Arc 2: Game Start
Ten: Joseph's Journal 1
Day 1:
Well hello anyone reading (though it will only be me). It is I, Joseph Baller. I have become a victim of the isekai trend that has been going on but not in the way most people would think.
I am in the world of pokemon now!
Anyway, turns out some kind of fucked up stuff happened regarding the politics of this world. I still do not get the logistics of why Orre allied with the other regions in the Confederacy.
Yeah the reasoning was they were too battle hungry for the Alliance to accept them, but really that was all it took?
Wasn't the fundamental idea of the Confederacy that pokeballs are illegal?
So how the hell does this work?
Yes I know I should not dwell on this too much. But seriously! Should these allied regions now have a…oh I don't know common beliefs?
I will have to ask Hikari about that later. And also a cool thing, I am getting professional weapon training! This man who is training me is literally a walking Jojo reference. He even had the iconic grills from the Steel Ball Run manga. What are the chances of that?
Though this training is for some kind of espionage mission, I will be frank. I do not think I am really qualified to do it. I know nothing about this place, nothing about pokemon battles. Hell I don't even have a starter because of the way this region works! But I'll go through with it anyway. These people did literally pick me up from the ground and decided to give me a roof over my head and food.
In an unknown place, what more can one ask for?
Day 2:
Training was…interesting.
As a lot of people back on Earth did, I took some kind of martial arts in the form of taekwondo.
But to be honest, taekwondo was more like dancing than practicality.
Seriously, nothing I learnt from that like 9 years ago helped me at all here. Caesar is a chill guy though. He gave me pointers about how to effectively use this whip sword.
Seriously though, why give me this weapon as my first choice? Sure Hikari wanted me to be 'tricky' or whatever (it honestly sounded cool at the moment). But this shit has too high of a skill ceiling man. Do you know how hard a whip is to use? A whip puts the user in more danger than the opponent!
Anyway, speaking of Hikari, I asked her why we are even allied with Orre and all she said was they shared a common enemy.
Which is…true but seriously?
She went as far as to say that their relations are not some of the best, they are more allies in name. They have not provided any real aid to each other.
It seemed they did agree upon joining forces whenever the big assault would happen.
Whenever that would be.
But yeah I have been mostly chilling. I wonder how long it will take for me to actually get some action in.
Day 3:
I felt I've been getting closer to Caesar as a friend. Yes he is decently older than me, or at least seems to be. But even then, he is the closest person I have to a proper friend here.
I have not really talked to Lunick, Solana, or Hikari in the same manner.
For Lunick there is something with him. He seems to give me weird looks. It is weird but the best comparison is when your little sibling stares at you after you take his plush and use it as a pad for your controller. I do not know what is with him and honestly I feel like I shouldn't.
Solana is…I do not think she really likes me. It could have been our first interaction with each other, but seriously, why does she seem to always give me the stink eye? I did nothing wrong man! Nothing wrong whatsoever!
Hikari is just hard to approach. It could be the way her orange eyes pierce my soul. Or it could just be the fact she is literally the head honcho–the boss of this place. I mean I have talked to her more than the former two but there was no real connection y'know?
There were also some other people going and leaving the base but I never really talked to them, except for the occasional greeting. They seem to be busy with…whatever they do.
Which left me with only Caesar.
I learnt about his family. His father was the old head ranger…or whatever the fuck you call that, but he retired after an accident compromised his health. Weird shit.
I also heard from him that his weapon proficiency came from a childhood of battling. The man is insane, he knows how to use almost any weapon to frightening degrees of proficiency. If anyone should be sent for espionage it should be him, not me.
Of course I also shared stories about my childhood with him. With the games I enjoyed playing, the structure of our society, and the lack of pokemon.
That last fact actually surprised him quite a bit. Pokemon were so fundamental to this world that he could not comprehend a world not having one.
This did make sense, we still do not know how the universe was created but here? They knew how the world was created, who created it, etc.
But at the same time they have not done a lot of stuff my world did, for example they still do not have things like electric cars. But at the same time they have crazy airships.
Oh also this world also has Dark Souls.
Like literal Dark Souls, straight copy and paste. I do not understand how or why this happened but it just did. It might be like the top or bow and arrow where no matter the civilization there would be some way this thing was invented.
The publisher was not FromSoftware but instead ToHardware. I did not make this up, it is too funny, almost as if some guy from my world pulled up and decided to pull a sick joke on everyone.
Day 5:
Nothing of note really happened yesterday, other than more training and researching.
Did you know pokemon marriage was legal? Weird I know. Though it was present as a section in the games so it is not that far off.
Me personally, I am not into pokemon like that so I doubt this will apply much to me.
Oh also turns out weapons of mass destruction like the H-bomb or the atomic bomb did not exist here. This world never needed an equivalent of Oppenheimer. Well actually, a close second did exist. The Ultimate Weapon. That shit was real and, from the looks of it, people here did not know where it is currently.
No way it is in Geosenge town right? When I go over to Kalos I'll have to check that place out.
And another reason nukes did not exist was likely due to the way atoms behaved here.
It is hard to explain on paper but there were photos online of massive scale microscopes. The way nuked work was based on breaking apart or merging protons and neutrons of an atom.
But these photos showed that atoms here were in a constant state of breaking and reforming. There have been attempts to capture these but they all failed.
Yes there were logical fallacies because if that was true, why was I not breaking apart?
After a small search that question was answered. Turns out they break apart a tiny amount and reform back. This would cause them to lose any energy inside them anyway.
I think the reason this happens is due to the nature of pokemon moves. What I think they do is abuse the fact that these atoms are constantly breaking apart. They then temporarily put them together and form molecules which then form whatever the move would make.
It would explain shit like rock tomb which could work even in water (trust me I pokemon googled it). The pokemon unconsciously caused the formation of matter from the unstable molecules in the air.
Maybe I could use this in a future strategy…all I have to do is somehow create a space without molecules. This also brought up another question. Does dark matter exist here?
Day 17:
I had my first practical outing today!
I haven't updated much again but the last couple weeks were boring. Just training honestly.
But let me get into my first practical experience.
Basically it was a simple quest of an electabuzz stealing food from a nearby town. I took the primary vanguard here. Caesar was likely grading my performance here.
And I seemed to pass with flying colors!
I was able to deflect all of its attacks with the whip form of my weapon. For some reason it did not conduct electricity. Anyway I then used my capture styler.
This stuff worked like pokeballs in the sense the pokemon needed to be weakened, but it did not actually capture them. It did some kind of neuro-connectivity and connected us. It was a weird sensation, I could read all of its thoughts. This kind of allowed us to communicate. I then shared how it was causing problems and the electabuzz just…left.
It was that easy! I was later informed that this was a lot level threat but I did not care. It is like beating your first boss in a game.
Day 28:
I have not updated much but that was because I have not done much other than increase my whip sword proficiency.
Some notable events did include Hikari revealing that Paul is working with us, Solana spilling ramen on the floor, and me tripping over the spilled ramen.
Yeah, last week was really boring.
But I have been feeling more confident in my whip sword skills. I hope I could finally pass the 'test' Caesar gave me of getting a hit on him.
Day 29:
Boy oh boy. Where do I even begin?
So firstly I got an attack on Caesar! That's cool.
And then some weird shit happened, I got airdropped over to Kalos, a poipole I caught, named Tusk, appeared from an ultra wormhole, met Wulfric, did some publicity shit because the man endorsed me, battled Kahili which I lose horribly, then was notified about Paul spilling the beans.
Which led to me getting my brains blasted out!
But thankfully I have plot armor! I literally cannot permanently die! Trust me the mysterious voice told me after I died!
I also have some kind of unseen social link system and I somehow got pretty close to Kahili, close enough to the point she was able to also perceive the time rewind that happened after I died.
Yeah that is an added bonus to my ability!
This shit was so wacky man. I really hope I do not die much more in the future. Currently I am setting up camp on the outskirts of Lumiose. I had bought some essentials before coming here. I honestly feel relaxed.
The first big obstacle was stopped with a simple phone call.
Oh I almost forgot to say, I got friendlier with Tusk! Looking back, I think I could have used my capture styler to communicate with him better but currently he seems to like using a notebook to talk to me.
I also looked at the way he can jet ink out of his…needle. This could be potentially helpful during our battle against Viola later as he did not know any proper attacking moves.
I have felt some weird presence in my shadows, but whenever I try to catch it in my sights, it disappears.
Tusk also informed me that I was also being stalked by an Ultra Recon Squad member. I will think of a way to talk to her later and maybe prank her in the process. That would be funny.
Though at the moment all I can hope for is a bright future.
That is chapter 10. My plan for every 10 chapters is something similar to this; a first person perspective from Joseph's journal. These chapters would likely be shorter than the main ones and be a recap of the previous 10 chapters, with some of the parts I skipped in the main story being overviewed here. Also look at massive changes coming in some of the older chapters. I have been finding errors I have made, along with some underdeveloped parts which I will fix. So anyway make sure to fav, follow, review, etc and till next time cya.
