Chapter 4

Addy

Addy went to sit outside and meditate. She had a long day involving lots of last minute school shopping. She sat cross legged on the grass as she closed her eyes and just relaxed. She heard the screen door open and her mom came out.

"Have you been practicing your powers?" her mom asked.

"Yes. I think I should be able to control them at school."

"Do you have your bow and knife?"

"Yes mom. I wouldn't go anywhere without them."

Addy's mom smiled. "That's my girl"

Addy and her mom silently sat there in the dark for a good ten minutes.

"What happens if there is another demi-god at the school?"

"Let's hope that they aren't a part of a prophecy."

"I'm scared"

"You will do great. Now go get some rest. You have a big day tomorrow."

The next morning Addy got ready for her first day of school. She put on her brand new top and a pair of jeans. Then she filled her backpack with her new school supplies, hugged her mom and started her walk to school.

After she went through her school schedule, Math, Biology, and English, she started her walk home. Then she bumped into another girl. Who knocked her books to the floor.

"OMG I'm really sorry." the girl said.

"It's not a problem" Addy replied

"Geez Lynn, you're so clumsy" another girl said walking up to them.

"You think I don't know." the girl sighed " as you heard I'm Lynn and the annoying one is Emma." The second girl, Emma, rolled her eyes and smiled.

"Are you guys new here?" Addy asked.

"Yeah we met over the summer. We both moved here recently." Lynn replied.

"That's cool, where to?"

"Lynn lives on Magpipe St. and I live one street down."

"Wait, one street down from Magpipe? That's Tillgame St."

"Yeah it is. House 2384" Emma said.

"No way! I live right next door, 2383!"

"You should walk home with us!" Lynn suggested.

"Yeah, we can talk on the way." Emma exclaimed.

"Sure, why not." On the walk home nothing interesting happened. The two new girls talked with Addy casually as they made their way home. They walked to Lynn's house first, dropping her off and heading to their homes. When Addy and Emma got close to their houses, Addy felt a power rush over her. On no. she thought. A prophecy. Addy started to run home, trying to somehow get rid of the prophecy coming. Not now, not now, not now! It's only my first day! "Addy, where are you going?" Emma yelled running to catch up with her. "I, I, can't" Addy stumbled and felt the prophecy trying to come out. No! She thought. Go away! "Are you okay" Emma shouted Addy didn't respond, afraid that if she spoke again the prophecy would come pouring out. She ran and ran until she was home. She sat on her couch and worked on her breathing exercises. She started to cry. "What's wrong sweetheart?" Addy didn't hear her mom enter the room. "She's a demi-god." Addy sobbed "this isn't supposed to happen on my first day." "Okay sweetie I'm going to need you to start from the beginning. We will figure it out." Addy told her mom what happened. Meeting new friends and the prophecy. "That's interesting. I've never been able to tell when a prophecy was coming let alone keep it in. It probably has something to do with your father. We should ask him." "Mom there's another problem." "What's that?" "The girl, Emma, lives right next door and well I wouldn't be surprised if she came to our house to ask what happened." "Sweetheart, if that prophecy is important it will come sooner or later. Plus this girl probably doesn't know she's a demi-god. At least she will find out from you, and not by a not very friendly encounter with a monster. "She's going to need a lot of help understanding what's going on especially if she is thrown into fulfilling a prophecy before she even knows what is happening." "Yeah, I guess so." "You will figure it out. I love you." "Thanks, mom. I love you too."
