Angel: Someone suggested I write Jujustu Kaisen with Gojo as the love interest, which does not surprise me at all. I know he's pretty popular in the anime. The thing is, I've been actually meaning to watch it because of Gojo, and I now have a reason to get on it. However, even if I consider this one, it's not gonna get done immediately. Not to mention it's pretty short compared to other anime I've done, but if I tackle it like I did with Owl House like how Lucila and Hunter were developed, then I most likely could make it work. Apparently there is a sequel to the anime coming out, so we'll see.
And then someone said can't wait to see the end of the story. Honestly, feels like I'm still where I was at the beginning of the story last year in June lol. At best, the story will be finished by next year depending on when the actual anime ends. Still got a loooooong way to go...not even Bakuza is still official at this point, that's how you know we're in for a long ride. I haven't even gotten to write the fourth movie yet, or watch it for that matter. Thanks to whoever's behind that *blank look*
After the Christmas party was over, they were all cleaning up and removing the decorations. Katsuki was stretching for a breather while Izuku moved a table. Izuka walked by with a box of tree decorations. Shoto stepped up while holding some plates.
"Midoriya, Mido, Bakugo," He spoke up, getting their attention. "If you don't have choices you like, I was thinking...come with me. Do a work study with Endeavor. The number-one hero." Katsuki gave a small snarl while the twins looked at him in shock for the offer.
Shoto adjusted his collar over his neck. Katsuki put on his mask over his eyes. Izuku moved his gloves that were over his hand. And Izuka tightened her hair into her high right-side ponytail with her star scrunchie. The four new work-study students of Endeavor stepped out into the outside together. Izuka was walking between her brother and Katsuki.
All the students in UA High School's hero course were instructed to use their winter vacations to do work studies at pro agencies.
And unlike last time, where the pros would seek us out or we had to have connections, we were placed by the school.
Kacchan, my sister, Todoroki, and I are working alongside the number-one hero, Endeavor.
Admittedly, I still don't like him because of what he did to his family, but I'm going in without that bias...consciously.
Mineta, Kaminari, Sero, and Shiozaki joined up with Team Lurkers. Meanwhile, Kirishima, Tetsutetsu, and Amajiki are learning from Fat Gum. Everyone in our class is definitely learning a lot while working under different pros.
This gave the chance for those who didn't get to do work studies the first time to finally experience them on their own. Some of us because of supplementary classes, like me, Shoto, and Katsu. Or because they didn't get to be placed before they were put on hold.
The twins, Katsuki, and Shoto were all panting tiredly after a day of hard work. Therefore, it was nighttime now. All of them felt like their muscles and lungs were burning because they were working nonstop. Endeavor and his sidekicks were talking to the police nearby, all of them perfectly fine.
Although, to be honest, I could barely keep up with Endeavor on our first day.
He insisted that we work directly under him, so we've been following his lead ever since.
Izuku looked up tiredly, trying to catch his breath. Uraraka and Asui are at Ryukyu's Agency, huh? I'm sure they're doing their best, too.
Izuka heaved a bit while standing up, wiping off her forehead. Ochaco showed me what she did before we left, so I have no doubt that she'll keep growing the way she wants to. And with Tsu, she'll be able to keep a level head.
Ochaco did a small twirl, letting out a small giggle. She had just gotten changed into the updated hero costume. She now had no glass over her gear, and had bigger wrist gear as well. "Yay! The new costume I ordered arrived just in time!" She cheered happily to the others.
"It's lovely on you, Ochaco!" Tsuyu stated as she and the others clapped.
"Yes, Uravity. Quite nice," Ryukyu agreed with her work-study student.
"Thanks, everyone!" She giggled from the claps.
"Hey, hey!" Nejire went over to her with an excited smile. "Is there a reason you wanted a new costume made? Come on! You can tell me!" She implored with a curious look.
"Well, if you really wanna know, it's..." Ochaco then remembered what had happened during the last battle of joint training. Where she held Izuku tight to calm down his new power that had gotten out of control. Her entire face then turned red, Nejire blinking at her in confusion. "It's a secret?" She sweated nervously, both her comrades staring at her.
"Aw well, that's not fun! But why? That's weird..." Nejire stared at the brunette, trying to get an answer out of her. But it was clear to Tsuyu that it was something Ochaco wouldn't dare say.
"Well, good job on your first day of work studies," One of Ryukyu's sidekicks spoke up to the trio, as she and another sidekick were prepping a table full of food and drinks.
"Consider this your welcome party, ladies," Ryukyu smiled towards the three girls.
Ochaco let out a laugh as there were lots of sweets.
"Looks so good!" Tsuyu smiled a little and then they all clinked their glasses together.
"Cheers!"
Nejire hummed in delight while eating a fruit tart. Tsuyu and Ochaco enjoyed their treats as well.
An unexpected Day One reward!
"Congratulations on completing your first day! Eat up good! Cause tomorrow, you're gonna be working even harder," Burnin announced to the four as she presented them with some food and drinks. Endeavor was in his office again while everyone else was eating before they left.
"Quit yelling, moron!" Katsuki yelled while snatching his plate.
"Kacchan!" Izuku sighed at him while Izuka silently shook her head. "Thank you, Burnin. Everything looks so good."
"Is it always like this with him?" Shoto glanced to his father's office door.
"Oh, that? Yeah, he doesn't usually come out for dinner," Kido answered while he and Onima sat across the four. "You get used to it quickly."
Something tells me we'll have to Izuku gave a sheepish look.
"We all saw your interview, by the way," Onima glanced between Izuka, Katsuki, and Shoto. "You three were amazing stopping those villains!"
"Huh," Katsuki scoffed while eating his meal. "Those bastards were just weak..." He paused as he remembered one of them took Izuka hostage before stuffing his mouth to angrily eat. They're just lucky they're still breathing.
"I think you made him mad," Kido whispered to the sidekick.
"No, it's not you. It's...something else," Izuka coughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of her neck.
"The reporter was really curious about your life, though," Izuku glanced at her while having some tea. "I hope no one has gotten the wrong idea about you and Todoroki."
Katsuki spit out the food in his mouth, everyone recoiling back wide-eyed. He started to cough and then he gritted his teeth towards Izuku. "I dare you to say that again!"
"What did I say?!" Izuku yelped while Endeavor was peeking from his office. "I'm just looking out for-"
"Shut up! If anyone's saying anything, I'll set them straight myself!"
"Katsu, calm down! I don't know if that's something to worry about anyway, I haven't really seen anything about us online," Izuka tapped her chin in thought. Katsuki flinched as he didn't think to check either, growling.
Shoto put down his cup, staring into it. "People online can blow things out of proportion sometimes. It can be annoying when people don't ask for the truth, which we all know, Bakugo."
"I don't wanna hear shit like this over my food! Go to hell!" He retorted as he snatched his plate and stormed off. He then slammed the door, causing most of them to wince. Endeavor blinked from trying to understand what Shoto meant.
Does he mean that one of them holds feelings for the other? I've watched the interview for myself. Mido never denied it herself that she doesn't see him as more than a friend. Only Bakugo did that...could they be hiding it from everyone? It's clear what needs to be done for his future...
The next day, the news was playing. "Now onto our next story. After a week of intense flames, the large-scale wildfire in the country of Kaflin has finally started showing signs of slowing. The fire is thought to be caused by an explosion at an illicit site manufacturing the illegal drug called Trigger..."
Nejire was watching the broadcast as Ochaco walked by with some books, overhearing this.
"Trigger?" She asked in confusion as she had never heard of it before.
"I know what that is!" Nejire smiled at her eagerly. "Wanna hear? A banned substance! It's illegal because bad people use it to send their Quirks into overdrive." Tsuyu was nearby in front of the bookshelf, listening in.
"She's right. Apparently, it enhances your power and makes you stronger." An example would be the villain who used one against Eijiro during the first round of work-studies. Ochaco gasped as she remembered Izuka telling her about it, and that Tamaki saved her from getting hit by one.
"Just like previous boosters," Ryukyu crossed her arms. "And Trigger is circulating throughout Japan. So we've been looking for a way to lower its distribution rates."
"We've heard rumors about the factory explosion," One of her sidekicks spoke up, getting their attention as she walked up. "There should have been chemicals there that are used to manufacture Trigger, but no remnants were found after the blast. It seems likely that they were taken from the warehouse before the fire started."
"That would have big implications," Ryukyu narrowed her eyes a bit, knowing that if the ingredients used to make Trigger were stolen...they were surely going to see the drug coming back up in the future. "Was the explosion used to destroy evidence and distract us?"
"I'm not sure," The sidekick informed while Ochaco clutched her book close to her chest. "Either way, none of this has been confirmed..."
The girl silently vowed to take this seriously, because she knew that her best friends would...
A ship was moving before a certain sea hero intercepted it. "Hey, unidentified ship!" Selkie shouted as the Oki Mariner was catching up to it. "Stop immediately! These are Japan's territorial seas! You can't just sail through someone else's waters! I'll send you flying!"
"Captain," Sirius looked up at her boss. "I believe you're just provoking the ship."
"Huh? Oh, well, in that case. Um...unidentified vessel. Listen closely. If you don't stop..." He then put on his adorable look...or at least, adorable to Tsuyu. "I'll be in trouble!"
"That is not a cute look," Sirius deadpanned; she still didn't find it as charming as Selkie thought it did. "And also, you know they can't see you, right?"
"Captain," One of the sidekicks put down his binoculars. "I've got eyes on someone over there."
"Where?"
He could see a man jumping onto the cargo behind the ship. He looked up, holding up a small gun that had something attached to it. He then inserted it into himself, not unlike a Quirk-boosting drug. Something started to happen to him, causing Selkie and Sirius to gasp. The man's eyes were red and he started to twitch as he suddenly grew in strength. A bunch of holes appeared all over his body as he screamed, letting out a bunch of smoke. This covered the entire area, and therefore, they couldn't see the other ship anymore.
"It's a smokescreen!"
"We can't see!"
"Radar shows multiple targets!" One of them informed while looking at their system.
"There are decoys in the smoke," Selkie growled a little bit. "Take Oki Mariner full speed ahead! Break us out of this cover!"
"Aye aye, sir!" They used their searchlight to look for the ship.
"That injection he gave himself before," Selkie rubbed his chin in thought. "Probably Trigger, wasn't it?" Trigger had been going around on the Hero Network for a while, to warn heroes about it.
"Yes. Based on their route, we think we're pretty sure where they came from," Sirius reported back to him. "There's a high probability this ship originally departed from Kaflin."
"So maybe the rumors regarding the explosion were true. They think chemicals used to make the drug were stolen, right?" Selkie pointed out, because if it wasn't the case, the villain wouldn't have used the drug if they didn't have something to do with it.
"And they could be on that unidentified ship. Makes sense, huh?" Sirius assumed where he was going with this.
"Fraid so. Something smells fishy here," He narrowed his eyes in a bit of suspicion.
"Captain, sir," The sidekick in front looked over his shoulder. "We're approaching open air shortly." The ship managed to get out of the smoke...but the other ship was nowhere in sight.
"It's no good! We've lost the ship."
"Not seeing anything on radar, either."
"Damn," Selkie rubbed the back of his neck, a little embarrassed that they managed to give them the slip. "So they know how to escape a pro?"
"Considering the path the ship was taking earlier...they might be hiding somewhere in the Verize Islands," Sirius theorized with him and the crew.
"That's a pain..." He glared a little as they didn't visit that area often. No ship did, actually, for good reason. That island chain is complex. If they're hopped up on Trigger...we're gonna need reinforcements. We can't just search from the sea. Things'd be much better with eyes in the sky. Which means... "Sirius. Time to request a team-up."
"But who should we try contacting?" She looked up at her boss.
"Number ten on the billboard chart," He smirked down at her. "The Dragoon Hero! Ryukyu!"
"Team-up request, ma'am," One of Ryukyu's sidekicks spoke up while looking at the computer. "Sounds urgent."
"Who's it from?" She turned around curiously.
"The Sea Rescue Hero, Selkie."
"Selkie's in trouble?" Tsuyu overheard, a finger on her chin. She hadn't heard from him or Sirius in a while.
"Oh, that's right!" Ochaco turned to her in realization. "He's the pro hero you did your internship with on the ship."
Tsuyu gave a small nod. "I hope nothing's happened to him and his crew."
"Uravity," Ryukyu turned around to the three. "Froppy. Nejire-Chan. Let's get ready." All of them stood up straight. "Team Ryukyu is heeding their call."
"Yes' ma'am!" Ochaco and Nejire stated in unison.
"Ribbit!"
Ochaco gasped a bit as she had a gut feeling that they would need Izuka for this. Mido's the most versatile one when it comes to the girls in our class. She'd be a helpful addition to this team-up as well! Ochaco then bowed a little. "Ma'am! If it's not too much trouble, can we borrow someone from the Endeavor Agency for this team-up request too?"
"Huh?" Ryukyu looked up in interest, the others staring at her as well.
"Do you remember our friend Mido from the first work-studies?" Ochaco looked up at her, and Ryukyu blinked in recognition. She had seen Izuka at the meeting regarding the Hassaikai, and remembered her playing a part in taking down Kai Chisaki.
"Hm?" Burnin blinked at the computer, pulling out her phone to call Endeavor. "Sir! Last-minute team-up request."
"Place it with the other ones," Endeavor stated as he stared at his four students only a little out of breath. He had just stopped a robbery, which the four had failed to catch up to once again.
"Well, it's actually not for you." He blinked in confusion, looking at the phone. "It's actually for Callista by the Dragoon Hero, Ryukyu. They need her abilities for their own team-up with the Sea Rescue Hero, Selkie!"
"Hmm..." He glanced at the girl panting, her hands on her hips. He would've said no at this point, but he also remembered how she worked with him and Hawks. I don't know what they would need her for...but maybe it would help her get closer to unlocking that ability she told me about on her first day. Even though I need her here so that I can keep visualizing her on a team with Shoto. What would happen if I didn't at least ask her?
"Mr. Endeavor isn't perfect. But what I would suggest to think about...is who he's doing all this for."
He blinked as he recalled her telling him this...he had at least try to start thinking about his other work-study students and not just his son. So despite it going against his judgement...
"Callista!" He shouted and she blinked, glancing over to him. "There's a team-up request involving just you from Ryukyu. Seems like they need your assistance. Would you...like to go? But this is an offer only for today!"
"Ryukyu wants me?!" She gestured to herself in shock and then realized something. Maybe Ochaco and Tsu need me? That's where they're doing their work studies...I wonder what came up. This actually feels like I'm a real hero right now!
"Oh whoa, that's so cool!" Izuku's eyes shined a little at his sister. "Just like a real hero gets asked for a team-up!"
"Did they say what's going on?" Shoto blinked in a bit of surprise that his father was even asking her.
"Why the hell do you get to go off with someone else?!" Katsuki huffed at the girl, who gave him a look of annoyance.
"It's only for a day, it's not like I won't be working," She then turned towards Endeavor with a sharp nod. "I accept!"
"Hm," Endeavor narrowed his eyes a bit at her. "Be back by the end of the day. I want a report as well on what you learned. Head back to the agency for the details."
"Yes, sir!" She pumped her fists tightly, Izuku's eyes shining in encouragement. Katsuki huffed while turning away as Shoto stepped up a bit.
"We'll make sure to keep working to catch a villain before him. I hope this helps you, Mido."
"Thanks, Shoto!" She smiled as she jumped onto her flying star and took off, the others staring at her.
You're so lucky, big sister! A request from the number ten hero herself! I know you'll come back with even more experience!
And so, the two teams met up on the Verize Islands on the Pacific Ocean. "Ryukyu! Thanks for coming out here!" Selkie greeted her and her students.
"If the ship in question is involved with Trigger, we can't just let it slip away. I'm happy if we can be of help to you and your crew. We just need our other team member, who should be here any moment now," She stated and Ochaco looked up, laughing as she waved. Izuka was flying over to them, waving back as she caught sight of them.
"Mido! Over here!" She called out as the girl zipped over and dropped the flying star, landing in front of them. "I'm so glad you could make it!"
"You must be the famous Callista we've heard about!" Selkie smiled a bit, already impressed. She nodded as she looked up, saluting to him.
"I promise I'll help as much as I can, everyone! They told me all the details. This is about Trigger," The girl gave a small glare. "As someone who's come into contact with drugs like these, I want to make sure no one else gets their Quirk taken away like Amajiki did! So thank you for asking me to come, Ryukyu!"
"It was my pleasure," She gave a small smile, nodding. "Uravity reminded me how much of an assist you were during the Hassaikai Raid."
"It's great to see you, Mido. How are things with Endeavor?" Tsuyu looked towards the shorter girl.
"...Intense," She gave a sheepish look. "But I'm already learning a lot."
"So dependable," Selkie commented towards her and Ryukyu. "It makes Selkie happy!" He then put on the cute face again...
Ryukyu was a bit unnerved to say the least. Not a cute look.
Nejire, like Tsuyu, felt the opposite as she smiled. So cute!
Tsuyu sent him a small smile. "Haven't changed, have you, Captain Selkie?"
"Ah!" He smiled upon seeing her. "How are ya, Froppy? Good, I hope."
"Yep!" She gave him a bright expression. "Thanks again for taking care of me during my internship." She could still remember the time that they stopped a smuggling ship.
"The captain is relying on us to follow his orders. If we believe in him, then we trust in his course of action. Do you have faith, Froppy? In the captain...and in us?"
"I haven't forgotten your lessons," Tsuyu informed him gratefully. "You and Sirius taught me important concepts every hero should know."
"You've certainly grown up," Selkie grinned, feeling proud to hear this. "Seeing you...I feel...so moved!" He then gave his cute look again.
Once again, Ryukyu was not feeling it. So not cute.
So cute! Tsuyu smiled to herself.
It's honestly starting to grow on me, Tsu did tell me about this before Izuka gave a small smile at Selkie.
"Oh hey, Tsu," Sirius smiled, leaning in a bit from next to Selkie. "I heard you got your provisional license! Congrats!"
"Aw, thanks!" Tsuyu gave a bashful smile.
"You're a full-fledged hero. Then I'm glad you're here. We can see everything you've learned!" Selkie grinned down at the frog-like girl.
"Ribbit!"
Izuka glanced at her classmate, giving a small smile. She felt a little that Selkie was to Tsuyu like All Might was to her. So she was glad that Tsuyu got that experience from Selkie, who she knew from her brother could be very stern.
"Hey, hey, Mido," Nejire leaned in to whisper. "Do you know why Uravity changed her costume? I wanna know!"
"Um..." Izuka glanced over to Ochaco, whose face was red, and then she turned back to the older girl. "Secret."
"Oh, no fun! She said that too!" Nejire pouted towards her and Izuka gave a sheepish smile since she could take a guess on why...
"Enough. Fun as this reunion's been...I need you ladies down on the beach."
All four students gave a determined expression, knowing that this was something that they had to take very seriously.
On the beach, Ochaco laughed while running on the water with her swimsuit on.
"Ribbit!" Tsuyu was also in the water, having tied up her hair. Nejire and Izuka did the same, all five having fun at the beach together. Then all of them got a volleyball game, and the three Class 1-A students would for sure not tell anyone about this. Because a certain pervert would drool about it for the rest of his life...
"This is the best way to recharge your batteries," Selkie gave a big grin.
"Over here!"
"Coming!"
"What are you planning?" Ryukyu couldn't help but ask, standing next to Selkie.
"Let them have fun," Selkie brushed off her suspicions. "The Trigger ship won't move until nightfall. They're a stealthy bunch." They watched the five playing volleyball together. "No point in putting these girls on edge until they need to be." Ochaco then served the ball, Izuka giving a small laugh.
"Here!" Sirius held up her arms and then hit it back to the team of Tsuyu and Nejire.
A little later, Tsuyu and Sirius explored the water together, looking towards all the fish and saw a sea turtle. Then they had a barbeque, with a cooler as well. Nejire held up...something brown to Ochaco, who moved her hand to signal she wasn't going to eat it. Tsuyu and Sirius had kabobs, and Sirius' was much bigger in terms of her meat. Izuka continued cooking her own kabob with a small smile. Ochaco walked over to talk to her friend.
"I'm glad they seem to be enjoying themselves," Selkie sighed a bit, as he and Ryukyu were sitting on beach chairs on top of some rocks. They had a beach umbrella over them as they could see the five swimming in the water. "It's so peaceful out here."
"I see. So that's what this is," Ryukyu put down her cocktail, smiling a little. "Our jobs can be trying. Constantly forced to confront evil. Seeing the very worst in people. And today...you wanted my team and Callista to experience peace. So they'd be driven to protect it. I should have guessed as much."
"This should put them in the right mind," Selkie smiled at her correct assumption. "That way, they can show the villains what they're really made of. Same goes for Callista. Working for the number-one hero practically triples the amount of work because of the status she carries under his wing now. I'm surprised he even agreed to let her work with us for today!"
Meanwhile, in a cave somewhere in the middle of the ocean, was where the ship was hiding. "Dammit. The heroes and coast guard are on high alert," Someone spoke up in annoyance.
"Whaddaya think?" The one who made the smokescreen wondered. "Do we give the client a heads up yet?"
"No. We should assume all our communications are somehow being monitored at this point. Possibly even by satellite tech," A man muttered bitterly to him.
"You're saying our only choice is to keep following the plan?" The last one asked him.
"Yeah, exactly. We'll make our move after it gets dark. Just make sure you have some Trigger ready," He held up the same gun used earlier. "If we end up cornered, this is how we take down the pros..."
The sun was starting to set now as they met back up at the Oki Mariner for the mission. "Nejire-Chan, Callista, and I will search from the sky. Selkie, Uravity and Froppy will stick with you," Ryukyu declared, Nejire winking and giving a peace sign.
"Got it!" He agreed as Ochaco waved to the three. "Prepare to set sail!"
"Aye-aye, sir!" The rest of his crew responded in unison. The ramp was pulled up and the ship's turbines spun around.
"Sound off! Mooring rope secured!" One of them started off the list before they could leave.
"Engines ready."
"Clear for running!"
"Starboard!"
"Clear!"
"Right then," Selkie announced while surrounded by Tsuyu, Sirius, and Ochaco. "Oki Mariner, let's head out!"
The ship then took off onto the water. Nejire, Izuka, and Ryukyu watched from the dock as she turned to the 2 students. "Time for us to get going. Are you ready?"
"Yep!" Nejire responded eagerly as Izuka looked up with a small nod.
"Let's do it!" She pumped her fists as her flying star appeared in front of her. Ryukyu touched her face as she grew in size, revealing her dragon form.
Dragoon Hero: Ryukyu! Quirk: Dragon. Honestly, the name pretty much speaks for itself. Those massive wings allow her to fly in her Dragon form. Is that metal or what?
As Ryukyu was flying, Nejire and Izuka were following after her, looking down at the sea below.
Hero: Nejire-Chan. Quirk: Surge. She converts her life force into powerful shock-waves. By controlling that spiraling energy, she can fly too!
The three flew in front of the ship. Selkie and the others were watching from in front of the ship. "You've got this, Number Ten!" He encouraged with a smile. "Sirius! Keep an ear out for Morse code!"
"Aye-aye, sir!" She saluted to him.
"Ready, Froppy? Grab onto my back!" He then jumped off the ship to head for the water.
"Ribbit!" She jumped after him as he moved his flippers down. She used her tongue to grab his waist, landing on his back. He dove into the water, taking her along with him as he swam.
Sea Rescue Hero: Selkie. Quirk: Spotted Seal. He can do pretty much anything a spotted seal can. That includes diving up to 1,500 meters underwater. He can also make sonar-like sounds and use the echoes to determine the location of his opponent.
He made the clicking sound from his mouth, listening in for the ship. He continued to dash in the water to get a proper location on the ship.
"Reef up ahead. Everything looks normal to me!" One of the sailors reported back on the Oki Mariner. Sirius rubbed her chin while Ochaco was keeping an eye out with binoculars.
"No change in the temperature sensor!"
"Then let's set our course to the next point," She informed all of them while grabbing the speaker.
"Aye-aye, sir!"
"Ryukyu," Sirius contacted her, as the three flying were wearing earpieces. "Have you seen anything from above yet?"
"Nothing to report. This area is clear," She informed while the three were being tracked on the radar. "Please direct me to the next location."
"Got it. In that case, head to Point 4-3."
"Roger that," Ryukyu then dove upwards, making a turn. Izuka swerved sharply as she and Nejire flew after her.
"We're ready," One of the villains gritted his teeth after getting off the phone. "Let's get this done fast."
The ship then took off from the cave. "Put up a smokescreen if the enemy shows."
"Yeah. That's what I do," One of them remarked as they carried the cargo away.
As Selkie continued swimming, Tsuyu noticed something in the distance. Something was moving on the surface. Selkie continued to click his teeth to send a message to Sirius. She listened closely and flinched in realization.
"That sound! I hear the captain!" She stated while looking up.
Sirius! Quirk: Good Ear. She can detect high frequencies that most humans can't hear.
She then listened for the message Selkie was giving her. "The smuggler's ship. It's at Point 5-7. The captain is on their tail!"
"Got it. I'm setting a new course now," The one manning the navigation told the sidekick.
"Point 5-7, copy that," Ryukyu overheard them as she looked around. "We're on our way there now."
"Ready!" Nejire flew over to her.
"We'll get them this time," Izuka narrowed her eyes while floating up to them.
"Stay close to me," Ryukyu advised them both, taking off and the two followed behind her.
One of the villains looked up to see the three in the sky as they found the ship. "They found us!"
"What? Where? We're jamming their radars!"
"From the sky!" The one on watch reported back to his comrade.
"Repeat that?" The one with the scar over his face gritted his teeth.
"We're picking up something else. A patrol boat ahead!"
The leader gritted his teeth as he looked up ahead, seeing the Oki Mariner not too far away from where they were. The one who made the smokescreen put Trigger up to his neck, and then jammed the drug into it. The liquid went into his neck and made his eyes red again. He let out a grunt as the three flyers were closing in on them. He then screamed while releasing the smokescreen once again, causing them to freeze in place. Nejire and Izuka flew around on opposite sides.
"That doesn't look pretty," Nejire glanced down at the smoke.
"They're planning to give the slip again," Izuka gritted her teeth a little.
"Smokescreen deployed."
"Multiple targets on radar. Decoys again!"
"Like we thought," Sirius gave a confident smile.
Selkie swam in with Tsuyu towards the ship. He jumped into the air and landed, causing the villain to look back with a gasp. He couldn't see anything, but he definitely heard that noise... "What's that...?" Selkie then continued to make the clicking noise a few more times, putting him on alert. Selkie slowly approached and the villain gasped, looking up in disbelief. "Don't tell me...they boarded our ship? But from where? No! How could they?" He looked around in alarm as he wouldn't be able to tell where an attack came from.
Selkie came out of hiding with a growl, recoiling back his fist. The villain looked up wide-eyed as he got a punch to the face. "A seal knows no bounds!" The villain then landed with a thump on the ground. "Froppy, stand by for now."
"Ribbit!" She responded as he walked off, making the clicking noise again towards the smoke. With that, he got a sense of where to go and ran off. Three switches were flipped and a smaller boat landed on the water. Tsuyu turned around in alarm as she had heard the crash.
What was that sound? I heard a splash...
Selkie kicked the door open to the captain's area, causing the villain driving the boat to turn around. "What the...? I'll kill you!" He took out Trigger and Selkie ran in to stop him. He slammed the man against the glass, causing it to break. Trigger fell out of his hand.
"Selkie Punch!" The hero punched him so hard that the glass actually broke this time, sending the villain out onto the dock.
"I've taken control of the bridge!" Selkie told Sirius, Ochaco, and the rest of the crew.
"Yeah!" The sailors all cheered in unison.
"Ryukyu," Sirius spoke up into the communicator. Ochaco looked back with a smile. "Did you copy that too?"
"I did! And I've got visual on the target," Her wings flapped as she caught sight of the ship from the clouds. "We'll continue to lend Selkie support from the air."
As Nejire and Izuka were flying around, both of them gasped as they noticed something. "Ryukyu, look!" Nejire pointed as they both flew back to the dragon. "Look! There, behind the boat!"
An engine was turning, revealed to be from a plane being driven by the leader. Ryukyu gasped sharply, as that was what the ship was carrying the whole time. "Clever fiends! They had an escape plan."
"I can't believe we didn't think of this!" Izuka gritted her teeth.
Tsuyu landed on the rail, seeing the plane as well. "They're getting away! That splash wasn't just cargo!" The plane started to lift off of the water, Selkie running out to see what was going on. Tsuyu then jumped off the ship. "Ribbit!"
"No, wait!" Selkie called out after her. She stuck out her tongue to try and grab hold of the plane. However, her tongue wasn't long enough, and she fell into the water. "After them, Ryukyu! Froppy!" He looked out to the water. She emerged a few seconds later.
"Don't worry. I'm fine!" The frog-like girl waved a hand. Ryukyu flew after the plane, growling as she couldn't catch up.
"I can't match their speed!"
Selkie slammed a hand against the ship. "Damn it! We should have had them locked down!"
"Captain," Sirius spoke up from his comm. "It's not in your nature to give up! We can catch them! I'm on it, sir!" She was holding a cannon, which Ochaco was holding onto. "Have faith! Is there anything Callista can do to make sure we can see them?"
She flinched and narrowed her eyes, giving some power to her flying star. "There is!" She gave her flying star a boost and then took off past Ryukyu, flying in fast towards the plane. "I can keep this up for a little bit!" I can't use my teleportation at the speed the plane is going currently. So this is what I'll have to do if it means it'll help!
"Uravity. Are you ready?" Sirius asked the brunette as they could see Izuka's star giving off a bright shine, but not too bright that it blinded Ryukyu behind her.
"Yes!" Ochaco answered while looking towards Izuka gratefully.
"Once this is over...let's have another beach day, yeah?" Sirius gave her a smile, winking.
"Okay, can we have a barbecue too?" She grinned back at Sirius.
"You got it. Here we go!" Sirius then fired, Ochaco taking off into the sky. The rope released her and she spun around, pointing her arm and focused her aim.
I can't rush in without thinking. That's what almost got me in trouble last time. Assess the situation... She then fired off the new grappling hook attached to her wrists, which flew towards the plane. Izuka glanced back and smiled proudly at Ochaco in realization. And make an informed decision! She watched the hook grab onto one of the plane's wings. That way, I'm sure to succeed! She then hung on tightly to the plane as Izuka followed after her.
The leader heard a thump and gasped, turning around. Ochaco and Izuka appeared right behind him. "What?!" He yelped as they raced forward and he charged towards Izuka, who flinched. Ochaco swooped in and touched his back. She then lifted him up into the air.
"Gunhead Martial Arts Gravity Plus!" She grabbed him by the wrist. "I've got you now, villain!" She then threw him onto the ground behind them. Izuka looked at him wide-eyed and open-mouthed. Ochaco let out a sigh of relief as she stood up.
"Thanks, Ochaco! You saved me," Izuka smiled happily at her. "That was awesome!"
Ochaco looked up at her and gave a firm nod. "It was nothing! You'd do the same for me."
Suddenly the plane jerked, causing them to yelp. And that was when they realized...that they just took out the pilot. And he wouldn't be able to get up anytime soon. Ochaco sat in the pilot's seat and Izuka sat next to her in a panic.
"Uh...uh-oh. Not good," She looked at the controls in confusion. "Can I fly this?" She gripped the wheel and moved it forward. "Here goes!" The plane moved upwards fast, causing them to scream in a panic. They were both still teenagers, neither of them were expecting to do this today. Izuka gave a nervous look while hugging the seat for dear life.
"No one told us we were gonna be flying a plane!" Izuka screeched as her eyes bulged. Just because she flew didn't mean she knew how to do it from a plane...
"No, what's happening? I'm falling!" Ochaco yelped as they were both heading towards the water.
Selkie ran up to the edge of the ship. "Uravity! Pull back on the yoke!" He informed and she pulled backwards, but they were still heading for the water.
"No, no, no, no, no!" Izuka yelped, trying to keep calm for Ochaco's sake.
"The plane!" Sirius realized why they weren't moving up like they should be. "The engines must be stalling on them!"
"Ochaco, Mido, get out! You're gonna crash!" Tsuyu saw them from the water.
"No, I can't! If this seaplane goes down out here, then its cargo will leak into the ocean," She informed everyone, looking up. "With these chemicals on board, the whole ecosystem will be ruined for decades!" And besides..." She glanced over to Izuka.
"I'm so sorry I didn't support you when they went to go save you and Bakugo!" Ochaco exclaimed while crying and hugging Izuka with Momo. "I wanted to, but I couldn't and I've been such a bad friend! All I wanted to do was take everything back."
"I was too. I should've been there to protect you! You must've been so scared without us!" Momo squeezed her eyes shut, crying as well. It was then the girl realized how much she put them through even though it wasn't her fault. And that...Momo and Ochaco were the best friends she had ever gotten in her life. She teared up a few seconds later.
"I'm sorry too! I shouldn't have worried you so much," She cried out to the two, wailing out happily.
"I promised Mido that I would keep her safe! And I can't break it!" The brunette declared, causing Izuka to blink as her eyes teared up a bit.
"Ochaco..."
The engines then slowly started to stop. "Concentrate. Uravity, make the seaplane weightless," Ryukyu instructed her while she and Nejire were on their way. "Quick!"
"What? But I can't!" Ochaco replied as she had never floated anything that big before. When she made the rock avalanche back at the Sports Festival, that was much easier because they were in pieces, not a huge rock itself. "You want me to float an entire plane? Something this huge would be basically impossible!"
"Are you giving up?" Ryukyu implored, causing her to pause. Just because it seemed impossible...didn't mean she wasn't willing to try. She had done countless things before without even questioning it, and this shouldn't be any different.
"No. Of course not," Ochaco replied while narrowing her eyes.
"Ochaco." She turned towards an encouraging Izuka. "I know you can do this! Part of the work-studies is to go Plus Ultra. I trust you with my life on this."
Ochaco gasped a little from her words and then nodded sharply. The plane continued to move towards the water, with Ryukyu and Nejire still behind. "Help steer them!" Ryukyu instructed Nejire, who flew in front of her.
"Right!" Ryukyu flapped her wings to create gusts of wind, sending them towards Nejire. She narrowed her eyes and spun around. "Full charge output. Release at 90!" Her energy waves charged up as she swung her arms back. "Nejire Wave!" She fired at the seaplane, the two girls bracing themselves. They looked up as the plane was slowly tettering back and forth. Izuka narrowed her eyes while hugging the seat still, knowing that Ochaco could do it.
"This is your chance! Do it now!" Ryukyu informed as Ochaco touched the controls with her Zero Gravity.
"I'm not...giving up!" She shouted as the plane lifted up. Ryukyu grabbed the wings from behind, flapping her own to guide them safely into the water. Nejire giggled from her spot, putting her hand to her ear.
"Hey, hey! We did it! The plane's fine! Ryukyu's on it!" She reported to the crew on the Oki Mariner. Ryukyu rushed into the plane, having turned back to normal. She then looked a little off guard to see Ochaco throwing up on the ground. Izuka patted Ochaco on the back comfortingly, but still had an encouraging smile on her face. "Uravity's a little green in the gills. Oh, Ryukyu said she got the cargo. We were right about it being chemicals used to make Trigger!" Selkie placed his hand on a relieved Tsuyu's shoulder. "Doesn't this mean the mission's complete? Yeah, look at us go!"
Ryukyu, Nejire, Ochaco, and Tsuyu had dropped off Izuka in front of Endeavor's agency as she had the report to give. "It was great to work with you on this one, Mido," Tsuyu spoke up first, a finger on her chin. "I hope you didn't made Bakugo mad, though."
"What? Why would I make him mad?" Izuka blinked at her in confusion.
"He always gets angry when he's not there to protect you himself. He probably worried about you a lot while you were gone because of how much he cares about you deep down, ribbit."
"Huh?!" Izuka flinched as she blushed, holding her cheeks.
"Hey, hey!" Nejire pouted towards the girl as she flew forward. "I thought you said you didn't have a boyfriend."
"He's not!" Izuka whined while trying to calm down. "It's just...complicated."
"Aww, no fun. First Uravity and now you with the secrets," Nejire gave her a small pout. Izuka coughed while tugging at her collar. Clearly, she had a definite idea what Nejire was talking about. Ochaco just turned red again and laughed, rubbing the back of her neck. She silently pleaded that Nejire would forget about it...
"I think it's not the time for this," Izuka gave an awkward laugh in realization, glancing away. "There's nothing we can say right now—not that I have anything to tell!" She caught herself, giving a wide-eyed look. "Because I don't!"
Ochaco giggled a little, both relieved and knowing that Izuka was talking about Katsuki.
"I hope we can work together again sometime!" Nejire smiled while examining Izuka's high ponytail. "And when did you start doing your hair like that? Did someone inspire you or what? Is it because it's winter?"
"I'm sure Callista can answer those another time," Ryukyu gave her a small smile. "Or that Uravity and Froppy can give you some more insight."
"I'll see you back at UA, okay?" Nejire gave Izuka a small smile.
"I know I will," She chuckled a little at her. "Thanks for allowing me to come with you guys, Ryukyu!"
"Anytime. An ally of theirs is an ally of mine," Ryukyu gave her a small nod, smiling.
Izuka smiled back and then stared at Ochaco specifically out of curiosity. "Ochaco...when you said you promised to protect me, what did you mean by that?"
"Oh, well, uh..." Ochaco rubbed the back of her neck. "It's just that...when you got kidnapped, I felt like I couldn't do anything then. So when I was trying to lift up the plane...I wanted to make sure you were safe. I know that nothing like that would happen...but I also wanted to show you how much stronger I'm getting at my work-"
Izuka lunged in to hug her, taking her by surprise. "Ochaco, you didn't need to do that! We can both take care of ourselves. I know it still scares you sometimes, but we protect each other," She pulled back with a grin. "That's what friends do, right? That way, I don't have to worry you like I used to."
Ochaco blinked towards the girl in bewilderment. Mido...I'm gonna work hard so that I can continue to show you the kind of hero you've inspired me to be. I have to keep working like I did today...because if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have gotten to that point.
"...Yeah!" She nodded at the girl firmly. "When we get back from the work-studies, let's show each other how much we've improved!" She held out her fist with a small smile. Izuka smiled as she bumped her fist back into Ochaco's.
"Absolutely!"
"Izuka, that better be you out there!" Katsuki's voice suddenly shouted from outside, getting their attention. "If you're not up here in 30 seconds, I'm kicking your ass!"
"Kacchan! Come on, she was on a team-up mission!" Izuku protested back at him.
"Someone's grumpy," Nejire stared up at the building as Izuka gave a sheepish look.
"Yeah, you better get out of here before he shows up. I'm sure he probably has a little resentment that I wasn't around today..." She sighed, pinching her nose.
"Are you gonna be okay?" Tsuyu stared as Izuka turned around to the doors.
"Yeah, he'll get over it by tomorrow, don't worry about it. Thanks for dropping me off," She waved it off and then closed the door behind her.
"Where the hell have you been all day?!" Katsuki yelled once he had eyes on her, the four staring at the building. "Did you fight any villains without us?"
"No, and stop yelling, people can hear you. This is why sometimes I can't tell you anything!"
"You're yelling too, idiot!" Katsuki screamed, the four wincing from how loud he was being.
"I SAID SHUT UP!" Then a loud smack was heard and they flinched.
"YOU'RE DEAD IF YOU HIT ME AGAIN!"
"Shouldn't you be used to that?" Shoto wondered and a door was heard opening.
"What is all this?!" Endeavor demanded his work-study students. "Did you attack Shoto?!"
"No one attacked him, sir..." Izuku gave a nervous laugh at the obvious favoritism still very apparent...
It's a miracle how much she can handle... All four females outside thought awkwardly.
And so, the next day, the four went fishing on the beach together and then had a seafood barbeque. "Based on lengthy police questioning...it seems the smugglers were just couriers," Selkie reported as the four girls all ate happily. "They hadn't heard anything about where the drugs would end up. The person who ordered their transport also gave them a fake name, so we don't have much to go on."
"I see..." Ryukyu replied as she and Selkie were underneath the beach umbrella again.
"There was one thing that we managed to nail down. The smugglers that we intercepted. They were heading for Otheon," Selkie narrowed his eyes a little.
"Did you say Otheon?" She blinked in alarm, holding her drink. "You mean the country in Europe?"
"I don't know what they were planning on doing once they got there. But, that's no longer an issue, is it?" He wondered, since they stopped the smugglers and they were in jail. So they were seemingly at a dead end that he was okay with. "I guess all's whale...that ends whale!" He put on his cute face once again.
"It's not a cute bit," She voiced her disdain for it this time.
"Yeah, I've come to realize that recently," He remarked as they continued looking out to the water. "Well, no matter." The two then looked over their shoulders as the four girls were jet-skiing together. Nejire was driving as Tsuyu hung onto her. Sirius was surfing on a board while hanging onto a rope, and Ochaco was hang-gliding. "Peaceful days pass all too quickly. Let's enjoy this while we can."
Meanwhile, a statue was in the middle of a room. "Ah..." A voice spoke while standing on a balcony. "So heroes interfered with our shipment," He was just informed of what happened back in Japan with Selkie, Ryukyu, and the others.
"Yes, sir. What would you have us do?" One of his underlings wondered, knowing that the drug was important.
"Forget about it," The leader remarked as he wasn't worried or concerned at all about the news. "We already have the amount we need to enact the plan...Now then," He pressed his lips together. "It's time for us to begin. Humanity will soon know salvation..."
