Chapter 4: Denki Kaminari

This trip was going slightly better than Denki hoped but not as well as he had planned. He had yet to figure out why Jiro seemed to hate his guts. And when he figured that out he would find a way to change her mind and maybe even get her to go out with him. Yes, Denki Kaminari had a crush on Kyoka Jiro. Sue him. She was hot! And funny. And an absolutely incredible musician. Okay so maybe Kaminari likes Jiro more than he would care to admit. He couldn't help that every little thing about her made his heart ache. Sometimes he tried to flirt with other girls but it just never felt right. They didn't light that spark that he felt whenever he flirted with Jiro even if she usually attacked him immediately after. But that was part of the reason he liked messing with her. He liked the way he was able to get under her skin every time. But for some reason she just seemed to hate his guts. Well Kaminari was going to change all of that. Hopefully.

"Yo Earth to Kaminari!" Kirishima said, waving a hand in front of his face.

"What did I miss?" Kaminari asked, looking around Time Square.

"We were talking about where we wanted to go and when we asked you, you were off in another dimension," Kirishima explained.

"Hey Kiri, come hang with us!" Mina yelled to her boyfriend. She was hanging out with her usual friends Yaoyurozu, Uraraka, Asui & Jiro. His gaze immediately drifted to Jiro like it usually did. She had happened to be looking in his general direction and their eyes met for a few seconds. He smiled and waved at her. She glared at him and flipped him off. Kaminari grinned at this. Like he said he loves getting under her skin even if it's little stuff like getting her to flip him off. It meant that she paid attention to him even if it was in a bad way. But you know what they say, any attention is good attention. Kaminari was not coping, he's just optimistic is all.

"I'd love to Mina but I promised these guys we'd hang out together," Kirishima said with a regrettable smile.

"Hey then we can all hangout together," Mina said excitedly jumping up and down like she won the lottery. "Then we can all get to know each other and be best friends!"

"Um I'm not sure about this Mina," Jiro said, twirling her headphones nervously. The other girls started butting in about it not being a great idea due to the differences and issues between the groups. Well the other girls minus Asui.

"I think this is actually a brilliant idea Ashido," Asui said with her index on her bottom lip. "We will all need to be able to cooperate. We'll all be together for the next two and a half years before we graduate. We'll need to be able to be around each other without wanting to strangle each other."

"Thanks, Sui," Mina said, pumping her fist. "See we all just need to put our issues aside and start over!" The boys looked at each other and shrugged. It couldn't end too terribly, could it? Secretly, Kaminari was excited. This was his chance to get in good graces with Jiro and could be his into dating her!

"Alright sounds like a plan to me!" Kirishima exclaimed looking at the other boys. "Unless you guys aren't comfortable with it."

"I for one am fine with it," Kaminari said, quickly smiling. "I think it is a great idea!"

"Yeah you also thought that charging your phone with a car battery would be a great idea," Jiro said, starting to laugh uncontrollably. "Your hair was charred black and you were on crutches for three days and you swore that it almost worked out. It was hilarious! Oh, or that time you tried making a Tesla coil out of tin foil, magnets, and a bunch of hair ties. You were jittery and twitchy for at least 2 days after that, hahaha!" Kaminari smiled lightly. Despite being made fun of, Kaminari relished the fact that Jiro paid this much attention to him, even if it was just to laugh at him. At least he could say he made her laugh. That was one of the keys to a long happy relationship right? Kaminari loved to see her smile and he knew she found joy (although some might consider it sadistic) in his suffering and it made her smile. So sometimes Kaminari did stupid things on purpose just to hear her beautiful laugh and glowing smile.

"I'm fine with it," Todoroki shrugged, seemingly uninterested.

"Same," Izuku said, although he seemed more enthusiastic, apparently thinking about being able to finally hang out properly with Uraraka.

"Tch. Whatever," was all Bakugo had to say on the matter.

"Then it's settled," Mina exclaimed. "We're going to hang out all as a big group and everyone is going to get along!" This was going to be interesting.

It turned out that Kaminari was only kinda right. Things on the whole were actually kinda normal. Nobody murdered anybody and they managed to be able to hang out with each other without many issues. Of course, Yaomomo (as she insisted on being called) avoided Todoroki, Uraraka avoided Izuku and Jiro avoided Kaminari. The only set that seemed to be hanging out was Asui and Bakugo and that was mostly due to Asui's effort. Every time Bakugo tried to shake Asui she just ended up back next to him chatting up a storm. He couldn't shake her. Eventually, Mina and Kirishima deemed the group stable enough to be left alone. So they slinked off to do whatever couples do and left the 8 of them alone. They stood around awkwardly now having lost their social compasses.

"Sooo…" Kaminari started stretching to kill the silence. "What should we do now? I mean I think we should sit down for lunch because it's about that time and just get to know each other."

"Hmm, that's a surprisingly good idea, especially from you Jamming Whey," Jiro said, twisting her headphones between her fingers.

"Hey that hurts you know?" Kaminari said indignantly.

"I think that it is a good idea personally," Izuku said timidly.

"I concur and I'm sure Bakugo does as well," Asui said, grabbing Bakugo by the arm.

"NO I FUC…" Bakugo shouted before being cut off by Asui's hand covering his mouth.

"Yes he does," Asui said with a smile.

"Fine, I guess there could be worse things to do," Uraraka said, sighing.

Kaminari looked to his left and asked Todoroki, "What do you think man?"

"What were we talking about," Todoroki said, looking at Kaminari. It was then that Kaminari noticed that Todoroki had been looking at Yaoyorozu. So as the good friend he was he had to help him get in better graces with Yaomomo.

"We were talking about getting to know each other better over lunch," Kaminari said with a smile.

"Oh okay. Then yeah that sounds like a good idea," Todoroki said, glancing back at Yaoyorozu.

"Well that's the majority so we should find a place to eat," Asui said, dragging Bakugo with her. "So how should we do this to get to know each other anyway?"

"I…I had an idea," Izuku said, raising his hand.

"What is Deku?" Asui asked, tilting her head.

"W…w…well I…i…I was thinking that since the guys all know each other and the girls no each other then maybe we could do like 10 minute rotations with each other where we can talk to each other and learn all about each other," Izuku said slowly gaining confidence. "And then after that we can all get together and hang out as a group after we've all gotten to know each other."

"Wow, Deku actually has a good idea for once," Uraraka says, looking surprised.

"Yeah. Honestly it's a miracle that he even got into U.A.," Bakugo said before being violently slapped upside the head by Asui.

"I agree with Midoriya," Asu said, nodding. "How should we decide the order though?"

"I think we should start with the girls and order them by height from shortest to tallest at tables. These tables will go from left to right, shortest to tallest. Then we'll randomly select boys to be matched with the girls. Then we move every 10 minutes down the line until you're matched with your original partner," Izuku states, rubbing his chin deep in thought. "That way we don't have to worry about confusion of who moves where because only the boys will be moving and the order is linear."

"That is a great idea Midoriya," Yaoyorozu said with a look of approval on her face. "I never pegged you for being such a deep thinker. I look forward to getting to know you better." This caused Izuku to blush before mumbling something about getting to know her as well and some other things Kaminari couldn't hear. The whole idea was genius if you asked Kaminari (which no one did of course). It would hopefully give him and Jiro a chance to start over. They got 4 tables and put the girls in height order from right to left. In order it was Asui, Jiro, Uraraka and (obviously) Yaomomo. Then the boys drew lots to see who got put with who. In the end Kaminari was put with Asui, Bakugo with Jiro, Todoroki with Uraraka, and Izuku with Yaomomo. This meant that Kaminari would be up next to get to know Jiro. This was good because it gave Kaminari to chill his nerves and relax by talking to Asui. She seemed like a very chill person so Kaminari figured that this would be a piece of cake. As the boys sat down Izuku raised his hand and counted down from 5 with his fingers indicating when they would officially start. As soon as Izuku lowered his hand their 10 minutes would officially start. Then he lowered his hand and it was time to start.

"So…" Kaminari started trying to think of something to say. "What do you like to do as a hobby?"

"Hmm that is a good question Kaminari," Asui said, putting her pointer finger to her lip (a habit Kaminari noticed she did when she was deep in thought). "I would have to say that I like swimming. It's always been something that I've been passionate about. What about you Kaminari? What do you do for a hobby other than horribly electrocuting yourself?"

"Ha ha ha," Kaminari said sarcastically as Asui giggled. "I love playing video games. I also just like messing around with electronics, which I guess does lead me to getting electrocuted often. But it's just something that I enjoy. Although I have started learning to play the electric guitar so that's something!"

"You're only learning it because it has 'electric' in the name," Asui said, shaking her head.

"Not true," Kaminari said defensively. "I…well I have my reasons."

"And one of those reasons wouldn't happen to be a certain indigo haired girl at the table next to us right," Asui said quietly with a mischievous smile.

"Wha…WHAT!" Kaminari shouted. Everyone looked over at them so Kaminari played off with a "Whoops my bad guys," before turning back to Asui. "I have no idea what you're talking about Asui."

"Sure Kaminari," She said with a wink. "Also you can call me Sui."

"Alright Sui. Thanks for not getting any funny ideas," Kaminari said blushing from the embarrassment of it all.

"Oh they aren't funny ideas Kaminari," Sui said while taking a drink of her water. "I know it for a fact. I've seen the way you look at her. You're about as subtle as a Sherman tank. Whenever she walks into a room you immediately look at her and you get this aura about you like you just won the lottery whenever she acknowledges you."

"I do not," Kaminari said knowing damn well he did.

"Whatever you want to believe in, Kaminari," Sui said giggling. "Just know I'm rooting for you!"

"Thanks Sui, and if we're talking about obvious things don't think I don't see the way you look at Bakugo," Kaminari said, deciding to turn the tables on Sui. It worked like a charm. Sui started getting fidgety and blushed a light pink.

"I don't know what you're talking about Kaminari," Sui said, not looking at him.

"Yeah you do," Kaminari said knowing he had gained the upper hand. "You can't leave that guy alone. Always talking to him and looking at him." Kaminari paused before taking a deep breath and continuing, "Look Sui, I don't want to come off as rude but while I wish you the best of luck I don't think Bakugo has or ever will see anyone romantically. He just doesn't seem like the type you know?"

"Yes I do," she said sadly. "But I see something in him that everyone else seems to ignore," she said looking more confident. "I think that he has it in him to have feelings. He just needs someone to help knock his massive walls down, and I think that I can do that." Kaminai had never seen her so confident before. She almost had him believing that she could do it.

"Alright, I trust you Sui," Kaminari said, taking a sip of his water. "Best of luck to the both of us then I guess."

"Yeah, although not to make this a contest, I think my task is infinitely harder than yours," Sui said, shrugging.

"Have you seen the way she glares at me? She hates my guts!" Kaminari exclaimed. "Yeah I get Bakugo is a whole nother level but that doesn't mean I have a cake walk!"

"It's not my place to say but I'll tell you this Kaminari," Sui leaned in. "It won't actually be as hard as you think it will be for you. It's because…"

"Alright, that's the first round over," Izuku exclaimed, cutting Sui off. "All right we'll be…" he was cut off by a loud scream coming from the square.

"What the hell is that?" Kaminari said standing to get a better look, and what he saw made him want to vomit. Several people were standing over the bodies of others and… oh god were they… eating them? Kaminari saw a couple of cars crash into each other only 10 feet from where Kaminari and the others were standing. Their collision caused a massive explosion that blew all of them back. Kaminari felt his head smash against a wall and everything went black

AN: Now we are getting to the good stuff. This should allow me to start getting really into this so hopefully I'll post the next chapter shortly. Like I said sorry that it's shorter but I've been busy out the wazoo. Anyway not much to say. I'm really tired and need to do more studying so see y'all later. :)
