The thunk of wood echoed in the small clearing on Kyoshi island. The sunrise was still far off. And the waves were lapping languidly against the sand. Suki stuck out her tongue, hefted the curved stick and let it fly again. It glided maybe four feet and hit a tree.
She rolled her eyes in irritation and went to fetch it. She picked it up and spun it around in her hands a few times. Flinging a stick wasn't like fighting with a fan. But Sokka had been right about the boomerang. Some knowledge of ranged weaponry would definitely be useful. Maybe she should focus more on something like archery? Even then she would need to improve on the design already on Kyoshi island.
They simply weren't a culture that valued ranged weaponry in combat. It didn't come up all that often. Physical attacks and ambushes were considered much more honorable. Or lacking that a lot more practical.
She sat on the dew wet grass and sighed. The clouds from the storm were finally starting to fade away. She hoped that Sokka got home okay. He had so far to go. And that rain was dangerous. She doubted any ships would be able to navigate in a storm that intense.
She took a deep breath. She loved the smell of her island after a storm. Fresh and wonderful. Alive and unique. She plopped onto the grass and strung it through her fingers. She stared up at the stars as they went out one by one. She was melancholy. She missed Sokka. He had only left a few days ago. But she felt like he had been gone for years.
Maybe it was the knowledge that there was more world out there. Or maybe it was just the childishness of missing a close friend. But her home felt too small. Her friends felt too repetitive. Maybe the danger of the island was how isolated it was. Her culture was the same all over the island, and it seemed to almost lead to infighting among the adults. Quarreling over the tiniest little thing that Avatar Kyoshi had said over four hundred years ago.
Kyoshi island survived because it was isolated. But what if it reached out towards others? Would it be possible for the island to thrive?
Suki still loved her island, she still loved her culture, but surely there was more out there right? Would she hold her culture nearer and dearer if she experienced other cultures? Even just Earth Kingdom ones?
She knew that she appreciated her warm house after Sokka described his igloo, she knew that she appreciated their standing grappling moves after he taught her wrestling, and she found herself confused yet interested in his description of jellyfish tentacle soup.
Was this it? Staying in her small home village? Loving this island? And eventually being swallowed whole by it? She shook her head. She stood up and picked up her piece of throwing wood. Maybe instead of trying to make it like a boomerang she could sharpen it. Fling it like a fan…It wouldn't be traditional but it might just work.
She crunched down the path, the pine needles were starting to turn. There was a pretty good chance there would be an early snow. Which was strange. The Summer wasn't ready to end yet. But the weather had been going haywire for around one hundred years. Ever since the Avatar disappeared without a trace. And the Fire Nation had begun their invasions. At least that is what the elders told everyone. The few Earth Kingdom's that traded with Kyoshi island only ever brought antiquated news.
Suki paused by the beach. She slipped behind a tree with a frown. Someone was flopping up out of the waves. She felt her heart beat. Hard and fast and wild. It couldn't be….He had just left!
"Sokka?" She whispered. She left her hiding place and headed towards the bay. The sputtering damp being stood up, reached down, and yanked up another figure. She let out a cough and then vomited salt water. A third figure pulled themselves out of the water. She was shivering, her arms wrapped around her sides.
The boy and the girl got their arms around the last girl and yanked her onto the sand. The three then collapsed. Coughing and hacking, like half drowned rat iguanas during a bad rainstorm.
"Your fault! This is all your fault!" One of the little girls shouted at the boy. Her nails were painted red, and make up was smeared down her face. The boy tried to stand up, and only wound up landing heavily on his back with a groan.
"And as for you." The scowling girl said turning towards the other one. The little girl with the collar and the weird hat on pushed the shouter. Hard.
"How did this even happen?" Zuko moaned rubbing his eyes.
"It's beautiful out here!" Katara crowed. She couldn't suppress her feelings anymore. The world was big and beautiful and massive! The ocean crashed against the side of the yacht like waves on the beach. Katara ran down the deck, turned on a dime and ran back. Her hair flying behind her, whipping her back and shoulders.
"I've never seen her so lively before." Ursa said in amazement. She grinned and pushed down her large floppy straw hat. It managed to cover most of her face. The shade felt wonderful. Especially since the air was already blisteringly hot. The breeze helped a little bit though.
"She hasn't ever had this much space to run around in. Or even been this close to the ocean before." Kya said pointedly. The water looked so clear and sparkling. Kya glanced over the side and shivered. Like all good members of the Water Tribes, Kya had a healthy respect and fear for the water. Water gave life, it gave food, protection, building materials, but it also contained horrors. The spirits lived deep down in the darkest places. And there were the multiple man eaters that lived in the depths.
The yacht they were on was smaller then most war ships. But larger then many fishing vessels. With three levels. The bottom one exclusively for the crew and support staff. But the top two floors were as glorious as a mansion.
"She is like an excitable puppy kitten. Just adorable." Ursa said with a titter. She pushed the hat back and walked further along the deck. The royal family and their servants had been on the boat for a few hours now. But they had been constrained to a private library in the very center of the interior. It was meant for their own protection. And to make sure that they were all hidden.
If enemies of the Fire Nation knew that two of the Fire Nation's Princess's and Zuko were on the boat it would instantly become a target by their enemies. Of which there were several. So they had gotten onto the boat under the cover of night and been left sitting in the room well into the morning.
Kya was just grateful that she had gotten the opportunity to nap for a little bit. And from what she had seen of the ship they lacked an actual gymnasium. So some of her exercises could be put aside and she could relax. She didn't know how she felt about that. After all she had been ordered to work out more. And she enjoyed the flood of endorphins that working out gave her. Perhaps next time they could adapt a ship with a deck for working out and exercise.
Gymnasium aside the boat did have multiple other leisure and privilege's. For example the massive dining room and kitchen. With a built in ice closet and wine room. They would definitely not starve on this journey. There was also the three massive bedrooms that took up a solid quarter of space. A lounge room on the deck so they could watch the ocean but get out of the sun. And a smaller library alongside the larger protective one.
"Mother I'm bored." Azula said popping up beside Ursa and Kya. Ursa took a very long sigh and then leaned down to speak to her daughter.
"We are on vacation. You're supposed to be bored."
"There is relaxation then there is boredom. What are we supposed to do on this boat anyway?" Azula let out a surprised yelp as Katara came skidding into her.
"Mistress Azula! They have a volleyball court! Do you know how to play? I've never played! How do you play?"
"How much sugar did you have this morning?" Azula said in amazement. Katara grinned cheekily and grabbed the girls hand.
"Come on! You need to teach me how to play okay? We can be on one team against Zuko!" The two girls barreled down the deck. Feet clacking on the fresh wood. They got halfway down and peeled off their shoes. Running barefoot and free on the very expensive deck.
"Well I know what I want to do for the rest of the day." Ursa said with a smile.
Azula jumped and spiked the volleyball. It flew over the net. Zuko moved just as fast and knocked it back to her. Katara ran around on Azula's side. She set it up and managed to get the ball back over herself. Zuko missed that time.
He fell onto his backside and moaned in irritation.
"It's not fair. It's uneven!" He whined. Azula tossed her head back with a laugh.
"Life isn't fair! Deal with it!" The boat went over a swell. Katara took a deep breath of the salty air. The wind was starting to pick up. Billowing around them all. She shivered, she was barely over her summer sickness. She'd never been that sick before. All she could really remember was how hot she had been. And how comfortable the blankets had been.
The click of multiple high heels came from the upper deck. A group of servants put down some lounge chairs and some small tables covered with sweet fruits and bitter wine. Then came out Ursa and Kya in microkini's.
Ursa's dark red bikini had golden thread that barely kept the squares in place over her generous nipples. Her ass was fully on display. She had on black high heels and her silly floppy straw hat. Her thong like bikini bottom had the fire nation insignia on it. But you would be hard pressed to find it, since it was so small and form fitting.
Kya's tube top had been replaced by a sling microkini, a dark black one. Her collar was replaced with a golden one with a bright red ruby in the center. She nervously adjusted her top, trying to keep her breasts firmly in place. A sheer see through blue wrap was tied tightly around her generous hips.
Kya leaned over the balcony deck and waved to the children. She then joined her mistress on the lounge chairs. She kicked up her feet and leaned back with a sigh. The lap of the water, the heat of the sun, the brisk breeze, even the calling of the birds, she felt relaxed, she felt in awe. She crossed her legs and picked up a piece of fruit.
"This is living." Ursa said with a grin. She pulled a scroll from a small satchel and began to read the epic. A small band of old eunuchs began to strum out a soothing relaxing tune. Kya knew that this couldn't last. That it shouldn't last. That she should be looking for a way to escape. But somehow she just couldn't bring herself to do it.
After all they were so far away from the palace and the countless guards, they were so far away from Lord Azulon's presence and Ozai's needs. In fact it occurred to Kya that there was very little need to rush. An escape attempt would make more sense if they were even further away. She and Katara could flee at any time. It made perfect sense for them to flee when it was closer to home. Or at least further away from the fire nation.
The sound of the children playing, the thrum of the water, the flap of the wind. All of it relaxed the big breasted slave. And soon she was snoring softly. Ursa pushed her hat back and smiled gleefully at the now sleeping Kya. Ursa felt her eyes creep over the other woman. Taking in her chin and cheek, the soft neck, the firm stomach, the slowly ripening muscles. The rippling way her breath went through her stomach. The woman was intoxicating. Just glorious.
Ursa felt her heart go pitter patter anxiously. She loved watching the woman. She loved admiring every last inch of her. She felt her core burn with desire for Kya. And something deeper, something far more animalistic. Ursa cleared her throat and sipped her chilled wine. Suddenly feeling very warm and vaguely perky. Kya made her feel like this at the most unexpected moments. Not that Ursa minded per se. But the way Kya made her feel, it was an indescribable feeling she had only experienced in fleeting many many years ago.
The open ocean continued to sway the boat. And the children playing on the deck brought a small smile to Ursa's immaculately made up face. She leaned back into her chair with a grin. This was going to be an utterly fantastic vacation. Away from all the hustle and bustle of court life. The yacht was a perfect infestment.
Hopefully they would be able to bring the children's friends with them. Maybe Lu Ten and Iroh as well. They could enjoy the fresh air, the sunlight, the sea breeze, everything together as a family.
"Our lady."
"We've been waiting."
"Impatiently."
Ursa's eyes snapped open and she sat up just as quickly. The educators stooped formally before her. Their long ears and pearl white hair made them appear vaguely otherworldly. There was no way to tell the twins apart. They were the same, down to the very last wrinkle.
"Lo and Li. And here I thought that you two would be preparing Azula's school plan." Ursa sat up with a frown. She did not want to be interrupted. Especially when she was supposed to be on vacation.
"We have attempted to get in touch with you."
"For a few months now."
"But all of our letters have gone unanswered."
"A truly terrible oversight for your secretaries." Lo and Li spoke one after the other. Whichever was speaking first it was not clear. Kya rubbed her eyes and yawned. She sat up and then stiffened. Her shoulders quivering as she glanced between the two. The low ranking yet ambitious royals didn't even give her a look. Ursa had to admire them for that, the two were always focused.
"I left her education in your hands. Anything else is not my business. Fire Lord Azulon promised my family that you were the best choices for our Azula. His decision wasn't incorrect now was it?" Ursa's icy tone did not betray a hint of fear. Lo and Li exchanged stoic glances.
"Our questions are more related to the more feminine side of her training."
"She always exceeds in Fire Bending."
"We have no fear of her falling behind in that."
"Nor in political maneuvering."
"She is far more intelligent then even us."
"But when it comes to having a successful household."
"We are concerned for her development."
"And we can discuss said development over dinner tonight. Since I assume the two of you snuck onto our yacht you will both be joining us for the evening meal?" Ursa said snidely. Lo and Li bowed formally.
"As our Fire Lady wishes." They turned and shuffled off rapidly down the deck. Heads together, speaking rapidly. Ursa snorted and shook her head.
"Those two schemers. To think that they taught Ozai and Iroh. They would teach my grand children and great grandchildren if given the opportunity." Ursa laughed coyly to Kya. Gossiping about the two fire hens as if they were mere oddities. Kya stood up on shaky legs. She walked quickly to the railing. Her lips tight, her back straight.
"Kya?" Ursa called after her pet in concern. Kya got to the railing and spat twice over the side. The waves lapped it up rapidly. She then made a strange move in front of her face. As if she was collecting and then flinging something smoke like away.
"What was that all about?" Ursa said in confusion.
"Were they blessed? When they were born? You people do know blessings don't you?" Kya said in terror. Ursa frowned in annoyance.
"Blessings? What are you on about?"
"They…they're twins!" Kya shivered and rubbed her arms together. "Worse they are same gendered! I….twins! On a boat! Did they get their blessings before getting on?" Kya held her fists together, tapping the knuckles together nervously. Ursa fought back a chuckle. The move looked just like something her daughter would do.
"Why are you getting so distressed over this? They are just educators. They over see Azula when she is away at academy. Honestly I didn't think you would be this superstitious."
"It's not superstition! Same gendered twins bring bad luck on boats! That's common knowledge among the Water Tribe." Ursa rolled over onto her stomach and snapped her fingers.
"We can talk and work at the same time. There is suntan oil. Oil me." Kya obiedntly kneeled beside her mistress. She began to spread the oil across Ursa's shoulders. Darting her fingers around Ursa's sides. Across her lower back. Her kissable arms and long drumstick like legs. Kya's fingers ached and she squished them against Ursa's large fat ass cheeks. She felt her breath hitch. Ursa moaned and wiggled a little under her lover's grasp.
"Now. Twins. You said they are considered bad luck in the south?"
"Same gendered twins share the same soul. It is bad luck to keep them together on the same boat. They shouldn't even touch one if it can be managed." Kya insisted. Ursa chuckled, pushing her hat back a little.
"No no no. Twins are good luck. All twins are good luck. Be it both boys, both girls, one of each. They are dragon blessed. They manage to keep the world harmonious. Some say that twins are the reincarnations of former lovers. A way to keep the family together so to speak. Lo and Li are vile little jellies. But that's just because they are ambitious, and intelligent. Trust me we do not have to fear them because they are twins."
Ursa gasped. Kya's fingers had slipped beneath her swimsuit bottom and rubbed up the curve of her ass cheek. Kya's long strong fingers then slipped between Ursa's spread legs. She began to carefully finger her mistress. Ursa smiled and put her cheek on her pillowed arms.
"Yesssss. That's a good girl. Just like that." Ursa cooed in pleasure. Kya rolled her eyes. Then licked her lips. She had only done this on a whim. To make Ursa a little more at ease. But clearly she was as horny as Kya was.
Ursa's breathing grew heavy, then heavier, and soon she was panting away like an eager little bitch. Her toes curled. Her legs spread. Her nose wrinkled up cutely. She began to gasp and pant. Eyes squeezed tightly closed.
Kya swung a leg up and over Ursa's back. She sat on top of her mistress. Legs pushing down on her. Her fingers and hands getting to work on Ursa's bottom. The suntan oil was spreading across Kya's stomach and tits. Her massive shoulder boulders popped free from her swimsuit and plopped onto Ursa with a satisfying slopping noise.
The two women were groaning. Kya's wet pussy lips were rubbing eagerly against Ursa's shoulders and back. They were both getting their rocks off simultaneously. Their eyes closed tight and their necks stood out. Their orgasms rose and fell in tandem. Ursa let out a satisfied little sigh.
The salty breeze pulled the scent of sex away from them both. Kya carefully pulled off of Ursa and then curled half dressed against her. Ursa pulled Kya closed and gave her glorious bodyguard a kiss to the forehead. Then nervously bit her lip. Ursa leaned down, awkwardly curving her neck, and pressed their foreheads together. A close kiss.
Kya blinked in surprise at the tender movement. But she too took a deep breath in. Then out.
The tossing of the waves against the prow caused the entire boat to lift and fall rapidly. Katara stumbled and landed heavily against the wall. Azula turned around and snorted in irritation.
"Would you two hurry up?" She snapped. Not used to waiting so long.
"We can see the storm just as well from our rooms." Zuko complained. Azula tossed her hair over one shoulder in contempt. She had changed to her red sleeping robe. The excessive amount of fabric trailing behind her. She had on red silk slippers and her black hair was out of its tight bun. She still insisted on wearing make up.
Zuko's silk robe was shorter and tighter. He was yawning and had some spit dripping down his cheek. Katara walked behind them both, her legs still unsteady on the tilting floor. She didn't know why, she had lived her entire life surrounded by boats. If anything she should be impressing them.
Maybe it was because this hardly felt like a boat. A boat should be something small you could easily maneuver. This beast was far too large. It was impressive, but it felt more like a floating village then an actual boat. Just another grandiose thing from the Fire Nation to make her feel inadequate. She actually wondered what the South had invented lately to be so proud of. They never made boats this big, or fashioned tools out of metal, or created massive cities.
Being young she didn't think too deeply. Such as how the South Pole didn't have any metal to work. And what metal there was wouldn't float properly. Or even if a boat this large was made it couldn't be docked anymore. As to why they never created massive cities was because the tundra couldn't support them. But being a child she didn't know this.
So she was instead impressed with all of the work that went into creating this final pleasure yacht.
The trio wandered into a small dance room. The floor was tile and marble. The curtains were thick and red. The windows rose up to the ceiling. Bars of solid gold, thin as a pinky, ran up the glass. A small table was set up in the middle. The legs of the table had been bolted down. Along with the seven small wooden chairs surrounding it.
Lo and Li had dined with the family. The two had raised their eyebrows once or twice when Kya and Katara had joined them for the evening meal. But neither remarked upon it. The remains of the meal and the fine sweet dessert had been removed hours ago.
A lantern swung above the table. Seated across from each other with some cards sat Kya and Ursa. They glanced up. Kya smiled, Ursa frowned.
"Aren't you three supposed to be in bed?" Ursa scolded. Katara looked down meekly. Zuko elbowed his sister.
"She wanted to watch the rain." Ursa jumped at this. And at the crack of thunder that rolled across the bough of the ship. It reverberated around them all. Ursa chuckled and gestured to the black wall of night to the side.
"As you can see there isn't much to watch. We are nearing the side of the storm. The wind will blow itself out soon. You three shouldn't be up so late…but since it is a special occasion, I will allow it."
"Thank you Mother." Zuko said with a smile. Azula sniffed, she certainly didn't need permission. Zuko, Azula and Katara quickly pattered to the nearest window. They pressed their noses against the glass and stared out. There truly wasn't much to see. The stars were covered by the thick black clouds. The moonlight that broke through was weak. The oily dark waves would sometimes smash against the deck. A bit of water broke against the glass. The kid tiptoed back and forward. Not a single drop got in.
"Mai and Ty Lee will love this." Azula said with a grin. Katara smiled. Her bare toes wiggled in delight. She was so close to the ocean. She could almost feel it speaking to her. She sniffed, she could even smell the salt through the glass. A hand rested on her shoulder. Then a thick straw hat was deposited on her head.
She looked up at Ursa in surprise. The tall woman merely smiled down lovingly before patting her back.
"You look a little pink. Wear this tomorrow so that you don't get sun sick. You already got a summer sickness and worried your mother to shreds. Make sure not to do it again."
"Yes mistress." Katara said nodding. She wondered which mother Ursa meant….Herself or Kya.
"Oh! Look at the size of that one!" Zuko pointed at the dark wall of water that billowed out of the night. Ursa frowned and leaned forward. Her eyes widened and the royal shrieked.
The wave hit the side of the boat full force. It was a complete coincidence. The yacht had dipped down and slightly to one side, when the massive wave had slipped up and smashed against them. A one in a million shot.
Katara blinked in surprise. Ran was pouring down her face. The wail of the wind met the wail of a woman. Katara sat up, she was on the deck somehow. The yacht was tipping on it's side. Not dangerously, but still lilting in the water. A sharp pain cracked her back. She stood up on unsteady legs.
Someone was shouting at her in the yacht. She could see Ursa struggling to stand up, water streaming down her face, hair and make up ruined. Kya was holding onto the table, she shook her head. The two women looked woozy and unsure.
Katara glanced one way and then the other. Wondering just where Zuko and Azula had gotten off to. With wind and rain whipping her face, she curiously looked over the ailing.
Azula's hands were slipping. They were cold and wet and tiny and white with strain and slipping. Her eyes were wide and terrified. Blood was coming down her split lip. Her frantic eyes darted up at Katara.
"Save him!" Azula shouted. Her eyes darting towards the ocean. Katara leaned up on tiptoes. She saw Zuko. His head bobbed beneath the waves, hands waving. She whipped back to the now crying Azula.
"Save ZuZUUUUUUUU!" With that Azula's hands gave out and she plummeted into the liquid abyss. Katara was over the railing in a moment. She felt a finger roll down her leg as she jumped. She didn't see Kya's shrieking face as she fell. She didn't hear the two women shouting after her.
Katara could only see her friends. Falling into the hostile ocean.
Katara gasped when she hit the water. The salt sped up her nose. Her back hit the boat and then she was somewhere far away from it. Something scrambled against her. She wrapped her arms to it and kicked to the surface.
Katara and Azula coughed as they broke the water. It was dark as pitch and another wave slammed over them. They tumbled breathlessly in the water. Up was down and down was endless. They slammed together. Hands scrambling. Fingernails biting into the other. Not willing to let go. Too terrified of what was flinging them around like dolls.
Katara kicked, the riptide swirling around her throat. She found the surface. She saw the yacht far off. All the lights were on. Fire was being shot into the sky. They were already so far away. She pulled Azula closer to her. Zuko was swept past. His wide eyes caught hers. She reached out for him. But he was already gone. A wave towered above the two of them.
Azula coughed, water shoving down her throat. Katara took a deep breath and closed her eyes, preparing for another pummeling.
Who are you?
Katara's eyes snapped open, and instantly filled with tears. The salt was so irritating. She couldn't see anything.
Who are you?
That voice again. Soft, kind, calm. So calm. She actual felt calm just hearing it.
"I'm Katara." She tried to say. She coughed from her mouthful of water. She was up again. Bobbing at the surface. She spun around wildly. Where had that voice come from?
She saw Zuko again. He was so far. And he was thrashing. Wasting energy too quickly. He was going to drown if she didn't get over there soon.
That's a pretty name. Don't be afraid.
She was underwater. The voice was coming from underwater. And downwards, ever downwards.
"I'm going to die." She said in matter of factly. The water was flinging her around. Azula was either coughing of screaming.
But aren't you a water bender? I feel like you're a water bender.
"I can't bend this water! There's too much! It will kill us!" She shouted to the lightning striking the ocean.
Its not trying to kill you. Doesn't your mom ever push your shoulder, or usher you out of the room? It's just encouraging you along. Let it encourage you. There are waves, there is pull, there is tide, there is TUG. Let it tug you.
I…I feel it.
Katara closed her eyes. She was fighting against the ocean, but she was the ocean. She was a water bender. She had never been submerged entirely in water. The south pole was too cold. It was too dangerous. Frost bite and hypothermia would kill her in seconds. Some of the hearty men would swim in the ocean. But most people just weren't crazy enough to do that.
She had only been completely underwater since she entered the Fire Nation service. And now….Now she felt true water. Not from a bath, not from a shallow pond. From the ocean itself.
It felt like hands. Countless hands, pushing and pulling and yanking. She closed her eyes, she extended her hand, she kicked her legs. And she imaginged herself moving towards Zuko.
She burst to the surface. The rain coming down in sheets. But she wasn't blind. She could see through the rain. With a determined set to her jaw she gripped the water, spinning from one eddy to the next. Using rip tides and whirl pools to encourage her forwards.
She sensed Azula floundering beside her. Katara dove again her eyes streaming. She held Azula in front of her, and then took a water bending pose. She pictured a raft of ice beneath them.
And suddenly there it was. Katara swore she saw someone moving in the water beneath them. A pale blue skinned creature. With arrows on his hands and feet. He swum past her, staring up. In a moment he was beside the raft. The bucking, billowing ocean having no affect on him.
He watched her curiously. And then pressed upwards on the raft. His eyes were wide and white. And his face was young, playful, handsome. He brought the ice to the surface. When they broke it he was gone.
A hand burst from the water. Katara grabbed it and hauled a soaking wet, shivering wide eyed Zuko on.
"Hang on! Don't let go! Whatever happens don't let go!" Katara shouted into his face.
"Where's Mom? Where's the boat!" Zuko shouted back. The trio huddled, breath chilling. They were alone in the middle of the ocean. And the storm raged around them.
Kanna walked to the edge of the ice. She held the kudlik carefully in her arms. She never remembered feeling this sore. The cold had gotten into her joints this year. Her square jaw stiffened and she squatted.
She placed the ceremonial ivory oil lamp onto a flat rock. She took out a small leather flask. She poured the rendered black oil into the lip of the kudlik. The ceremony might have fallen out of fashion with some of the younger generation. But those who still honored the spirits and carried the old ways found ways.
"It's been a long time since I've done this Hama." She mumbled more to herself. She knew that her old friend was no longer with her. But still, it felt nice to talk to her now and again. Kanna knew that Hama would appreciate what she was doing. If only she had been here.
"You would have been miserable of the state of the tribe. But we are doing our best." Kanna said as she prepared the small private ceremony. She didn't have much time, the sun was starting to go down. And she smell the stink of rain on the horizon.
She reached into her parka and took out the taqqut and the fire stones. She cracked the rocks together until a nice spark started. She scooped the spark out of the air and cautiously put the red seed to the interior of the curved oblong dish.
She began to hum deep in her throat. She asked the spirits to watch over the harvest of the village. To keep intertribal relations friendly, and lacking that at least cordial. She asked for the war to be over soon so the men could come back. And the last thing she hummed for was Sokka. The silly silly boy.
She knew it was naieve. She knew hope was dangerous. She knew the crushing feeling of defeat. But her Hakoda was dead, her daughter in law and granddaughter gone to the belly of the beast, and now Sokka was adrift. Anyone who left the South Pole never returned. She was a practical woman and knew this. But still, she still had that nibbling feeling of hope inside of her.
She bowed to the ocean a few times. When she looked up a speck was on the bay. That speck slowly and confidently moved towards her. The speck slowly turned into a kayak, that was drifting into the bay. She stood up sharply. The boy paddling it was skin and bones. His lips were chapped, his nose running. He had a raw fish salamander skeleton sticking out of her mouth. He was gnawing it compulsively.
Sokka stood up in his kayak. Nearly overturning it entirely.
"Gran Gran!" He shouted. The kayak slammed into the bank. He jumped into the water. The ocean licking at his shins and knees. He stumbled. Eyes wide and bloodshot. He wiped at his eyes, tears were dribbling down quickly.
"Gran Gran!" He stumbled, fell, righted himself, and collapsed into her arms.
"Sokka! Oh! OH!" She wrapped her arms around him and squeezed. Her lips trembled, her shoulders hitched. The two cried. They held each other tightly and they sobbed. Sokka finally pulled away, his face was gaunt. His hair was in shambles. And he was smiling like a little lunatic.
"I…I had to…The spirit! That blue headed spirit! It had arrows for tattoos! It pushed my kayak. I thought I was imagining it. I had to be right? I was…I need water."
Sokka slumped and his Grandmother gripped him carefully beneath the armpits.
"You got lost in a blizzard. You got lost at sea. You adopted an earth kingdom girl. You found a white bear. You saw a spirit. My boy what sort of trouble will you get into next?" Kanna said shaking her head in absolute befuddlement.
Sokka grinned at her, then at his village walls.
"Home. I'm finally home. Back with my family. I missed you all so much." Sokka grinned. He was back in the bosom of his family. His tribe. His sister and mother were who knows were. But he was safe.
Review. Faster updates for this and other stories if this and other stories get more reviews. Would love to see art work of this or any of my other work. Faster reviews for my other less popular stories means that more updates at a faster pace. Or just more stories like this one.
Also any requests in reviews will probably be ignored.
Also just to be clear. I do not do pedophilia, all characters are aged up in this stuff or aged down depending on the character, no loli, no yaoi, no shota, I don't do watersports (Shit/Piss/fart fetish shit)I don't do stuff like vore or entire bodies getting shoved into places (Shrink play) I don't do blood play or torture (Ball/cock crushing etc) or certain old people, (Yes I am a fucking hypocrite) . Also if you ask for something in reviews that normally means I won't do it. So anyone who asks for that will be disappointed. If you have questions/requests/suggestions PM me instead.
Also have an ao3 account under the same name. and same titles.
