I do not own any of the Twilight characters in this story. Only the ones in my imagination.

The next morning, I woke up and started my daily routine. Let Ty out, feed and water him, and then go get dressed for our morning run. I was accustomed to waking up at 4:30 in the morning and being at my Gran's was no different. While Ty was eating his breakfast, I combed my hair out and put it into a tight and high ponytail. I grabbed my truck keys and quietly walked outside as to not wake Gran up. I grabbed my suitcase and went back to my room to get dressed.

I ended up finding a pair of my black nike running shorts and a fitted tank top. I quickly put on my tennis shoes and tied them, put my deodorant on and brushed my teeth, and then grabbed my earbuds and walked into the kitchen. Ty was sitting by the door waiting for me. "You ready to go, bud?" I asked, bending down to hug him and kiss his hairy forehead. He stood up and turned in a circle before sitting back down. I smiled. I grabbed Gran's extra key and slipped it into my sports bra and we went outside. "Stretches first big man." I giggled and began stretching my legs. Ty stretched his legs out in the front and laid down. "I guess that is good enough." I laughed. I found my playlist on my Ipod and slipped it into the case strapped to my arm. Old school I know, but it was one of my favorite things in the whole wide world!

I raised my left hand as I began jogging out of the yard. Signaling Ty to follow me. He was my running partner and very well trained. He stays by my side at all times and if any stranger would ever approach me too close. He automatically positions himself between us. Ty is a huge animal. His head reaches my waist standing on all fours. People do not mess with him. He is intimidating to look at, but he is also a huge baby. He is just my protector.

It was still dark out, the sun hadn't begun to rise yet. We jogged until we reached First Beach, which was two miles from Gran's house. That's when Ty and I began picking up speed. We ran down the beach until we reached the forest line and began zig zagging, missing the trees and jumping over others that were down. This was our favorite thing to do, run through the forests and hike. The land began going uphill so Ty took one path and I took another. I swear that boy liked to race me. He would wait at the top and then pounce on me when I got up there. I was expecting the same thing with him being ahead of me and gleefully running, when I happened to look to my left and caught a glimpse of a solid black wolf. The sight of such a large magnificent creature caught me off guard and I fell over a large tree stump that was laying in the path. I sat there just watching it watch me, when all of a sudden TY approached me slowly from the right. His eyes never leaving the wolf and a low, menacing growl escaping from his throat. It was then that the large wolf looked at him and noticed his size. The black wolf, who was as black as my Ty, began backing up as Ty stalked forward. Surprising enough, the large wolf seemed to be just as shocked as I was. He turned and went back in the direction that he originally came from.

Ty turned around and sniffed me, checking to make sure I wasn't hurt. "It's okay. I think we better head back now don't you think?" he looked around before dropping his head. "You are a good boy, but I think that wolf would have killed us both if he wanted to." I stood up, dusting myself off and we both ran the whole way back to the house.

The sun was beginning to peak over the trees when we got back. Gran was sitting on the porch with her coffee, talking on the phone. "Alright, well Emma and Ty just arrived back. I guess I will talk to you later on at the council meeting." she hung up and looked at me. "Where have you been?" she asked, looking me up and down. Ty jumped up on the porch and laid down by her feet.

"We went for our morning run." i replied as i sat down beside of her. "Listen, i know you dont like unexpected guests, Gran. But i think there is something more going on than what you are actually telling me. I have never in my twenty three years have ever seen you react the way you did last night." She sat there for a minute and looked at me before sighing.

"I'm sorry. No one ever comes up this way but a few people, and their trucks do not sound the way yours does. They are more loud. You just scared me."

"I'm not believing that for one second. I am here for answers. The answers you wouldnt give me when I was younger and in the midst of those, you can tell me what you have been hiding." I said nonchalantly standing up. I went and got Ty a bowl of water. " I am going to shower and then we can sit and talk."

"Actually, I have some errands to run. It will take me all day" she sighed. There she goes, avoiding it all. I rolled my eyes.

"That's fine but I will be waiting up on you when you get home. IN the meantime, Ty and I will head to the library for a while and let you run your "Errands" in peace." I replied sarcastically.

I went and showered and then dressed in my daisy duke black shorts and a red shirt. My hair hung down my back and I picked it out gently and added a touch of mousse. Enough so that it wouldn't frizz. I didn't need it to hold my curls perfectly. They did that on their own. It was the frizz that always got me here. I quickly put on my red flip flops and Ty and I went and got into the truck. Gran had already left before I was finished getting ready.

I backed out of the driveway and headed toward the library. It sat closer toward the Forks and La Push line and wasn't very big at all. When I pulled in, I noticed a group of guys sitting at a small convenience store. They were built, big, and nice looking and they were all shirtless. Come to think of it, they all dressed the same and carried themselves the same. Almost like they run the town. I just sighed and looked at Ty, "Are you ready to go and see what we find out?" I petted his head. He pried his eyes away and followed me to the door. I heard him growl and turned to see the reason behind it. The group of guys were just staring at the both of us. I opened the door and we went in. Me walking in, Ty backing in, keeping an eye out on the group.

An hour and a half looking through the books and finding nothing, i came across an old leather book. It had a peace of leather that tied the book closed and there was a wolf pack that was intricately burnt into the cover. I took it up to the desk where the librarian stood. "HI, Miss Sue?" I said looking at her name tag. "May I check this book out please?" I asked politely. She turned and smiled.

"Why yy…." she stopped. "Where did you get this?" she asked.

"It was over on the shelf. I noticed it was about legends of the Quileute. I wanted to read them again and refresh my memory." I smiled.

"Read them again?" she asked. Almost doubting me.

"Yes ma'am. My grandfather would tell me the stories when he would come around. I didn't see him much. But when I did I can remember the magical feeling I got as I listened to his stories." She looked at me with eyes full of wonder and curiosity.

"Who is your grandfather, sweetie?"

"I was always told to call him Grandfather or Grandfather J.I never really knew his name." I looked down at the book. "I promise I won't let anything happen to it. I am staying with my grandmother, Elaine, for the meantime while I'm on vacation." Her eyes got big.

"Elaine McCarty?" she asked. I nodded and smiled. "Alright then, you can go ahead and take it home. Please just have it back by tomorrow evening".

"Yes ma'am, I will. Thank you!" I left the library happy as can be. Ty jumped into the truck ahead of me. I slid the book over and went to climb up into the truck when someone behind me spoke.

"Who are you?" he asked. "I havent seen you around here. Usually only our people are ever on the Res." i glared at him. The nerve to actually say that to me.

"Question is who are you?" i replied.

"My name is Sam."

"Well Sam, my grandmother is part of the council and I am Quileute and Makah." i sat there staring him down. "Maybe i should call my grandmother Elaine if you don't believe me." his facial expression changed then.

"You're her granddaughter?" he asked. I nodded. " I am so sorry. We try to keep the trouble down."

"Do I look like trouble to you?" I asked. Ty had made his way to my back and was looking over my shoulder. Tempting him to get closer.

"No, I apologize. Now that I've seen you up close you do look familiar. Did you grow up here?" I shook my head.

"I visited a lot, but I grew up on the Makah Res." I replied. Slowly relaxing.

"Do you know, Emily Young?" he asked. I smiled.

"Yes! She is my cousin. My dad's sister's daughter." He just grinned.

"Well maybe she and you can catch up sometime."

"That would be wonderful, you know where to find me." I shut the truck door and headed back to my Gran's house to start reading. Sam was walking back to his friends as he turned and waved. Crazy how these situations happen.
