Hiccup's morning is off to a pretty good start. Considering how much he pushed himself yesterday, his pain isn't too bad. His ribs and head are a little sore, with most of the hurt coming from his leg of course. Willow bark tea will help with the lingering aches. As he heats up the water, his mind goes back to last night. His father had actually listened to him. Stoick had stood just several paces from a Night Fury – even watched his son embrace the creature – and let Hiccup speak before reacting. Prior to last night, Hiccup hadn't thought his dad was capable of any of that. He has never been so happy to be proven wrong.
As Hiccup raises the cup to take a sip of tea, the front door of the house is violently thrown open. The force causes it to bounce off the wall behind the door and rattle the hinges.
"Hiccup? Hiccup!" Astrid yells, storming into the house.
Startled by the intrusion, Hiccup spills some of the hot tea down his front. "Ow – what the hel Astrid?"
At his words, Astrid deflates a little, letting out a big breath. As the air leaves her, so does some of her frantic energy. "Oh thank Thor you're okay."
"Well I was," he grumbles a little, setting the cup down and wiping at the spill on his tunic, before turning to face her. "What has you breaking down my front door on this lovely morning?"
"Stoick has been down at the docks all morning getting a boat ready," she explains. "He's doing it all by himself; he won't let anyone else help. The rumor is that he finally decided how to deal with you being a traitor."
"By doing what?" Hiccup asks. "Sailing out and dropping me in the middle of the ocean with no witnesses?"
Astrid shrugs. "People were saying you were probably already below deck and that's why the chief wouldn't let anyone else near the boat. I figured it probably wasn't true, but with how crazy things have been around here lately, I had to make sure."
"Well, he's definitely not planning on killing me for treason," Hiccup reassures. "Quite the opposite actually." At Astrid's confused frown, he explains. "I talked with him last night, introduced him to Toothless. It went really well actually."
"You're telling me that the Chief of Berk made nice with a Night Fury?" She tries not to let too much surprise seep into her voice, but at Hiccup's amused chuckle, it's clear she's not very successful.
"I don't know if 'made nice' is exactly how I would have put it, but yeah. I told him about us finding the nest and stopping the queen. He believed me," Hiccup grins.
Pulling up a chair next to him, Astrid smiles back as she takes a seat. "That's amazing Hiccup! So, what now?"
"Just because he believes me doesn't mean everyone else will. And honestly, I don't blame them," he shrugs. "Hiccup the Useless being the one to end the war against dragons? I've heard more believable stories from the twins, and that's saying something."
Astrid crosses her arms. "So what is the boat for?"
"Proof. If we can show everyone that the war is over, give them evidence they can't deny, then they'll have to believe us." He pauses, taking a drink of his tea before continuing. "We're gonna sail out to the nest. Toothless is gonna guide us. My dad probably won't let anyone near the boat so they can't see that it's loaded up with enough fish to feed a dragon."
Astrid looks him over, her eyes landing on his leg before going back to his face. "And you're okay going back?" She asks, peering at him. "After everything that happened there?"
Hiccup runs a hand through his hair and sucks a sharp breath in through his teeth. "Does it matter? Toothless has to be the one to guide us there, and he's not going without me. I'll be fine."
Taking a moment, Astrid considers everything he's saying, worrying the edge of her bottom lip between her teeth, before she nods to herself and announces with an air of finality. "I'm coming with you."
"Um – what?" Hiccup blinks at her dumbly.
She rolls her eyes at his expression and repeats, "I'm coming with you." She sounds no less sure saying it the second time around. "You're not recovered yet. Clearly you have no concern about your own wellbeing, and I'm sure the Chief will be too focused on the idea of finally reaching the nest to be giving it much thought either. And besides, the ship Stoick is loading up is small, but it is still a ship. If the weather turns and he needs any help, you won't be able to."
If there is anything Hiccup has learned in recent weeks, it's that there is no point arguing with Astrid once she has set her mind to something. "Fine," he relents, pointedly ignoring the satisfactory grin that spreads across her face as he gets up and begins to gather a few things into his satchel. "But you get to be the one who tells my dad why you decided to invite yourself along."
There is no way they could get down to the docks with Toothless without being seen, so Hiccup worked out a plan ahead of time to get them onto the ship undetected. Per the plan, Astrid, Hiccup, and Toothless head to the beach overlook where they had observed the Nadders. They don't have to wait long for Stoick to pull the boat around to that side of the island, getting it as close to the shore as he can. From there, Hiccup and Astrid climb onto Toothless' back. With a running start and a strong leap, Toothless launches himself from the overlook so they can glide out. It's a wobbly flight, with Toothless lacking the prosthetic tailfin, but he manages to get them all onboard, though the landing is a little rough.
As they touch down on the wooden deck with a thud, Stoick notices the extra passenger and raises an eyebrow questioningly towards Hiccup. The boy raises his hands. "Don't look at me. She's the one who insisted on coming."
Stoick turns to Astrid, who crosses her arms and meets his gaze with a steady one of her own. After a moment, Stoick sighs, turning to head back to the wheel. "Astrid, help me adjust the sail."
"Yes, sir." She says, grinning as she gets to work.
Hiccup rolls his eyes. "Oh, so she doesn't get interrogated? I see how it is."
Behind him, Toothless laughs.
As Astrid and Stoick get them sailing towards open water, Hiccup hangs his satchel off a peg on the mast, and he and Toothless make their way to the front of the ship. The boat cuts through the water, sending up a salty spray. Misty droplets cling to Hiccup's skin and Toothless' scales, cooling them. Though technically winter is fast approaching, the sun is high in a cloudless sky today, and Toothless' dark scales especially soak up the warmth from the rays.
Hiccup inhales deeply. Despite the ache in his ribs, it's refreshing. Sailing is much different from flying, but they share some similar freedoms. Hopefully, it won't be long before the boy and Night Fury are soaring through the skies again as they are meant to.
"There's this saying," Hiccup says, his forearms coming to rest on the edge of the ship. "Don't count your chickens before they hatch."
Tilting his head, Toothless regards him with a confused frown. Why are they talking about chickens?
Hiccup laughs at his expression. "It's not literally about chickens, bud. I've just been thinking – technically we haven't ended the war yet, but it's looking really promising right now. Maybe I should be more nervous that our metaphorical chickens won't hatch and it'll all go south, but my dad is actually listening to me for once. How am I not supposed to be optimistic?"
Hiccup turns to watch Astrid and Stoick work for a moment. Stoick makes a command and Astrid complies, tying a knot to secure some rope with nimble fingers. They're both risking a lot being out here, but they are here with him regardless.
He turns to face Toothless again. "I really would have done it if this had turned out differently. You and me against the unknowns of the great beyond," he says, gesturing out at the open sea in front of them. "I would have left it all behind if I had to, if it meant being with you and keeping you safe."
Toothless leans in, crooning happily and nuzzling Hiccup's side. The boy settles his hand on top of his head, running his knuckles over the scales on his brow.
Smiling, Hiccup says, "Yeah bud, I'm glad it worked out this way too."
As the ship passes over a bit of a wave, Hiccup wobbles, glad he has Toothless right there to lean on. The Night Fury grumbles at his lack of balance, as it is a sharp reminder of everything his boy has suffered recently. Though this journey has great purpose, Hiccup really should still be resting. Determined to make this happen, Toothless lays down on the deck before tugging lightly on the end of Hiccup's sleeve with his gums.
Hiccup sighs. "Really bud? I hardly think it's time for a nap."
Toothless just tugs more firmly on his sleeve. Now, Hiccup could try to protest further, but there is really no point. Toothless, being the stubborn Night Fury he is, would just pretend he suddenly couldn't understand a word Hiccup was saying. Besides, Toothless really is great to cuddle with. So he gives in, letting the dragon pull him down and curl around him. There, surrounded by the warmth of his best friend, Hiccup is powerless against the pull of sleep.
On the other side of the ship, Astrid has finished adjusting the sail and Stoick has a steady hand on the wheel. Together, they watch the exchange – Astrid's gaze fond and Stoick's still a bit bewildered.
"That dragon really cares for my son," the chief states.
"That dragon really loves your son," Astrid subtly corrects, "and Hiccup loves him back. It's really amazing how they are with each other."
"I'm honestly still trying to wrap my head around it," Stoick shakes his head. "By Thor, if Hiccup came across that dragon in the woods when it was injured, it should have eaten him. I'm grateful it didn't, but now things are changing and as a chief, I'm expected to lead my people into that change." He pauses, his gaze still on Hiccup and Toothless, but it looks like it is miles away. "How am I supposed to do that when I still can't fully grasp what I see happening right before me?"
"Hiccup and Toothless are just one example," Astrid points out, "and definitely the craziest one." She crosses over to Hiccup's satchel momentarily, retrieving a journal from inside before going back to Stoick and extending it towards him. "Maybe this will help."
Stoick reaches out and grabs the journal, thumbing it open to the inside cover where Hiccup has gently carved Property of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III into the leather. The first page proudly proclaims in confident charcoal strokes 'The NEW Book of Dragons'. Past that, the pages are full of notes and sketches – Toothless, Terrible Terrors, Deadly Nadders, Gronckles. Hiccup has always been an inquisitive boy, and Stoick can feel his son's excitement over making new discoveries in the pages. The notes are informative, and the completely opposite of what was in the first Book of Dragons. Where the original talks of the dangers of dragons and various ways to kill them, the notes here speak of feeding routines, sleeping habits, and how dragons interact with one another. His eyes catch on some drawings of Terrible Terrors, playing and lounging, and it puts into perspective just how differently Hiccup sees the dragons than anyone else.
"Thank you for this Astrid," Stoick says, eyes not leaving the journal.
"Anytime Chief," she says, leaving him to keep reading in peace.
Toothless and Hiccup are up and alert by the time they reach the fog bank. The fog is thick and impossible to see through, obscuring rocks and wrecked ships until impact is almost imminent. Toothless guides them, ears twitching and quivering as he picks up distant noises only he can hear. From the wheel, Stoick watches the motion and adjusts their course accordingly, weaving the ship between the obstacles in their way.
Everyone is silent, making the other sounds seem so much louder – the movement of the water, the creaking of shipwrecks they pass, the chittering of dragons that gets louder as they get closer to the island. Below, the water has a blackish tint. As Hiccup leans over the edge of the ship to get a closer look, he can see a thin black film resting on top of the water, shifting strangely as the ship disrupts the surface tension. Ash – and it gets thicker the closer they get.
Eventually, they break through the thick of the fog and the ship comes to rest at the rocky shore of the island. Stoick jumps down from the deck and the moment his feet touch down on the ground, the buzzing of the dragons cuts off. The only sound remaining is the crunch of the rocks beneath his boots.
The dragons fled when Hiccup and Toothless had fought the queen, but some of them must have returned. Definitely not as many as before, though. With the queen no longer keeping the vast amount of dragons here, they'll have to go somewhere, migrating out to neighboring islands. Some will likely end up on Berk. There may already be some new dragons taking up residence in the woods and on the lesser used beaches.
The dragons that returned to the island must be in the tunnels dotting the remaining parts of the volcano's walls, because the rocky beach is a complete disaster. Hiccup, unconscious after the fight, is seeing things now for the first time. The fires have mostly burned themselves out, leaving the queen's remains charred or still smoldering, but there is still plenty of evidence of what happened. It's not a pretty sight, and the smell is even worse.
Astrid hops down to join Stoick on the shore, and they both turn to expectantly look up at Hiccup and Toothless still on the deck.
Hiccup swallows roughly. "I think Toothless and I will stay on the ship."
Astrid frowns, eyes tightening around the edges in concern, but she and Stoick nod, heading off to get the evidence they need. As they get further from the ship, the reality of the carnage they are walking through begins to weigh on them.
"I can't believe Hiccup was here," Astrid finds herself saying. "I mean, look at this place." She gestures to the bulk of the carcass in front of them. "It's a miracle of Odin he survived."
"Aye, lass." Stoick agrees. "Perhaps the truer miracle was that they were able to fly back with their injuries. I've seen larger Vikings more battle-hardened that wouldn't have had the strength."
"Yeah," Astrid agrees, nervously reaching up with one hand and gripping at her bicep. She still hasn't mentioned to Stoick the mysterious woman who brought Hiccup and Toothless back, and now is definitely not the time.
They come to a stop at the base of the Queen's skull, comparable in size to a home back on Berk. The sheer size of it has both Stoick and Astrid standing speechless for a moment as they imagine Hiccup here, fighting for his life – for the lives of everyone on Berk, really.
With the way the Queen crashed and the fact that the fires have burned much of the flesh away, the teeth are exposed. Stoick walks up to one of the smaller teeth in the lower jaw and works to remove it. It takes a moment, but eventually it comes free. Though it's one of the smaller teeth, it still matches Astrid in height.
"A dragon tooth of this size should be just the proof we need," Stoick says, lifting it and beginning the trek back to the ship.
Astrid can't help but agree. She thinks back to the Book of Dragons, and the largest dragon she can recall being commonly located near Berk is a Scauldron. This tooth makes a Scauldron look small in comparison. The people of Berk will have to believe a tooth of this size came from the Queen.
When they get the tooth loaded back onto the ship, Toothless lets out a low growl. Hiccup reaches out automatically to comfort him. "Would you look at that, the teeth are just as big as I remember," he jokes.
Toothless huffs at him, definitely not amused.
Hiccup ignores him, giving the tooth a nod. "Yeah, I definitely think this will do the trick. If this doesn't convince everyone, nothing will."
"It will work," Stoick assures him. "But even then, that's just the beginning. It won't be easy to change from a society at war with dragons to one at peace with them."
"Easy? Who said anything about easy?" Hiccup asks sarcastically. "I'm sure killing an evil dragon the size of a mountain will seem simple compared to convincing a bunch of stubborn Vikings to change."
Stoick and Astrid both laugh, but Toothless subtly nuzzles against Hiccup's side. Though Hiccup's tone had levity, Toothless can tell just how nervous Hiccup is to face the rest of the Vikings.
The tension Hiccup carries only intensifies as they get closer to Berk. Hiccup, Toothless, and Astrid are sent below deck as they approach the docks. As far as everyone is aware, Stoick was alone on the ship when he left and it should appear the same on arrival.
The three of them get settled below deck. Normally, Hiccup would pace to get out some of the nervous energy, but that's not really an option right now. Instead, he sits, nervously wringing his hands as he leans back against the hull. Toothless comes over to lie next to him, resting his head in Hiccup's lap. Reflexively, Hiccup stops his fidgeting and starts running his fingers over Toothless' scales. The Night Fury hums, pleased with the outcome.
Astrid notices Hiccup's unease and sits cross-legged in front of him. "What's wrong?" She asks. "I wasn't expecting you to be this nervous about getting back. The Queen is dead. Your father knows about Toothless. The hard stuff is over."
"Just because the hardest parts are over doesn't mean what lies ahead isn't easy," Hiccup points out. "Telling the truth to an entire village of stubborn Vikings isn't exactly a stroll through the sheep fields, if you know what I mean."
"But Hiccup, we have the proof now," she reminds him. "With a dragon tooth that size and the word of the chief to back it up, there is no room for disbelief."
"I'm glad one of us can be optimistic." Hiccup tilts his head back, letting it rest against the wooden hull with a dull thud. "Did you forget that I'm the most disliked person on Berk?"
Astrid winces. "I don't know if I'd go as far as saying the most disliked. The only person who likes Mildew is Fungus, and he's a sheep."
"But even Mildew contributes with his cabbage fields!" Hiccup throws his hands up, a bitter note in his voice. "Not like Hiccup the Useless. Honestly, with all the destruction I've accidentally caused during raids, I'm surprised I haven't earned a worse title."
Toothless jerks his head, smacking Hiccup with an ear flap to admonish him for the negative self talk. He wouldn't let anyone else talk about his boy that way, so what makes Hiccup think he's allowed?
Astrid smiles at the Night Fury's gentle assault. "I agree with Toothless. You're too hard on yourself. It took almost four hundred years of Berk's existence for someone like you to come along. Maybe you're someone who's clumsy and disaster prone, but you're also someone who is kind enough and brave enough to end a war that has lasted for centuries by yourself." Her eyes flit to Toothless momentarily. "Well, almost by yourself," she corrects. "My point is – if everyone is too stupid to see how great you are, then they're the useless ones."
Hiccup smiles. "Thanks Astrid." The thought of standing in front of everyone and telling them the truth still has him feeling a bit perturbed, but he finds comfort in knowing both Astrid and Toothless will be standing by his side.
As Stoick brings the ship into the docks, he stands tall with his shoulders back and head high. Over the years, Stoick has been on countless voyages in search of the nest. Each time he'd brought his people back, it was with the added weight of defeat and shame. Today, those feelings could not be further away. Though he was not the one to kill the tyrant dragon, he can still revel in the victory.
It's bittersweet knowing that Hiccup was the one to end the war against the dragons. Even though it was accomplished through the unconventional means of befriending a Night Fury, Stoick couldn't be more proud. It's the kind of thing you only hear about in legends of old, and yet it was his son, such a frail thing when he was born that they weren't sure he'd survive his first winter. He defied the odds then and he's defied them again now. If only it hadn't come at such a steep price. The loss of a limb isn't unusual in Berk, but it's rare for someone as young as Hiccup. Being friends with Gobber, Stoick knows that even when you adapt, there are certain hardships that never go away.
Perhaps worse than the physical cost is the mental one. Hiccup had tried showing Stoick the truth, only for his father to label him a traitor and lock him in a cell. Hiccup's trust in his father suffered a critical blow. Stoick could see it in the gazes cast his way and the gazes averted, in the hesitancy and trepidation of his speech. In a time of desperation, Hiccup needed his father to believe him, and Stoick let him down. Trust is a frail thing – so easily broken and so difficult to piece back together again. It wouldn't be easy to regain his son's trust, but he'll work at it for the rest of his days if that's what it takes.
Gobber, having seen the ship approaching, is waiting for him at the docks. "Welcome back Chief." The blacksmith knew as little about his journey as everyone else, except for the knowledge that Hiccup was not in danger of being cast out at sea.
"Gobber, I need you to get everyone gathered in the Great Hall. I have news to share."
"Good news, I hope," Gobber says. "With how things have been lately, I think the people could use a reason to celebrate."
"It is surely a victory worth celebrating," Stoick assures. "Gather the people. I will join once everyone is amassed."
Gobber is off at once, giving Stoick the time he needs to go over the plan with Hiccup and Astrid.
As quickly as Gobber could manage, the Great Hall is filled with Vikings. Men, women, and children wait together for word from their chief, whispering speculation of what they're going to hear. When the doors are thrown open, the Vikings part immediately, forming a path to the head table. Stoick crosses the room confidently and the whispers steadily rise, culminating in shouted questions when he finally reaches his place.
"What's going on Chief?"
"Where did you go?"
"Where's Hiccup?"
"And the Hofferson girl too!"
He raises a hand, a silent call for quiet, and they comply, waiting with bated breath for his announcement.
"I come today bringing news the people of Berk have been waiting generations to hear," he calls out. "The war against the dragons is over!"
The Vikings are speechless. Stoick's right – every Viking has dreamed of this moment since they were a babe, but for it to happen on a random day instead of after a heated battle? It makes no sense. Wars don't just end without grave action.
"The dragons, like people, are at the mercy of their leader," Stoick goes on to explain. "But theirs was a tyrant Queen, enslaving her dragon subjects to raid us and bring her the spoils of war. A brave Viking was able to uncover this information and take a stand against the Queen of the nest. She is dead, and the raids will continue no longer."
Finally, the Vikings recover from their stupor and the shouting resumes, much louder than before. The workings of the dragons' nest have always been a mystery. Who could possibly have gained this knowledge? How?
Spitelout steps forward from the crowd, and people quiet enough to hear him above the commotion. "Are we just supposed to trust the word of some unknown Viking that the war is over?" It's a question, but the tone is accusatory.
Stoick meets his question with a firm gaze. "This Viking is not unknown to you." A pause then, and Stoick can see his people trying to puzzle out which brave Viking it must be, only to draw a blank. "The Dragon Queen was killed by my son."
Some of the Vikings laugh and the others frown deeply, but all of them are questioning the sanity of their chief. It's not easy to confront the treason of a loved one. Fourteen years ago, Stoick lost his wife and now he faces the loss of his son in a different form – it could be enough to fracture his mind and allow him to believe such an unbelievable tale.
Gobber, who has seen Hiccup and the state of his injuries, remains uncharacteristically quiet as he processes Stoick's words.
Mildew pushes his way to the front of the crowd – an easy task as people shift to avoid him. "Stoick, you can't believe everything the boy tells you just because you feel bad about jailing him. You have to face the fact that he's a traitor to Berk!"
People nod in agreement and Stoick's eyes harden. Raising a hand to his mouth, he whistles sharply. At the entrance of the Great Hall, where the doors are still wide open, Astrid comes into view, straining with effort as she pulls a cart from the side until it's on display for everyone to see. Eyes to widen and mouths fall open. A tooth, tall as the girl beside it, sits on the cart. They can only begin to imagine the size of the beast it came from.
"I am no fool. I sailed out to the nest to see with my own eyes what my son claimed. And when I got there, I saw the carcass of the tyrant beast and smelled the stench of death. The Queen is no more; the war is over."
They can hardly deny the proof in front of them. There can be no more doubt about the fate of the Queen, but can they really be expected to believe Hiccup was the one to end the war? The shouted questions return.
"How did Hiccup even find the nest?"
"How do we know he didn't just find the Queen already dead and claim the victory as his own?"
"How could a boy that small kill a beast that big?"
Stoick ignores their questions. Like with the tooth, it's clear they require proof. He locks eyes with Astrid and gives her a subtle nod. As she steps off to the side, Hiccup hobbles into view – a crutch under one arm and a Night Fury by his side.
Chaos erupts. People begin yelling and screaming. Children are tucked behind their mothers. Vikings who came armed draw their weapons, but none look particularly confident in the face of the offspring of lightning and death itself.
"SILENCE!" Stoick's voice booms, echoing around the cavernous space.
"Hiccup succeeded in finding the nest and killing the Queen because he wasn't alone. While the rest of us were blinded by our hatred of the beasts, Hiccup found a way to work with them. He arrived at the nest, not on a longship, but dragonback. It was Hiccup and his Night Fury together who ended the war."
Hiccup stands at the threshold of the Great Hall as his father speaks, waiting for someone to make a move. Surely someone with a weapon will lunge – but no one does. His grip on the crutch is like iron and his palm is coated with sweat. Toothless is also tense. He was willing to show himself to the Vikings, but that doesn't mean he can trust them. One wrong move and he is prepared to grab Hiccup and make a run for the forest.
"I know this war has gone on for generations, and it is all we know. Many of you, myself included, have lost loved ones in the raids." Stoick pauses, thinking of his wife's face, thinking of the people he was sworn to protect whose lives were lost to the dragons. "But Hiccup almost died so that no one else has to be lost to us. Perhaps more impressive then killing the Queen and ending the war, Hiccup has shown me that it is possible for dragons and Vikings to get along."
The people watch as Toothless nuzzles at Hiccup's side and the boy reaches out to stroke the scales atop his head. People stand mesmerized by the sight.
Mildew scoffs loudly, breaking the trance. "And how do we know this isn't some elaborate ruse your son has concocted with the Night Fury? He's always been different – how do we know that he hasn't just charmed the beast in some way? Just because it doesn't look like a danger to him, doesn't mean it's not a danger to us!"
Stoick opens his mouth to speak, but a sudden motion cuts him off. Snotlout steps out of the crowd, heading towards the doors of the Great Hall to stand next to Hiccup and Toothless. "That's crazy! Just because Hiccup is different doesn't mean he's going to train a dragon to eat all of us."
Fishlegs steps up to join them. "Yeah! Hiccup has been studying the dragons so we can learn to live peacefully with them, not so he can use them."
"Toothless doesn't even want to eat people," Ruffnut adds, pointing at the Night Fury.
Tuffnut nods in agreement. "And he doesn't even like to destroy things! Which is honestly kind of boring, but probably something you guys will like."
Astrid moves back from her place off to the side, coming over to Hiccup and Toothless. "We've gone with Hiccup to meet other dragons in the forests of Berk. They're animals like any other, not the monsters we all thought they were."
Hiccup smiles at the words of all his friends – and that's what they've become. He never could have imagined the other teens stepping up in his defense, but it seems that Toothless has brought out the best in Hiccup, which has brought out the best in them as well.
A matching smile appears on Stoick's face as a feeling of pride swells within him. While he was gone on his fruitless search for the nest, Hiccup carved out a place for himself and made some friends along the way. It may not be what he'd imagined for his son, but it's all he ever could have hoped for.
Stoick loudly clears his throat, regaining everyone's attention. With all eyes back on him, he speaks. "The children have spoken, and they are our future. I think we owe it to ourselves and the future of Berk to give peace a try."
No one voices their dissent. The war is over and a Night Fury stands calmly in their midst – everything they know is changing. These are a people that don't know how to be at peace, but they will learn.
