Subaru felt nervous as he stood in the practice yard definitely not because Ainz was boring holes into him

Ainz looked scary but he was a pretty decent person, especially for a local Devil King or whatever he was back in his world.

"Alright, I'm going to show you something new. I've been working on this for a while."

Ainz raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. "I'll admit that I am intrigued...if you can combine three different types of magic systems "

Subaru smirked, brushing his hair out of his face. "Well, just wait. This is a mix of Shamac and the Magic Arrow. I call it Shamac Shot."

'He should really work on the naming part' Ainz inwardly cringed that name sounded like an alcoholic drink

"It's simple, really. Shamac is about using the shadows and dark energy. And Magic Arrow is all about a focused, sharp projectile. I thought, why not combine them? Use the Yin energy to empower the arrow, and then use Tanya's operation thing to set targets..."

He held out his hand, focusing. His fingers twitched as shadows began to swirl around his palm...then the magic circle appeared Slowly, an arrow formed—dark and ominous, crackling with energy.

The air around it distorted like the air above a hot fire as it slammed with suprising speed toward the target dummy. The arrow struck, the target hook violently, the fabric and wood of it twisting as if affected by some unseen force and immediately a bust of black smoke

Ainz blinked, visibly surprised. "That... was more effective than I expected. It bent the very fabric of the space around the arrow. I could see the disturbance, but not the cause."

"Not bad, huh? I took Beko's help to perfect it...the space wrapping is a side effects of using yin magic...now that you mentioned it Beko did say that Yin magic naturally warps space..."

'That explains why time stop didn't work on him' Ainz slowly processed considering that strong negative energy from Subaru's heart, having a magic that can naturally affect space.. maybe even time (he remembered something about space and time being connected to each other)

Ainz stared at the result of Subaru's new spell. The target dummy was practically destroyed, warped and covered in shifting shadows.

Subaru's grin grew disturbingly wider as he watched the spell's effects linger, still swirling in the air..

'I've always kept my magics separate' Ainz thought to himself 'Each spell serves a different purpose... but now that I think about it, I have the spells... I just never thought to combine them.'

His gaze dropped to his hands, fingers flexing slightly as though he was trying to grasp the idea that had eluded him.

'How had he missed it?'Ainz cursed himself internally. He had learnt spells from Tanya...spells from Yuyun (especially light of saber which he immediately estimated to be equivalent to a seventh tire spell) were right in his arsenal, yet he never considered merging them like Subaru had. There was a moment of frustration, but he quickly masked it.

"Hmm," Ainz said, forcing a nonchalant tone, "I'll have to think about this. Combining different magics could open up new possibilities."

Subaru, still grinning, raised an eyebrow. "Well, I'm not exactly a pro at this magic stuff, but if I can do it, I'm sure you could take it even further."

"That I will...,"

Subaru continued to rattle on about something else, but Ainz was barely listening. His mind was already working, considering how he might combine some of his own spells, creating something more potent, more unexpected. He could practically feel the possibilities opening up before him.

After a good, high stakes, life threatening studies at school, the team would always return to the mansion and resume their daily lives.(Kazuma still never understood how the whole mansion got transported while being fitted with modern bathroom Kitchen and a large TV along with electricity and water supply)

Well, they would be lambasting him for it now, if they weren't sitting with him on the couch, staring at the TV and doing nothing.

Turns out, when you have a nice peaceful life, it starts to get boring. Who knew?

So here they were, back home, doing nothing, slowly going insane from boredom. What a life.

"GYAAAAHHHH, KAZUMAAAAAA!" Aqua suddenly shot up from her seat and yelled into the air,

"Yes, Kazuma speaking"

"THIS IS BORING, AND I WANNA DO SOMETHING!"

"It's shocking for me to say this, but I agree with you. I've always dreamed about living a life away from danger, but now this danger free life is making me want to go on a life threatening adventure." Kazuma honestly answered while questioning his life

"I have to agree with Kazuma on this one." Megumin had Chomusuke in her lap, lightly petting the little feline as she rested her chin on her unoccupied hand in boredom. "It's getting to the point where I can't get any satisfaction from destroying our enemies(training dummies) with Explosion. I need a more powerful, worthy target, but they're becoming harder to find ever since we killed the destroyer."

"You didn't even fight it though "

"I can relate to you, Megumin." Darkness sighed out "I haven't been able to face off against threatening beasts and enemies in such a long time. And those we do face off against just aren't threatening anymore. All I have is my imagination to help me pass the time."

"Please don't start describing things."

They all sighed in boredom. There was nothing they could do that they hadn't already done. They needed an idea, a plan, a personal quest. It was getting to the point where even Kazuma was seriously considering hunting down a dangerous beast, perhaps another Destroyer? Maybe he could do that while drunk, then perhaps they could actually kill the damn thing when they worked together? They were an elite team of adventurers. The girls would make things so much easier.

"I think I'm going insane." Kazuma muttered with a blank stare on his face.

"Well… why don't we make our own fun?" Aqua suggested out of the blue. It worked in getting the others attention, and Aqua continued with her idea. "What if instead of doing the same boring stuff we always do every reset, we go do something unique, like… "

Subaru sat in his chair, trying to ignore the unease creeping up his spine. Across from him, A woman, as perfectly white as a field submerged in virgin snow. Her hair is long enough to span down to her back, pure white as frost. The few areas where her skin is exposed reveal her flesh to be so beautiful as to be nearly transparent. Her eyes host an intelligent gleam, and only her simple outfit is pitch-black

Most anyone would be charmed by her at first sight—but Subaru, sitting face to face with her was not

To Subaru his entire body assaulted with an overwhelming terror of a like he's never experienced before. Even more intense than when he'd first encountered the White Whale.

The woman's hair sways as she narrows her eyes, and she immediately gives a small, perfunctory nod.

"Excuse me. I haven't given you a single introduction of who I am. Sorry for these piling discourtesies. It's been a long time since I've had contact with people, so it seems I'm not quite back to form." Different from the tone of her voice, her expression barely changes at all as she shakes her head. She looks at Subaru, who continues to suppress his shivering, as she places her hand to her chest and quietly introduces herself.

"My name is Echidna. But maybe you'd understand it better if I introduced myself as the Witch of Greed?"

A gasp from Emila distracted Subaru

Currently he Emilia, Puck ,Reinhardt and Julius were seated in a lush green garden outside Echidna's house (mansion) for tea

The atmosphere warps, and the atmosphere of blue skies and green fields instantly starts collapsing. The sky shatters, the field catches flame, the world beyond he horizon progressively collapses. Feeling a non-existent jolting, Subaru hurriedly reaches his hand to the indeed existent table. The second he touches it, it breaks apart in his hand like grains of sand.

"So, you're mad at us?" Subaru asked, trying to sound casual. He couldn't help but feel the weight of her gaze, though. It was like she was analyzing every little movement he made, and it was starting to get under his skin. "For killing the Archbishop of Sin, I mean?"

Echidna's lips twitched, a small smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "Angry? You misunderstand me," she said softly, her voice almost too smooth. "I'm not angry if anything I am jealous..."

"Jealous ?"

"Having killed the representative of Sloth. His witch factor was transferred over to you...you are as of now having two single authorities " She leaned forward, eyes never leaving his. "how else do you think I would react to such a thing aside from Envy"

"You have a what!?"

"I really don't think have any authority is a good thing "

"That's what makes it so curious if all the people you are chosen to have this authority if the witch's cult heard about this they will probably make an archbishop "

"Yeah...no thank you I am not joining those shitty basterds ever"

It tastes black tea mostly there was a hint of a mystery flavour. But nothing unpleasant.

"You certainly are brave, drinking up something offered to you by a witch."

Reinhard, standing a little behind them, shifted

"Though, it really does hurt that I'm being treated so cruelly. You know I am just what I appear, a weak little girl? When a man looks at me with eyes like that, it's definitely not that I don't get ideas."

"You know that 'little girl' of yours has DEATH FLAG written all over it? Just saying, my sense of caution hasn't been anything ordinary for quite a while."

"You're not wrong my lady but we can't just ignore the fact that you are the Witch of Greed." Julius gritted his teeth, clearly not thrilled by the act.

Echidna's gaze snapped to Julius, her smile widening. "Yes, the Witch of Greed. But you make it sound like greed is a bad thing." She tilted her head. "I'm simply... curious. I want to understand the world, to push the limits of what's possible. And Subaru, you are a fascinating subject."

"I think maths is way more interesting...you can definitely have fun learning all those confusing equations"

"Of course I don't mean to just study you without your consent I am willing to offer you a contact "

Subaru frowned. "You want me to... what? Strike a deal with you?" The thought made his skin crawl. He didn't trust her, not for a second.

Echidna's smile didn't falter. "Exactly. I offer you knowledge, power, and guidance. You need me, Subaru. We both do."

"Don't listen to her. She's a greedy, manipulative, untrustworthy bi..witch." Puck hissed

"I am hurt...That no way to speak to your mother "

"Wait mother!?" Emilia asked suprised

"Yes,after all I am the one who created this spiteful cat " She looked at her son(?) who was glaring daggers at her

"Hey ,Echidna how old are you ?" Subaru finally asked

Echinda smile faltered and then she pouted "It's really rude to ask a maiden's age you know "

Naofumi ( Now the official best research assistant of magic club) crossed his arms, glaring at Seiya as the latter meticulously set up what appeared to be an elaborate, multi-layered defensive barrier around the academy's training grounds. The walls glowed with runic inscriptions, and Seiya muttered calculations under his breath as he adjusted the angle of a floating gem that Naofumi had crafted.

"This is ridiculous," Naofumi grumbled "You've been at it for an hour. We're just putting up a simple protection barrier, not fighting an army."

Seiya didn't glance up. "Underestimating a situation leads to disaster. This is basic strategy."

"Oh, come on," Naofumi said, throwing up his hands. "What's the worst that could happen?"

As if summoned by those cursed words, the sky above them darkened, then turned blood red with taces of orange and green, an ominous whirring sound filled the air. Both heroes paused, glancing skyward as a rift split open. Black mist poured out, followed by an unending wave of grotesque monsters spilling into the training grounds.

Naofumi sighed heavily. "You've got to be kidding me."

He just figured out who was the other entity helping Being X the one behind the waves

A/N according to the author, Subaru could learn how to use other types of magic if he dedicated his life to it so it is possible for him to learn basic spells like tier 1 spells or how to use a operational orb

Also in the novels Subaru is capable of using spiritual arts with Beatrice, and is thus able to use Yin Magic with her aid. He has also created a number of original spells with her, unique to the pair...so yeah he is capable of creating an entirely new spell like Shamac shot... Check the Re: zero wiki fandom.
