Ellie had noticed Gabby trying to get closer to Grett lately. Earlier this morning, Gabby told her that she was going to ask Grett to go catch some rays at the beach so they could hang out. Ellie didn't really get it at first but after remembering what she saw going on between Grett and Yul at the Losers Motel, she understood immediately why Gabby was doing this and she was not going to stop her.
Until then, Ellie knew she needed to start building up a social game with pretty much anyone else in this camp. Yul was obviously a no-go, once Ellie had the chance she was immediately voting him out. Jake, Tom, and Aiden all seemed to despise her so that option was out of the window. She could build a standing with Alec and Riya, but she didn't really trust them. What to do? What to do?
"Hey Ellie." A female voice broke Ellie out of her thoughts as she turned around to see that Ally was behind her. This made Ellie raise an eyebrow, wasn't Ally a hero?
"Uh… hi. You're Ally right?" Ellie asked curiously.
"Yep, I'm guessing Tess mentioned me at some point. It's nice to meet you for the first time." Ally smiled warmly as she held a hand out but Ellie raised a skeptical eyebrow at this. Since when did Ally take an interest in her of all people? Nonetheless, she may as well be civil.
"It's nice to meet you too, I heard a lot about you and Hunter from your season." Ellie shook hands with the gamer girl, "I gotta admit though… I'm a little surprised you're talking to me. Aren't you in the heroes' alliance?"
Ally's eyes shifted nervously when she heard that, she didn't want Ellie knowing the real reason why she was talking to her after all but she didn't want to reveal how she really felt about being a hero. However, she's seen Ellie's season, and figured that if she was going to get Ellie to warm up to her, she needed to be truthful with her.
"I… honestly don't see myself as a hero. I don't really fit in with them and I'm mostly in the alliance so the fans will appreciate me more. After all, having fans is beneficial to me when it comes to my streaming career and ever since season two, I got a lot of hate comments." Ally confessed solemnly.
"Why do you care so much about what the fans think? Personally, they haven't really done me much good other than sending me death threats every chance they get." Ellie asked with some bitterness in her tone which made Ally widen her eyes.
"Th-They did what?" Ally asked in shock.
"Ever since my actions on season one, I got a lot of flak online after the show ended for breaking up Tom and Jake saying how I should've never been casted, my appearance on screen made them want to vomit, and that I don't deserve love. It's kind of what led me to trash everyone in my post game interviews." Ellie explained bitterly which caused Ally to give Ellie a look of sympathy.
"I'm so sorry that happened…" Ally spoke sincerely which made Ellie's gaze soften a little before it hardened.
"It's fine, I learned to tune them out and focus on what matters in my life. They don't know me, so why give them the time of day. The only people whose opinions matter to me are the ones who I'm close with." Ellie hand waved.
"Does that include Tess?" Ally asked curiously.
"Even though she voted me out, I don't hold any grudges with her so yeah, I say she counts." Ellie nodded.
"She told me she didn't want to vote you out, she was just concerned for you. She thought the game was unhealthy for you." Ally explained softly.
"Yeah… I'm aware." Ellie sighed solemnly, "I… wasn't the best girlfriend this season."
"What do you mean?" Ally asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I lied to Gabby about the Villains' Alliance when it was first exposed and then I continued to lie about it, I wanted to tell the truth but I was so scared that she wouldn't approve and that we'd be torn apart because of it." It took Tess telling me that Gabby found out the truth herself for me to actually confront my actions and talk to her about it." Ellie admitted with some tears in her eyes before she wiped them off and spoke in a calmer manner. "I'm… really grateful she was understanding about my lie but now that I'm back, I'm not going to risk losing her again because I love her."
"Awwwwwwww. That's so sweet." Ally smiled tearfully causing Ellie to blush. Ally soon noticed a purple mark on Ellie's neck which made her eyes widen and gasp happily.
"What?" Ellie raised an eyebrow.
"What's that on your neck?" Ally asked teasingly which caused Ellie to blush beet red and immediately use her hand to cover her neck.
"Gabby… was really happy to have me back so we decided to have our first…" Ellie stammered incoherently.
"Don't worry, I won't say a word." Ally reassured the ginger, causing Ellie to smile thankfully.
It was now sunset and the challenge was now afoot. All of the final ten stood together as Kristal began the challenge announcement.
"Welcome. You guys ready for your next immunity challenge?" Kristal smirked.
"Uh… what about me and Ellie? We already have immunity." Gabby asked curiously.
"I was getting to that. As you all remember, Ellie and Gabby are safe from next elimination. However, they will still participate in today's challenge. If they win, they can give their immunity win to an extra person tonight. Now that we got that out of the way, today's challenge is a nice game of Keep Away. In the forest, there is a flag which you must all fight for and in four hours, I will blast my airhorn and whoever has the flag wins immunity." Kristal said happily, "You may use any resources necessary to take the flag. Get creative, now go!"
Once the air horn went off, groups began forming immediately with Ellie and Gabby, Grett and Yul, Alec and Riya, and Jake and Aiden all running together while Ally and Tom ran off on their own.
Later that night, Jake and Aiden found themselves running together when Aiden decided to speak up.
"Hey Jake, we gotta talk about strategy for next elimination. Now that the villains outnumber us, we need to find a way for us to get the upper hand." Aiden told the blue haired boy.
"We could try flipping Gabby-" Jake began before Aiden shook his head.
"Won't work. She has Ellie back now and I don't think they plan on flipping against the villains anytime soon." Aiden reminded him.
"Let me finish, I was going to say we should get Gabby and Ellie to flip. As nasty as Ellie can be, she is very strategic and deep down I know that she realizes sticking with the villains is a bad idea." Jake told the bi-color haired boy, "She may not like us, but she has shown she can put her feelings aside for the sake of the game."
"Do you really think they'll flip?" Aiden raised an eyebrow.
"The villains are likely targeting Tom next elimination. I'm sure at least Gabby will consider it." Jake nodded firmly.
"If you say so…" Aiden said nervously.
Meanwhile Ellie and Gabby themselves were walking together for the flag. Kristal had just recently announced that there were fifteen minutes remaining which made them keep their eyes peeled, or at least Ellie was keeping her eyes peeled, Gabby was currently on a rant.
"Ellie, I have a new target. I'm so sick of Yul. We need to get rid of him." Gabby said angrily.
Ellie could definitely see where Gabby was coming from, she absolutely detested Yul as much as any person would but she knew that tonight wasn't the right time.
"Gabby, I know he's annoying but I don't think we can eliminate him tonight." Ellie told her girlfriend.
"Why not? He's so rude to Grett. We can't allow him to do that. How would you feel if… if Hunter did that to Tess?" Gabby asked incredulously which made Ellie falter a bit before Riya walked over but she did not have a flag.
"What's going on here?" Riya asked in confusion.
"I want Yul gone. He's treating Grett horribly but Ellie won't go for it." Gabby explained bitterly.
"And if you were a good girlfriend, you'd listen to her because she is absolutely right." Riya said angrily, "We need his vote. For now, we get out Tom. He got rid of your girlfriend after all and if it weren't for the comeback episode, you'd be alone."
Gabby looked away nervously at that but before she could speak up, Ellie did.
"Gabby, trust me, Yul's time will come eventually but right now, we need to dismantle the heroes' alliance and Tom is the biggest threat right now. I highly doubt he's just going to keep us around after all we've done in the past." Ellie said warily.
Before the conversation could go on, the airhorn went off which alerted Riya, Ellie, and Gabby that they had to head to the clearing.
"We'll finish this discussion later." Riya crossed her arms which made Ellie feel nervous, mostly for Gabby's sake.
Once the final ten all made it back to the clearing, Kristal had announced that Alec had won immunity along with Ellie and Gabby and would also be having a gourmet dinner along with any person of his choice.
Yul and Riya had both made themselves clear on how much they wanted the dinner but what surprised Ellie was Alec's next words.
"Well… one of the few people I feel won't be getting voted out anytime soon is Ellie so I choose her." Alec smiled at the ginger which made her and Gabby widen their eyes.
"But we just… she just came back." Gabby said angrily before Ellie calmly held her hand.
"Gabby, don't worry. It's just for dinner. I'm sure we can spend time together afterwards." Ellie smiled reassuringly at her girlfriend who sighed but smiled back.
"Okay, I understand." Gabby said happily.
After the challenge, Ellie ended up finding herself walking towards the beach. Riya told her that she wanted to meet with her and while Ellie didn't particularly care for the actress, she knew it would be better not to anger her when she just came back even if she had immunity this round.
Soon, she came face to face with Riya who seemed not so happy at the moment.
"I take it you know why we're meeting." Riya crossed her arms.
"Look, I get Gabby can be emotional at times but I can convince her not to vote for Yul." Ellie told the actress as civilly as she could.
"Good. The last thing we need is the heroes gaining more control over this game. I've seen how they look at you Ellie, we both know they won't be merciful to us if they get even the slightest edge in this game." Riya reminded the ginger who winced a bit at Riya's furious attitude.
"I'm guessing the plan is still Tom tonight?" Ellie asked.
"Who else would it be?" Riya scoffed.
"Got it. I'll be sure to tell Gabby." Ellie nodded firmly before walking off.
Gabby didn't know why but she couldn't shake these negative feelings off her back. Ever since Ellie's elimination, she had been feeling very alone and like a dark cloud was brewing in her head. She thought Ellie coming back would fix things but now she can't even help Grett deal with Yul at the moment and Riya and Ellie both want her to vote off Tom right now. Truth be told, Gabby wasn't even mad at him for voting off Ellie anymore and he was a nice guy. He certainly deserves to stay more than Yul does.
Gabby couldn't help but feel like she was about to cry. Why couldn't she just stay positive?
Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice.
Meanwhile Ellie had been searching all over camp for Gabby. Ever since her meeting with Riya, she felt like she needed some time with her girlfriend to talk about the vote and to spend time together in general but she couldn't seem to find her.
Suddenly, she felt a tap on her back and she turned around to see Ally standing behind her with a concerned expression.
"Ally? Do you need something because I need to find Gabby?" Ellie asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I just want to let you know that the heroes are voting for Riya tonight and that we want you and Gabby to join us." Ally explained to the ginger.
Ellie immediately knew what this meant. She and Gabby were in the swing vote position tonight. Great, more stress to add to a stressful night.
"Ally, I'm tired right now. I'll think about it but just know that you're not on the chopping block tonight." Ellie grunted.
Ally nodded in understanding before walking off. Ellie then turned back to searching for Gabby only to find Gabby walking up to her.
"Ellie, I think I'm ready to vote." Gabby said nervously which had Ellie raise an eyebrow in concern but she didn't get a chance to ask since it was time for the elimination ceremony.
The final ten sat on the stumps after voting. Trevor was hosting tonight's elimination ceremony due to Kristal having plans.
"Once the votes are read. The decision is final. The person voted out must leave the ceremony immediately." Trevor announced.
"First vote: Riya."
"Tom."
"Riya."
"Tom."
"Riya."
"Tom."
"That's three votes Tom, three votes Riya. Four votes left."
Riya gave a side eyed gaze to Ellie while Ellie refused to look her way.
"Tom."
"Riya."
Gabby seemed almost despondent when she heard the next votes but Ellie patted her shoulder in comfort.
"Tom."
"Person voted out of Disventure Camp is… Tom. That's six votes, it's time to go." Trevor told the officer who sighed miserably while Aiden and Jake looked especially saddened by this news.
"I'm sorry Tom. I just want me and Ellie to… make it far together." Gabby said solemnly as she stood up to apologize to Tom who smiled when he heard this."
"Don't worry Gabs. You played the game well." Tom reassured her before giving the girl a hug.
"Thanks for being my friend." Gabby sighed contentedly before Tom turned to his fellow hero alliance members.
"This sucks… I guess I'll see you soon Tom." Jake said sadly.
"I really thought this was the night for us." Aiden sighed.
"Don't count yourselves out yet guys. Keep on fighting. Aiden and Ally, it was a pleasure meeting you… and Jake…" Tom said before grasping Jake's hands in his own.
"I promise when this is over, I'll finally clear the air. You won't have to worry about me dodging you anymore. Sorry about the pain I caused Jake." Tom said sadly.
"Tom… I…" Jake began tearing up but before he could continue, Trevor interrupted, cutting their goodbye short and forcing Tom to head to the bus.
"Also Alec and Ellie, your private dinner awaits you." Trevor said happily once Tom left the scene.
"Awesome. I'm starving." Ellie smiled enthusiastically.
"This night just keeps getting better and better." Alec smirked in Ellie's direction and Gabby couldn't help but clench her fists at the sight.
It's just for dinner. It's just for dinner. It's just for dinner.
But why did it feel like more than that?
Author's Note: Even though Ellie and Gabby are reunited, it's not all sunshine and rainbows as you can tell. I didn't go over all the characters and plots in the episode since this is not a comp-fic, this is a fic centered around the effects of Ellie's return. Some characters will have their POVs shown but the main focus is Ellie and Gabby.
