Note: Princess Amore is from the IDW comics.
Princess Amore slowly blinked her eyes, trying to clear away the heavy fog that clung to her mind. Everything was a blur, yet it was slowly coming into view for her. All around her, everything looked so… big, for lack of a better term. A quick glance up revealed that she appeared to be resting in some sort of bed with wooden bars on either side, and with little carved figures of the moon and the stars hanging overhead. The last thing she could remember before this, her entire body had been frozen solid in crystal and then shattered into pieces. So what was she doing here? Was this the afterlife?
"Ah, you're finally awake," An unfamiliar voice called, drawing Amore's attention. It appeared to be a candy colored pony with wings and a horn. A full blown alicorn, which to Amore was a great shock because she had been led to believe she was the only one! "I know you must have a lot of questions about where you are. But I assure you that you are safe, and you're not dead."
Princess Amore eyed the alicorn standing beside the bed with suspicion. This alicorn's tone of voice sounded warm and welcoming, but who knew what her true intentions were? Still, she found herself able to force out. "Who are you?" She blinked again and gasped upon hearing how pitched her voice was!
The candy colored alicorn smiled as she bent down, removed the bars on the side of the bed, and lifted Princess Amore into the air with the greatest of ease. "You're in the Crystal Empire, silly. I'm Princess Mi'Amore Cadenza, the crystal princess. But you can call me Princess Cadence: Everypony does."
"Princess Cadence?" Princess Amore blinked in surprise. "Why do you have my name as part of your name? I don't remember ever hearing anything about you."
Cadence's smile grew brighter as she floated Amore through the air and placed her gently upon her lap. "Well, we have my wonderful husband to thank for that. He told me about this enchantment of you that he discovered beneath our castle recently, which would tie in with that journal I found that mentioned you. After talking it over a bit with my wise and powerful aunts, I decided to try and bring you back. But it seems the spell I cast to do so worked a little too well."
Just then, who should come strolling into the room but a stallion with a snow white coat? He trotted over to Cadence, and nuzzled up next to her. "Ah, Cadence," He said with a bright smile. "I see you're getting the little one up to speed," He then bowed his head, lowering himself down Amore's level. "Princess Amore, your highness, let me just say that it is an honor to finally meet you in pony. Even if you're a lot smaller than you used to be."
It was only now that Princess Amore realized she had more or less shrunk down to the stature of an alicorn filly. Even her flanks were now bare, her cutie mark had completely disappeared. And that all came as quite a shock to the former ruler of the Crystal Empire! "But… how… why…?! Who… are you?!" She questioned the stallion in her midst.
Cadence giggled. "That's my husband, Shining Armor. If it wasn't for his discovery, I never would've even thought about trying to bring you back. It was really difficult to do so, you were quite literally in pieces. But my aunts believed that perhaps we might gain more insight about King Sombra if we could call upon you. Plus," She said with a smile. "This in a way gives Shining and I a chance to get in some much needed practice for if we ever have foals of our own."
"You're… you're going to make me into your foal?! You're going to adopt me?!" Princess Amore exclaimed in disbelief! This all felt like a bad dream, but it felt far too real for it to be that.
"Why not?" Cadence inquired in a sincere, sympathetic tone. "It isn't fair what happened to you or what that no good Sombra did to you. It wasn't your fault he turned out the way he did. You did everything you could to guide him away from that path. You deserve a chance to enjoy life again," And she giggled. "It wasn't my intention to bring you back like this. But I'm sure we can find a way to fix that eventually."
"Besides," Shining chimed in with a smirk. "I barely got in any real practice with foals when Twily was little. My parents mostly took care of her needs. And Twily was so smart that she got through most developments without a hitch. Something tells me I may not be so lucky next time."
Princess Amore wanted to say something more about her current situation and about the circumstances regarding her return to life. But as she opened her mouth to speak, a more pressing, more urgent development drew her full attention. Her face became all scrunched up.
"Oh, I know what that face means," Princess Cadence said with a knowing smile, taking hold of Amore with her magic again. "In all my experience as a foalsitter, that means only one thing: Somepony needs to use the potty."
"Do we seriously have to call it that instead of its actual term?" The regressed Princess Amore groaned as she was carried out of the room she now realized was a nursery, passed through a hallway, and was brought into a bathroom where (surprisingly) the plumbing fixtures were not actually made of crystal like you might expect.
Cadence, meanwhile, set Amore down on the bathroom floor and said to her. "You can hold it for a minute, can't you?" Then she bent down beneath the cabinets under the sink, and pulled out a pink plastic potty that she promptly plopped Princess Amore onto. "Go on, do whatever you need to do," She encouraged with a smile and a coo. "I promise, I won't look."
Amore sighed. There was no point trying to hold in what needed to come out. Soon, she could hear the echoes of something tinkling and plopping into the potty as a familiar stench reached her nostrils. "I… I think I'm done." She said about a moment or two later.
Princess Cadence turned back around, smiling and clapping her hooves. "Good job, Amore! Really!" She proceeded to help the regressed princess wipe her bottom, then emptied the potty's contents into the toilet along with the used toilet paper.
Amore was most surprised afterward to be floated up towards the toilet handle, Cadence encouraging her. "Would you like to do the honors?" Amore didn't hesitate to reach out a hoof, grab the handle, and push it down. She then watched as the flush began with a roar, taking everything in the toilet and sweeping it all down the drain before the water returned, now sparkling clean.
Cadence then helped Amore wash her hooves. "And to think, you did all that without needing diapers," She said to the regressed princess. "I hope you'll be just as cooperative with all the other things Shining and I will take care of for you until we can figure out how to get you back to your adult self."
