AN: Hey everyone, I know I said that this chapter was going to have the big changing moment, but it got to long so I'm going to have it for next chapter instead. Sorry. But I hope you enjoy it nonetheless
Disclaimer: I do not own Helluva Boss and Spiroz, Milton, and Mitzy belong to artist DaniDraws. Hedwig and her brothers are mine though.
After waiting for two days to ensure everything was calm and collected, Spiroz and Hedwig thought it would be best for everyone who knew about their relationship to come together and talk about it finally. Hedwig had booked a private party room at their favorite ramen place where they could be left undisturbed and free to be in their proper forms, with a bit of help from Octavia warding it for a little extra insurance. And so it was that Spiroz, Milton, Mitzy, Loona, Octavia, Hedwig, Elrohir, and Elladan were sitting at a circular table in a big Japanese-themed room. The silence between the two races of supernatural beings was thick as both sides tried to figure out what to say.
We were able to talk normally before, Spiroz thought with a grumble. Then again, our lives were in danger, which might have had something to do with it.
Finally, Mitzy broke the ice and groaned before putting her hands in the air. "Okay! That's it! Need to ask this!" She pointed at the three angels, leaning over the table, to everyone's surprise. "Did Jesus and Mary Magdalene have a baby together?!"
Milton's facepalm was so loud it echoed across the room.
"Uhh, no?" Hedwig said before smirking. "Wait, you really thought the Da Vinci Code was real?"
"You mean it wasn't a fake false fiction to hide the real truth from the Vatican to hide the secret that Jesus had a human bloodline to keep control over the religion of Christianity and weren't secretly hunting down his descendants?" Mitzy moaned as she collapsed on her seat. "Dang it, I wanted it to be true."
This made the angels laugh, which soon made the demons chuckle, and by the end, everyone was laughing. Shaking her head, Hedwig got up and smiled at the demons on the other side of the table. "Well, let's make this official. I'm Hedwig Illuminus. Spiro's friend. And these are my idiot brothers."
"Tweedledee!" Elladan grinned as he put his arm around his brother.
"And Tweedledumb," said Elrohir as he did the same thing as his twin.
"Ignore them," Hedwig muttered, rolling her eyes. "They're Elladan and Elrohir. Who I'm hoping are adopted because of their antics."
"We love you too, Sis!" They both said.
"And I'm Prince Spiroz Goetia, but the "z" is silent," Spiroz said with a smile as he showed his family. "These are my sisters. Princess Loona Goetia-Buckzo and Princess Octavia Goetia. And my friends Milton and Mitzy Impwazoski."
"Charmed to meet you," Octavia said with a warm smile. "I'm glad my brother has another friend he can depend on."
"Yeah, I guess you guys are okay, but we're still keeping an eye on you," Loona pointed out with her eyes focused on them.
"So, is everyone okay with us being friends?" Spiro asked as Hedwig smiled warmly at him.
"Yes, we have no problem. Our last adventure assured us that, but will we keep this from our parents? Our folks would understand, seeing as our mother is a former demon herself," Elrohir pointed out.
"Yes, but not every angel is understanding, brother," Elladan pointed out with a severe expression. "Granted, nobody has tried to kill us for our existence like young Spiro here. However, considering he is a child born of two fathers, some angels are against his existence, no different than most demons in Hell."
"And our Dads hate angels," Loona grumbled with a heavy sigh. "I mean, they don't mind the peace, but they hate you guys for all the Extermination shit. Plus, Stolas lost his parents to Exterminators. I don't think he cared too much about his old man, but his Mom?"
"Yeah, Grandma Goetia is someone my Dad misses very much," Octavia whispered sorrowfully.
"Plus, we still got those assassins after Spiro," Mitzy said with a growl. "Someone is tryin' to kill our good friend, and they have to have deep pockets for the gear they used."
Spiroz sighed and shook his head. Demons after him were nothing new, but he hated to see those he cared about and loved getting involved in such a manner. The fact that the demons were willing to risk exposure from Heaven or humans proved that whoever hired them wanted him dead badly. The problem was there were many demons, both powerful and wealthy, who could afford them.
"I'm sorry. This is all because of me. I-" He was soon silenced by Hedwig putting her finger on his lips, and he blushed upon feeling her warm talon. Hedwig was blushing as well, but she was hiding it better.
"Don't. I already told you that I didn't care about that. We're friends, Spiro," Hedwig said with a wink. "To the end."
"T-Thanks," Spiroz said as he rubbed the back of his neck while his heart pounded inside his ribcage. Damnit, why does she make me feel this way?
"What I want to know is what power you used on that last guy," Hedwig pointed out with interest. "I've never felt like anything before, and all my demonology books haven't been much help in figuring it out."
"I did a thorough scan of Spiro when they told me about this," Octavia said, shaking her head. "I didn't feel or sense anything. And he's never used this power before."
"Maybe it's something new?" Hedwig said as she walked over and started looking at Spiroz with such critical eyes and details that it reminded him of their first meeting. Dragging him a bit out, she started checking out various areas of him while poking his body. (She even took the time to check out his butt again, but she hid it very well). "A combined offspring of a powerful Demonic Prince like a Goetia and an imp has never been done before. Not to mention there is the fact that you come from two male parents, so your entire conception is out of this world. You are, in essence, a completely new demon, and all the analysis and data I've gotten from you proves it. Biological, neurological, magical, and so forth. This power may result from your bloodline or maybe even a new creation from your spirit. New magic and miracles are always made when something new is created. And you are the newest thing on the block."
"You've been taking notes on my brother?" Octavia asked, eyebrow raised.
Blushing, Hedwig rubbed her neck and giggled. "Well, I want to be a demonologist when I grow up, and he's the perfect study buddy."
"Study subject, you mean," Sprioz teased before getting slapped in the shoulder by his angelic best friend.
"Our sister tends to go a little overboard when it comes to her demonology hobby," Elladan said with a grin.
Elrohir then chuckled and nudged his brother. "Remember when she got that physiology book about demons from her tenth Christmas? She ignored everything else and went upstairs to read it despite having dozens of other presents."
"It was the best gift ever!" Hedwig shouted with squee.
Octavia and Loona looked at each other and grinned before the latter replied, "Wow, funny you should mention that. Because Spiro here wanted to have this My Little Pony pajamas he wanted for Hellmas-"
"Oh no," Spiroz covered his face in embarrassment as he knew which day they were talking about.
"-and when he got it, he started taking all his clothes off to wear it in front of us! Dad even took pictures of his naked behind!" Loona shouted with a barking laugh as everyone soon followed, with Spiroz wishing he was under a rock right now.
"Aww, how cute! I bet you were an adorable little birdy-imp baby," Hedwig teased, with Spiroz glaring at her.
"Cuter than you," Spiroz huffed.
"Oh, really? I think as an angel, I automatically qualify as cuter!" Hedwig replied as she gave her best baby-doll eyes.
"Oh, please, do you think that's cute? Look at this!" Spiroz shouted as he added a little sparkle to his face and bit his lip with the best "Bambi" expression he could give.
It soon became a "Cute Off," with Hedwig adding an extra shine to her halo, putting a finger to her lip, and giving a cute little wink with stars coming out of it. This was followed by Spiroz showing all his teeth with a whole shine while using his magic to summon some rainbows around his face. The others quickly gave their comments and judgments with each change of appearance before their raman soon arrived and (after rapidly putting on their human disguises) began to feast. Conversations soon ranged to different topics, from life on the other side of the spectrum, while occasionally commenting about popular media ranging from books to movies to cartoons.
At one point, the older siblings of the older siblings were giving embarrassing stories about their younger siblings, followed by tales of how their respective parents got together. The angels told of how their father and mother dealt with all sorts of crap from the more narrow-minded angels who didn't want to see one of their respected military commanders with a former demon, even if she was redeemed. Loona and Octavia compared it to the situations Blitzo and Stolas had to go through to get together, especially since Hell was a lot harsher regarding marriage standards, ironically despite being more open to various sexualities than Heaven was. Ultimately, their respective parents' love won out, and they were happy together even if certain factors (or nearly all factors in the demon's case) hadn't been happy.
It soon started feeling less like a group of angels and demons meeting together for some ramen and instead like a group of close friends. Hedwig and Spiroz looked at each other side by side and smiled warmly as both could see the joy in their eyes about each respective group having fun with the other. There was no fear anymore, but relaxation and comfort knowing everything was alright.
"You know," Spiroz whispered to her, taking another set of noodles into his mouth. "I'm glad this worked out so well."
"Yeah," Hedwig whispered back with a wide smile. "Seeing everyone having fun? It's really nice."
Spiroz nodded before he paused and asked, "Hey, Hedwig? What was that thing you called me in Enochian?"
This made Hedwig almost lose control of her mouth as she barely swallowed her noodles in time while blushing like crazy. "O-O-Oh! Um...I...I..." Her actions soon got everyone else's attention, and she quickly wiped her mouth. "I have to use the bathroom! Be right back!"
Hedwig was soon out of the room before putting on her human disguise. Spiroz blinked and looked at the grinning angelic twins. "I thought angels didn't have to go to the bathroom."
"We don't," Both twins said simultaneously before looking at each other and then back at Sprioz. "Maybe you should check up on her just in case?"
Nodding, Spiroz walked out while in his human disguise with concern on his face. Once he was gone, everyone quickly got serious as Loona asked, "You know he's in love with her?"
"And she's in love with him," The twins said.
"And it's our moral duty as their closest siblings and friends to get them together," Mitzy said with a smile.
"Plus, at this point, it's getting too obvious to ignore it," Octavia giggled. "My brother could use someone romantically in his life, and, despite Hedwig being an angel, I approve of it. Satan knows Samuel helps me feel better daily with him as my lover."
"Yeah, but what about long-term consequences?" Milton pointed out as he shook his head. "Look, I want them to be together too, but how do you think Heaven and Hell will take it if they find out a demon and an angel are romantically together? Has that ever happened before?"
"It has happened in the past, but this was long ago. Like before The Great Flood long ago," Elladan answered, shaking his head. "Most of the time, it's been redeemed demons marrying angels, like our mother, or fallen angels falling in love with demons."
"But an actual demon and angel relationship? I do not think such a thing has existed for millennia," Elrohir commented.
"But even if it's going to cause problems, do we have a right to deny them their feelings?" Octavia asked. She sighed and shook her head. "My brother's been through so much shit, and Hedwig's been able to bring the light into his life that we haven't seen in a long time. I don't want to ruin his chance of falling in love. It would be like trying to prevent Dad and Papa from getting together. It would be hypocritical of us."
"Plus, we can always help them keep it a secret," Miitzy pointed out. "We've managed to do it well so far."
"There is also the threat of whoever is trying to kill Spiro," Milton pointed out, shaking his head. "If they find out about Hedwig, they'll go after her too."
"If they don't know already, considering what happened at the mall," Loona grumbled.
There was a long silence between them as they tried to think of what to do. They wanted to see the two together, but there were definitely going to be consequences for this. More so for Spiroz due to the already known hatred most of Hell's population had for his mere existence. Not that Heaven might not have a backlash over it as well, but the concept and danger might be too much.
"There might be...one way to determine if this can work out," Elladan whispered as a thought came to him, and it seemed to come to his brother as well as he looked at him with understanding.
"What?" Octavia asked.
"She could be the one to tell us, and she'll keep it a secret," Elrohir pointed out with a nod.
"Could one of you please tell us what you are talking about?" Loona asked, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
The twins nodded and answered, "Sophia. The Archangel of Love."
"Wait, THE Sophia? The one who helped Adam and Eve have a better marriage after the whole scenario with Lilith? The only Cherub in Heaven's history to ever be awarded the upgrade to Archangel level? The one who can tell you who your destined soulmate is? That Sophia?" Octavia asked in awe.
"Archangel Sophia can instantly tell you whoever you are in love with is your soulmate, at the very least, if a romance between you and the one you want will end up successful or not," Elrohir explained with a serious expression. "If we can get her to meet with Hedwig, and she can tell her if she and Spiro are good together? Then that will answer all our questions."
"You mean find out if they are soulmates?" Mitzy asked, tilting her head.
"We're not sure they are soulmates," Elladan chuckled while holding his hands up. "That's rare, even among us angels. Soulmates are when God himself purposely pairs you together for a purpose. I doubt God will allow a demon and an angel to be soulmates. In love, sure. But soulmates? Again, super rare. That only happens if it's part of a grand plan."
"But she can tell us whether Hedwig and Spiro can work out. If she says they can, we can let them get together; if not, we can prevent it. For their safety, of course," Elrohir explained.
"That kinda seems a bit deceptive in a way. Are we sure we should let an angel decide this without telling them?" Loona asked with uncertainty.
"She doesn't decide if they get together or not. She can just foresee how it will turn out. And she's never wrong," Elrohir answered.
"What's the harm in it anyway?" Elladan asked. "It's not like it would prevent them from still being close friends. Trust us. This might be our best shot."
The four demons looked at each other and then slowly nodded in agreement. Octavia then asked, "How will you get her to meet up with Hedwig?"
"Um, we don't know," Elladan replied with a nervous rub of his neck. "But we'll figure something out."
Elrohir quickly said, "Just give us a few days."
The demons sighed, figured this was the best they could hope for, and prayed that they weren't setting the two lovebirds up for disaster.
With their meal ended, the group soon retreated to the forest near the town to prepare for their respective portals to their home dimensions. Phone numbers were exchanged, and Milton had to do everything he could to prevent the twins from handing Mitzy some heaven-made guns because she was that desperate for them after seeing them in action. The portals were soon made, and everyone was ready to go until Hedwig asked, "Do you guys mind if I talk to Spiroz alone for a second?"
The others looked at each other and nodded before leaving after saying farewells. Once everyone was beyond their respective portals, Hedwig smiled at a curious Spiroz. "I know I said it before, but thanks for saving my life there."
"I couldn't let anything happen to you," Spiroz said as he took her hands and stared at her. He firmly stated, "I'd rather...I'd rather it have been me than you."
"Don't say that," Hedwig whimpered, shaking his head. "Remember what I said that day when you told me the truth about yourself? How would everyone be sad if something happened to you, especially me? I meant it. Spiroz, you are one of the most important people in the world to me. You are...my Meddruxgonmedtal Talgonnauntalgisg."
"...What does that mean?" Spiroz asked.
Hedwig blushed and whispered, "Um...well...I...I'll tell you later...I just...I need to think about something..."
Although curious, Spiroz suspected it was extraordinary and was hesitant to say anything. However, he knew it was best not to press the matter even if a part of him desired to know. In truth, he knew deep down he also had something important to say to Hedwig, and he needed to think about it. However, he did want to say something to her now, and he put his hands on her shoulders, making her snap her attention to him as she froze up.
"Hedwig? Let me also say this. You are also one of the most important people in my life. Before I met you, I was going through the motions and felt lifeless because nobody outside my family valued me as a living being. But when I met you?" He smiled so bright it was like its own star in the night sky. "I felt like I was reborn again. Like I had a purpose again: to be with you. To make you laugh and have fun. I love all our time together, and I never want it to end. You made me feel alive, Hedwig. You made me feel like I was a real person again. Not some anathema to existence that everyone else has always painted me as."
He then hugged her tight and pressed his fuzzy cheek against her own. "And I can never thank you enough."
"S-Spiro..."
"Spiroz."
"Huh?" Hedwig asked in surprise as he looked at her eye to eye with a giggle.
"I want you to call me Spiroz—my real name. Full name. Because next to my family? You deserve to say it," He said joyfully.
"O-Okay," Hedwig chuckled as she pressed her hands to her mouth. "Or I can call you Spiry."
"Spiry?" Spiroz asked in surprise.
"A nickname! I think it sounds cute!" Hedwig said with another laugh.
"O-Oh! Well, I like it!" Spiroz said with a large blush on his cheeks as his heart began to beat. It reminded him of the nickname his Owl-Father always called his Imp-Father, "Blitzy." Wait, does she also-
"Um, I better get going. I'll...see you later," Hedwig whispered as she touched his warm hands again, smiling until they parted much to his disappointment. "See you, Spiry."
"You too, Hedwig," Spiroz said before slowly backing away to the portal leading home. Neither of them stopped looking at each other as they did before finally crossing over into their respective planes, and the portals soon closed, which made Spiroz reach out a bit before pausing.
"Spiry, huh?" Loona asked with a grin as the others all looked at him equally.
Spiroz, however, just chuckled and shook his head. "You were right."
"About what?"
"About how I feel about her," Spiroz whispered before his eyes lit up. "I am in love with her."
Asmodeus looked at the reports and photos given to him by the assassination company he had hired. Naturally, he originally wanted to avoid paying them the total price despite the failure to assassinate the hybrid freak, but when they presented this information, he changed his tune. This was gold. The freak and his friends were associated with angels. It didn't take him long to realize that the Evil Eye that was used to kill his beloved Fizzy came from these halo-wearing fuckers.
He growled as he glared so hard at one photo that held the face of the female owl angel that was very close to the murderer of his beloved. Oh, how he would love to drag her little body, broken and bleeding, through the streets of all of Lust, naked and screaming in despair as he let his demonic residents do whatever they wanted to her body. He didn't care if it got him in trouble with Heaven or even Queen Charlie. Nothing matters more than making everyone who had a hand in Fizzarolli's death suffer a thousand times before he ends them. Armageddon could happen, and he would still be satisfied if it meant having his revenge.
But I went about it wrong the first time, Asmodeus thought with narrow eyes. That first attempt was all based on rage. I need to think smart. I need to break Spiroz and his group before I kill them. Plus, if I want to get my revenge on these angels, I'll need to play this carefully. It may take a while.
But that was fine with Ozzy.
He could wait a hundred years if it meant seeing Spiroz's broken body six feet under, along with the rest of his family and friends.
He could wait.
