While Zelda was in class Rider decided to survey the school. He knew there was at least one other mage called Tousaka. So he wondered where her servant was hiding. Something had felt off since he entered the grounds. Avoiding the mortals was easy enough. However, the magical forces in the area seemed chaotic.
His wandering brought him to the equipment shed. The air felt thick and dark. As he was about to grab the handle he heard the clink of armor. He turned sword drawn held in both hands. A blonde woman smiled at him. She was wearing fine clothes and well maintained armor. Strangely she moved as if holding something heavy in her hands, but nothing was visible.
"So your not totally inept. Good, I dislike crushing weak opponents." The warrior woman smiled as she flicked her braid behind her shoulder. "Let's see what you can do shall we. I am Sabre prepare yourself." She took up an overhand sword stance and awaited combat.
He returned the grin. "You can call me Rider." The male servant shifted his own weapon to his left hand. He took up his normal fighting stance. A metal shield he had hoped to hide longer appeared on his right arm. Unfortunately, against a Sabre with the power he sensed. He had little option if he wished to survive. He supposed the shed could wait, because he didn't intend to lose. "I guess let's do this. I'll be a step closer to the Grail when we're done."
"Cocky aren't we. You look like a teenager so I shouldn't be surprised. Time to see if you can back it up." She charged ahead with precision. Her arm shivered with the force of her blow as the shield impacted her first strike. Then the youth back flipped before her follow up attack could connect. "Nicely done, seems I underestimated you."
"Thanks, that's a nice trick. Hiding your weapon like that. I never realized knowing what your dealing with effected so much." The battle resumed after the minor banter. This time Rider started the attack. He used his superior speed to get behind her. He aimed to hamstring her. She made a skilled shift in her stance and the ring of steel met his blade. 'That weapon must be quite large to deflect my sword like that.'
As the dance of power continued they both stopped suddenly. A girl's scream had broken their concentration. They looked at each other with intensity. Each of them was watching for a sneak attack. Then their eyes met and a wordless understanding passed between them. They both sheathed weapons simultaneously. Together the pair raced to the distressed voice. A girl wearing a gym suit was passed out on the ground. The duo saw no one else around.
Rider knelt and checked her pulse. It was barely there deepening his concern. He gasped quietly as he examined her closer. She had stronger than normal latent magical talent. Not enough to be a mage he thought. However, it definitely could attract mystical beings. "This is bad I don't think standard medicine can fix this. She needs a mage that can heal or she might die. Sabre is your master capable of that?"
"I don't know, she can heal me thru standard means. She has yet to display the capacity for others." Sabre felt a tickling between her shoulder blades. It put her on edge as she scanned the open area. "We should get out of here. I am uneasy about this situation."
"Understood, I shall carry her to the nurses office." He couldn't sense any danger at the moment. His master could have the ability to help. If she studied the right parts of goddess magic. He wasn't knowledgeable enough about her skill set to say for certain. He lifted the girl with both hands and started heading to the medical area. A rush of wind passed by his ear as the unmistakable clang of weaponry rang. An armored claw arm was mere inches from his body. He felt steel kiss his skin as Sabre shakily forced back Assassin.
"Huh, too bad the protective kind are usually easier to lure. The tall lanky man laughed maniacally. "Oh well, I'll take what I can get." He cracked his neck loudly. "Looks like you want to play blondie. I'm Assassin, death games are always fun aren't they." He licked his metal arm with excitement and vanished from sight.
The guy was hesitant to leave as he searched for the enemy. Sabre needed to focus and the innocent bystander wasn't helping. "Go Rider get the girl out of here. We're all destined to fight after all. You owe me nothing."
He was still reluctant, but knows she's right. "Fine I'm going! Hey Sabre you owe me a rematch got it!"
The woman smiled despite herself. "You got it Rider. I wouldn't dream of missing that. On my honor as a knight." The two nodded at each other as the male took off at full speed. Her understanding of Assassin's mentality. Caused her to dash towards her departing ally. She didn't see the enemy as her armor dented around her left ribcage. The snap of bone took her to a knee. This wasn't looking good she thought. The foe laughed briefly and vanished again. "Show yourself coward!" No response came as she tried to predict his next move.
Rider continued his run randomly darting to the side. He passed Tousaka as he entered the school building. He backed into a corner to protect his exposed back breathing heavily. "Aloof girl...Sabre...gym equip...Assassin." Then he continued his zagging path to the nurses office. 'Goddesses, I hope her hard head understood.'
Rin's guarded posture dropped as she processed the servants words. She raced to her locker and grabbed her bag of magic items. Then charged towards the track field as fast as she could. The image of the equipment shed filled her mind. She prayed that servant was honest. A sudden surge of magic from that direction increased her resolve to go faster. 'Sabre I'm coming!'
