It was not a really good idea to transfer to a new school in the middle of the year. More so choosing an even bigger one with purely human population. But after the multiple incidents which had taken place at BayvilleHigh it was rather hard for the professor to reason with the principal, who was no longer Mystic but another human, about the unexplainable mysterious destructions of school property throughout the first semester. Rogue didn't like these changes or new people, nevertheless here she was. In a new school building with the rest of her team.
The place was rather spacious and even kind of light and sophisticated in a way that it resembled a palace with cream white walls going up high to the ceiling which was adorned with old-fashioned-looking chandeliers and paintings like in a temple.
But that's where the deceiving grace of the shool came to an end. When you returned back to Earth all you saw was a regular school dynamics such as a bunch of teenagers running in the halls at the speed of light holding one of the graffiti bottles with the janitor on their tail. A few sportsmen enjoying the victory after the last big game craddling a new award, some girl fights in the corner, quite messy ones she must admit. Rogue couldn't believe that she'd say it, but students in the previous school were rather disciplined compared to these ones. This place was a real jungle in the disguise of a paradise. It was frightening to even imagine how tough things might get here in a span of just a few days, she counted. She immediately felt sick.
«I wanna go back to the mansion»
Then she suddenly felt a tug on her arm.
- Rogue, snap out of your doom and gloom. The enrollment procedure is over. We can finally go to our class now, by the way I got our chedule – the girl with a ponytail said, waving a small sheet of paper.
- Kitty. I don't feel so great now. Can you go to the class without me? I'll go try to find the infirmary instead.
- Are you sure? Maybe it's just the stress of the first day, I'm certain it'll pass fast if that's the case.
- No, Kitty, it's my...headaches, - she admitted reluctantly.
- Oh, well. I guess the first period isn't really that fun anyway. Here, take the schedule.
- What about you? - Rogue asked, incredulous.
- I got it memorized, don't worry about me.
*Ring*
- The bell! I gotta go. Rogue, be careful and let me know if you need any help.
- Sure thing, Kits, good luck on your first day!
With that the pony-tailed girl disappeared through the wall.
«God gracious, can this girl be any more obvious? And others doubted I'd give them away with just my elbow-high gloves, huh, unbelievable.»
«Now what?» - she asked herself.
Rogue looked around and finally took a better look at her surroundings. Not only was it large, but also had a weird structure of exits and many other unexpected passages regular schools shouldn't have. How could she not notice that before?
«Fine, I'll just go wherever. It's not possible to get lost in a building anyway, let alone a school, right?»
But after a few turns, descents and a very long walk she had to reconsider.
«For the love of all that's holy! Why is this route taking so long? It feels like one of those dreams where you go forth, but end up being pulled back»
Contratry to her words the hall suddenly ended, which felt like a small victory until she saw…
«Well, just great, another set of stairs leading to who knows where. «
All of a sudden a piercing pain shot through her head and she slid to the ground squeezing her temples with double force.
She heard footsteps approacing.
- Tu vas bien, chère? - an unknown voice
Still occupied by her painful episode Rogue paid him no mind. Then a stranger took a step forward and bent down to her, reaching out his hand to her
Fighting through the sensation akin to that of needles piercing her scalp, scared, Rogue shrieked at the top of her lungs.
- Wow! Wow, buddy, hands off! - she shouted, slapping his hands and got up staggering.
- I just wanted to see if jolie needed help.
- I have no idea what you're talking about, nor do I care. Get out of my way. Now!
Confused, the stranger took a step back
Rogue having finally found her balance, rushed past Remy around the corner into another hall, but after a few steps she halted in her tracks
«Wtf?! Why does this hall look like a completely different place? Is this school a maze or something?»
- What's wrong, chèrie? - asked Gambit with concern.
«Crap, I have absolutely no idea where to go. Scott and Jean are also nowhere in sight. The clock has struck again. Professor's gonna be very disappointed when he learns I skipped not just one, but all classes, which I might if I don't find my way sooner. What do I do? This weird dude and me are the only ones on the floor and I don't feel like going up or down to another uncharted territory.
