Chapter 2: The Trans-Personality Swapper
The very next morning, after beginning my normal morning rituals, as well as getting the address from a mutual friend of ours (mostly Amy Rose), I was on my way to see Tails.
It was upon my arrival and telling him that I needed to borrow his (as he called it) Trans-Personality Swapper, that's when the two-tailed young kitsune gave his thoughts on the whole matter… safe to say, he was not buying my story.
"But, Tails…" I pleaded with doe eyes*1, as brought my story to a close
"No," he said, his tone sounding firm with finality. "I tell you 'no', Rouge.*2 I refuse to let you use one of my devices I created in the name of science so you can use it for some ill-gotten thievery and later have the device be traced back to me, should the police come asking me questions."
"Tell me the truth," I asked Sonic's 'little bro'*3 with a heavy sigh, "am I getting that predictable?"*4
"Well, quite frankly… yes," he replied without a moment's hesitation and nod of his head. "But that aside, that's not the only reason I'm not gonna let you use my Trans-Personality Swapper."
"What other reason could there besides my predictability?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"The TPS remains untested." As Tails explained the situation at hand, it was quite clear that I didn't like the sound of that. "As such, I'm not sure if there are still bugs in the system." He quickly got a glimmer of mischief in my eyes and became firm again, "Even once I get it working properly, I'm still not gonna loan it to you."
It was then and there that I made an important decision in my mind: if I couldn't have the device to my demands by asking nicely, I would have to steal it.
"Very well then, Tails," I sighed in faux sadness, "if that's your decision, I'll just go."
* PAGE BREAK *
And so I left… but later on, I came by that same afternoon to see if Tails was testing the device. Luckily for me, my time was both at an opportune and inopportune moment to catch him testing the device.
"Why's that?" you ask me.
And to that I say, "Simple—it was upon my return to the outside of Tails's home, I saw the little guy test the TPS on himself and Sonic, who happened to be in the neighborhood, and who was going to have some lunch with his adopted little brother. I'm proud to say that whereas the device gave Sonic the geeky and nerdy type personality like Tails, Tails had Sonic's personality. A few minutes later, they then restored themselves back to normal."
I knew right then, my plan to steal the device would still unfold that night, when Tails was sure to be asleep. Sure enough, that's what came to pass.
* PAGE BREAK *
It was roughly around midnight while I was dressed all in black to look like a ninja*5 to make my way to the little guy's humble abode. After sneaking in through a ventilation shaft, I squeezed in to make my way through the garage, but naturally, I got stuck for a moment or two.*6
When at last I got inside the garage, I saw that the Tornado*7 plane was well polished and kept dutifully clean, I also saw many other devices of Tails's making, each with a unique purpose… but I had no time to lollygag around, I had to stick to my objective at hand.
But just as I approached the glass case, two things caught my eye: the first was a sample of dark brown bat fur*8 that was not mine and the second was the fact someone (maybe this other person) had used a glass cutter to hack into the glass container and steal the TPS device before I could.
Kuso,*9 I cursed to myself in anger, now knowing I would have to fashion my disguise the old-fashioned way and still learn how to play Street Fighter II all by myself.
Not another word said, I left Tails's home.
Meanwhile, all unbeknownst to me, Tails had seen what was supposedly security footage of me (or the imposter who looked like me) stealing his gizmo and began to write a report to the police to arrest me on the spot if they ever came across me. They agreed to keep an eye out for me.
But little did he know, whoever that dark brown furred bat was, it wasn't me—male or female, they were the one's that stole Tails's device, may Chaos have mercy on their soul*10, they would soon feel my wrath, if I ever found them, the baka.*9
Author's Notes:
• So that was the second of 5 chapters, let me know what you all think so far.

EASTER EGGS:
1: This classic cliché/trope is also known as "puppy-dog/kitten eyes".
2: No big homage here, except for the fact I may have been inspired by the first words uttered by Norman Bates's mother in the movie version of Psycho.
3: If you don't know why Sonic refers to Tails like this, how can you call yourself a Sonic fan?
4: I may or may not have been inspired by quote that Evil the Cat once said in the Earthworm Jim cartoon when I thought of using this quote.
5: The ninja disguise Rouge once wore was inspired by something she once wore as seen the Sonic X anime.
6: This was a nod to the Grinch getting stuck for a moment or two in a chimney as seen in Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, be it the book or adaptations.
7: Again, if you don't know all about Sonic and Tails's famous airplane, how you call yourself a Sonic fan?
8. Take note of this fur color Rouge came across, it's going to play a big part in my story later on.
• Rest assured, as Rouge pointed out, it is not hers.
9. Kuso and baka are Japanese words that I decided to use here.
• So whereas kuso means "Damn", baka, on the other hand, means "idiot".
- The latter of which I'm sure has been said a lot in various Japanese anime cartoons.
10. This is just a paraphrase on the saying, "May God have mercy on my/your/their/his/her soul."
Until the next chapter, my fellow readers and gamers:
