CHAPTER 8

Twilight worked her way back onto her talons before that wretched guard spoke to her in his nasty voice. "I'm sorry to betray your trust, but if King Rubble checks in on me and I say that I let the two most wanted dragons on the continent walk away from me, I'd be killed for treason against the Stone Kingdom, it's like I said outside, the king and queen have both agreed to King Frost's plans to imprison the PearlWings. They ordered me to detain you until somebody comes along to take you back to the mountain," he explained. "And it continues to work in my favor because the moment you were knocked unconscious; Prince Snowblade rushed to your side; I didn't even have to touch him to get him into the cage with you."

For some reason, she couldn't stay mad at him anymore, not when he reached to pick up an item on the table beside him. "I forgive you; you did what you had to," she blurted. No, she shouldn't be saying things like that- But she should, he was so handsome, no other dragon on the planet could ever rival his looks; the way his perfect tail curved to the side, his exceptional jaw set at just the right position, his beautiful emerald claws flexing in front of him. He brandished an amulet just for her, as if he were going to give it to her as a Hatching Day present, the question was; where did she recognize it from?

The StoneWing prince let out a lovely chuckle. "Aw, I've never been able to see this one in action before, it works wonders from what I can see and hear," he commented on the amulet. Twilight turned to look behind her, she had forgotten that the BlizzardWing prince was still there, he was gaping at her, his mouth opened so wide, he looked very confused.

Emerald strutted closer to Twilight; she could hear his angelic talon steps as he neared closer to her; once again brandishing the amulet, but closer this time so she could see it better.

"Do you like it?" he asked her. "It's one of ten Moony Amulets. This one in particular works on PearlWings, it makes any affected dragons completely fall snout-over-claws for the wielder, like the name suggests. We took it in our raid of the PearlWing mountain if you're wondering."

Emerald didn't seem to be looking at Twilight when he explained that; he was looking at the BlizzardWing prince. "THAT'S NOT FAIR! LET HER THINK FOR HERSELF!" the prince roared.

Emerald let out a snort. "I'd argue that she is thinking for herself, but, to your credit, I will have to set it down when the two of you speak to the king and queen of the StoneWings," he said. The BlizzardWing did not make any sense, her thoughts were perfectly clear, nobody was thinking for her, she didn't even think that was possible.

Twilight reached for the gorgeous StoneWing; and he leaned into her talons; his scales felt absolutely wonderful under her touch, they were so smooth, it felt like she was touching the fabric of the heavens.

Emerald smiled, pointed at Twilight and said: "I'm not making her do that, she's doing it all on her own." After he said that; he removed the amulet from around his neck and placed it on the horizontal bar in front of Snowblade and then walked back to where he was sitting previously and went to sleep.

Twilight gazed at that manipulative StoneWing for a while before she heard Snowblade sleepily say: "Maybe it's best that we also get some rest too before we have more visitors." She turned to look at Snowblade; who'd already found himself lying down in a corner; lifting his left wing to invite her to sleep under his wing, to which she accepted; she walked over to Snowblade and leaned against his cool body, sleep found her very quickly.

While she slept, she dreamt of the world's worst villains rising from their graves, she did not know these dragons, but she had a feeling that she would eventually.

Twilight was still surrounded by the familiar cool sensation of Snowblade when she woke, but she was being poked by a metal stick, which encouraged her to get onto her talons.

She turned to her left; and she saw King Rubble and Queen Boulder sitting regally a short distance from the bars that kept Twilight and Snowblade captive. Prince Emerald sitting awkwardly nearby.

The prince spoke first. "The prisoners were promised an audience with the king and queen of the StoneWings," he explained.

"Is there a reason that you thought it was a good idea to barge in on your enemies... PearlWing?" Queen Boulder spat, that last word was said like it was a disease.

Twilight stayed silent for a moment; she didn't think it was such a good idea to speak right now; not when it sounded like there was more to the question. "Well?" the queen boomed.

Snowblade stepped in front of her to answer. "She thought that we could try our chances here; since your faces are unreadable enough that you may help a PearlWing try to escape a horrible fate!" he exclaimed.

Snowblade was only trying to help, but he wasn't going about it in a very helpful way. "Then we are all lucky that we have somebody flying this way to escort the PearlWing back to her mountain... Is it not? Queen Current should be arriving at the gates at any moment," Queen Boulder explained. "Which reminds me-" she turned to Prince Emerald, "Go welcome the WindWing queen or you may join the prisoners Emerald... and remember; the PearlWing Moony Amulet is not the only one in our possession."

Prince Emerald rolled his eyes at his sister, but he still obeyed her order and marched up the stairs and toward the gates.

King Rubble looked tired; he must have been up late doing something for The Council or something, Twilight knew this because he was the next to leave the dungeon.

And finally, after too long of silence; Twilight spoke. "I'm assuming that you meant that you were going to use the StoneWing Moony Amulet on your brother?" she said, to which Queen Boulder nodded.

Soon, Twilight heard talon steps, two- no, three sets of talon steps, the WindWings must have arrived and are heading towards her and Snowblade, she would have to think very fast to get out of the cage and the clutches of the WindWings.

"-Good, so we can finally get on with being rid of the PearlWings permanently," she heard Queen Current say. Twilight saw two WindWings and one StoneWing enter the dungeon; Emerald had shown them the way, and Queen Current was right behind him, along with King Geyser.

"Hello Twilight, it's good to see you again, you're one hard dragon to catch; running from the mountain, hiding in Viper, running from King Frost, and finally getting yourself caught by the StoneWings... Nice job," she said.

"I try to please," Twilight snorted.

Queen Boulder gestured for Emerald to unlock the cage, and now that she finally looked; it seemed to be laced with a black rock of some sort.

Once the cage was unlocked, Twilight could use her animus magic to get herself and Snowblade away. She gingerly walked out and made eye contact with Queen Current. She dug her claws into the grooves in the ground and made her spell. Make an explosion that affects everybody but me. And with that, black and grey became red and orange, heat surrounded her, she ran, she had made her explosion, and now she could get away, she ran up the stairs and to the gate and started flying, she didn't care where she ended up, all she knew was that she wasn't going toward the Blizzard Kingdom or the PearlWing mountain.

It didn't take long for the WindWings to catch up to her, Twilight had been flying for moons know how long, and when she looked behind her, the two royal WindWings were flying toward her, they had burn marks across their bodies, and King Geyser shot a bullet of fire at her.

The fire had hit her wing, and with a scream, she plummeted out of the sky in into the cold ocean below, it was over, Twilight would be carried back to the PearlWing mountain and she'd die there, she would never see Snowblade again, she had failed to escape her fate.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: WE FINALLY DID IT! PART 1 IS OVER! LET'S GOOOOO! Part 1's ending has always been the same; Twilight crashes into the cold dark ocean and meets... somebody, but getting there was always the challenge, if you're reading this, congratulations, you've made it to approximately the quarter way point, unfortunately, things will be slowing down for Twilight, I plan on making another conversation with Eclipse... You're probably wondering what the hell happened with the Moony Amulets, well, IDK, I thought it'd be funny, but now it's going to be a gateway for a history lesson on the first continent. If you're a Wings of Fire reader; you've probably noticed the similarities between the primordial tribes and the Pyrrhian tribes, well, there's a reason for this, I won't explain it just yet, so I'm planning on talking about the absence of two tribes first, remember The Legend of the Hive? Yeah, those tribes.

Ooh, this is a long note huh? LOL If you made it this far, well, you deserve some knowledge on what I plan on doing for Twilight in the future. There will be six installments to this series, it will have the same structure as a regular Wings of Fire arc; 5 books, and a Legends, I've already figured out all the protagonists and names, so yeah, take that, and at the time of writing this, I'm working on another Winglet, it's already longer than Lost.

I get the feeling that you're bored of listening to me ramble on and on, so I'll just say a few more things and you can be on your merry way. Back on the topic of Twilight's adventures, something is in that ocean, don't believe me? Go back and reread the dragon guide. You might've noticed that I am mentioning the events of Pyrrhia, I will NOT deviate from the canon of Wings of Fire universe, but keep in mind that this is coming out before book 16, so if that comes out and ruins my continuity, there will obviously be deviations. Remember how the dragon guide mentioned that the PearlWings are the source of animus magic?, that might be a little important in the future.

GAH! TOO MANY WORDS AND PARAGRAPHS! I NEED TO END THIS! RAHHHHHH!

Announcement reminder: OK, so here's the gist, there will be something called the TPL Special in which there will be credits for fan characters, fun facts and a Q&A between you (the readers, and me. (The author.) So, if you'd like, leave a review, private message me or join the Discord server to ask me your (probably inevitable) questions. (Link in my profile.)
