I keep rewriting this chapter and the next one. They may be edited in the future. Chapter 3 was updated if you have not seen.
The morning sun poured into the hallways of Beacon Academy, casting warm rays of light that danced across the polished floors. The air was crisp with the promise of a new day, and the academy's usual hum of activity had not yet begun. Team RWBY walked through the quiet corridors, their steps softened by a mix of early morning calm and curiosity.
Ruby Rose, the youngest of the group, was at the helm, her usual boundless energy tempered—though only slightly—by the tranquil atmosphere. She grinned, glancing back at her teammates. "Alright, team! Time to make sure Gohan's ready for class!" she declared, her voice bright but hushed.
Yang Xiao Long raised an eyebrow, her golden hair shimmering as it caught the morning light. "You sure he's not already up and doing one-armed pushups or something? The guy's a machine."
Weiss Schnee, ever poised and proper, crossed her arms. "Even if he is, it doesn't hurt to check. We can't have him making us late."
Blake Belladonna, silent as always, walked slightly behind the others, her eyes thoughtful. She hadn't yet formed a complete picture of Gohan, but something about him felt... off. Not in a threatening way, but in a way that made her instincts tingle.
Reaching Gohan's door, Ruby knocked lightly, her knuckles tapping out a friendly rhythm. "Gohan! You awake?" she called softly. No answer. She tried again, but the silence remained. Sharing a glance with her team, Ruby shrugged and turned the handle.
The door creaked open to reveal Gohan mid-motion, his shirt halfway over his head. The girls froze in unison, their collective surprise painted across their faces. Gohan, equally startled, pulled the shirt the rest of the way down and turned toward them, his expression wide-eyed and sheepish.
"Uh... good morning?" he offered awkwardly, his tone as apologetic as his grin.
But their eyes weren't on his face. The sight that had truly stopped them in their tracks was the scar—a brutal, jagged line stretching diagonally across his left shoulder and down toward his chest. It wasn't just a scar; it was a story, etched deep into his skin, one of survival against insurmountable odds. The silence stretched, heavy with unspoken questions.
Ruby's silver eyes widened, her usual bubbly demeanor dimming as she took in the sight. "Oh wow…" she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "Gohan, what happened?"
Yang, who rarely found herself at a loss for words, stepped into the room slowly, her usual confident swagger replaced with quiet amazement. "That's… intense," she said softly, her violet eyes locked on the scar.
Weiss and Blake entered next, each reacting in their own way. Weiss's icy blue gaze narrowed, her sharp mind already trying to piece together the puzzle. "That's not… normal," she said, almost to herself. "What could have caused something like that?"
Blake, ever observant, said nothing at first, though her eyes lingered on the scar with an intensity that spoke volumes.
For his part, Gohan rubbed the back of his neck, a nervous chuckle escaping him. "Oh, this?" He gestured to the scar, his tone light, though it didn't quite mask the weight of his words. "It's nothing, really. I took a heavy blow while saving the life of one of my father's friends. Honestly…" He paused, his eyes briefly flickering with something unreadable. "I'm kind of surprised it hasn't healed completely. Scars aren't really… normal for me. It's odd, I guess."
That admission lingered, sparking confusion and curiosity in his audience.
"Not… normal?" Weiss echoed, her sharp intellect instantly latching onto the peculiar phrasing. "What do you mean by that?"
Ruby tilted her head, her expression a mix of concern and fascination. "Wait, so… you don't usually get scars? Even from, like, big injuries?"
Yang raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "You're telling me you heal from stuff like that without leaving a mark? That's not just odd—that's insane." She gestured at the jagged line on his shoulder for emphasis.
Blake, who had been silently observing, took a subtle step closer, her golden eyes narrowing as her tail flicked behind her. "Healing that fast isn't normal, not even for Faunus," she said quietly, her voice laced with suspicion. "And you're clearly not just a regular human. So, what are you?"
Gohan stiffened, realizing he'd said too much. "Uh…" He searched for an answer, quickly piecing together something that wouldn't give away the truth. "I mean, uh… it's a family thing. We, uh, recover quickly. Usually, anyway."
The explanation didn't seem to satisfy anyone. Ruby's brows furrowed, Yang crossed her arms skeptically, Weiss scrutinized him as though trying to solve a puzzle, and Blake's sharp gaze cut through his words like a blade.
"Well, your 'family thing' must be pretty impressive," Weiss said finally, her tone skeptical. "But if scars are unusual for you, then whatever caused this must have been extraordinary."
"Extraordinary doesn't even begin to describe Ce... it," Gohan muttered before catching himself. "Uh, but like I said, it's in the past. Nothing to worry about now."
Yang smirked faintly, though there was a rare softness in her gaze. "You keep saying that, but you're not exactly selling the whole 'nothing to worry about' thing, Gohan. Scars like that? They come with a story."
Ruby took a hesitant step forward, her concern evident in the way her silver eyes softened. "Whatever happened… you don't have to deal with it alone, okay? We're your friends." Her words were earnest, carrying a sincerity that cut through the awkwardness of the moment.
Weiss let out a small sigh, her expression carefully composed but tinged with reluctant acceptance. "If you insist it's in the past, we'll respect that," she said, her tone even. "But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious about what really happened."
Ruby opened her mouth to protest, clearly wanting to push further, but Weiss raised a hand, silencing her with a pointed look. "No," Weiss said firmly, her voice brooking no argument. "He's not ready to talk about it, and we need to respect his boundaries."
Ruby's lips pressed into a pout, but she nodded reluctantly. "Fine," she said softly, glancing back at Gohan with lingering concern.
Yang crossed her arms, her gaze flicking between Gohan and her teammates. "Alright," she said, her tone lighter but still serious. "But if you ever feel like sharing, you know where to find us. Just don't keep everything bottled up. That's not healthy."
Gohan offered them a small, grateful smile. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. Really."
As Weiss turned on her heel, signaling it was time to leave, Blake lingered for a moment longer as she studied Gohan carefully, a flicker of understanding crossing her face. "Sometimes, the past doesn't stay buried as easily as we'd like," she said quietly. "Just… don't let it weigh you down."
With that, Blake followed the others, leaving Gohan alone in the quiet room. The door clicked shut, and the stillness settled around him like a heavy blanket. He exhaled slowly, a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, and reached up to place a hand on his shoulder, fingers brushing the jagged scar.
The familiar ache of old memories stirred within him. His mind wandered, unbidden, back to moments he often tried to bury: the chaos, the desperation, and—most vividly—his father's final moments.
Why did this scar remain? All the battles, all the injuries that had vanished without a trace… but not this one. This one lingered, etched into his skin as if refusing to let him forget.
He could still see Goku in his mind's eye—calm, resolute, smiling even in the face of certain death. "Take care of everyone, Gohan. You'll be fine. I believe in you." The words echoed in his memory, bringing with them a wave of conflicting emotions. Pride, sorrow, guilt, and determination tangled together in his chest.
Gohan's fingers tightened over the scar as he let out another slow breath, grounding himself. He couldn't change the past, no matter how much he questioned it. But the scar… it was more than just a mark. It was a reminder of everything his father had sacrificed, of the burden Gohan now carried in his absence.
"Why this one?" he thought, his brows furrowing. Why didn't it heal like the others? What makes it different? He didn't have an answer, but deep down, he suspected it wasn't just about the physical wound. Some scars were tied to the soul, too deeply entwined with loss and sacrifice to ever fully fade.
The group moved through the sunlit halls of Beacon, their footsteps echoing softly in the early morning calm. Ruby and Yang led the way, their vibrant personalities contrasting sharply—Ruby's bubbling excitement tempered by lingering concern, and Yang's playful energy brimming with teasing potential. Weiss and Blake followed in the middle, their quiet conversation laced with curiosity, while Gohan brought up the rear, his thoughtful gaze drifting between his teammates and the path ahead.
As they walked, Weiss leaned slightly toward Blake, lowering her voice to a near whisper. "It would have to be a battle scar, right?" she murmured, her icy blue eyes flicking briefly over her shoulder toward Gohan. "Not from Grimm… but someone. Someone gave it to him."
Blake's ears twitched slightly at the comment, her expression calm but thoughtful. "He said he got it saving someone's life," she replied softly, her golden eyes glancing back toward Gohan. "But scars like that… they don't happen unless the fight was brutal."
Weiss's brows furrowed as she considered Blake's words. "And whoever he was fighting," she murmured, "they weren't holding back. That wasn't a simple injury—it was meant to kill."
Blake nodded faintly. "It makes you wonder about the kind of enemies he's faced," she said, her voice tinged with curiosity. "Who or what could push him to the brink like that?"
Weiss's gaze lingered on Gohan for a moment, her usual sharpness softening into something closer to sympathy. "And yet, he talks about it like it's nothing," she said, almost to herself. "As if nearly dying is just… another day for him."
Blake glanced at Weiss, her expression unreadable. "Maybe it was," she said quietly, the weight of her words hanging in the air. "For someone like him, maybe that's just how things were."
Weiss fell silent, her thoughts turning inward as she tried to piece together the puzzle that was Gohan. Behind them, Gohan's sharp senses easily caught snippets of their conversation, though he kept his expression neutral. He'd grown used to hiding his emotions, but Weiss's and Blake's words struck a chord. They're not wrong, he admitted to himself. It was brutal. It always is.
But he couldn't let them know the full truth. Not about his battles, not about the universe-shaking threats he'd faced, and certainly not about who—or what—he truly was. Keeping his pace steady, Gohan focused on the path ahead, the sunlight streaming through the windows doing little to ease the weight on his shoulders.
Up ahead, Yang and Ruby continued their lively banter, their energy an almost jarring contrast to the quiet reflections happening behind them.
"So, mystery man's got battle scars and a brooding vibe," Yang teased, nudging Ruby with her elbow. "Not to mention the muscles. I'm just saying, Rubes, it's like he's straight out of one of those novels you like."
Ruby groaned, her cheeks turning pink. "Yang! Stop it! He's our teammate! Can you not make this weird?"
Yang grinned, clearly enjoying Ruby's flustered reaction. "What? I'm just pointing out the obvious. You gotta admit, he's got that whole 'hero with a dark past' thing going on."
Ruby threw her hands up in exasperation. "That doesn't mean you have to talk about it!" she protested, her voice high-pitched with embarrassment.
Weiss glanced forward, her patience wearing thin. "Yang, could you please focus? Some of us are trying to have a serious discussion."
Yang turned back to Weiss with a playful smirk. "Oh, don't act like you're not curious, Weiss. If he was older, I'd bet you'd be all over him. I know I would."
Ruby groaned loudly, her face turning bright red at her sister's teasing. "Yang! Please! You're making it weird!" she whined, trying to hide behind her hands in embarrassment.
Weiss, to her credit, only rolled her eyes and gave Yang a sharp look. "Please, Yang. That's not what I'm thinking," she said, her tone exasperated. "I just want to understand why he's so guarded."
Yang chuckled, clearly enjoying herself. "Sure, Weiss. Just admit it, you're curious. He's got that whole mysterious vibe going on, and you can't resist a good mystery. Plus, he has muscles on muscle!"
Blake, who had been quiet until now, glanced over at Gohan. He was walking slightly behind them, his normally unreadable expression now clear as day—he was embarrassed. His face had gone a shade of pink, and his shoulders were slightly hunched, as if trying to hide his discomfort. He avoided eye contact, focusing instead on the floor ahead, clearly trying to make himself as small as possible in the midst of their teasing.
Blake's sharp eyes caught the change in his posture, and her lips pressed together in thought. She wasn't one to engage in the same kind of playful banter, but she could see that Gohan wasn't used to this kind of attention. His discomfort was palpable, and she couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for him.
He's not used to this, she thought, considering his response. But if it's a way to get him to open up, maybe it's worth pushing a little.
Blake wasn't one to make others uncomfortable, but there was something about Gohan's guarded nature that intrigued her. She'd seen that kind of distance before—something hidden just beneath the surface, something that needed a little nudge to come to light. Maybe this teasing, though uncomfortable for him, was exactly what he needed to feel like part of the group. Or at least, it was a way to make him feel less alone.
Blake spoke softly, her voice barely above a whisper but carrying a hint of amusement. "If he was older, I would have to agree with Yang."
Yang grinned at Blake's comment, clearly pleased to have her on her side. "Yeah, Blake gets it." She chuckled, clearly enjoying Gohan's flustered reaction.
Gohan's face flushed a deep red, and he avoided looking at any of them, clearly embarrassed by their teasing. His shoulders were slightly hunched as he tried to shrink into himself, desperately hoping they'd drop the subject.
Weiss shot a pointed look at Blake. "Blake, you're not helping," she said, a note of exasperation in her voice, though there was no real malice in her tone.
Ruby, still partially hiding behind her hands, let out a sigh of relief when Weiss stepped in. "He's going to think we're weird..." she muttered, glancing nervously at Gohan, her face still a shade of pink from the earlier teasing.
Yang, ever the instigator, pulled Ruby into a playful side-hug and grinned mischievously. "Oh, little Rubes," she teased, ruffling her sister's hair. "Why do you care what he thinks? He's part of the team now. We're a little weird, sure, but that's what makes us fun."
Ruby groaned, hiding her face in her hands as she gave a frustrated sigh.
Yang chuckled, but her expression softened a little. "It's okay, Rubes. We're a weird team. He's gonna have to get used to it. Besides, Mr. High-Level Combat can't be getting embarrassed over a little girl talk."
Ruby let out a sigh, rubbing her forehead with one hand. "I just don't want him to feel uncomfortable..."
Yang smirked, nudging her sister with her elbow. "Trust me, he's tougher than you think. A little teasing isn't gonna throw him off. And, hey, it's not like we're not all in this together. Plus, he's gotta learn to take it if he's gonna hang out with us!"
Gohan, still walking a little behind the group, chuckled awkwardly. "I think I can manage," he said, his tone light but still a little embarrassed.
Weiss, who had been silent for a moment, gave a soft sigh. "I'll admit, I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one who's actually trying to focus on getting to class."
Yang grinned, obviously enjoying the moment. "Come on, Weiss, lighten up a little! We're all just getting to know each other. You can't tell me you didn't enjoy a little bit of fun in your day?"
Weiss shot her a sharp look, though there was no malice in her expression. "I just don't understand why it's necessary to turn everything into a joke."
"Because it's how we bond!" Yang replied with a grin. "You can't just be all business all the time. You need a little fun, or you'll burn out. And trust me," she added, her tone teasing but sincere, "you don't want to miss out on the fun."
In Professor Port's class, Team RWBY was scattered in various states of distraction. Ruby absentmindedly doodled in her notebook, Weiss scrolled through her scroll with a focused look, Blake had her nose buried in a book unrelated to class, and Yang rested her uninjured hand on her chin, looking out the window with a distant expression. Her other arm resting at her side.
Gohan, however, sat straight in his seat, his eyes fixed on Professor Port as he animatedly recounted a tale of an old hunt. He listened intently, taking in every detail, finding value in the lesson that his classmates seemed to overlook. After all, learning about this world's monsters and the history of Huntsmen was all new to him—and knowledge was power. Even if Professor Port's style was a little... unconventional, Gohan was determined to learn everything he could.
As class finally ended, Ruby nudged him with a grin. "You actually listened to all of that?"
Gohan blinked, a little surprised. "Yeah… didn't you?"
"Uh, no offense, but Port's stories can be a little… boring," Ruby replied with a laugh.
They didn't have long to linger before another group approached: Team JNPR. Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora, and Ren strolled up, each reacting to Gohan in their own way.
Jaune offered a hesitant smile, his gaze flickering briefly to Yang's arm, still bandaged. "Hey, uh," he greeted awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. Ruby, noticing the tension, spoke up with her usual energy.
"This is Gohan—the one I messaged you about yesterday!" Ruby said, her voice bright as she gestured toward Gohan with a wide smile. Jaune looked between Ruby and the new arrival, still unsure of what to say but making an effort to be friendly.
Pyrrha stepped forward with her usual warmth, extending a hand to Gohan. "It's great to finally meet you, Gohan! I've heard some interesting things. Your abilities sound really impressive." Her eyes sparkled with genuine curiosity.
Gohan took her hand, smiling warmly. "Thanks, sorry I must've missed your name," he said, feeling a little embarrassed.
The moment hung in the air for a brief second as the others froze. Pyrrha blinked in surprise, and the rest of Team JNPR exchanged confused glances.
"You… you don't know my name?" Pyrrha asked, her voice a mix of surprise and amusement.
Gohan looked around at the stunned faces of Team JNPR, a sense of discomfort creeping in. Had he missed something? Was there something important he should know about this person standing before him? His eyes flicked from one face to another, trying to make sense of the moment, unsure if there was a reason why everyone seemed so caught off guard.
Weiss, noticing the confusion on Gohan's face, let out an exasperated sigh and spoke up, her voice carrying the usual sharpness but with an unexpected gentleness. "This is Pyrrha Nikos," she began, her tone becoming almost a lecture. "She graduated top of her class at Sanctum and has won the Mistral Region Tournaments four years in a row!" Weiss paused for dramatic effect, clearly unimpressed by Gohan's apparent lack of recognition.
"And," she added, her voice dripping with impatience now, "she's the face of Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes!" Her arms crossed over her chest, clearly waiting for Gohan to grasp the significance of the name.
Gohan blinked, still processing the information. Everything Weiss said, besides winning some tournaments four years in a row, meant little to him. He hadn't heard of Sanctum, the Mistral Region Tournaments, or Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes. They all sounded impressive, no doubt, but it was a bit overwhelming given that he had no frame of reference for any of it.
Pyrrha's reputation clearly meant something to everyone else, but Gohan felt like he was missing the context.
"Uh, sorry," he said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "I don't really know much about the tournaments or the, uh, marshmallow flakes. But you seem pretty amazing. I'm sure those things are a big deal."
Weiss sighed, but there was no real malice in her tone—more like a resigned acceptance. "It's alright, Gohan. You'll catch up eventually." Her voice softened slightly, and she glanced at Pyrrha, who was still smiling.
Pyrrha, ever the gracious one, nodded with understanding. "It's alright, Gohan." But there was a subtle shift in her expression, a new wave of realization running through her. At least Jaune knew who she was—he was familiar with her, even if it was a bit awkward. But here was Gohan, someone who seemed entirely unfamiliar with her achievements, the tournaments, and even the cereal mascot. To him, she was just another person, and that was both humbling and, in a strange way, refreshing.
She couldn't help but smile softly, appreciating the simplicity of it. For a brief moment, she didn't have to be "Pyrrha Nikos, the undefeated champion" or the face of a cereal box. She was just a person meeting another person.
"Really, Gohan," she continued with a gentle smile, "you don't need to worry about all that. It's nice to meet someone who isn't already caught up in the hype." Her tone was warm, almost amused at how different this encounter felt from others.
Gohan gave her a sincere smile, still feeling a bit embarrassed but grateful for her kindness.
"Whoa, wait a second!" Nora exclaimed, her eyes widening with excitement. "So, you're like super strong, right? Can you really take on a Beowolf with one hand? Or maybe... an Ursa? Not even I can hit Yang that hard!" She grinned, bouncing on her toes, clearly eager for an answer.
Gohan blinked at her, caught slightly off-guard by the sudden barrage of questions. He chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. "I wasn't trying to..."
Before he could continue, Ren, who had been standing quietly by the side, spoke up with his usual calm demeanor. "This is Nora," he said, giving a small nod toward the excited girl. "I am Ren." His voice was smooth, serene, and a stark contrast to Nora's energetic enthusiasm.
Nora, still practically bouncing, turned toward Ren, but he placed a hand gently on her shoulder, subtly steering her away from bombarding Gohan with more questions. "Nora, maybe you should let Gohan catch his breath first," Ren suggested with a soft smile.
Nora, momentarily subdued by Ren's gentle reminder, gave an exaggerated sigh but couldn't suppress a grin. "Fine, fine. I'll let him off the hook for now," she said playfully, giving Gohan an exaggerated wink.
Gohan smiled awkwardly, grateful for the break. "I appreciate that." He turned his attention to Ren, grateful for the calmer energy he brought to the group. "Nice to meet you, Ren."
Ren nodded once more, still maintaining his tranquil demeanor. "It's a pleasure, Gohan." His tone was soothing, and Gohan found the calmness refreshing after the whirlwind of questions.
Nora, however, wasn't ready to drop the topic. "Okay, okay, maybe you can take on an Ursa, but can you—" she began again, but Ren's hand on her shoulder silenced her this time.
"Maybe later, Nora," Ren said with a quiet laugh, his patience never wavering.
Jaune, who had been standing off to the side watching the interaction with a slight smile, stepped forward now, eager to join in. He scratched the back of his head, still looking a bit awkward but trying his best to be friendly.
"Uh, hey, Gohan," Jaune began, his voice a little uncertain at first but gaining confidence as he continued. "I'm Jaune, leader of Team JNPR. You probably already figured that out, huh?" He gave a sheepish grin, clearly trying to make a good impression despite his usual awkwardness.
"Pleasure to meet you, Jaune," Gohan said with a warm smile, extending his hand. "I'm looking forward to working with you all."
Before Jaune could respond, Qrow cleared his throat loudly from behind them, his voice carrying its usual casual yet commanding tone. "Alright, kid, time to move," he said with a small but knowing smirk. "We've got a schedule to keep, and it looks like you've made enough new friends for today."
Gohan glanced over his shoulder, nodding at Qrow. Offering a brief wave to Team JNPR. "I'll catch up with you all later."
Back in Team RWBY's dorm room, Ruby was in full excitement mode, bouncing on her feet as she outlined their plan.
"Alright, guys, today's the day! The investigation begins!" Ruby leaped from her hanging bed with all the energy of a team leader, arms raised in excitement, landing just inches from Weiss, who was reclining on the bottom bunk.
Weiss, in her usual dry tone, rolled her eyes. "I'm glad to see we're taking this so seriously."
Ruby, undeterred, took charge. "Right! Everyone remember their roles?"
Weiss stood up, taking her part seriously. "You and I will head to the CCT to check the Schnee records for any other Dust robberies or suspicious activity. Since I'm part of the family, it shouldn't be an issue."
Blake, standing nearby, offered her part. "The White Fang has regular faction meetings. If I can get in, I might be able to find out what they're planning next."
Yang grinned confidently. "I have an old contact on the shady side of town who usually knows what's going on in Vale. Getting some info shouldn't be too hard..."
Ruby pumped her fist. "Perfect! We'll regroup tonight to go over what we find. Let's do this!"
Just then, a familiar voice came from the window. "Yeah!"
Startled, they turned to see Sun hanging upside-down by his tail, grinning from ear to ear.
"Sun!" Blake exclaimed, surprised.
Yang raised an eyebrow. "How did you get up there?"
Sun shrugged, as if this were completely normal. "I climb trees all the time. It's no big deal." Without further ado, he flipped into the room with ease. "So, are we finally getting back at that Torchwick guy?"
Blake, trying to keep things on track, stepped forward. "We're investigating. As a team."
Ruby, though clearly fond of Sun, shook her head. "Sorry, Sun. We don't want to get friends involved if we don't have to."
Sun smirked, brushing off her concern. "That's silly! Friends should always be involved! That's why I brought Neptune!" He gestured out the window, and the team leaned out, stacked comically, to see Neptune, poised outside on a narrow ledge.
"'Sup?" Neptune greeted them coolly.
Ruby blinked. "How did you even get up here?"
Neptune looked a little less confident. "I have my ways. But, uh… can I come in? We're really high up right now."
Sun grinned mischievously as he looked around the room. "Heard you got a new teammate... and he has a tail." His words, full of playful curiosity, made Ruby pause for a moment before she sheepishly scratched the back of her head.
Ruby shot a quick glance at Weiss, who was already eyeing Sun suspiciously, as though this wasn't something she'd expected to hear.
Yang's grin only widened. "Yeah, about that..." She held up her burse arm and gave it a firm shake, her confidence unwavering despite her injury. "Our new buddy Gohan might have a tail, but he's no joke. He's strong. Like, really strong."
Blake crossed her arms, a little less excited about the idea of a newcomer being involved in their investigation. "Just make sure he doesn't get too caught up in whatever this is. We don't need distractions."
Sun, unbothered by Blake's concern, one hand on his hip as he eyed the group, now feeling the awkward tension in the room. "Don't worry, Blake. I know a thing or two about distractions... and keeping things interesting."
Ruby, rolling her eyes but smiling at Sun's antics, quickly moved to change the subject. "Alright, alright. We'll fill you in later. But for now—" She turned back to the team, taking charge again, "—we need to focus. No more distractions, Sun."
Sun gave a dramatic sigh, pulling out his weapon and casually twirling it. "Fine, fine. But, hey! Since Gohan's so strong, maybe he'll be a good backup if we ever run into trouble, right?"
Ruby, though clearly fond of Sun, shook her head. "Sorry, Sun. We don't want to get Gohan involved if we don't have to."
Blake raised an eyebrow, her arms still crossed as she looked between Sun and Ruby. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Sun. Gohan's not some backup, and we're not exactly in the business of using people as muscle for our personal investigations." Her tone was firm but not unkind, a clear reminder of the team's focus.
Ruby, sensing the growing tension, quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Yeah, exactly! We're just going to focus on finding out what's going on in Vale. No unnecessary risks." She shot Sun a quick, reassuring smile.
Neptune, who had been standing off to the side, shrugged casually, trying to seem nonchalant but clearly feeling a little out of place. "Well, if Gohan's really as strong as you say, he could be useful down the line. But, yeah, let's get to work now," he said, attempting to keep the mood light.
Ruby beamed at Neptune, her optimism infectious. "Exactly! We'll focus on the task at hand today and figure out the rest later. No need to complicate things."
Blake nodded in agreement, her arms still crossed. "Right. Investigating the Dust robberies and the White Fang—those are our priorities. The rest can wait." She gave Sun a pointed look, reinforcing her stance.
Sun, however, wasn't so easily deterred. "Of course! But seriously—when you're dealing with something as big as the White Fang, wouldn't it be nice to have a little extra muscle around?" He flashed a grin, clearly hoping to convince them.
Ruby sighed, waving her hand as if to dismiss the suggestion for now. "Alright, alright, we'll keep that in mind! But for now, let's stick to the plan. Everyone knows their roles, right?"
Yang gave a thumbs-up with her uninjured hand. "You bet. I've got my friend in Vale to track down info, no problem."
Weiss, who had been eyeing the situation with mild skepticism, nodded reluctantly. "I'll handle the Schnee records and Dust robberies. It's an easy job for me." Her tone was cool, but she was clearly on board with the plan.
Ruby, bouncing on her heels with excitement, was eager to get things moving. "Alright, I'll go with Weiss; Sun, you're with Blake." She gave a determined nod as she began to organize the groups. As she pushed Neptune past Weiss, Neptune casually slipped Weiss a wink.
Weiss, momentarily caught off guard, froze, her eyes widening in surprise. She quickly regained her composure, shooting Neptune a terse but steady look, her usual icy demeanor in place.
Ruby continued without missing a beat, eager to get the plan into motion. "And Neptune, you can go with Yang since she doesn't have a partner. Everyone good?"
Sun and Blake exchanged glances and nodded, ready to take on their respective tasks, while Yang, who had been quietly observing, gave a thumbs-up, signaling that she was prepared. The team was ready to take action, and Ruby, ever the determined leader, was all too eager to dive into their investigation.
The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows as Gohan followed Qrow through the quiet streets of Vale. The city had started to settle into the evening, with people going about their business and the soft hum of activity filling the air. But Gohan couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He glanced at Qrow, who walked with his usual easy stride, the older man's posture relaxed despite the subtle tension in his eyes.
Gohan's curiosity got the better of him. "What's the mission, exactly?"
Qrow didn't look back immediately, keeping his focus on the road ahead as they made their way toward their destination. He knew Gohan wasn't the type to ask just out of idle curiosity—there was a genuine sense of readiness in the boy's voice, even if the mystery of the mission seemed to still hang in the air.
"It's a recon mission, kid," Qrow answered finally, his tone steady, though there was a flicker of something beneath it. "We've been hearing some rumors about a warehouse on the outskirts of Vale. We think it's tied to the White Fang, but we don't have confirmation yet." He glanced over at Gohan briefly before adding, "We've also been tracking a criminal named Torchwick. Rumor has it, he'll be there too."
Gohan raised an eyebrow, processing the new piece of information. "Torchwick?" The name sounded vaguely familiar, but he wasn't fully up to speed on the criminal world in this new world. "What's his deal?"
Qrow sighed, a faint scowl tugging at the corner of his lips. "He's a mastermind with a knack for pulling off heists. Has a history with the White Fang, but he's not exactly loyal to them. He's more of a mercenary type—always in it for the money, never for the cause." Qrow glanced back at Gohan, his voice hardening. "If he's involved, we're in for a world of trouble."
Gohan's expression grew serious as he took in the new information. "So, this could be more than just a warehouse raid?"
"Exactly," Qrow replied, his eyes narrowing. "Torchwick doesn't show up for just anything. If he's here, it means there's something big going down—something that involves more than just the White Fang. And that's why we need to be careful."
Gohan nodded. His mind raced with questions. He had a feeling that this mission was about to get a lot more complicated. "So what's the plan if we run into him?"
"Keep your head," Qrow said sharply, his tone suddenly more serious. "Torchwick's slippery, and he's dangerous. We're not here to take him down just yet, Gohan. If he's here, we're going to need to watch him, figure out what he's up to."
Gohan, still processing the weight of the mission, glanced at Qrow with a furrowed brow. "If we're just watching him, why do you need me here?"
Qrow gave him a sideways look, his lips curling into a wry smile. "Well, rumor has it the White Fang are doing a recruitment drive—looking for more members. And with you walking around with a tail," he said, his eyes flicking briefly to Gohan's saiyan appendage, "you're the perfect reason to get close without raising suspicion. They might think you're one of them."
Gohan thought it over for a moment, his expression turning thoughtful. "So, if they see me walking around, they'll probably assume I'm just another recruit, not someone here to spy on them." He glanced at Qrow, making sure he understood correctly.
Qrow nodded with a sharp, approving look. "Exactly, you'll blend right in. They'll think you're just another potential recruit looking to join their cause." He gave Gohan a sideways glance. "But remember, stay low, stay in character. We're not there to make waves. Just observe, and let me handle the rest."
The two of them continued to move toward the warehouse, the sun having just set, leaving the sky in shades of orange and purple. The evening air was cool, the streetlights flickering to life as they walked. The path to the warehouse was dimly lit, the area quiet with only the sound of their footsteps and the occasional rustle of the wind.
"Well, kid, this is where I leave you," Qrow said, pausing for a moment. His eyes scanned the area, making sure they weren't being watched. "Keep going down this road, and the warehouse will be right at the end. You'll be in the clear as long as you don't draw attention to yourself."
Gohan looked at him, a small flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. "What about you? Aren't you coming with me?"
Qrow shook his head with a half-smile. "I've got my own route to take. I'll be close by, keeping an eye on things. You focus on blending in. No heroics, understood?"
Gohan nodded, though the weight of the mission hung heavy on him. "Understood. Stay hidden, observe, don't make any waves."
"Exactly," Qrow replied, giving him a quick pat on the shoulder. "We don't want to spook anyone, especially not Torchwick. If you get the chance, gather what intel you can. But above all, don't get caught. If you think something's off, don't hesitate to pull back. I'll be watching."
Gohan took a deep breath, the seriousness of the situation sinking in. "Got it. I'll be careful."
Qrow gave him one last sharp look, as if weighing his words carefully. "You might not be used to working in the shadows, but if this goes well, we'll be one step closer to taking down the White Fang's operation. Just… stay sharp, Gohan, and get your tail out."
Gohan nodded, understanding the gravity of the mission. "Got it. I'll keep a low profile," he said, his voice steady but carrying a hint of resolve.
With a quick glance around to ensure no one was watching, Gohan carefully unwrapped his tail from the binding cloth around his waist. He let it fall behind him, the long, sleek appendage swaying slightly as he walked.
Reaching the edge of the warehouse, Gohan paused and took in the scene. The building itself was old and industrial, surrounded by chain-link fences topped with rusting barbed wire. Windows were shattered, and some of the walls were stained with age and grime. He could hear the distant rumble of traffic from Vale's main streets, but it seemed distant and muffled here.
With a final check to make sure everything was in place, Gohan took a deep breath and slipped inside through the slightly ajar door. The interior was dimly lit, the only light coming from a few flickering bulbs hanging from the ceiling. Crates and barrels were scattered throughout the space, their wooden edges warped and worn with time.
As Gohan moved deeper into the shadows, a booming voice interrupted his thoughts. "New recruits, keep to the right!"
He stiffened, his senses sharpening. He hadn't expected to be greeted so soon, but there was no time to hesitate. Gohan blended into the crowd of figures gathering near the entrance. The group consisted of mostly young men and women, their faces hidden by masks. A burly man with a rough voice was handing out masks to those who weren't wearing them already. Gohan stepped forward and received one, slipping it on without hesitation.
Once his mask was in place, Gohan joined the group, making sure to keep his movements casual. His heart raced with anticipation, but he pushed the feeling aside, focusing on the task at hand. His tail swished behind him, but he kept it low and hidden, just as Qrow had instructed.
The other recruits were murmuring amongst themselves, their conversations too hushed to make out. Gohan stayed quiet, waiting for something to give him a clue about the situation. From what he could gather, they were all being funneled toward one section of the warehouse. The leader of this operation, the man handing out the masks, seemed to be organizing the new arrivals into groups.
Gohan kept his eyes sharp, watching the movements of the others. A few of them seemed a little too eager, while others looked nervous, as though they weren't sure what they had just walked into. The atmosphere was thick with tension, but he kept his breathing steady, blending in like the others.
"Line up," the man barked again, motioning toward a series of open crates. "Get in formation, and wait for the briefing."
Gohan fell into line with the rest of the recruits, as he waited, his mind raced with questions but he would have to wait and see.
Goku and King Kai found themselves standing on a pristine, ethereal world. The grass shimmered with an unnatural brilliance, and the skies were a soothing shade of violet. They were on the Sacred World of the Kais, the domain of the Supreme Kai.
Standing before them was Shin, the Supreme Kai, his arms crossed and an expression of disappointment etched across his face. Kibito stood at his side, towering and stoic as ever.
"King Kai, Son Goku," Shin began, his voice calm but firm, "do you have any idea how much damage you've caused?"
King Kai immediately bowed deeply, his antennae drooping. "Supreme Kai! I—I apologize profusely! Believe me, I had no idea this would happen."
Shin turned his gaze to Goku, who waved sheepishly. "Uh… hi! Sorry about the whole… uh, planet thing?"
The Supreme Kai's stern expression didn't waver. "Son Goku, your actions have created ripples throughout the cosmos. Time travel is a dangerous tool, and by allowing it to be used so carelessly, you've endangered countless realities."
Goku blinked, looking genuinely confused. "Endangered realities? But Trunks said it would just make a new timeline. Isn't that okay?"
"No, it's not okay!" Shin snapped, his calm demeanor briefly breaking. "Each alteration creates a parallel timeline that fractures the natural order. And then there's the matter of you letting Cell achieve his perfect form—"
"He needed a fair fight!" Goku interjected, crossing his arms stubbornly.
King Kai slapped his forehead. "Goku, please! Not the time!"
Shin sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose. "And then," he continued, his tone rising, "you blew up King Kai's planet! Do you have any idea how difficult it is to replace a celestial body tied to the Afterlife?"
Goku looked down, genuinely remorseful now. "Yeah, I really didn't mean for that to happen. Sorry, King Kai."
King Kai just groaned. "Apologies won't bring my planet back."
Kibito finally spoke up, his deep voice echoing in the quiet. "Supreme Kai, what punishment shall we impose for their reckless behavior?"
Shin thought for a moment, then looked directly at Goku. "Your punishment will not be traditional."
The skies above Earth darkened as the Dragon Balls lit up with a brilliant golden light. The gathered Z Fighters stood in a circle around the summoning area, tension thick in the air. Dende clasped his hands nervously, while Vegeta stood with arms crossed, his scowl deeper than usual.
Shenron's serpentine form coiled into the heavens, his glowing red eyes casting an eerie glow over the assembled group. His voice boomed, deep and resonant, shaking the ground beneath their feet.
"STATE YOUR WISH," the Eternal Dragon demanded, his tone impatient yet commanding.
Krillin stepped forward, his voice trembling slightly as he spoke. "Shenron, we wish to bring back Son Goku and Son Gohan to life!"
There was a moment of silence as Shenron's eyes glowed brighter, scanning the cosmos for the souls in question. The tension grew unbearable, and even Vegeta found himself holding his breath.
Finally, Shenron spoke, his voice solemn and heavy. "SON GOKU IS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE SUPREME KAI, AND SON GOHAN… HIS SOUL EXISTS BEYOND THIS UNIVERSE AND BEYOND MY POWER TO BRING BACK."
The words struck like a thunderclap. The Z Fighters stared up at Shenron, their faces a mixture of shock, confusion, and despair.
"What do you mean 'beyond this universe'?!" Vegeta demanded, stepping forward angrily. "Explain yourself, dragon!"
Shenron's eyes flared briefly, a warning. "THE SOUL OF SON GOHAN IS NO LONGER TETHERED TO YOUR REALITY. IT HAS TRANSCENDED TO A PLANE BEYOND MY REACH."
Dende's eyes widened, his voice trembling as he spoke. "But… that's impossible. No soul is supposed to leave the cycle of life and death."
Shenron's deep, rumbling voice responded. "IT IS AN EXCEPTIONAL CASE. THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF HIS DEPARTURE HAVE DISPLACED HIM FROM THE NATURAL ORDER."
Krillin looked devastated. "So… we can't bring him back? There's no way at all?"
"CORRECT," Shenron replied without emotion. "AS FOR SON GOKU, HIS SOUL REMAINS UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYE OF THE SUPREME KAI. UNTIL THEY RELEASE HIM, I CANNOT INTERVENE."
The group fell into stunned silence, the weight of the revelation crushing their hopes.
Vegeta clenched his fists, his pride and frustration boiling over. "This is absurd! Kakarot has cheated death more times than I can count, and now we're supposed to just accept that he's out of reach?"
"Vegeta," Piccolo said, his voice low and serious, "this isn't about cheating death. The Supreme Kai's authority isn't something we can challenge. If Goku's under their jurisdiction, it's not up to us."
"But Gohan…" Chi-Chi whispered, her voice trembling as tears welled up in her eyes. "He's just a boy. He didn't deserve this. How can his soul be beyond our reach?"
Bulma put a comforting hand on Chi-Chi's shoulder, her own eyes glistening with unshed tears. "We'll figure something out. There has to be a way."
Shenron, still hovering above them, rumbled once more. "IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER WISH, STATE IT NOW. OTHERWISE, I SHALL DEPART."
Piccolo turned to the others. "We should use the wish to locate Gohan's soul. If we know where he is, we can figure out a way to bring him back."
Krillin nodded. "Good idea. Shenron, we wish to know where Gohan's soul has gone."
The dragon's eyes glowed brightly as he searched for an answer. After a moment, his voice boomed again. "THE SOUL OF SON GOHAN WAS TAKEN BY A SUPREME KAI," Shenron repeated, his tone steady and unwavering.
"What do you mean, 'a Supreme Kai'?" Bulma demanded, stepping forward, her hands clenched into fists. "Aren't the Supreme Kai the ones watching over Goku? Are you saying there's another one out there?"
Shenron's eyes pulsed with light, acknowledging her question. "THERE ARE MANY SUPREME KAI ACROSS THE MULTIVERSE, EACH PRESIDING OVER THEIR OWN DOMAINS. SON GOHAN WAS CLAIMED BY ONE FROM BEYOND THIS UNIVERSE"
The group froze, trying to process the weight of Shenron's words. Vegeta's frown deepened, his arms crossed tightly. "Another universe? You mean there are others beyond ours?"
"CORRECT," Shenron replied. "IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, THE SUPREME KAI IN QUESTION FOUND THE UNIQUE NATURE OF SON GOHAN'S SOUL TO BE OF INTEREST AND HAS TAKEN HIM INTO THEIR DOMAIN."
Chi-Chi's voice cracked as she stepped forward, her face a mixture of grief and fury. "Taken him? What gives them the right to just take my son?! He's not some… some object for them to experiment on!"
Shenron's tone remained impassive. "THE SUPREME KAI OF THAT REALM ACTED WITHIN THEIR AUTHORITY. I CANNOT INTERVENE."
Piccolo's gaze remained fixed on Shenron, his expression unreadable, though the tension in his stance betrayed his concern. "Shenron, do you know why this Supreme Kai took Gohan? What could they want with him?"
The dragon's eyes glowed faintly, as though processing the question. After a pause, Shenron's deep voice resonated once more. "I DO NOT POSSESS THE KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR INTENT. SUPREME KAI OPERATE BEYOND THE SCOPE OF MY UNDERSTANDING OR INFLUENCE."
Krillin shifted uncomfortably, rubbing the back of his neck. "Could we talk to that Supreme Kai?" he asked, glancing nervously at Piccolo. "Maybe they'd tell us why they took Gohan… or at least let us see him."
Shenron's eyes flared slightly. "CONTACTING THE SUPREME KAI OF ANOTHER UNIVERSE IS BEYOND MY ABILITIES. THE SUPREME KAI OF THIS UNIVERSE MAY BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU, BUT WHETHER THEY WILL CHOOSE TO INTERVENE IS UNCERTAIN."
Vegeta let out a sharp huff, crossing his arms tightly. "Figures. Every time we deal with these so-called gods, they just make things harder. What's stopping them from stepping in for once?"
"THE SUPREME KAI OF THIS UNIVERSE ABIDE BY A STRICT ORDER," Shenron replied, his tone unwavering. "THEY RARELY INTERFERE IN THE AFFAIRS OF OTHER SUPREME KAI DOMAINS UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY."
Bulma frowned, stepping closer to Shenron. "So, let me get this straight. Gohan's soul has been taken by some Supreme Kai from another universe, and we can't even talk to them unless our Supreme Kai decides it's worth their time?" Her frustration was palpable.
"THAT IS CORRECT," Shenron confirmed, his voice carrying an air of finality.
Bulma's eyes narrowed, her determination flaring as she jabbed a finger toward Shenron. "Then let me talk to this universe's Supreme Kai. Someone has to start taking responsibility for what's happening here!"
The air around the Lookout grew thick with energy, an almost suffocating pressure that made everyone stop in their tracks. Shenron's glowing eyes flickered brighter for a moment before dimming, and the massive dragon bowed its head slightly.
"I HAVE DELIVERED YOUR MESSAGE," Shenron boomed. "AND THEY HAVE ANSWERED."
The air on the Lookout crackled with tension as the shimmering portal solidified, its radiant glow casting elongated shadows across the gathered Z Fighters. Emerging from the vortex was Shin, the Supreme Kai of Universe 7, his presence exuding a calm yet undeniable authority.
He stepped forward with measured grace, his small stature belying the immense power and wisdom he carried. His pink skin seemed to glow faintly in the fading light, the white mohawk atop his head standing in stark contrast. His blue coat, lined with vibrant red, billowed slightly as the portal behind him closed, leaving a momentary hum in its wake. The Potara earrings dangling from his pointed ears glinted briefly, catching the last rays of the sun.
"I have come," Shin announced, his voice calm but carrying a weight that commanded attention. His eyes scanned the group, lingering briefly on Piccolo, before settling on Bulma, whose determination hadn't wavered despite the Supreme Kai's sudden arrival.
Bulma wasted no time, stepping forward with her hands on her hips. "Good. Then you can explain what's going on with Gohan! Shenron said his soul was taken by another Supreme Kai from some other universe. Why? And why haven't we been told about this?"
Shin raised a hand, his expression as calm as his voice. "Patience, Bulma. I understand your frustration, but the matters concerning Gohan are... complicated."
"Complicated?" Piccolo interjected, his voice sharp. "You're the Supreme Kai of this universe. If another Kai is meddling in our realm, that sounds like it's your responsibility."
Shin's serene demeanor faltered for a moment, a flicker of unease crossing his face. "Ordinarily, you would be correct. But this situation is unique. The Supreme Kai who took Gohan is from a realm that operates beyond the typical boundaries of our multiverse."
"Beyond the multiverse?" Krillin echoed, his face pale. "What does that even mean?"
Shin clasped his hands behind his back, taking a step forward as he began to explain. "There exist Supreme Kais who oversee universes parallel to ours, with laws and orders distinct from our own. These universes are not part of the twelve we know. They are... adjacent realms, connected in subtle and rare ways. The Kai you speak of, it seems, has taken an interest in Gohan."
Bulma's expression darkened. "And you just let them take him?"
"I was not consulted," Shin admitted, his voice tinged with frustration. "Their jurisdiction overlaps only in extreme cases, and their power rivals, if not exceeds, mine. If they've taken Gohan, it's because they believe his presence is required for something beyond what even I can comprehend."
"Enough with the cryptic answers!" Vegeta barked, his energy flaring slightly. "If you're supposed to be some god, then act like it and bring the boy back!"
Shin turned to Vegeta, unshaken by his outburst. "You underestimate the gravity of this situation, Vegeta. If this Kai has taken Gohan, it's for a reason beyond any mortal or even most divine comprehension. Interfering recklessly could disrupt the balance between our universe and theirs."
"And what about Goku?" Piccolo pressed. "He's apparently under your jurisdiction. Why can't we bring him back?"
Shin's expression turned more serious as he continued, his voice now carrying a weightier tone. "Goku is indeed under my watch, but Goku has broken many rules. As well as your North Kai... not only of our universe, but of the very order that governs all realities."
The group froze, processing his words. Vegeta, arms crossed, shot a sharp glare at Shin, clearly unimpressed. "Goku's not the only one who's been reckless. Your North Kai and the other Kais have allowed it to happen over and over. Why aren't they being punished, huh?"
Shin's face tightened. "This is not the time for blame. Your North Kai may have been... lenient in his judgment, but Goku's actions have had severe consequences. Do you understand what it means to meddle with the timeline itself? The very fabric of existence is at risk because of his reckless disregard for the rules."
Krillin stepped forward, his usual calm demeanor replaced by concern. "But, if what you're saying is true, then Goku didn't mean for any of this to happen, right? He just wants to protect people."
Shin sighed deeply, looking momentarily exhausted. "I know Goku's heart. His intentions are pure, but he's a warrior—one who, at times, acts before thinking. And the consequences have been disastrous. Goku's actions have rippled through time and space. That's why he is under my jurisdiction now, and why he cannot be brought back to the living until things are set right."
Piccolo, ever the strategist, folded his arms and glared at Shin. "So what exactly are you telling us? That Goku is going to remain in some kind of divine timeout for messing up? What about Gohan? You say his soul is somewhere else entirely."
Shin's gaze softened at the mention of Gohan's name, but the weight of what he said next hit harder than anyone expected.
"Gohan's soul is... beyond the realm of even my power to reach. It was taken by a different Supreme Kai, one from a distant universe," Shin explained, his voice tight. "And while I can guide Goku through the necessary steps to restore balance, Gohan's situation is much more complicated. His soul has transcended beyond the boundaries of time and space as we understand it."
The room fell silent. The Z Fighters stared in disbelief. Gohan, their friend, their son—gone to a place even Shin couldn't reach.
Bulma, always quick to find a solution, stepped forward, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. "So, let me get this straight. You're saying Gohan's soul is with another Supreme Kai from another universe... and there's nothing we can do to bring him back? Is that it?"
Shin shook his head slowly, his pink face drawn with exhaustion. "Not exactly. But the forces that govern this type of occurrence are... beyond even the control of most Kais. We're dealing with a situation that requires great power. And intervention from a force not of this universe."
Vegeta growled, pacing in frustration. "So what do we do now, huh? We just wait while Kakarot's stuck under your supervision and the boy's soul is trapped in some other universe? This is madness!"
"Vegeta..." Piccolo said softly, his voice filled with a strange calm. "We've been through worse. This may be the hardest thing we've faced, but we've always found a way before."
Shin's face remained neutral, but his eyes betrayed a glimmer of regret. "I understand your anger, but this is the truth of the matter. Goku's actions have disrupted the very balance of existence. He broke rules that even the Kais themselves must adhere to. As for Gohan... his fate lies in the hands of another Supreme Kai, whose motives and intentions are beyond my knowledge."
Bulma, her eyes wide with both confusion and growing frustration, stepped forward. "But there has to be a way, right? I mean, we can't just sit here and accept that Gohan is gone forever, that Goku can't come back! We've faced worse situations before. There has to be something we can do!"
Shin hesitated, clearly uncomfortable with the idea of offering any false hope. "There is a way to possibly bring them both back... but it's not simple. You would need to gather the Super Dragon Balls from across the universes. They are more powerful than the regular Dragon Balls, capable of granting any wish, no matter how impossible it seems. They were known to be scattered across Universes 6 and 7."
"Wait a second," Bulma said, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "The Super Dragon Balls are scattered across two universes, right? That means we'll have to travel to Universe 6 as well. How do we even begin to get to these other universes? It's not like we can just hop from one to the other."
Shin nodded gravely. "Correct. To reach Universe 6, you would need a method of crossing between the universes. You would need to rely on beings who can travel through the multiverse, such as myself or the Supreme Kais of Universe 6."
Bulma's brow furrowed as she processed Shin's words. "So, you're saying we can't just use the Dragon Balls to get there? We need to rely on you or the Supreme Kai of Universe 6 to help us cross between the universes?"
Shin gave a solemn nod. "Indeed. The universes are separated by vast barriers, and while the Dragon Balls are powerful, they cannot cross these boundaries on their own. The only way to travel between universes is through the intervention of a Supreme Kai or other beings who possess the ability to move across these realms."
Vegeta crossed his arms, clearly frustrated by the limitations. "So we need to get on your good side then? That's just perfect."
"Vegeta, don't be rude," Bulma chided, giving him a stern look. "We need his help, remember? The Super Dragon Balls might be our only chance."
Shin's gaze softened, but his resolve remained firm as he continued, his voice now edged with a subtle but undeniable authority. "I have given you the information you seek, but I will not assist you further. Helping you would undermine my position as Supreme Kai and disrupt the balance of authority among the universes."
Bulma's face tightened with frustration, her fists clenching at her sides. "You're telling us you can't help, even though you're the one who knows how to get to Universe 6 and how to use the Super Dragon Balls?" she asked, her tone sharp. "We're talking about Goku and Gohan's lives here, and you're just going to stand by?"
Shin's eyes met hers, and for the first time, there was a flicker of regret in his gaze. "It is not that I do not understand your desperation, Bulma. But the rules that govern the universes are in place for a reason. My duty is to maintain the order, and if I interfere with this process, it could have dire consequences for all of existence."
Vegeta stepped forward, arms crossed, his usual scowl on his face. "Then let us deal with it ourselves. If you won't help, fine. We'll find another way."
"Vegeta, don't be foolish," Piccolo said, his voice calm but filled with purpose. "We need him. The Super Dragon Balls aren't something we can get on our own without crossing into Universe 6, and we need someone who can get us there."
"Then why don't you help us, Shin?" Krillin asked, his voice tinged with frustration. "You're the Supreme Kai of Universe 7. You're supposed to protect us, not stand by and watch us suffer."
Shin's eyes tightened, and he sighed, clearly struggling with his position. "I have already made my stance clear. I cannot act beyond the constraints of my role. But… I will not stop you. If you insist on going, I will not stand in your way."
Bulma stepped forward again, her voice tinged with a mix of annoyance and resolve. "You're leaving us with no choice. We'll do whatever it takes, even if it means traveling to Universe 6 without your help."
Shin paused, then gave a reluctant nod. "Very well. But understand that you are on your own now. The journey will not be easy, and there are forces beyond your control in Universe 6. Proceed with caution."
With that, Shin gave them a brief, almost dismissive bow and turned away, disappearing into the folds of the fabric of reality, leaving them to their own devices.
The group stood there for a moment, the tension thick in the air. They had been given their path, but now, it was up to them to take the first step.
