Fruitful Endeavor

The Terrarian descends down onto the ground as the metallic remains of the Skeleton Prime falls from above, plummeting and caving into the ground with a boom, forming a crater. With a huff, he sits down as he watches the heart containers and a loot bag enter his inventory.

[Achievement Unlocked!]

[Bucket of Bolts]

Defeat the three nocturnal mechanical menaces; the Twins, the Destroyer and Skeleton Prime

The Terrarian quietly stares into the darkened skies, another boss eliminated. With the three mechanical trio defeated, he gained access to more tools and weapons he can craft. Especially now that he has the Souls of Might, he can forge the True Night's Edge and upgrade his gears. He had been eyeing on the Excalibur on the Guide's recipe repertoire. It'll serve well for the next boss.

The jungle grows restless…

He raises his eyebrows at the message received in his vision. A clear sign of where the next boss is. That's where he goes next, he supposed.

As he stood up, his eyes caught a few lighting sources in the corner of his vision. He turns and looks at a few floating lanterns slowly hovering above. It seems the people of Terraria knew of his triumph, words travel fast alright. The Lantern Night is where people release lanterns to the sky in celebration of a boss defeated. It was peaceful and quite encouraging to see people acknowledging efforts made but for the Terrarian, it only signifies that he wasn't done yet. Until he completes all of the achievements available, he will continue on.

For that is the will of Terraria.

In a dungeon where the Mechanic once held captive as well as a cursed Old Man lies a group of cultists chanting mantras and powering a lifeless tablet. It lays down as small sprites of energy entered it.

The tablet was not usable yet and the accursed Terrarian had destroyed the mechanical parts meant to replace the lost organs of their lord. The leader watched her other members trying their best to power up the lifeless tablet as fast as they could. Should they be any slower, the Terrarian will come for them and kill them all. And that will ruin their plans for the revival of their lord…

The Lunatic Cultist thinks for a moment, how could they solve this problem? The Terrarian was getting stronger faster than they put energy into the tablet. If she does nothing, he will stop them before they could even initiate their plans. But there was nothing she could do now. Facing the Terrarian would be foolishly suicidal, her powers now aren't enough yet to face him head on.

So then…how?

As she was thinking, her eyes wandered off to the decrepit walls of the dungeon. Many books were ransacked, even down to the skeletons and torture devices. But she could see one thing that the Terrarian places randomly on the walls, a trophy of some sort. Her thoughts then went into the many abnormalities that managed to breach Terraria; the Deerclops and the Old One's Army. One might think that it's impossible to do so considering Terraria itself was guarded by the Terrarian Gods. But somehow, one way or another, they slowly entered Terraria like maggots burrowing into a lifeless corpse. Those pathetic excuse of a monster…

Her eyes widened in realization. If they could cross the gaps between realities…that means things from Terraria could also breach other realities. She channeled magic onto her palms, she might need to ask their lord to give her some energy for this new plan of hers.

A devious grin grew under her mask.

And unlike the fools who send their inferior creatures into Terraria, she could seal it completely, disabling any possibility of return. Perhaps with this, she could also seal off Terraria from ever getting breached again.

Andrew was reading a book about the events unfolding during the first invasion of Cthulhu, a creature of unimaginable power. Despite how thick the book was, it gave him no information of this Cthulhu fella other than the fact that it is possibly the most powerful being in the entirety of Terraria. Any info written down were either torn or kept vague by the Order of the Guide. They said that the Impending Doom is unstoppable and nigh at hand. Still, with how quick the Terrarian was in getting stronger, some parts of it might be exaggerated…or that the Terrarian is simply that powerful.

But that info does not help the Terrarian. Andrew had already told him about everything he knows so far. After destroying the idol of the Lihzahrds, he'll be on his own. Besides providing and reminding the Terrarian of the many recipes collected from his ancestors, there wasn't much he could do to help. Andrew guessed that the fight forward would be him alone.

As he was reading, the door opened to reveal the Terrarian in his Titanium armor. His figure was split into three before it reverts back as soon as he stepped into the room.

"..." As per usual, the Terrarian was a man absent of any words.

"Ah, Terrarian. What can I do for you today?" Andrew greeted as he closed his book.

The Terrarian merely opens his palm to show the Souls of Might.

"Oh, the Souls of Might! Perfect, with this, you can forge the True Night's Edge! Don't forget the Pickaxe Axe as well!" Andrew replied as the Terraria merely nods.

The Terrarian spends half an hour asking about recipes for various items before leaving to craft said weapons. As he left, the Merchant came in.

"Andrew, got some weird stuff I bought from the Travelling Merchant. I want you to check how much it'll sell for." He said.

"Augustrus, alright then. Better not be another Angel Statue." Andrew chuckled.

"Don't need to remind me on that one…" Augustrus, the Merchant, sighed before turning his head towards the door as he places an object on the table. "Speaking of reminding, what's the Terrarian up to?"

"Oh, he just defeated the Skeletron Prime and asked me about what he could craft with the Souls of Might." Andrew replied as inspects the object with a monocle.

"Yeah, "asked" or more like just another silence?" Augustrus furrowed his eyebrows.

Andrew lets out another chuckle. "You know how he is."

Augustrus just shakes his head. "Rather than a man of few words, he's just a man of silence."

"To be fair, he does talk time to time." With a click, he puts his monocle away. "You're just weren't there when he does say something."

"All I care is that he got money." Augustrus scoffs.

"He can certainly provide you with that. Oh, and it's a dud."

"Goshdarnit!"

With the Pickaxe Axe, the Terrarian mined through the mud and rocks before coming upon a green ore which reacted heavily to his glowing form. His Titanium armor was replaced with the knightly prestige of the Hallowed armor. His Night's Edge upgraded and he crafted the Excalibur. With this new ore; Chlorophite Ore, he can forge Excalibur into True Excalibur.

As he continued to mine, a strange whisper resounded in his eardrums. He looks around in confusion, even with his incredibly improved sight as a Terrarian, he couldn't see anyone or anything sneaking up on him. It would be impossible to begin with since Terrarian Sight can see most things even down to noticing invisible or incorporeal creatures.

He paid it no mind and continues to look for Chlorophyte Ore and also, Lifefruits.

As the darkness creeps up towards him, the Terrarian is lost in the darkness.

A woman in a tattered military uniform walked across a ruined landscape. Dilapidated buildings can be seen all around her and even some toppled onto another. The haunting hums of the wind squeezing through the gaps of what was once a bustling street serenaded her ears. The silence was a good indicator of the absence of those Rapture scums. A day where she does not encounter any of them is a day she could take a breath and appreciate the silence for once. A peaceful day on the surface is hard to come by.

She took a moment to appreciate the breeze, feeling the cold wind brushing her before continuing on travelling by foot, carrying a large coffin wrapped with chains to keep it sealed.

Perhaps, one of these days, things will get better.

In the far reaches of existence, outside the many confined realities of the outerverse, the Terrarian Gods watched Terraria with a watchful gaze. Their eyes unmoving as they observed the events unfolding inside Terraria.

Just then, a bridge was made in a form of an unstable vortex, cutting through the void and stopping. They remain unmoving when an unconscious form of the Terrarian flies through the vortex. That immediately caught their attention as they wasted no time to put a stop it, only to be enveloped in a strange mist of void. It didn't take too long for them to realize that they were immobilized by the powers of Cthulhu. They broke out soon but the Terrarian was lost in the void, flinging off somewhere in between the many realities.

And then Terraria was encased in a strange but powerful barrier as the many bridges once made by the Terrarian Gods collapsed. It was not only powered by the Lunatic Cultist but even Cthulhu interrupted and cast its own barrier, rendering Terraria unable to be intervened by any Outer Gods. They could only watch as the Avatar of Cthulhu encroached towards the many worlds of Terraria.

The Terrarian Gods gathered around and began finding ways to break the barrier.

Lest the impending doom destroys the very existence of Terraria…

Terrarians

The Terrarians are creatures born (spawned) into Terraria. Their origins remain unknown however, they were beings perfect for slaying. As natural-born slayers, the Terrarians strived to ascend and complete "achievements". Though appears to be human, Terrarians are not humans as they do not need to sleep, eat or drink. They also do not possess human emotions due to the forces of Terraria compressing those emotions in order for them to not be obstructed from their objectives.

Just another idea I have and discussed with a friend. An interesting one in my opinion.
