Finding the right door had not taken me long, but I was exceptionally confused at first. Given how tired I was, it was unsurprising.
The first door I tried was locked. Mirror. No matter what happened, I was going to avoid that room. Since I was Sabrina, I figured I could do some damage control for when the betrayal happened.
The second door on the left opened to show a bedroom with one big bed inside, and about a dozen or so strange and potentially dangerous objects hanging around it. A battleaxe hung just next to the headboard, and terrifying masks covered too many surfaces for it to be anyone's room other than Granny's.
The third door was also locked, but this one had sound coming from under the door and I could see light shining, which mean that this room was '.
The fourth was still not Puck's, instead, I assumed it to be Daphne and Sabrina's, given one big bed in the middle and the clothes a colourblind wolf had picked out for two girls lay all over the floor and furniture. Mostly, the clothes looked like they would fit someone around seven or eight years old, so Daphne's age.
Finally, the fifth door opened to show me the magnificence of the outdoors. The first thing I saw was the rolling hills of grass and other plant life, with occasional trees and the such popping up. The sky shone bright blue, white clouds making the whole scene look like a painting.
There were, however, a few things that ruined the scene. One was a towering throne made of sticks, sitting on top of one of the closer hills and sticking out like a sore thumb. Another was a run-down rollercoaster to my right, looking as if it hadn't been cleaned let alone touched in decades. There was an ice cream truck parked next to that scene, and as if that wasn't enough, a trampoline sat behind it, just barely visible.
A rocky pathway led me to the coaster and ice cream truck, then to the throne and around in circles, but I wanted to try and find the end of the trail before getting off and making whatever hammock Granny spoke of liveable for myself for the time being.
Twisting and turning on the path for a few minutes more, I quickly got bored and stopped. Looking at where I was now, I'd surprised myself by how far I'd managed to walk in such a short time.
The doorway back to the house was now quite a distance away, so far that I could barely see it at all. I had decided by then that this room was hopeless, how could I find the boundaries of a room that seemed to have none, so I headed back. Not straying off the path, I quickly made my way back to the door. In fact, it was suspiciously quickly, considering how far I had been before. I chose to ignore that and later on found out that his room was in some sort of time-space bump, so everything inside was slightly weirdly timed and spaced out. That is how a large forest and fields and bog all fit inside what looked to be a normal room from the outside.
Opening the wooden door, I bumped into Granny, and she proved to be helpful once again. "Granny, I can't find any hammock in there,"
"He probably took it down, or something of the sort. Did you find anything you could sleep on?" She heaped a pile of laundry into my arms. "And here, take this to your and Daphne's room, you still have to keep your things there until we get you the room. I don't think you want Puck near your clothes,"
"Not at all," I agreed readily and balanced the laundry by placing my head on top of the pile. "And I think I saw a trampoline in there, if it's clean I could sleep there,"
"That's good, Liebling," she gave me a tight smile, then hustled away to the locked door, quickly making her way inside. I wanted to tell her not to go in, but once again, my jaw locked. I could do nothing as she walked into the room and locked it behind her, leaving me alone in the hallway.
I thought for a second, trying to remember the room I determined to be mine and Daphne's, or just Daphne's now. It was the one to my left, and I quickly opened it and dropped all the clothes on the bed and proceeded to look through them. A couple of things looked like something I would actually wear, but only one or two. The rest was covered in weird designs and brightly coloured, enough so that I would look crazy if I wore it outside. I suspected the clothes I wore at the moment were a few of the more normal ones, and the only ones Sabrin had worn for a while now.
"I gotta go shopping or something," I mumbled to myself, messily looking through the pile. Everything extra small went on the other side of the bed for Daphne to deal with, but the clothes I determined to be mine I folded neatly and divided into three piles. The Keep pile was by far the smallest, with a dark purple hoodie and a bunch of socks and underwear. The No Way pile was definitely the biggest, having things like a neon orange pair of knee-length socks and green skinny jeans with a rip below the knee that could fit my pinky finger and that's it. The last pile was the Maybe's, having a couple of oversized tee's in muted tones, and a denim jacket with a couple of rips in the overly large sleeves.
It was safe to say that when I walked downstairs holding the No Way pile in my arms, Granny was confused. "Liebling?"
"Hi Granny, I'm sorry and everything, but there is no way I will wear any of this," I shrugged, my face covered with clothes. "Keep them for when Daphne's older, maybe, but there is no way I will wear any of this. Also, I need pants, like, yesterday, because any pants from that pile went into this pile of never wearing. Skinny jeans are not my thing at all."
"Relda, what is this?" a snarky male voice asked Granny, and I almost dropped the clothes.
"Whoops, my bad. I didn't know we had guests, gimme a sec." I then turned around, unceremoniously dumped the clothes on the couch, and sat down to face the tall man who had previously been talking to Granny. The man had a funny hairstyle, his black hair slicked down and yet sticking up in a weird way. He also had the chaddest chad-face I had ever seen before. He wore a suit, which I had to admit he filled out nicely, and a red tie hanging from his neck.
"Grimm, what the hell-"
"Don't swear in front of my granddaughter," Granny interrupted.
"Granny it's fine, I know my cuss words already," I assured her.
"As I was saying," Granny shot me a look, "You should check up on the school sometime, William,"
"No, Relda. We both know what happened last time I saw-" he stopped abruptly and shot me a nasty look, "Listen, kid, why don't you go up to bed or something?"
I had already suspected who he was, but Granny calling him by his name solidified that theory for me, "Mayor Charming, if you're talking about Snow White, I already know all the mush,"
He gave me a sour look, then proceeded to ignore me and continue talking to Granny, "We both know what happened. And I'm much too busy, as the Mayor," he puffed his chest out slightly, making Granny sigh as I hid a snicker, "I have far too many duties,"
"Like what, bullying Mr. Seven?" I asked nonchalantly.
He turned to glare at me, "Quiet, child,"
"Then don't bully those who don't have as much power as you. Mr. Sever works hard and all you do is make fun of him. Grow up," I stood up and left, not saying another word.
"You know she's right," Granny told him as I left, "You treat him way too harshly."
"Shut up,"
"Oh, Granny, I came here to ask if we could go shopping," I spun around and peeked from behind the wall. "I do need clothes for school, you know."
"Fine, fine, Liebling. How about you and Mr. Canis go tomorrow? And take Puck, he needs new clothes too. Daphne should be fine, she loves the colours," she muttered to herself.
"Sure, Granny."
I jumped up the stairs and ran down the hall to Daphne's room. I had no idea where she was, but I was grateful she was not in the room. Quickly going through the closet, I found pyjamas and changed into them. It was a winter set, fleece sweatpants with the ugly sweater pattern and a fluffy red shirt with a Christmas tree on the front. I didn't mind, seeing as I loved the holiday. I also managed to find some fuzzy slippers and put them on, so I could walk around Puck's room with something on my feet and not barefoot. I also grabbed a pillow and one of the blankets in the room to take with me.
Quickly leaving the bedroom, I opened the door to Puck's room and stepped in. When I saw what he was doing, I almost dropped my pillow. He stood on a rock not far from me and looked as if he was making a speech to a horde of what looked to be monkeys, which I quickly realized to be chimpanzees.
Making my way closer to them, I could make out what he was saying, "-And we shall rise to the top of the food chain, only the Gods above us!"
"Puck, what are you talking about?" I asked, startling the boy enough to almost tip over off the DIY pedestal.
Shooting me a nasty look for scaring him, he grabbed the blanket from my shoulders and wrapped it around himself to look like a cape. "We shall rule the world, everyone bowing at our feet. Obey me, and we will get the world we deserve!"
Instead of standing there in my Christmas pyjamas and holding a pillow in the wind, I clambered up on the rock and tried to take the blanket from him completely as he said his speech. When that did not succeed, I wrestled out one side and tucked myself in the warmth too, standing shoulder to shoulder with him and looking at the now confused chimps.
"We will not stand for this abuse!" Puck screeched, and the chimps followed.
"Chimps, listen up!" I called. Surprisingly, they listened to me and quieted. Then, I had no idea what to say and just blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "First one to make me an acceptable bed gets a prize!"
Instant chaos ensued as the chimps broke off into groups and got to work. I looked at what I had done in disbelief, and Puck gave me a disappointed look, "Now look what you've done. It took me ages to rile them up, how did you even do that?"
"I dunno," I shrugged. "Mind giving me my blanket now?"
"No, you gotta share," he argued, "I took it from you fair and square unless you do the same it is now my property."
"What do you mean, took it fair and square?" I demanded, "I own the blanket, and you never paid for it nor did I give it to you, so it is still my property."
"Well if we're talking about paying, then all this is technically the Old Lady's," he gestured to the chimps and everything around them.
"Shuddup," I grumbled and wrapped the blanket tighter around myself. "Don't you have any blankets here?"
"Nope, don't need one." he shrugged unceremoniously.
"Then why are you hogging mine?" I practically growled at him as another gust of wind ruffled my hair.
"Because it's funny, duh,"
I punched him in the arm.
"What was that for?" he rubbed his arm with a wince, glaring at me.
"For this," I demonstrated the blanket, now wrapped around myself. He had let it go to rub his punched limb, and I took the chance to steal back what was rightfully mine.
He muttered a few words I don't want to write down here, and I laughed at his misery. "Where do you even sleep, in this chaos?" I nodded my head at the forest and the chimps, not letting the blanket go again.
"In the trampoline, usually. I'm definitely stealing one of those beds they make for you though, the Trickster King needs the best beauty he can get, after all." he fluttered his wings as he said it and I snickered.
"Well, aren't I the Queen of Sneaks?" I countered. "Plus, I'm the one who got them to do the work. I dibs first pick,"
Puck then slouched. No one could argue with dibs, and he knew he would be made fun of relentlessly if he did. "You'll pay for this, Grimm."
"Oh no, I'm so scared." I rolled my eyes.
After Puck and I had chosen beds we like, we got the chimps to move them over to the trampoline. As promised, I snuck out of the room and took two cartons of ice cream from the freezer and quickly made my way back to the room. One of them I hid behind my back, and the other was for the five chimps who had made my bed.
Minutes later, when all was calm, I sat up in bed and took the spoon I had taken from my pocket and dug into the delicious coldness. The best ice cream to exist is pistachio, no one could argue that. As I munched on my food, Puck seemed to realize something was happening and sat up. Looking around for the source of the noise, he saw me with a spoon in my mouth and a tub of icecream in my lap and instantly flew over.
"I share my room with you, allow you to use my materials and army to make yourself a bed, and don't even prank you, and this is how you repay me?" he plopped himself down right in front of me and dug a finger into the ice cream, scooping up a ton and sticking it in his mouth as I gaped at him.
"Puck that's disgusting!" laughing through my words, I offered him my spoon, "Share?"
Looking at me weirdly, he took the spoon and reluctantly agreed. The next thirty minutes were spent by fighting over a spoon in whispers, and my trying not to tip over the ice cream.
All in all, it was a pretty good evening. In the books, Puck was much more prank-y and very much more juvenile, but here it seemed as if he was already starting to mature. Sabrina in the books despised Puck over all the jokes he played on her, but that might have been because he wanted her to react as she did. Now, he knew I was older and an entirely different person. It was entirely possible he was going to prank me soon enough, but as he had not done so yet I was quite happy with myself.
