A/N: Here we are, the first reapings. I understand if you skip this chapter as most of it will be names, either previous Victors (I have named all previous Victors of each District), or the names of the tributes.

Obviously, with 1152 tributes, I will be ignoring the vast majority of them. Most of the tributes introduced in this chapter will die soon, so I will only flesh out a few select tributes over the next few chapters.

In the meantime, enjoy

Chapter Three: The first reapings

(District Six v District 13)

POV: Werntius Grilopae, 43

Escort for District Six

I watched the screen as the 17-year-old Sirius Tristan was called out to represent District 6 in the Six-Hundredth Annual Hunger Games. The twist for that year was that the living Victors of each District selected their tributes. There were three Victors from District Six alive; Kimi Klasson, Victor of the 546th Hunger Games, Milah Kagan, Victor of the 572nd Hunger Games, and Zurich Flaston, Victor of the 596th Hunger Games. The three Victors had sat down together and selected Sirius for the male, and a 14-year-old called Namibia Ranford. In an interview that was conducted on the reaping stage, Zurich said that the Victors chose Sirius as he was one of the strongest people at the District Six academy, and could probably be the Victor, while they chose Namibia for being the daughter of one of the three remaining drug lords in the District. By that time, there was very little drug abuse in Six, most people focused on trying to get into the academy with a sponsorship by being the best. Sirius ended up joining the career pack that year, which was made up of the duo from Districts One, Two and Four, Sirius, Pine from District Twelve, Owain and Gwynedd from District Nineteen and Maria Antonio Herrera from District Twenty-Four.

These eleven tributes killed twenty tributes in the Bloodbath, with Sirius claiming three kills himself. Glamour from One died in the Bloodbath, and her District partner, Luxor, ended up dying to the famous and loved winged jaguar mutts on Day 2. The games that year were in a large crystalline cave system, full of towers of sapphires, diamonds, emeralds and lapis. Sirius killed two more tributes before the pack broke in the final ten. Namibia was killed by Maria, leaving her in tenth place, before being killed by Haddock. Sirius then went on to kill Pine and the girl from District Twenty, before facing Haddock and Dory from Four in the final. He managed to trip Dory of the topaz tower they were fighting on, killing her, and then speared Haddock through the neck, winning the games. Sirius won the games with nine kills, the most of any tribute from his District ever. He would then go on to live for many years, dying just before the reaping of the 673rd Hunger Games.

I turned around, and walked up to the side of the stage, ready for my final reaping. I was planning on quitting after last year, I had been offered a wonderful job in the games group as a statistics analyst, but then I heard the twist, I decided to do this final year. I thought it would be unfair on the next escort to have to manage forty-eight tributes for their first year. I expected a few volunteers, but not that many. District Six was considered a Delta-Career District, along with Districts Eight, Thirteen, Eighteen, Twenty-One and Twenty-Three. These six Districts provided the least careers, but still had a few surprises. The three living Victors; Eugene Kalsa, Victor of the 957th Annual Hunger Games, Santiago Basquet, Victor of the 974th Annual Hunger Games and Swansea Holfranlong, Victor of the 993rd Annual Hunger Games. Chevy Joiner, Victor of the 926th Annual Hunger Games had died only seven months ago, just before the 999th Annual Hunger Games, The head Peacekeeper, Thaddeus Carrow, signalled me to come onto the stage.

I walked onto the stage, and waved at the audience. "Hello District Six! Welcome to the reaping of the One-Thousandth Hunger Games, the Fortieth Quarter Quell!" I called. There was a small cheer. I knew that I would not get better from my previous twelve years of being escort. I took a deep breath, and continued. "First, we have a video from the Capitol." I played the same video that had been played at the reaping for the past five-hundred years. It talked about the glory of the Capitol, the Dark Days, the Hunger Games, the Second Rebellion of 110, the securing of the 11 Districts, and the reshuffling of Panem in the year 500. I could tell few people truly paid attention and, to be honest, I barley did either. It was the same old stuff, year on year. They really should switch it up each year.

"Now then, as per tradition, I will read the names of the previous forty-six Victors of District Six!" I said. This part always took a while, but not as long as Districts One, Two and Four. They all had so many. I took out the list from my pocket, and started reading out the names.

"Illinois Katrick, Victor of the 1st Annual Hunger Games"

"Swansea Holfranlong, Victor of the 993rd Annual Hunger Games"

I took a quick drink, while the rest of the District either looked at me, or at the three Victors on the stage. I then looked at both the reaping balls, finally realising the number of tributes that will die this year. It was insane, I loved it.

"OK, now for the actual reaping. We will do this in girl, boy, girl, boy order and so on." I announced. I walked over to the girls reaping bowl. "Chelsea Gripolik!" A 17-year-old walked up to the stage, breathing deeply.

I walked to the male reaping bowl. "Res-" I started "I volunteer as tribute!" came a voice. A well-muscled 18-year-old ran up to the stage. "Buster Slosser" he replied when I asked his name.

"Cowl Shappo!" A 16-year-old swore loudly, before she climbed up to the stage.

"Rivet Evangeline!" A 14-year-old walked to the stage, breathing deeply. I could hear crying coming from the girl's section.

"Molly Hartzog!" A 16-year-old waddled out of the girl's area, obviously about nine-months pregnant. "I volunteer as tribute!" Molly sighed in relief, and went back to her place, as a strong looking girl walked out of the 18-year-olds section. "Axelle Hartzog, Molly is my younger sister," she said.

"Crystaler Monts!" A 17-year-old boy came to the stage.

"Valsa Cates!" A 11-year-old girl with short spikey hair ran to the stage, the youngest ever tribute in the Hunger Games so far. She was crying like mad, as she was not even 12 yet.

"Azalea Torrac!" A 15-year-old stumbled up to the stage, obviously high on morphling.

"Ariel Dupioni!" An 18-year-old girl stumbled to the stage.

"Keith Harold!" An 18-year-old ran to the stage, and high-fived Saturn. "We make a great team together. I was just about to volunteer," he said.

"Dasher Fran!" A 12-year-old, with sallow, yellow skin, walked sluggishly to the stage.

"Bonnet D'Ambrose!" A 13-year-old ran to the stage.

"Uil-" I started, "I volunteer as tribute!" A strong boy came out of the 15-year-old section. "Jacobi Inlobe, career tribute," said the boy.

"Kentucky Basquet!" A 15-year-old ran to the stage, her muscles rippling. Behind me, I heard Santiago gasp, as this was obviously his daughter. Only one more tribute.

"And finally, Tank Leyce!" Another 15-year-old boy walked up to the stage, breathing deeply.

All forty-eight tributes had been reaped, and the rest of the children breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that they were safe for another year. "Congratulations to our tributes; Chelsea, Buster, Mercedes, Railson, Severa, Chevy, Cowl, Rivet, Axelle, Crystaler, Valsa, Lincon, Nuvi, Chassis, Mitt, Cylinder, Madeline, Slanten, Porche, Texas, Lexi, Charlie, Guega, Arizona, Izzy, Ryder, Zoey, Bentley, Colma, Nelson, Azalea, Jason, Damla, Ford, Mandrai, Apollo, Raven, Saturn, Holly, Paxton, Ariel, Keith, Maddison, Dasher, Bonnet, Jacobi, Kentucky and Tank!" I listed, having to check the slips of paper more than once. All forty-eight tributes turned around, and were led into the justice building, Where they would get one hour to say goodbye to their family, before being sent to the Capitol for the Hunger Games.

POV: Phaedra Huwtrop, 26

Escort for District Thirteen

I was sitting. While my stylist was fixing my hair under my bright pink wig. Grey and pink, the two colours of Districts 6 and 13, were all the rage in the Capitol at the moment. Each District had their own colour to represent them, from scarlet of District 1, to tan for District 24. I was watching the latest District 13 Victor, Niler Osk; Victor of the 972nd Annual Hunger Games. The reapings went quite normally, with only the male from District 16, Veston Jones, creating a scene by falling to the ground screaming when he was reaped. That year, there were sixteen careers that year. Districts 1, 2, 4, 7, 11, 19 and 20 suppling two careers each, and the District 9 male and District 16 female joining the pack as well. Niler teamed up with the District 5 pair, Miles and Summer, the District 8 male, Tag, the District 15 female, Robyn, and the District 24 pair, Tyson and Elaina. These seven tributes formed a small anti-career pack.

These twenty-three tributes all scored eighteen or higher (After the country being reshuffled after the 500th Hunger Games, the scoring system was increased to range from one to twenty-four). The interviews all went well as well. All forty-eight tributes were lifted into the arena, and were placed in a rundown mall, with lots of shops, and food courts all destroyed. The bloodbath went ahead, where twenty-seven tributes died, including the pairs from 1 and 20, along with the 9 male and Tag from 8. Niler led his alliance through the mall, eventually they settled in a clothes shop. Only twenty people survived the first day, with a further seven dying on Day two. The Head Gamemaker that year said he loved short bloody games, and he got that with the 972nd games. By the end of day three, both the careers pack and anti-careers had gone hunting several times, and the tribute count was down to eight, which was knocked down to four after mannequin mutts were released on the morning of day four. The Head Gamemaker sent more mannequin mutts after the four remaining tributes; the One boy, Luxor, Niler, the Nineteen girl, Eamer, and Tyson. The mutts killed Tyson, leaving Niler to fight two careers alone. As he ran into the Cornucopia, situated in the main food court, Niler threw one of his two hatchets at Luxor, killing him. The fight between Eamer and Niler lasted an entire hour, but eventually, Niler disarmed the career girl, and severed her head. Niler was lifted out of the arena, alive and becoming the thirty-ninth Victor of District Thirteen.

A stood up, and headed to the stage. Niler was on the stage with the only other living District 13 Victor, Winter Sawpit, Victor of the 942nd Annual Hunger Games, sitting beside him. They were talking to the Head Peacekeeper and the mayor. They Mayor waved me on, and I traduced me as this was my first year. I walked up to the microphone, and di the usual. I welcomed the District to the reaping of the One-Thousandth-Annual-Hunger-Games. I then played the patriotic information disk that detailed why we need these Hunger Games to keep the peace in the country. "I will now list the thirty-nine previous Victors of District Thirteen"

I took a deep breath, and looked back at Winter, now aged seventy-three, Niler, now aged forty-four, the Head Peacekeeper and the mayor for reassurance. I took a second deep breath, then started again. "So now, I will reap the tributes who will have the honour of representing District Thirteen in the One-Thousandth Annual Hunger Games, the Fortieth Quarter Quell. Fist, we will a girl, then a boy, then a girl, then a boy and so on. The first tribute is…" I walked over to the female reaping bowl, and drew a name. "Sophia Huwgan!" A 17-year-old walked up to the stage, in a daze.

I picked the first male name, "Graphite Gronmack!" A 15-year-old walked up to the stage slowly.

The second female, "Queenie Silver!" A strong 16-year-old sprinted to the stage.

The second male, "Ernie Koplonkitana!" A 15-year-old boy walked to the stage.

"Nuclear Dronestop!" A 17-year-old sprinted to the stage, laughing. "The academy told me not to volunteer because I am 'troubled' according to them," he commented. I quickly glanced at Winter, and saw he had winced when Nuclear said that.

"Delia Westshack!" A 16-year-old girl walked to the stage.

"Luke Glowfree!" A 12-year-old was dragged to the stage by two Peacekeepers.

"And the final male tribute is, Hadrian Westlove!" A 18-year-old walked to the stage, staring coldly ahead.

"Congratulations to Sophia, Graphite, Queenie, Ernie, Celestina, Mike, Kessie, Birdie, Willa, David, Poilkam, Miles, Laurel, Harlow, Ember, Toni, Clara, Nuclear, Delia, Luke, Pauline, Callisto, Bellamy, Elijah, Trinity, Philip, Ivy, Lupus, Taliah, Victor, Alma, Fission, Waverley, Ezra, Namora, Percy, Emily, Lucian, Ximop, Hugo, Julia, Martin, Cathrine, Easton, Terra, Remus, Polly, and Hadrian on being the forty-eight tributes to represent District Thirteen in the One-Thousandth Annual Hunger Games, The Fortieth Quarter Quell!" I shouted. There was a smattering of applause as all the tributes turned, and headed into the justice building, with Pauline, the 11-year-old, having to be dragged by Laurel, Ember and Willa.

I took a deep breath, knowing that most of them will die before round two starts. I hope some of them survive until the final. Think of all the parties I could attended then!

What did you guys think? Who do you think will die, and who will survive the first round? Do you think the eventual Victor has been reaped already, or will all of these tributes die.

I will say that I will be repeating the same 'tribute goes up to the stage' a lot. Most of the time, theynwill be nothing special. That means, the ones I describe a little more have more of a chance of surviving round one, just a little hint into who will be living to fight in round two against the next crop of tributes.

All Hunger Games in round one will follow the same format;

Chap 1: Reapings

Chap 2: Goodbyes and train ride/hovercraft ride

Chap 3: Arriving in Capitol and chariot rides

Chap 4: Training and private sessions

Chap 5: Scores announced and interviews

Chap 6: Bloodbath
