Chapter 3: Through the Pipes

It had been a week since their run-in with Sector Security and Roxas got his hands on a runner. Since then Yusei helped him construct his own Turbo Duel deck and showed him how to drive his runner.
Soon, the night finally came when Yusei and Roxas would make their break for the city through the pipe.
"You sure you want me to come along with you, Yusei?" Roxas asks putting on his helmet.
"Absolutely. I'm gonna need some backup when I'm in the city." Yusei nods.
"Alright guess, the main service hatch opens exactly at midnight and only stays open for 3 minutes. You better move fast." Nervin warns.
"As long Roxas can keep up with Yusei they'll be fine." Tank said.
"Almost forgot." Rally said jumping down and handing Yusei a card. "For luck."
"What is it?" Yusei asks.
"Turbo Booster." Rally smiles.
"Wasn't this your father's card?" Yusei asks.
"I want you to have it. You never know when you might need a boost." Rally smiles.
"Hey don't I get anything?" Roxas smirks.
"Sorry Roxas only one copy." Rally shrugs.
"Ready Roxas?" Yusei asks putting on his helmet.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Roxas said.
"Let's rev it up!" Yusei said as they started their engines.
"We'll be with you two on the monitor!" Rally said.
"Don't slow down for anything!" Blitz said as they raced out.
At Sector Security, two lights went off.
"We have a signal Yusei's gone topside and his friend who stole a Security Runner is with him." A man said as a large guy with black hair and a security uniform came in with Mulan. This was Officer Trudge.
"Where are they heading?" Mulan asks as Trudge looked at the screen.
"Lock onto them and don't lose the signal." Trudge running out.
"I'll come too." Mulan said but Trudge stopped her.
"Please you couldn't even get the runner thief. You're out of your league." Trudge mocks as he ran ahead without her causing Mulan to growl annoyed.
"Ugh men. They think they can do everything." Mulan growls as Trudge raced after them on his runner.
Running to the spot, Rally, Blitz, Nervin and Tank set up the computer to monitor Roxas and Yusei.
"Okay we're in." Nervin said as Roxas and Yusei neared the Sewage Plant.
"Warning! Warning! You are now entering unauthorized zone! Turn back immediately!" The speakers said as the gate closed.
Suddenly Trudge rammed into Yusei causing him to bump into Roxas.
"Where do you think you two are going?!" Trudge asks.
"Trudge?" Yusei said surprised.
"Friend of yours?" Roxas asks.
"Not even a little Roxas!" Yusei said.
"Don't you two know it's past curfew?! Pullover and return that Security runner!" Trudge orders but instead Yusei and Roxas race ahead. Revving the engine Yusei jumped over the fence.
Roxas narrows his eyes and on the right side of his runner summoned the Oathkeeper Keyblade so Trudge couldn't see it and fires a beam of light so the gate opened for him.
'Yes! Good to know I can still use these things.' Roxas grins as he came up behind Yusei.
"How did he do that?" Trudge asks surprised.
"They're going for the compactors." Hansen said through the security line.
"Don't worry, there's nowhere for them to run." Trudge said.
As the two of them raced to the compactor Trudge started to gain on them.
"You may have beaten me in our last duel Yusei, but I have something special planned. And thanks to that chip you installed I can force you into a Turbo Duel!"
"DUEL MODE ENGAGE! AUTOPILOT ACTIVATE!"
Roxas and Yusei gasp to see the Speed World spell activating and Yusei's runner engaging the duel disk.
"Yusei we don't have time for this!" Roxas said.
"Race ahead, at least you can go at full speed." Yusei said as Roxas revs the engine and moves ahead of the duel.
"Your friend won't get far! Once I'm done with you I'll take him down! Thanks to that acceleration chip you installed I can hack into your runner and the only way to break free is to beat me in duel." Trudge declared.
Yusei: 4000 SC: 0
Trudge: 4000 SC: 0
"Let me show you what my new deck can do!" Trudge drew. "I summon Gate Blocker in defense mode!" Appearing in front of Yusei was a giant wall monster with one eye forcing him to slow down.
Gate Blocker: 100/ 2000
"What is that thing?" Roxas asks.
"And with that, I'll play one card facedown." Trudge said ending his turn.
Yusei: 4000 SC: 0
Trudge: 4000 SC: 1
"Why didn't my Speed Counters increase?" Yusei asks.
"That's Gate Blocker's special ability! As long as it's on the field you can't gain any speed counters!" Trudge said.
"Not good." Roxas said as the clock on his duel runner turned midnight. "Really not good!"
"Don't worry Roxas I don't plan on losing this duel." Yusei drew. "I summon Speed Warrior in attack mode!" Appearing next to Yusei was a gray warrior with skates on his legs.
Speed Warrior: 900/ 400
"You used that card in our last duel, but even with its special ability to double its points they aren't enough." Trudge said as Speed Warrior glowed.
Speed Warrior: 1800
"I special summon Turbo Booster!" Yusei said playing Rally's card. "Now I activate Turbo Booster's ability to give Speed Warrior a little boost!"
"It's still not enough!" Trudge said as Turbo Booster was destroyed as it shot Speed Warrior at Gate Blocker destroying it.
Yusei: 3800 SC: 0
Trudge: 4000 SC: 1
"Good thing Rally gave you that card." Roxas said.
"You bet, and here comes our turn!" Yusei said as the two of them entered the waste disposal system.
"Hansen! They've entered the waste disposal system! Switch to the security cameras!" Trudge orders.
At the base, Mulan was watching the duel with interest.
"What are those two up to? That pipe is a straight line, they can't lose Trudge in there." Mulan said pausing to think as she looked down the path and her eyes widen in realization. "They're going for it."
"You two can't get rid of me that easy. I activate my Broken Blocker Trap which lets me summon two Gate Blockers!" Trudge said as two more blockers appeared in front of Yusei.
"Not more of those things." Roxas cringed.
"I place two cards facedown and end my turn." Yusei said as two cards appeared.
Yusei: 3800 SC: 0
Trudge: 4000 SC: 2
"You two aren't going anywhere and to make sure of that I summon Gonogo to the field in attack mode!" Trudge said as a giant black ball monster appeared. "Attack!"
Moving in Gonogo rams into Speed Warrior destroying it.
Yusei: 3350 SC: 0
Trudge: 4000 SC: 2
"My turn." Yusei drew and grins. "I summon the Tuner Monster Junk Synchron!" Appearing on his field was a little orange monster.
Junk Synchron: 1300/ 500
"And next I play Graceful Revival to bring back my Speed Warrior, but he won't around for long because I tune him and my Synchron in order to Synchro Summon Junk Warrior!" From the two monsters, a purple warrior with goggles and a long scarf appeared.
Junk Warrior: 2300/ 1300
"Okay that's a pretty cool monster." Roxas smirks.
"You think that's cool? Check this out. Junk Warrior Scrap Fist!" Yusei said as Junk Warrior flew in and punched Gonogo destroying it.
Yusei: 3350 SC: 0
Trudge: 3050 SC: 3
"You pulled that same card in our last duel, but that won't work this time." Trudge drew. "I summon Jutte Fighter in attack mode!" Appearing on his field was a small warrior with glasses.
Jutte Fighter: 700/ 900
"A Tuner Monster?!" Yusei gasps seeing what was coming next.
"Jutte Fighter, I tune you with one of my Gate Blockers in order to synchro summon Goyo Guardian!" Trudge said as his two monsters created a kabuki warrior with a chain.
Goyo Guardian: 2800/ 2000
"Now attack!" Goyo Guardian threw its weapon hitting Junk Warrior but instead of it getting destroyed Junk Warrior was tied up.
Yusei: 2850 SC: 0
Trudge: 2050 SC: 3
"You see when Goyo Guardian attacks it doesn't destroy a monster, it brings it over to my side of the field instead in defense mode." Trudge said.
"Good thing Mulan didn't use one of those on me." Roxas cringed.
Yusei: 2850 SC: 0
Trudge: 3050 SC: 4
"Now that my Speed Counters are high enough I can activate the Speed Spell Sonic Buster! With this card, I can deal damage equal to half the attack points of a monster on my side of the field. Like my Goyo Guardian!" Trudge said as Goyo Guardian fired a beam hitting Yusei in the chest.
Yusei: 1450 SC: 0
Trudge: 3050 SC: 4
"Oh man, that's a good card." Roxas said.
"Don't worry new guy. Once I finish off Yusei I'll give you a taste of this card so you don't feel left out. In the meantime, I activate a second Sonic Buster!" Trudge said as Goyo Guardian blasts Yusei again but this time he didn't notice Yusei's trap opening up.
Yusei: 50 SC: 0
Trudge: 3050 SC: 4
The damage from this one caused Yusei to drop all the way back next to Trudge.
'No, now Yusei will never make it.' Roxas thought.
"Neither of you are escaping. Once I finish you both off you two are going away for a long time." Trudge said.
"Not happening Trudge." Yusei drew.
Yusei: 50 SC: 0
Trudge: 3050 SC: 5
"What can you do? You have no monsters and you can't play any Speed Spells." Trudge said.
"I can play this, go Nitro Synchron!" Yusei said as a small red tuner monster appeared. "Next I play the Speed Spell Dash Pilfer!"
"You can't play any Speed Spells!" Trudge gasps.
"Yes I can, have a look." Yusei smirks revealing his trap. "When you played your second Sonic Buster I activated the trap Slip Stream which gives me the same amount of Speed Counters as you!" Revving his engine Yusei raced ahead.
Yusei: 50 SC: 5
Trudge: 3050 SC: 5
"Roxas get moving, I'll be with you in a second!" Yusei said as his spell brought Junk Warrior back to his side of the field.
"You better!" Roxas said racing ahead to a hatch.
"Oh no! You two are gonna use that hatch to escape the satellite!" Trudge realized.
"Took you long enough, but you're too late! I tune my level 2 Nitro Synchron with my level 5 Junk Warrior in order to create Nitro Warrior!" Appearing on his field was a green warrior with a giant flame booster coming out of his back.
Nitro Warrior: 2800/ 1800
"And that's not all Trudge. If my Nitro Warrior is summoned when a spell is activated it gains 1000 attack points!" Yusei declared.
"What?!" Trudge gasps.
Nitro Warrior: 3800/ 1800
"Attack Goyo Guardian with Dynamite Crunch!" Yusei said as Nitro Warrior punched Goyo Guardian destroying it.
Yusei: 50 SC: 5
Trudge: 2050 SC: 5
"This isn't over Yusei. I'll finish you off on my next turn." Trudge winced.
"No you won't because my Nitro Warrior has one more effect. When it destroys a monster in battle and you have a monster in defense mode like Gate Blocker it forces it into attack mode!" Yusei said.
"This duel is over." Roxas grins turning around and racing through the hatch.
"And even though my Nitro Warrior's attack goes back to 2800 it's still enough. Go!" Yusei said as Nitro Warrior flew in and destroyed Gate Blocker.
Yusei: 50 SC: 5
Trudge: 0000
"NO!" Trudge screams as his duel runner pulls back.
"Yusei! It's now or never!" Roxas yells as Yusei started to catch up when he passes through the hatch and garbage started to flood in.
"Come on stay open!" Yusei said dodging debris and slid under just as the hatch closed.
Trudge however gasped as the wave of trash came down on top of him.
"Central override the trash compactor! Override the trash!" Trudge yells.
Racing out the end of the hatch, Roxas and Yusei smile.
"We did it buddy!" Yusei said.
"Yeah we did." Roxas smiles
"Next stop, Neo Domino City!" Yusei said as they raced through all the way to the end.
When they came out they saw a Sector Security waiting up ahead.
"Oh no I need to find Jack." Yusei cringed not having time for this.
Roxas looks to Yusei, he may not have a reason for being in this city but Yusei does. He needs to find Jack and get his card back.
"Yusei, fall back." Roxas said surprising him.
"What? Roxas what are you doing?!" Yusei asks.
"I'll meet up with you when this is over! Find Jack and get your card back!" Roxas said racing ahead.
"Roxas!" Yusei yells as Roxas raced passed Sector Security getting his attention.
"Hey that's Sector Security property!" He said racing after him ignoring Yusei.
"Roxas." Yusei said shocked by the sacrifice Roxas did for him.
"Didn't know you got yourself a new sidekick Yusei." A familiar voice said getting his attention.
Looking up Yusei saw Jack Atlas looking down at him.
"Hello Jack." Yusei glares.
"If I had known you were bringing company, I would have had two officers stationed here to spoil the fun. What's his name?" Jack asks.
"His name is Roxas and he's a much better friend than you ever were." Yusei said.
"I'm hurt Yusei, after all this time that's what you say to me?" Jack mocks as the two old friends stared each other down.
Down the streets, Roxas was racing around trying to avoid Sector Security.
"Get back here!" He yells.
"No thanks I'm good!" Roxas turns down the streets trying to avoid him.
"You won't be able to outrun me when I put you in a turbo duel!" He said.
"Sorry, got places to be!" Roxas yells as spins the runner with all his might and swerves around a corner but ends up going right into an open truck making a crashing noise causing the door to close on him.
When the Security Officer turns a corner, he saw no sign of Roxas anywhere so he couldn't activate Speed World.
"How in the? Where did he go?" He asks when a man starts up the truck Roxas was in and drove off.
Inside the truck, Roxas groaned in pain having hit the truck floor hard and his runner was lying next to him before he blacked out.
After what felt like hours, the truck finally came to a stop.
"Hey Sal, you got my order?" A female voice said.
"Yep all in the back." A male voice said as the hatch opens to reveal a girl with long black hair, a white sleeveless shirt, and a black miniskirt.
"What the?" She gasps seeing Roxas lying unconscious inside.
"Hey Tifa is everything alright back there?" The driver asks.
"Uh yeah Sal just give me a second to get everything." Tifa said climbing in and picked Roxas up and carried him and his runner inside.
