The echo of their footprints seemed to pierce the silence of the night street. Shiro felt uneasy as he got closer to his destination. Everything Archer had taught him about the war he was in came to the forefront of his mind. The participants were supposed to battle at night. He wondered how much they actually cared about innocent bystanders. Due to his heightened state of nervousness he unwittingly reached out to his servant. He briefly paused. He could of sworn her heard the faintest sound of hooves of all things. "Himuro stay close to me alright, the Mayor's house isn't far now!"
Kane nodded in understanding. "Alright Emiya!" Even she felt the growing tension in the air. Then her head began to pound mysteriously.
Suddenly, a feminine voice began to laugh menacingly in the darkness around them. "Filthy humans, how unlucky for you to cross my path." The click of high heeled boots slowly came towards them. Soon a leather clad woman entered into the light around them. Her hair was long and purple. The truly strange thing was. That she wore a strange blindfold over her eyes. "Seems the boy has some magical strength. As he is not kneeling like his female companion." She moved her head like she could see perfectly fine. "Ah a master, now I understand. No servant, how foolish of you boy." She seemed to make metal rods attached by chains appear from nowhere.
The red haired guy looked to his classmate on her knees. She had immense pain in her features. Before he could ask her if she was alright she promptly passed out. He glared angrily at the woman before him. "What did you do to her?" As he spoke he activated a new variation of his magecraft that Archer taught him. Out of nothing, a short stabbing blade the Greeks called a Spatha appeared in both his hands. It appeared to be made out of shinning bronze.
"Not I human scum. My solution would have been much harsher by your standards." She grinned strangely at the weapons he summoned. "Interesting, from whom did you learn the making of Celestial Bronze? Only the greatest of heros wielded such tools for war." This caught Medusa by surprise. "No matter I suppose. In the end your merely a mortal magus facing a servant. I am well aware magecraft has it's limits. Though I am curious how durable they are?" Without further explanation she decided to test them and charged.
Shiro was soon breathing heavy as he barely blocked the woman's attacks. She was just so fast and he was fairly certain holding back. 'He needed to use a command seal to summon Archer.' However, blood was already pouring from wounds all over his body. She didn't even have a scratch. He was entirely outmatched already. There was no way he would have the chance. Suddenly his blades shattered and he was pushed back. His whole life flashed before his eyes as time seem to slow. He could see his death coming until three golden arrows appeared between them. The Rider servant narrowly avoided becoming a pincushion as she backed off.
She glared at the source of her problems. Her master was very clear about only attacking undefended Magus. However, this particular Archer servant was an old foe. "Chiron how unexpected. Time to die, you traitor to your own race!"
"Medusa, it is not pleasant to see you again. Battles are meant to be between Servants. So we better do this properly." Then Archer and Rider clashed wordlessly.
Park nightime...
"I understand being active in pursuing our enemies Lady Sheikah. However, I can only call this reckless beyond reason." Link didn't like this scenario one bit. Sure his master had sensed the elevated magical energy in this forest. Yet there were no servants he could sense around.
She grinned mischievously as Link addressed her. "Perhaps if you call me Zelda from now on. I'll consider planning better. Reguardless, I sense a High level glyph based spell around here. I can only conclude it's a Servant's doing." Her face took on a more serious expression as she continued. "Unfortunately, it's purpose eludes me at the moment." Then several blood curdling roars came from every direction.
Several massive creatures that seemed made of shadow appeared around them. Gryphons, giant boars, huge snakes and muscular lions surrounded the pair. Their number was impossible to determine in the dim light. The humanoid pair stood back to back amidst the monsters.
"Oh Goddesses this isn't good at all. Must be some sort of summoning spell for lesser spirits." Zelda was now deeply regretting her rash actions. "I do not want to hear I told you so Rider, understand?"
"No need too Lady Sheikah, we have to find the glyph quickly." Despite the circumstances he couldn't help feeling the desire to test himself. He felt the divine beast stirring within. Wolves were very proud creatures after all. "Zelda don't be alarmed about what I'm about to do. Stand firm and have courage or you will be unable to move."
"You mean you can still call on Farore's divine creature?" Rather than answer her he showed instead. The wind picked up around him as he grew into a wolf more than two times his original size. It's eyes shown with predatory intelligence as she felt the pressure. 'In this form he'll be able to track the glyph by its magical aura. How wise of him to use it now.' Well it was time for her to act as support. She called on her magic and released blades of ice in every direction. While Link ripped out the throat of a nearby shadow gryphon.
The pair fought their way thru the untold numbers with magic and might. At least until they reached the target area by his special scent ability. Unfortunately, a greater spirit that appeared fully formed breathed fire at them and howled menacingly. It was a mixture of lion and horse that wielded a massive double bladed axe.
"A Beserker class lesser servant not seen since the fall of Hyrule itself. A Lynel, Goddesses help us all! Now this war feels a little too personal." Zelda wavered in her resolve until Link gave a competitive roar to bolster her courage. "Thank you Rider, let us end this!"
Flashback Rider's first life: Her fall...
"My Lady I'm sorry, there are too many!"
Blades of darkness erupted across the battlefield. Water, Fire and Wind magic answered back.
"My Lady, we must fall back!"
"Don't be cowards your Sheikah trained! No Magus Clan is more prestigious in the eyes of the crown!" Zelda's troops were dwindling rapidly. The Lynel's were tearing them apart. She stood strong because the hero himself was cutting down anything trying to break thru too her. Then she heard that chilling laugh. "Goddesses no, it's Zhant the trator." If not for the Twill Magus' betraying them they wouldn't be losing ground right now.
"Well if it isn't the head of the Hylian King's magical defense force." He laughed maniacally as he tossed a familiar white bearded man's severed head at her feet. "Looks like you failed in your duty." Then he released full force shadow magic at her.
The blonde Magus returned fire with a stream of water. At first she was winning until more of Zhant's followers joined in. She was losing until Link jumped in front of her. He used a spin attack to deflect all the malevolent energy back at the casters. They all fell except their leader who laughed as he glared back.
"Fools you should mind your environment." The Dark wizard vanished as Link charged him.
Before the hero could turn back he heard a death scream. Zelda Sheikah had been sliced in half by a Lynel wielding a huge double axe. He belowed in righteous fury. As he ran towards it his form shifted into his divine wolf shape. Then he went straight for the beast throat.
