Chapter 77: Visiting Parents
On the way to Deika City
Green Devil: Hello, sir.
Big Brain: Hello, young Midroiya. Do you think you passed the test?
Green Devil: I do.
Big Brain: Excellent. You can now stop going to prison over illegal quirk usage. Plus, that's one less issue between me and the Commission.
Green Devil: Sir, have you seen the news? An escaped League member attacked Chitose-san!
Big Brain: I know. They continue to be a problem, even after the death of their mastermind.
Green Devil: I'm going to Deika City. I need to be sure she is fine.
Big Brain: Of course. In the meantime, I'm considering building a dormitory for hero students and their families. LOV is are likely to strike again, and we've already seen them kidnap a family member in the past. Until their threat is neutralized, we should take this precaution.
Green Devil: Is it really necessary? I could probably hire security using All Might's money.
Big Brain: I doubt private security could compare with UA's defense. It is on par with Tartarus, if I do say so myself. Besides, this isn't just for you. Maybe the villains will try petty revenge via abducting your friends' families. That is a risk to be avoided. Of course, we won't force anyone, but people without highly secure homes should consider this option.
Green Devil: Makes sense. I still recall the horror when Toga told me about my mom's kidnapping.
Pumpkin: Hi, mom.
Sunshine: Izuku! The League attacked that reporter lady! It's been on every news channel!
Pumpkin: I know. I need to go to Deika City and comfort her.
Sunshine: Alright. I hope she'll fine. She is kind of annoying but she didn't deserve that. I still remember THAT night.
Pumpkin: Don't worry, mom. No one will ever hurt you again, I guarantee it.
"Midori, she is fine. Didn't you read the latest report?"
"I did, but, I don't know. All I can think about is that the League is still running loose."
"They are a bunch of losers who got their asses handed to them twice. If they come to us, we'll be ready."
"Mid… *Sigh* Izuku, I find it strange that you are so concerned with her. I know that she helped with your reputation, but it seems to me that your relationship goes deeper than that."
"Shoto, I…"
Tooru leaned to whisper something in Todoroki's ear. There was a devious grin on her face.
"I see. Sorry, I won't bring up this topic again."
Izuku felt a hot hand on his shoulder.
"Deku." Katsuki was uncharacteristically calm. "At this point I won't be surprised if you had a bunch of STDs. Seriously, does your quirk work on sex or what?"
"Kacchan, we are teenagers." Izuku carefully removed his hand. "If anything, I'm surprised you haven't scored anyone yet."
Bakugo promptly shut up. Not because Midoriya was right, but because arguing with him would inevitably turn Horns into a headache.
After Deika City.
Green Devil: Sir, we have a problem
Big Brain: Chitose is going to die?
Green Devil: No, no that kind of a problem. She thinks LOV will try to get revenge on Himiko by attacking her in the prison. I was told to push for an early parole somehow so I can hide her in a safe place.
Big Brain: Interesting conclusion. I suppose Miss Toga could be taken under UA custody, given she obeys the rules. I can't think of a safer place than our lovely school.
Green Devil: Doesn't it require someone in our school to become her legal guardian?
Big Brain: Indeed. I'll ask the staff if anyone is willing to bite the bullet, but in the worst case I'll just do it myself.
Green Devil: Thank you.
Big Brain: I'll warn her prison about the potential attack. In the meantime, Eraserhead and Hawks will visit 1A parents and tell them about moving into UA grounds.
Green Devil: This will sound stupid and selfish, but would I still be able leave the campus to do you-know-what?
Big Brain: I was hoping that Yoshikage-san would get tired of this, but sure.
Green Devil: One more thing. Is it okay if I turn Chitose into a vampire? I imagine living without functioning legs would be difficult.
Big Brain: Have you tried looking into less extreme alternatives? Like an electric wheelchair or implants?
Green Devil: No, but I'll make sure I'll do it.
Big Brain: Splendid. If there is no better option, I'll leave the decision up to you. Just make sure she understands all the consequences.
The two heroes arrived to the Midoriya household while Izuku's company was still on the way. They were greeted by Inko, Melissa and Kuria.
"Hello." They bowed down after entering.
"He-Hello." Mama Midoriya awkwardly bowed in response.
"Hello, Mr Aizawa." Blonde waved at them.
"I am sure you are aware of the recent escape of the League?" Shota straightened his posture.
"Of course. Of course." Elder Hagakure sighed. "And their recent attack too."
"The UA is concerned about the safety of our hero students and their families. There is a high chance LOV will try to attack them out of spite. For this reason we offer the families to move into UA dorms that will finish construction shortly." Flying hero pulled of papers from a briefcase. "We understand that not everyone will agree to abandon their current housing, but…"
"No, no." Inko shook her head. "We get it. You are trying to keep us safe. There is nothing wrong with that."
"I agree. I couldn't even imagine having a villain invade the place where I live."
"What about me?" Shield raised her hand. "I'm not in a hero course yet."
Shota frowned at the last word but chose to ignore it for now.
"I don't see why principal wouldn't have an extra room for you, miss Shield." Keigo shrugged. "Who exactly is your legal guardian, by the way?"
"Oh, I technically don't have one. Dad is… unavailable, but Uncle Might set me up with Mr Nezu in case he…" She gulped. "I think I'll go back to my room for now."
The girl left with her head down while the women signed the agreements after reading it.
"If no one has problems, then we'll go to the next house." Aizawa turned to leave.
"Wait? You are not even going to stay for tea?" Midoriya tried to grab him by the shoulder.
"Sorry, we really need to go. I'm sure we can have tea parties after this whole mess is over. I heard Yaoyorozus make excellent tea." Takami joked.
Next was Bakugo household. Both teachers mentally prepared for loud and obnoxious screams. To their surprise, Katsuki's parents were quiet and composed.
"Will this get in the way of our work? We have to visit various places after all." Mitsuki asked.
"It would be preferably if you tried working on UA grounds, but we can arrange it in a way that lets you come in and out. Villain attacks are less likely to occur during daytime."
"That much is true." Masaru fixed his glasses. "They have to have at least some level of common sense."
"Hopefully, they'll get caught soon."
Yaoyorozu mansion made Hawks whistle at just how luxurious it looked. Momo met them at the entrance gate. The Keigo really wanted to comment on how much he envies his student. The parents in question were drinking tea in peace. They were prime examples of elegance and grace. The teachers had to sit down at the hosts' insistence. Eraserhead was never a fan of coffee. He preferred whiskey, coffee and blood.
"UA is offering you to move to their dorms until the situation with the League of Villains is resolved."
"We appreciate this gesture, but I believe that our estate is secure enough to deter those vile individuals from invading this place. We even hired some heroes to exclusively guard the neighborhood around our mansion."
"Why couldn't I be adopted by you instead?" Hawks thought to himself.
"Well, if you change your minds, make sure to contact us."
Kyoka's parents were easy enough to convince. Her dad tried to play tough but it turns out the entire family are big fans of Hawks. The hero in question happily signed their instruments in exchange for them singing a piece of paper. He even listened to a musical number performed by them, much to Eraserhead's dismay. The girl was beaming after showing her talents to the Number Two Hero.
Tokoyami household turned out quite superstitious. Takami couldn't help but notice a newspaper where number 4 crossed, a comb that's been held together by a tape and a pair of scissors peeking from under a pillow. The parents had the same bird heads as their son, although their arms also were more avian than human.
"Greetings. Hawks, Eraserhead." The father bowed. "You have come here to warn us about evil coming at our doorstep, correct? We have discussed this question and concluded that it is better to move to a safer haven. The UA grounds seem sufficient for the moment."
"How did you know about that? Did Nezu or Fumikage warn you?" Keigo's interest was piqued.
"No. The fate revealed itself to us this morning." The mother pointed a deck of tarot cards.
"Does your quirk have something to do with future sight?"
"Negative. My quirk lets me reshape my shadow. Take a look."
The man's shadow morphed to mimic the flying hero.
"My quirk makes me stronger when there is little illumination around."
"Okay." The teacher got confused by the whole ordeal. "Here are the papers."
The bird headed man barely got visibly angry after seeing the cursed number in the document. Still, he knew it had to be signed.
"Takami-san." The mother wanted inquire. "Would you like to discuss the shackles placed on you?"
"Shackles?" Aizawa raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry, we have to go now." Takami grabbed his colleague by the arm. "Goodbye."
Mina's parents were in the middle of an intense fitness session. They didn't stop it even when discussing their safety in dorms. Eraserhead wanted to dip out as soon as possible because of the energetic music playing in the house. He'd much rather deal with creepy fortune tellers than lively sportsmen. The thought of seeing them on UA grounds terrified him.
Frog heteromophs were hesitant at first, but pleads from Tsuyu's younger siblings convinced them to agree. They also asked heroes for autographs, and Hawks had to force Eraserhead to make one. The children were glad that they could see heroes first hand.
Iidas parents refused to move with the same arguments as Yaoyorozus. Their security has increased significantly after Tensei's demise. On the other hand, They had no problems letting their younger son stay at the school.
Natsuo was more than happy to get his family away from "The League" while Endeavor was too busy with work to interfere. Keigo tried arguing that Enji can't be that bad, but Shota quickly made him shut his mouth. Fuyumi was completely against breaking the family apart, Shoto insisted that he needs more training and Rei just went along the majority. In the end, the eldest Todoroki child had to suck it up.
Shoujis actually lived far away from the city and were apparently helping their son rent an apartment. Teachers had to call them instead. The heteromorphs claimed that the village community would protect them or anyone else from invaders. Aizawa pointed out that relying on people with no formal training against experienced villains was highly illogical, but it didn't seem to convince them. Even Mezou himself was convinced that his mutant brethren were capable of protecting his family. Takami changed strategies and asked Momo to order his boyfriend and his parents by proxy.
Uraraka's family said they were too busy doing business on the other side of the country, and they couldn't go back on already established contracts. Even Izuku and Ochako herself weren't able to make them change their minds.
"That was the last of them. Hopefully, Taishiro an Sekijiro have finished going through 1B. Say, how about we hit karaoke before going home?"
"Just because I tolerate Hizashi doesn't mean I like loud music."
LOV hideout.
"God fucking damn it! How the hell did he die so easily!?" Shigaraki decayed a glass in his hand.
"Apparently the miss Chitose's quirk could explode things. I suppose Spinner didn't know the trigger and let it happen." Sako played with this marbles. "At least his efforts weren't completely null."
"I feel bad for poor Gecko. The weakling should have listened to me!"
"That's it. No more playing solo! Compress, we are going to steal some things for the next quest. Twice, make two copies of each of us."
"Alright. Screw you!"
