Chapter 10
Musutafu late in the morning
There was a tradition in the city where U.A and Izuku Midoriya resided. Once the morning ended every single person would hit the streets and the town would fill itself with noise and rumbles generated by the same citizens.
But today it was different. Today instead of the normal sounds that the people of Musutafu generated there was only one sound that could be heard all around. This was the sound of every police men and woman heading toward Fisk Tower with purpose.
Today the raid had begun. And Yuri's stress hadn't been this high since the first day she had quit smoking. Fisk had been waiting for them. He knew they were coming and had met them with full force. And they were having trouble breaking into the tower.
She wanted to play it by the books and use only cops. She didn't know how many heroes Fisk had in his pockets so she wouldn't risk it by calling a hero agency. And besides, as much as she hated to admit it, there was only one hero she could trust.
But she didn't want to trouble him with this, she wanted to bring Fisk down with just the police force. But it was proving harder than she thought.
"Captain Yuri," A police officer said approaching Yuri to get her attention. She didn't want to turn back as she knew, just from the police tone, that it was bad news.
"What is it?" She said still hoping for the best but still ready to face whatever it was
"A truck full of Fisk goons has been sighted. And it's coming here at very fast speeds," The officer said and Yuri cursed mentally.
They had called for backup. This was really the worst scenario possible. Her hand instinctively went to her phone. An unconscious action. She looked down and wondered if she should call him.
But her decision was taken from her as she started receiving a call on her phone. She felt a bit of relief when she saw the contact named "Pain in my ass" pop up.
She quickly answered the phone while glaring at the tower ahead of her. Her hopes raised a bit when she heard his voice.
"Yuri what the hell? I thought we were going good and now you're ghosting me? Was it something that I did?" She heard his sarcastic voice speak and she wanted to laugh, but this wasn't the time for jokes
"Are you coming here?" She asked fully serious as Spiderman turned serious just by the tone of her voice
"I am. How are things up there?" He asked as Yuri looked around taking the whole situation in
"Not good." Yuri said as she turned her eyes to the roads that led towards Fisk Tower "Fisk called for backup. Can you handle that?" Yuri asked hopefully while thinking of a way to get into the building
"Consider it done Yuri," Spiderman said as he hung up the call. He turned to the tight mid-wing and changed directions to where the backup was coming from "Don't turn into a liar now Izuku," He whispered to himself.
He swung through his hometown city following the sounds of police sirens. He landed on top of a building and perched himself on its edge. He looked down and saw a police blockade blocking the streets below.
Then he turned to his right when he heard a truck's tires drifting into the street "Ally?" He asked out loud wondering if this was the backup that Yuri had told him about
"Yep. According to my scans. Truck was stolen yesterday and if we trace its direction it's heading towards Fisk Tower." She responded and Izuku frowned in deep thought
"He's not going without a fight huh?" Izuku wondered out loud as the truck approached the blockade "Well then. Maximum effort." He whispered to himself as he jumped down towards the truck
He landed very quickly on top of the truck and crawled towards the pilot's window. He knocked on the window and told the driver, who oddly enough, was wearing an orange prisoner uniform. Maybe Fisk's backups were previous goons he had arrested.
"Um excuse me," He said as the driver glared at him and Izuku saw him reaching for a gun "The orange is the new black convection is not this way. Are you sure you aren't lost?" He said before punching the window and breaking it in the process
He grabbed the thug by his shirt and hit the wheel with the goon's head. He quickly grabbed the thug and threw him outside. He threw a web to the goon's chest without looking tying him to a wall nearby.
He then moved the wheel to its right in a sudden movement causing the vehicle to drift to the left and Izuku jumped back avoiding the incoming crash.
The truck crashed and tumbled ahead of him. He landed in front of the police blockade waiting to see if anybody exited the ruck "Spiderman? What are you doing here!?" One of the policemen shouted as Izuku turned his head back to look at the one who shouted
"I was in the neighborhood. Thought I'd give you guys a hand," He said trying to calm the people behind him. He could tell they were quite nervous. Facing criminals head-on was not something you do regularly.
Then he had to turn his head around as the door on the back of the truck exploded. And from inside the truck, eight goons dropped down. And Izuku could tell that every goon was feeling quite annoyed by how things had turned.
"Get out of our way Spiderman," One of the goons said. The bulkiest and tallest of them all and Izuku figured he was the leader of this little operation.
"No can do," Izuku said cheekily while crouching down and putting his guard up "Now how about you guys turn yourselves in huh? I have a date with your boss and I do not want to be late," Izuku asked trying to end this quickly. The leader grumbled and looked at his criminal partners.
"Kill the bug. Boss would kill us if we're late," He said as two goons pointed their goons at him and Izuku quickly sprung into action.
He sent two short webs to the barrels of the guns to stop them from shooting at him. Then he sprinted forward and sent a web string to the face of the goon closest to him. He yanked his arm back bringing the goon towards him then with his other hand he grabbed the goon's face and pushed him to the ground making him go unconscious.
But he had to react fast as another rushed towards him trying to hit his face. Izuku jumped back avoiding the strike and then spun around kicking the goon in the stomach with the heel of his foot.
The goon was sent flying away into the truck's door. Then three other goons rushed towards him trying to bring him down and one of them was the leader. But he reacted quickly and swept the legs of the goon closest to him.
He jumped into the air and sent a web string to the falling goon to bring him into the air with Izuku. This tactic allowed him to make sure the goons didn't have time to react.
In mid-air, he struck the goon three times to make sure the goon had fallen unconscious. He then let him fall to the ground. Then he sent a web string that connected to one of the gun-holding goons. He propelled himself forward and kicked the goon in the face.
The goon that he had sent crashing into the door of the truck had started to get up. And Izuku saw this under his peripheral so he sent a short burst of web to tie him into the truck.
He sprinted forward and punched the goon in the jaw. He moved around the goon and swept his legs making him tumble around. He jumped over the goon and sent two webs at the goon tying him to the ground.
Four left he noticed. Counting the leader of the group. He cracked his neck as he landed and then he rushed forward.
He dodged and jumped to the left avoiding the incoming tackle from the leader. The leader crashed into the truck while Izuku leaped forward and did a roundhouse kick that connected with another goon. He put a little bit more force since this was taking too long for his liking.
Two of the three remaining goons jumped Izuku intending to take the Superhero down. But his Spider-senses kicked in and he moved down avoiding both strikes. While moving down he bent his knees and leapt forward. To strike the goons down. He kicked a goon in the stomach and with the momentum he flipped around sending a web string to the other goon's leg.
He grabbed the goon and threw him into the other goon's chest. Then, in the same movement, he shot two webs at the goons, trapping them on the floor and leaving only the leader.
Izuku looked up as the leader growled in annoyance and he saw the brute's arms starting to turn rock solid. His quirk Izuku figured but he didn't have to wonder too much about it as he had to dodge another tackle.
He wasn't going to beat this man by brute strength so he needed a new strategy. He looked around while avoiding the strikes. Then he found an idea.
He jumped in the air, landed in front of a building, and waited. The thug rushed at him just like he had done multiple times now. But then, instead of dodging. He jumped upwards and pushed the thug into the wall.
He wasn't Rhino. He didn't have the constitution to support this kind of traumatic damage. So when the thug's face crashed into the wall he immediately fell unconscious.
"Yeah! Nice work Spiderman!" One of the cops shouted and Izuku turned towards him. He gave him a nod and was about to say something but an explosion stopped him in his tracks.
That explosion came from Fisk Tower. That was all that Izuku could think of before jumping and swinging in a rush toward that direction.
"Yuri are you alright!?" Izuku practically shouted when Yuri answered his call. The least he wanted was for something bad to happen.
He heard Yuri cough a bit before responding "Yeah I'm alright. Those bastards had a rocket launcher," Yuri said as Izuku approached the building "We do have some good news. Apparently, the normal amount of thugs is not here. This a relatively small force of manpower," Yuri said confusing Izuku a bit.
"Meaning?" He asked
"Meaning that if we had someone with a quirk this could be an easy job," Yuri started explaining and Izuku could see the building in the distance "So I hate to ask. But can you take it from here?" Yuri said as she saw Spiderman swinging above her hope starting to fill her once more
"You got it. Let's take down that bastard," Izuku said cutting the call off and narrowing his eyes to the man with the rocket launcher "Hey man what's with the fireworks!?" Izuku shouted while grabbing the thug from behind "It's not even New Year yet!" Izuku said breaking through one of the windows.
There he saw at least 10 thugs with guns shooting at him. He swung forward and threw the thug into another knocking them out cold.
He then flipped back and landed on top of another criminal taking care of him quickly "Um excuse me. Where is customer service?" Izuku said avoiding a strike to his head "I bought a TV last month and it started malfunctioning," Izuku said kicking a thug in the stomach and sending him away
"I thought it was best if I came here and placed my complaint," Izuku said pulling a thug down from a web string "So can you point me to where the manager is? I have serious business with him." Izuku said flipping around and hitting the back of the head of another thug. "How else am I supposed to catch up with House of Dragon?" He said while trapping two thugs in a web
Then a thug rushed forward and Izuku jumped back "So what are you team black or team green?" Izuku asked much to the confusion of the thug "You see," Izuku said kicking the leg of the thug and then his face knocking him out cold "I'm team black obviously but I find team green more interesting." Izuku said jumping up and kneeing a thug in the face
"Is that what you call an entertainment paradox? Or is it just good writing?" He wondered out loud while taking one of the two remaining thugs out "Or perhaps that's what the writers want me to feel," Izuku said before letting a gasp and looking up to the roof abruptly a thing that shocked the remaining thug
"Maybe they just want me to find them interesting so I can still be invested. Oh, they're good." Izuku said before turning towards the thug "So do you understand my urgency now?" Izuku asked while tilting his head.
The thug just saw his teammates being taken care of quite easily while the vigilante just rambles on about a TV show. So he did the most logical thing he could do. He threw away his gun and ran from the scene.
"Huh?" Izuku said throwing a web connecting to the back of the thug and tying him to the ground.
"You did it again," Ally said appearing next to Izuku who was looking around trying to see if there was more trouble "This is why I'm glad you're not a regular hero. Public would eat you alive if they found out what you say between fights," Ally said getting a snort out of Izuku.
He jumped landing in front of the elevators which seemed to be out of order "Not true. People actually like this type of quips. According to a BuzzFeed note that is," Izuku said missing the roll of eyes that Ally did "You scanned the place yet?" Izuku asked changing the subject as Ally teleported herself in front of him
"I did. Place is crawling with Fisk thugs," Ally said as Izuku's visors suddenly were filled with the info Ally was presenting "But they are gathering in two specific locations. One group is here. Just at the top protecting an office down the howl of the top floor," Ally said as Izuku looked up.
"Probably where Fisk is," Izuku said narrowing his eyes at the top "And the other?" He asked as Ally put another image to his sight-
"Server room. They couldn't be more obvious could they?" Ally said with a sarcastic snort and Izuku put his hands on the cracks of the elevator.
"Then we have our first stop," Izuku said ripping the doors open with a huff before jumping into the elevator shaft "Let's start in the server room and make our way to the top," Izuku said as he started crawling up the elevator shaft.
He got to the floor leading to the server room and quickly entered the vents to take a shortcut to the server room.
"Who knew that someone as dirty as Fisk would keep his vents so clean?" Izuku wondered out loud as he started hearing conversation alone
"Maybe is an overcompensation," Ally offered as Izuku crawled forward. Then he slowed down when he started hearing conversation up ahead of him.
He looked down and from a vent entrance, he saw several thugs inside the server room talking about deleting all the files on the servers.
He carefully and quietly removed the vent door shot a web to the thug just below him and tied him to the roof of the vent.
Then he dropped below as the thugs turned around and faced Spider-Man. "You know that there's incognito mode, right?" Izuku said, sending two webs and trapping two thugs to the wall.
"Did someone order something they shouldn't have on company time?" he asked while kicking someone into the air and knocking him out cold. "Then I get the urgency. I shall pray you find new jobs," Izuku said, leaping towards a thug and sending him into the wall.
"I do wonder though," Izuku said dodging a pair of water and electric bullets "How is it that you find these jobs?" He asked a bit confused while dragging a thug face-first into the ground
"Like, is there a LinkedIn made specially for criminals?" He asked jumping in between two thugs and then twirling around sweeping their legs in the process.
"Or is it like a scouting thing?" Izuku asked while jumping up and avoiding a punch from the last thug "You do something shady and you get offered a job?" He asked as the thug gave him a glare.
"Shut up Spider-man. You're so fu-" He started speaking but then a web closed his mouth.
"Ah-ah-ah," Izuku said jumping upwards "No cursing in company property. It goes against company policy," He said slamming the thug down and knocking him out cold.
He checked the area around just in case there was another thug around. When he didn't find anyone he jumped to the main computer of the server room.
"You try and stop the process while I download the files," Izuku said placing his hand on the computer and sending Ally into the servers.
In the process of doing this, the server cameras above him turned on "Hiding in the server room? How cowardly of you," Izuku heard a voice make fun of him and turned up to see Fisk looking down at him.
"Says the man frantically erasing his search history," Izuku said focusing on the task at hand "Why don't you save me the process and just tell me what kind of kinky you're into," Izuku said before "I don't judge," He said cheekily as the kingpin groaned in annoyance.
"I really thought you were a real threat. Turns out you're just an ignorant child," Fisk said and Izuku just shrugged his shoulders.
"It's just part of my charm," Izuku said pressing a button that downloaded all the documents to his personal space. And as Fisk cursed about that predicament Izuku sent those documents to the police "Don't be so irritated Wilson, I'll be up there soon. Wouldn't want to miss our date," Izuku said turning around and missing the sneer Fisk sent him.
"Good luck with that, Spider-Man," Fisk said, turning the feed off. Then, as Izuku turned back in confusion, his spider-sense went off, and he jumped back to avoid whatever the danger was.
He felt the building rock around and shake for a bit and rushed to the server room's main exit. He left the room and his eyes grew wide and big by what he saw.
When he left the server room, he first noticed flames and rubble. Fisk was cruel; he knew that, but blowing up his own building and staff was desperation at the next level.
He jumped to the floor above him when Ally scanned movement on top of him. There a squad of five maybe six police officers appeared. He got confused as to how the bomb squad got here so fast but he ignored it for now.
"You guys are okay?" Izuku asked as the captain nodded at him "I can take care of this floor," Izuku offered not wanting to overstep with Yuri's troops.
"Good, we'll go up ahead. Meet you at the top," The Captain said as the bomb squad continued their journey. Izuku turned around and told Ally to scan for victims ahead.
He jumped to the floor ahead of him and quickly got into action. "Everyone clear out! Use the left exit!" he said as he rushed forward and cleared debris in front of him that was blocking two trapped civilians.
He found them trapped below a huge chunk of concrete. But they were lucky. According to Ally's scans, the columns hadn't hit them and only had surface injuries.
So he quickly bent down and put the rubble on his shoulders. He had trouble at first, but he managed to start lifting the debris enough for the civilians to crawl out of there. But before they could, a huge chunk of concrete fell on top of the others, pushing Izuku down a bit.
He groaned and with a grunt, he managed to lift the debris just barely giving the civilians room to get out. And once they did he threw the debris upwards and rolled out of the way. Avoiding the crashing rubble that came down.
He quickly climbed to one of the ventilation entrances and crawled through the vent with a sense of urgency "Spider-man," Yuri called and he noticed the anxiety behind her voice "This is bad, our last chopper was grounded. We have no way of stopping any leaving chopper," Yuri said and Izuku cursed.
"And also no one to chase him if he flies away," Izuku said turning around and picking up the pace.
"This is too convenient to be a coincidence. He planned this," Yuri said and Izuku's silence was enough to agree with her statement.
"He won't get away Yuri," He reassured her but as he dropped to the floor below but then he saw all the injured policemen and that made his confidence falter a bit "Yuri, send EMTs ASAP!" He said running to the exit as Yuri agreed with him before hanging up the call.
He propelled himself forward with two web strings. He perched himself on a fence and saw one of Fisk's goons taking out a rocket launcher.
"That's a bit much," Izuku mumbled and jumped upwards grabbed the rocket mid-air, and threw it to one of the windows. He jumped forward and kicked the goon into the wall.
As he tied him to the wall his senses flared up and when he turned around and saw two other goons with rocket launchers of their own. He stood up on the ledge as both goons aimed the rocket launchers at him and waited.
He made sure no one would get hurt behind him and jumped as soon as both shot the rockets at him.
They exploded behind him and the momentum propelled him forward crashing into one of the goons "That big of a gun must be an overcompensation," Izuku remarked as Izuku sent a web into the remaining goon's chest.
Once those goons were taken care of he turned around and rushed to the last block between him and Fisk. He broke down the door leading to the hallway that connected Fisk's office.
He flipped and avoided a lot of rubble in front of him. He would've kept running forward but in front of him, he found the bomb squad just waiting around.
He didn't need his senses to know that something was amiss but he gave them the benefit of the doubt "You guys alright?" He asked in worry and the captain looked at him.
"We were just about to call for backup, Fisk's just up ahead," He said as Izuku walked forward.
"I think I'm it," He said and passed all of them but then stopped as his senses flared up "I wouldn't do that if I were you," Izuku said making the police pointing the gun at him hesitate.
Exactly what Izuku wanted as he quickly bent down and turned around sending a web and removing the gun out of his hands. He threw it and rushed forward punching the officer in the jaw and knocking him out cold.
One officer, one of the two holding a riot shield, rushed forward but Izuku used the momentum against him. He used the riot shield to jump and position himself behind the officer. He sent two webs into the ground putting the officer between them. Then he brought himself down into the back of the officer and knocked the officer out col.
He didn't stop there as he sent two precise webs that made two goons fly straight into the wall and get stuck there. Then one officer remained. The one with the last riot shield.
Izuku sent a web into it and pulled it out of the officer's hands. But Izuku didn't stop there he twirled around and the riot shield came crashing into the officer with enough force to send him flying away.
He let out a huff of frustration. He got reminded once more why he was here. To get rid of the corruption within the city he lived.
"Yuri, bad news. A bunch of your men were on Fisk's payroll. Good news, I'm just outside Kingpin's office," Izuku said as he walked up to the doors ahead of him.
"Take him out. Now!" Yuri said as Izuku cracked his neck and back.
"Consider it done," He said as he quietly opened the door. Inside it was not a simple office. It was a small penthouse filled with Japanese regalia and historical items. Whatever he thought of Wilson Fisk one thing was certain. He loved his roots and this city.
He jumped to a pillar and looked down at the Kingpin "Writing your memoir? Do I get something nice?" He asked cheekily but Fisk ignored him.
"Prepare the chopper, I won't be long," Fisk said without looking at Izuku. Then he cracked his knuckles and looked at the Spider-hero "How long are we keeping this charade for?" He asked and Izuku tilted his head.
"Well unless you want to turn yourself in then I supposed till one of us drops then," Izuku said from his position "Why? Tired of my presence already? I'm hurt William," He said and Fisk grumbled.
"What do you hope to accomplish here Spider-Man?" Fisk asked as Izuku looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"To put an end to your corruption. You have put a stain in the city that needs to be removed," Izuku said, and for once that did get a reaction from the man in front of him.
Fisk looked angry. Veins surrounded his forehead and his eyes only reflected the loath he felt for the vigilante in front of him "You have no idea what you're talking about!" Fisk said tightening his fist
"World is already corrupt. Look around Spider-Man!" Fisk said pointing at the chaos in front of him "Power and freedom are things that only a certain kind of people can obtain, the kind of people that do whatever they have to do," He said as Izuku narrowed his eyes.
"Like corrupting public schools to fit the racist quirk agenda? That type of shit!? Izuku said frustrated and Fisk looked at him with slight pity.
"That's just the way of the world Spider-Man," Fis said as Izuku growled a bit. Kingpin stood from his seat "Men aren't created equally. Those born without power deserve to be at the bottom of the food chain while the rest of us have to stay on top. It's the perfect balance that keeps this world from falling apart," Fisk said and Izuku dropped down a bit of spark coming out of his hands.
"And you get to decide that? Just because you have power!?" Izuku practically shouted "Instead of helping those defenseless and powerless to be better and give them the opportunities they deserve. You chose to throw them aside without any thought!?" Izuku said and Fisk glanced at him while walking back.
"Yes, those are the rules this world handed to us. Strength is all that matters. And only I have the strength that this city needs to survive," Fisk said entering a room behind his desk.
Izuku chuckled a bit sarcastically before speaking up "Strength? You don't have strength Fisk," Izuku said as Wilson Fisk glared at the Vigilante in front of him "You're weak, you easily crumbled under the pressure of this society. A person with real strength would take one look at the problems in this world and make a change," Izuku said and Fisk scoffed.
"Change is something that this world will never let happen," Fisk said as he narrowed his eyes at Izuku while a transparent glass wall appeared in front of him trapping him inside the little room "You're fighting a losing battle here Spider-Man," Fisk said as he brought a control out of his suit.
"Perhaps, but I cannot give up. Not now, not ever," Izuku said as the columns shifted around and turrets appeared from the two in front of him "Ah an anniversary gift! You shouldn't have!" He said as he quickly used his lighting powers to avoid the bullets moving out of the way at incredible speeds.
He shoots webs into them, and then, with two web strings connected to the turret, he pulls it out of the collum and throws it at the wall of glass in front of Fisk, cracking it a bit. "What are you doing!? " Fisk shouts, but Izuku doesn't respond and just repeats the process with the other turret.
Then the wall of glass broke apart leaving Fisk unprotected "HOW!?" Fisk shouted in anger and Izuku looked at him with mirth in his eyes, not that Fisk could see them.
"What's the matter? Plan is not going as expected?" Izuku asked cheekily as Fisk growled.
"I will destroy you!" Fisk shouted rushing forward.
"Medical scan finished. Quirk: Muscle strength, the more angry he becomes the more his muscles constrict themselves, and the more strength he gets. Be careful," Ally said as Izuku saw Fisk breaking his desk with his fists.
"Always," He whispered to her as Fisk threw a rubble at him. He caught it mid-air with his webs and threw it back to Kingpin stunning him for a bit.
Then he threw several webs at Fisk tying him into place. Then he rushed forward throwing a combo of several uppercuts and a roundhouse kick. But Fisk caught that kick and threw Izuku into one of the pillars.
His back crashed into it and he let out a groan of pain but Fisk didn't let up. The Kingpin grabbed Izuku by the throat and tried to hit the Spider-Hero in the head but Izuku managed to hit Fisk's right leg.
Fisk stumbled back as Izuku jumped and threw a Superman punch at Fisk's head. But the Kingpin moved faster than Izuku and tackled Spider-Man into a wall behind him. Izuku came crashing into a boiler and Fisk lifted his hands trying to squash him but Izuku dodged out of the way.
But Fisk still managed to grab him and throw him into another wall, sending Izuku out of Fisk's office and into the waiting area, where he battled the Bomb Squad.
Izuku coughed the pain away as his back felt numb from all the crashing. He looked up and saw Fisk walking out of the hold with a glare in his face "You're everything that is wrong with this city!" Fisk said as he shook the rubble out of his arms.
Izuku stood up and looked at Fisk with his guard up "Funny," Izuku said glaring at Fisk "I was going to say the same about you," He said as both Kingpin and Spider-Man looked at each other with glares on their faces.
Fisk rushed at Izuku with a scream of rage and the spider-hero dodged at the last second sending a web to Fisk's face in the process. He kicked Fisk's knee bringing the bigger man to the ground and sending two punches at his face.
Fisk blocked the third one and sent Izuku flying away but the young vigilante managed to land on his feet just in time to dodge the rubble that Fisk threw at him.
Izuku jumped into the air grabbed the rubble that Fisk had just thrown and threw it back at Kingpin. He sent a web whip at Fisk and managed to land a kick on the bigger man.
He spun around and tried to hit Fisk in the temple but Kingpin managed to grab Izuku's leg and brought him down. Fisk put himself on top of Izuku with both hands up. Izuku managed to dodge both strikes again but the force was too much for the glass floor below them and it broke sending both Izuku and Fisk down onto the floor below.
Fisk grabbed Izuku mid-air but he managed to shake him off. He then sent a web to the floor above to gain momentum and then sent two webs trapping Fisk in between them. He brought himself down and landed on Fisk's chest breaking that floor as well.
Fisk managed to grab Izuku's legs in mid-air and threw him at the bridge below as Izuku took most of the damage. He didn't let off as in the same movement Fisk threw Izuku off the bridge.
But the young teen reflexes were better and Izuku managed to send a web to the widow on his right side. He perched up there and narrowed his eyes at Fisk. He jumped forward and again threw two webs at Fisk's sides. Kingpin was unaware of what Izuku was doing and when he turned around he was met with two kicks on his chest that sent him falling.
But Izuku didn't let off there. He continued a barrage of punches that connected with Fisk in mid-air. They fell for about three seconds till Fisk broke through a window roof that connected to the main lobby.
Izuku sent a web at him trapping him in mid-air. And as Fisk hung upside down Izuku let himself fall slowly with his feet hanging by a web to meet Fisk's face. Fisk glared at the vigilante as he realized what happened. He had lost for good this time.
"No don't move," Izuku said as he made a peace sign and turned his back to Fisk "I want this to look good to frame it later. Say cheers," Izuku said as finally Fisk's empire of corruption was brought down.
Yuri had quit smoking a while ago but after today. She felt like one last cigarette was okay due to the celebration of what occurred just now.
She was leaning on a police truck and watching while some police officers led Fisk into a truck that fit him "A job well done don't you think?" A voice on her right said and she didn't need to turn around to know who it was. And the fact that the truck moved a bit was a big clue as well.
"You're not gonna gloat in his face?" She asked blowing a smoke and Izuku chuckled a bit.
"That seems like an overkill. 'Sides, I don't want my face to be in the news sheets," Izuku said as Yuri glanced at him. Noticing the several scratches in his suit a show of how tough the battle was.
"You know that most people would love the spotlight this brings right?" She said rhetorically and Izuku couldn't help himself.
"Well, I'm not most people," Izuku said as Yuri rolled her eyes "No, being for real now. This was your operation, Yuri, your moment. I just lend a helping hand," Izuku said and Yuri let a small smile grace her face.
"Thank you Spider-Man. But it's a bit too late," Yuri said as she looked at the young vigilante freeze a bit "We got the surveillance footage as evidence. They public domain so we have to give them to the press. And as you don't have a hero license to refuse them showing it in the news…" She said letting Izuku fill in the blanks.
He sighed and looked ahead "It is what it is. Would that be a problem with putting Fisk behind bars?" He asked as Yuri shook her head.
"No, him shooting rocket launchers at us and the city made that problem disappear," She said and Izuku chuckled a bit "You did good here Spider-Man, I don't care if you're a Hero or not," She said as Izuku feel thrilled at the praise.
"I'm just a friendly concerned neighbor. Nothing to it," He said standing up and looking at Fisk "I should get going. If you need me you have my number," Izuku said as Yuri looked at him.
"That I do," She said as Izuku swung away from the scene. Fisk saw him swinging away and that made his frustration grow.
"You're making a huge mistake! I'm the only one keeping this city together!" He shouted as a police officer threw him inside the truck "One month! In one month you will miss me!" He said but Izuku was too far away to really hear him.
Izuku landed on the roof of a nearby building and took his mask off finally letting his pain get the better of him "Why did he have to throw me on my back so many times?" He groaned out loud as he felt a small cut on his cheek. Not too severe but it did sting.
"I told you to be careful. You're lucky he didn't break your back," Ally said appearing in front of him.
"Yeah, yeah I know. Can you stop scolding me and run a medical status," Izuku said while rubbing his shoulder.
"All things considered you're pretty fine. Just some muscular atrophied muscles on your back and shoulders. Your quick healing should take care of it in an hour or two," Ally said and Izuku let out a sigh and a groan.
"Great," Izuku said as he looked to his right. The orange hue of the afternoon made the city look incredibly beautiful "I could use a small vacation after this. How long I've been after him?" Izuku said as Ally crossed her arms.
"A year. Yesterday was the anniversary," She said and Izuku chuckled lightly.
"The end of an era," He said, and then his vision was invaded by an incoming call from an unknown number "Hello?" He asked.
"Hello, this is Izuku Midoriya right?" He immediately recognized the voice from the other line.
"Yes, what can I do for you, Dr. Octavius?" Izuku said as he stared at the horizon ahead.
"Melissa shared your number with me. Just wanted to ask you if you're free to come to the facilities," Dr. Octavius said as Izuku remembered about the small internship the Dr. had offered to him.
"This Saturday right?" Izuku said as he looked at Ally who gave him a thumbs up. She was checking his schedule and making sure he didn't have anything to do "Yeah, I can swing by," He said and he could feel the excitement from the doctor on the phone.
"Perfect! Just to let you know, some investors are coming. Just to check on the progress of a project I've been working on," He said and Izuku felt a bit anxious at that but figured the doctor had things under control.
"Then I have to bring my A game," Izuku said getting a chuckle from the Doctor.
"That's the spirit, I'll see you then," Octavius said hanging up the call. Izuku put a hand on top of his lap and looked at the horizon.
"Ally," Izuku said as the hologram looked at him with a curious look. "Message Nezu, tell him I'm gonna be a bit late, the view is too pretty right now," Izuku said as Ally let out an exasperated sigh.
Izuku leaned on the entrance of the roof and just breathed in the sight ahead of him taking a well-deserved rest.
U.A. Afternoon
Jirou was glad that today was as calm as it was. Not too much homework and perfect weather. It gave her time to listen to music and think about lyrics of the songs she was working on.
Currently, she was chilling in the lobby area with the other girls in her class with one earphone jack connected to her phone. It was amazing how quickly all of them became so tight and close. She blamed the green-headed idiot for a bit of it. Perhaps Mina's eagerness to get close to Izuku was the catalyst of this tightness.
But whatever it was she was grateful. If she had to admit being this close with the other gender didn't come easy to her. Izuku was the anomaly. She was fairly certain that she specifically played for the other game. As a girl in her high school had put it so eloquently back then. She thanked whoever was watching her for the fact that nobody believed her. She wasn't ready to go out of the closet back then.
But that may not be the case anymore and she blamed her classmates for that. Every single girl in the class was hot, and that was an understatement. Every single one of them had something going for them that ticked many boxes for Kyoka. And it was driving her insane. And that's ignoring the greenhead problem that has been plaguing her dreams for a while now.
That was a huge problem. She really thought she was gay but that may not be the case, bi would be a better term with the huge crush she was having for the green idiot.
Then as her phone vibrated she was reminded about another issue in the mess that her love life was currently.
"Hey Kyo, wanna see how your gloves are coming along?" She saw Gwen's message on her phone and couldn't help the blush that invaded her cheeks.
Ever since she met her she couldn't help but think back to that moment in the support course classroom. If the girls in her class checked a few boxes of her likes then Gwen checked every box. And that little issue had her feelings and thoughts swirling around like a freaking tornado. But, unlike face-to-face conversation, texting made her a bit bolder.
"That's the excuse you found to talk to me?" She responded back and then immediately regretted it feeling she may sounded rude. But mentally sighed in relief when Gwen texted her back.
"Not my best ones but hey, I got a response," Gwen texted back and Kyoka held back a giggle "I gotta admit that I'm not used to texting friends," She said and Kyoka grew curious.
"How come?" She texted back and noticed the hesitance from Gwen. Especially when the response took a bit to come by.
"Don't judge, but I was a bit of a loner back in America. I still am," Gwen said and that surprised Kyoka a bit. Gwen didn't come off as that to her "Didn't fit back home too well, being Bi didn't help it either. Had only one friend if you can imagine," Gwen said and that single sentence made Kyoka sit straighter.
"You're bi?" Kyoka texted back with a bit of trepidation and nervousness in her thoughts. Where those feelings came from she didn't know but that train of thought was subsequentially ignored by the next text.
"Yeah, full-time. I swing both ways you could say," Gwen said as Kyoka felt her heartbeat bit faster. Perhaps the thought of an opportunity made her nervous "Anyway, it was a lonely life till I met Izuku, and now you I suppose," Gwen said as Kyoka's blush grew further.
A thing that was noticed by the person she would've liked not to notice the most "Who are you talking to Kyo?" Mina asked with a mischievous smirk noticing the blush on the punk/rock girl.
"Just a friend from the support course," She said bringing her blush under control.
"You mean Gwen!?" Toru asked. She was braiding Mina's hair and Kyoka's blush came back on full force "She's very cool. Didn't know you guys became friends," She said and Ochako, who working on some homework with Tsu looked at them with a curious look.
"Who's that?" She asked tilting her head and Kyoka ignored the thought of how cute Ochako looked very quickly.
"She's a student from the support course who's helping me with a support item. She's Izuku's friend also," She said as she showed her profile picture to the girls.
"She's pretty," Tsu remarked with her nonchalant tone and Kyoka agreed mentally unlike Mina and Toru who agreed vocally.
"Her hair looks cool. I wonder what products how she styled it like that," Momo said passing a hand on the left side of her hair. Wondering if she could pull that look.
Then Kyoka remembered the comment Gwen had made about being a bit of a loner and an idea formed in her mind "Hey, mind if I invite her here?" Kyoka asked as the girls looked at each other "She's from America and I think she could use some friends. And you guys are pretty great," She said making the girls beam at her by the praise.
"Of course you can! The more the merrier I'd say!" Mina said and Toru met her excitement.
"It would do us good to meet people outside our class," Momo said and then she got a thoughtful look on her face "I wonder if she likes tea, and what kind," Momo said as Kyoka chuckled and sent a message back to Gwen.
"Hey about that. Me and the girls from my class are hanging on our dorm. Wanna join?" Kyoka texted and a response didn't take long to get to her.
"You sure? Don't want to intrude," Gwen texted back and Kyoka smirked at her shyness.
"Yeah, you won't intrude," She said and then felt the need to reassure the girl "They are cool people. You do not need to feel anxious," She texted and waited a bit for a response. Then she looked up and noticed the girls looking at her with eagerness in her eyes. Who knew that all the girls were social butterflies.
"Okay, then I'll swing by. Be there in five," Gwen texted back as Kyoka glanced back at her classmates.
"She's said yes," Kyoka said and she could see the small excitement in the girl's eyes. She rolled her eyes and stood up "I'm gonna wait for her at the entrance, give you guys time to let out your excitement," Kyoka said sarcastically to the amusement of the girls.
She walked from the dining room where they were and through the main lobby noticing a small group of guys playing a game on the main TV. She noticed Kirishima and Kaminari there but other than that she didn't look hard enough to figure out who else was there.
She left the dorm to the main entrance and took a seat on the main stairs waiting for the girl that plagued her dreams. She then noticed a figure walking up to her. Gwen wore a pair of dark blue jeans and a pair of black Converse shoes below.
On top, she had a black leather jacket with white stripes that covered a simple white top. Kyoka had her eyes on Gwen's abdomen for a moment before her eyes met Gwen's as the blond girl from the support course got to her.
"Hey, you were waiting for me?" Gwen asked putting her hands in her jacket pockets as Kyoka shrugged her shoulders.
"Didn't want you to get lost," Kyoka said and Gwen snorted in amusement as Kyoka stood up "Come on, let me introduce you to the others," Kyoka said as Gwen stepped up the stairs.
"Lead the way Kyo," She said and Kyoka chuckled a bit much to the curiosity of the blond girl.
"Izuku calls me that as well, no wonder you're friends," She clarified as she let Gwen enter the building.
"I'll take it as a compliment," She said and Kyoka gave her an amused smile "Speaking of which, he told me you play bass guitar," She said as Kyoka grew nervous very quickly and twirled an earphone jack on her finger.
"Yeah, though I don't know how good I am. I've never performed in front of someone," She said and Gwen tilted her head in curiosity "Never found the opportunity," Kyoka said shrugging her shoulders.
"We should play together sometime then," Gwen said as Kyoka grew curious "I play drums. Used to be in a band as well, though that didn't end well," Gwen said a bit reminiscing.
"That's so cool!" Kyoka said not hiding her excitement at all "I've been dabbling on percussion for a while now, it's fucking hard," She said and Gwen chuckled.
"Yeah, it sure was back when I was learning," Gwen said "But determination and the need to hit something work wonders," She said jokingly and Kyoka smiled at her.
"I can imagine," She said as they passed the guys in the main area. And a part of her was glad that no one in the men's group noticed Gwen. She didn't want to parade and make her new friend feel uncomfortable.
They got to the girl group and Kyoka gave her a nod "Girls, this is Gwen. I'll let you introduce yourself," Kyoka said taking her previous seat on the couch.
"Hi, I'm Gwen. Nice to meet you," Gwen said taking a seat on the floor just in front and below Kyoka.
"Want some tea? My name is Yaoyorozu Momo by the way," The raven black-haired girl said putting a cup of tea in front of Gwen much to the blond girl's appreciation "You're from America right?" She asked as Gwen nodded.
"Yeah, from New York. Or what's left of it," She said remembering quickly the crash course Izuku had given her about the current state of his world.
"And why did you come here? I'm Ashido Mina. You can call me Mina if it's easier for you," She said much to the appreciation of Gwen.
"Thank you, and well I came here for a fresh start to be honest. Not much for me back home," She said but before anyone else could ask her more about that she continued talking "Sorry if I'm being rude, you can totally curse me off. But your skin. Those it had to do with your power?" Gwen asked in curiosity
"Power? You mean quirk?" Mina asked as Gwen nodded sheepishly "Not really, though perhaps my color is protection for my acid," She said looking at her hands not really sure of herself.
"Well it's certainly unique and stunning," Gwen said getting a lilac blush from the acid girl.
"Do you see many unique-looking people where you're from?" Gwen turned to the girl with frog features, confused. "I'm Asui Tsuyuu; call me Tsu," Tsu said, and Gwen thought for a moment.
"Well, New York used to be a very unique and diverse state, but not anymore. You're a bit freer in your country, till a degree," Gwen said as she looked down at her cup of tea in deep thought "A very closed-minded country you could say," Gwen said and the girls understood it completely.
"Have you experienced anything like that?" Gwen pondered that question from the round-cheek girl "I mean I love my home but Mie could also be very closed-minded at points," The girl said and her eyes winded a bit as if she just remembered something important "Ah-h I'm Uraraka Ochako, Ochako is just fine," She said as Gwen found an answer.
"A bit, but just some snide comments or judgment looks. I still remember the lady that told me I got lucky about not being born with any mutations, piece of shit," Gwen said with a bit of a glare on her face.
"I can imagine, you should hear all the comments I've heard about my invisibility," Gwen heard the chirpy voice of the invisibility girl and she had to hold back her amazement a bit "This is turning too serious for my liking. So what do you do for fun?" The girl asked and Gwen tilted her head wanting to know her name "I'm Hagakure Toru, you can call me however you like," She said a bit flirtatious making Gwen chuckle.
"I'll keep that in mind," Gwen responded getting a chuckle out of Mina "Well, playing drums, watching movies, and playing board games I guess," Gwen said as Jirou leaned forward.
"What kind of Movies?" She asked. She also noticed that this was starting to become a bit of an interrogation so she was eager to move the conversation along.
"Thrillers mostly, I also like the punk and cyberpunk aesthetic so," Gwen said as Mina looked like she found the greatest treasure ever but before she could speak Kyoka continued speaking.
"Cool, we were talking about watching a movie on Sunday, though we haven't decided on what yet," Kyoka said as Mina took the floor.
"It's because none of you have any taste, I told you already we should watch Alien," Mina said and Tsu looked at her with a bored look.
"And we've already told you that that movie could be a bit much for some of us," Tsu said and Mina grumbled.
"How so?" Gwen asked in curiosity and Momo looked a bit embarrassed.
"Well, I'm still getting used to "Hanging out" as Kyo and Mina put it out, and well," Momo said biting her lip as Ochako patted her back.
"Alien is a bit much so we want something light," Toru said and Gwen nodded in understanding.
"I see. Could I offer one?" Gwen asked, and the girls looked at her in curiosity. "Have any of you seen Blade Runner 2049?" she asked, and most of the girls shook their heads.
"Oh that could be good," Toru said getting the attention on her "It's very cool and looks very good," She said and Gwen nodded.
"And the message of the movie is deep. And the director is a genius," Gwen said as Kyoka leaned forward.
"How about it Mina? Sounds good to you?" Kyoka asked as the girls looked at the pink girl who shrugged her shoulders.
"Sure, whatever excuse I get to spend time with you girls is good to me," Mina said much to the appreciation of the 1-A girls "You're coming too right?" Mina asked Gwen who's eyes grew big at being put on the spot.
"Um, are you sure? I don't want to intrude," Gwen said as Ochako leaned forward.
"You won't, you're Kyo's friend and pretty cool. So like Mina said earlier, the more the merrier," She said as Gwen blinked a bit and then gave the brown-haired girl an appreciative smile.
"Come on Blondie, it would be fun," Kyoka said pushing Gwen's shoulder playfully and Gwen gave her a playful glare in return.
"Fine, I'm in," Gwen said to the small cheers of the girls. Then the conversation started to turn into one where Gwen learned a bit about the girls in the Hero course. They were cheerful and full of personality. No wonder Izuku spoke very highly of them.
She leaned into the couch behind her and then felt a hand on her hair. She glanced up and noticed Kyoka started playing her hair unconsciously. She smirked a bit and let her continue without calling her out.
Then the conversation stopped a bit when a ruffled and tired Izuku entered the area heading straight into the kitchen "Hey Midori! The hell happened to your face!?" Mina practically shouted as a pair of tired eyes looked at the group.
"Just a small accident while tinkering with a new equipment product," He explained to the group and then his eyes found Gwen's. He tilted his head in curiosity wondering what she was doing here.
"Kyo kidnapped me and made me hang out with everyone," She said answering the unasked question of Izuku much to the amusement of the girls and slight embarrassment of Kyoka.
"Though luck," Izuku said as a yawn invaded his system "I would love to chat with you all but I'm pretty tired," Izuku said as Momo looked at him with understanding.
"It's okay Izuku. You get yourself some rest," Momo said as Izuku nodded in appreciation.
"Still, before I leave. Anyone want something from the kitchen?" He asked as most of the girls shook their heads except Gwen.
"Throw me a water bottle please," Gwen said as Izuku nodded and went to the kitchen. Then from the kitchen, a water bottle soar through the air to the surprise of the girls.
Then a web string caught in mid-air and Gwen pulled it to her hands without even looking "I didn't mean it literally Zu!" Gwen shouted as Izuku chuckled while leaving the area. Unaware of the narrowed eyes from Kyoka that followed him. She didn't know why but the whole thing about an experiment accident was a huge lie. And how he was lying she didn't know but sooner or later she would find out why he was lying all the time.
Gwen huffed and opened the bottle as she noticed the stares she was getting from the girls "What?" She asked confused and Tsu talked on all of the girl's behalf.
"That's some pretty good reflexes you got there. Is it part of your quirk?" She asked putting Gwen on the spot. And mentally she cursed Izuku for having to explain what her power was and how similar it was to the green head.
Back with Izuku, he managed to drag himself to his room and promptly fell on his bed. He was tired and could not wait for the sweet release that sleep would bring him.
Battling Fisk was tougher than he anticipated and he cursed the villain for his soreness. At least he was glad that his vision was turning black for a bit.
Then he was suddenly woken up by someone touching his cheek. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Gen sitting on his bed looking down at him with concern in her eyes.
"Hey, how did you get here?" Izuku asked groggily and Gwen looked back.
"You left your door open," She said as Izuku let out a defeated sigh. Then she started playing with his hair while still looking at him with concern "I saw the news. Are you okay?" She asked as Izuku looked up at her with tired eyes.
"I'm alright. He threw me around a bunch of times and my back is killing me, but other than that I'm fine," He said as Gwen moved her hand on his back.
"Here?" She asked tentatively and he nodded once she found the spot that caused the most pain "Well I'm glad you're taking a rest. Just take it easy tomorrow please," She said as she started massaging his back.
"I will," He said letting a groan out "It's just rescuing practice tomorrow, nothing major," He said. It was going to be a chill day tomorrow so there was no need to be so worried.
"Speaking of which, I'm going out tomorrow. Jess and Miguel wanted help on a mission," Gwen said as Izuku's eyes grew big.
"Oh wow, Miguel didn't tell me," Izuku said as Gwen chuckled at her tired boyfriend.
"You were pretty occupied with the whole Fisk's business dear," She said still playing with his hair.
"Still this is huge, dammit. I wanted to go with you on your first multiverse mission," He said as Gwen leaned down and planted a kiss on his cheek.
"I'll be okay Zu, and there will be more to come," She said and Izuku smiled tiredly at her "Just take it easy and call me if anything comes up," She said and Izuku sighed.
"I will," He said before smiling cheekily at her "You're making friends," He said moving his eyebrows up in a suggestive manner as Gwen huffed and rolled her eyes.
"Shut up," She said a bit exasperated. And it was moments like this that Izuku was glad of being this lucky. Moments of peace and quiet.
Moments that would seem so hard to find in the coming days. Especially after what tomorrow had in store for him.
End of Chapter 10.
