A/N: This is not long but that's the point for something like this is all that I would have needed in that final episode to feel a consistent through line, provide connections between the stories and as a viewer and fan provide closure.

After talking to Joe, Jamie walked back into his wife's room surprised to see her wake and staring off in the direction of the window.

"Hey." He gently greets.

Eddie glances in her husband's direction "Hi." She a bit unemotionally returns.

"I thought you'd still be asleep so I went to grab a coffee." Jamie explains as he walks over to the bed.

"It's fine." Eddie promises with a bit of detachment in her voice.

Jamie takes a deep breath. He got it. She was still trying to process everything. So was he. "Listen…" He hesitantly begins "Joe thinks he has a lead on who did this and…"

Eddie immediately turns her full attention to her husband. She wanted the bastard that did this caught and if Jamie could do that, she wasn't about to stand in his way.

"Go." She instructs.

Jamie tilts his head a little as he studies his wife "You sure?"

"Yes." Eddie replies with determined conviction in her voice "I want this guy Jamie. Go." so Jamie nods in understanding, leans forward and presses a soft kiss to his wife's forehead "Love you."

Eddie squeezes her eyes closed the second his lips touch her skin "Love you too."

A second later Jamie pulls back and heads out the door to go do his job leaving Eddie alone with only her thoughts.

Joe is driving with Jamie in the Chevelle when Jamie's phone dings with a text so he pulls out his phone to read.

"Who's that?" Joe inquires as he glances over.

"Eddie." Jamie replies "She's being released and apparently Amelia contacted her so she's going with Danny to try to find her."

Joe shakes his head slightly "Like I said, all hands on deck." he mutters as he continues to drive.

Jamie dials his phone.

Eddie quickly picks up at the other end "Hi any news?"

J: What's your 20? perp's girlfriend just went into labor so got a hunch he'll show up at the hospital.

E: I'm on my way.

J: K but Eddie, you need to stay out of sight okay. He knows you.

E: I know. I won't jeopardize this Jamie.

J: I know and hey Eddie?

E: Yeah?

J: Bring Badillo's cuffs with you and I'll text you when we have eyes.

There is a moment of silence over the phone as Eddie processes what Jamie is telling her and in that moment she realizes, he truly gets it.

"Thank you." is all Eddie can sincerely and a bit emotionally reply.

….

Standing wrapped up in her husband's arm after cuffing the guy responsible for her partner's death a jumble of emotions run through Eddie as her husband repeatedly soothes "We got him. We got him."

Hugging him tight in appreciation a smile of relief and gratitude appears on Eddie's face "Thank you." She emotionally whispers to him "Thank you for catching him. Thank you for letting me be the one to cuff him. Thank you for… for that closure."

"You're welcome." Jamie returns as the couple slowly pull back from one another and Jamie looks at his wife "I know what losing a partner is like. I'm just sad that now you know that feeling too."

Unable to speak Eddie just nods her head in acknowledgement of that statement.

"You okay?" Jamie gently double checks as he subtly glances down at her stomach then back up to her eyes with a questioning look.

Again Eddie gives him a small reassuring smile "We're fine."

For the first time since this all started, Jamie let's out a breath in relief and drops his forehead onto his wife's head "When I got that phone call…" he begins.

"I know." Eddie soothes in melancholy remembrance "It's the same way I felt getting that call last year about you."

"Yeah but now…" Jamie interjects as he pulls back slightly so he can again look at his wife

"It's not just you and me." Eddie quietly finishes.

"No it's not." Jamie agrees "And you're sure the doctors said everything is fine?"

"Yes." Eddie reiterates "We're fine."

"Okay good." Jamie breathes out in relief as Eddie's eyes drift over to the babies in the nursery and she can't help but truly smile at the sight "Look at them Jamie, they are all so innocent."

Turning his head to look too, Jamie can't help but let out a little laugh "As I was standing there pretending to be a father looking at his child..." he narrates as he and Eddie walk over to stand side by side looking in the window "...it was not lost on me that soon that will actually be me."

Smiling at the thought herself, Eddie leans her head on her husband's shoulders "Can't wait."

"Me neither." Jamie admits.

"I think it's time we tell everyone Jamie." Eddie suddenly states.

"You sure?" Jamie questions.

Eddie lifts her head off her husband's shoulder "Yeah."

Jamie nods in understanding and agreement "Can I take you home now?" he inquires "Joe can handle processing the guy..." He begins before a realization hits him "I mean unless you want to?" he suddenly questions but Eddie shakes her head no in rejection "No. Like you said, Joe can handle it. I want to go home."

Jamie nods as he wraps his arm around his wife's shoulder and turns them both around to walk away "Let's go."
