Katie," he said.
She turned her head to see the bean bags and she crawled over to them before grabbing onto the bean bags, trying to crawl up them. Sun, seeing this, gave the baby a boost and was ready to help or catch her if she began to fall.
The little one pulled herself up and looked over the edge while Sun gently held her waist to keep her from sliding down head first. She spotted Moon with his back to her and she giggled. "Bubba!" She said, reaching for him.
"Hmm?" Moon asked, raising his head and glancing left to right. "I hear Katie, but I don't see her," he said, covering his eyes with his hands.
Sun chuckled and helped Katie down from the bean bags, setting her down on the floor and gesturing to Moon. "Go get him, Sunshine," he whispered encouragingly to her.
Giggling, Katie crawled over to Moon, grabbing onto his pant leg before pulling herself up and into his lap, looking up at her brother and reaching up for his hands. Smiling, Moon lowered his covered face down to her, letting her grab his hands and pull them away from his face. "Peek-a-boo!" He said in a silly voice.
The baby laughed happily while Sun clapped. "You found him, Katie!" He cheered.
Chuckling, Moon pulled something from his pocket and showed the little one, who gazed at it in awe. It was a small red Santa hat with a bell at the end. Moon placed it on her head and she giggled, reaching up to him with grabby hands, to which he picked her up and held her as she snuggled into his hug, looking content.
Sun, seeing where Moon was sitting, smiled. "Ready?" He asked.
"Ready," his counterpart said.
Sun turned off the Daycare lights and then flipped a nearby switch. The area in front of Moon and Katie lit up brightly and the baby looked up in awe at the big tree in the Daycare that was lit up with both color lights and plain lights. Ornaments that looked like stars, suns, and moons hung from the branches while popcorn strings and tinsel snaked around the tree.
At the very top of the tree was a cute little angel that reminded the two Animatronics of their little sister. "What do you think, Katie?" Moon asked. "Isn't it pretty?"
The baby's wide eyes answered him and he chuckled as Sun smiled. "We wanted to share this with the sweetest star of our family," he said, nuzzling Katie's nose with his own nose, making her giggle happily.
As Katie continued to look at the beautiful tree, Sun and Moon looked at each other. "Best year yet?" Moon asked.
"Best year yet," Sun agreed as both of them hugged their little sister, who giggled as she snuggled into her brothers' hugs, their hearts all filled with warmth and happiness as joy and love surrounded them all in the biggest hug ever.
