Month One of ANBU

Leaving the village via one of the many tunnels under the place was exciting for Mika but also sort of odd. His expanding knowledge of the village's nature was a strange thing. Only on a surface level, but still... odd.

He had Hinata, dressed as ANBU wearing twin white masks, at his side. Her mask was marked with Frog design, his a Chameleon. Today was the day they would mark three months of intense, ANBU level training. It was a daunting task, but one he knew he would excel at.

They were not alone, it was not just Hinata and him. Yugao was there, naturally, as well as sixteen other recruits and four other Full ANBU members. He knew why, they had been informed that these were the village's best attempts to bolster the ANBU before another attack. No one knew who they were, which was the point of their masks, so they got no special treatment or any other nonsense. They were nobody recruits, and that was the best thing for them.

For the first few weeks, the days bled together as they sparred hourly and just generally reached the level needed for ANBU. Mika fought against what he knew was a Inuzuka and her hound, two Aburames ( that sucked, literally, but he won both times), two people with taijutsu skills on par with LEE For crying outloud, Hinata few times ( he only won a third of those matches, she was brutal and only getting better by miles) and a very annoyed Yugao ( CAT masked) after... well...

Two of the recruits were trying to cheat and sabatoge Mika. "He's just a nobody, a freak. No Civie born shitstain gets that good. Bet his Mama was a whore and he's acutally someone's bastard."

They were dumb as fuck, as Mika had an excellent form of trauma enforced hearing. When you had to listen to survive, you develop an amazing sense of hearing. However, Yugao was better, and their next words made her snap.

"We should rough him up a little, he has something to prove. It's why he's been beating our asses so much and maybe if we do, we can get him kicked out. No place for Bastards."

Yugao's raw chakra presence startled them all, Mika included, as she kicked them away into the center of their training grounds. It was in the Land of Whirlpools, where the were just about to kill some group tied to the Gato Corporation. "You think to cheat, to sabatoge your own comrades? Chameleon is worth ten of you combined, he is loyal and skilled and neither of you are his equals." She turned to Mika. "Chameleon, fight me, show your worth."

Mika bowed after standing tall. He did not spare then idiots a glance, but he did look at the furious Hinata who he knew would pound them into oblivion. Her skills were advancing sacrily fast, In the last month she had easily become top dog in the combat arena with Mika taking second place.

Yugao did not bother to hesitate, slashing at Mika with full force. He had gotten so much better in a month, weaving around her strike and lashing out with a kick that connected sending her flying back. Before she could retaliate, He summoned two earth clones, silently, and sank them into the Earth. Then he rushed her, blade out, matching her blow for blow, using her own style against her. He felt her smile behind her mask, even as he pinned her with a push and one clone grabbed her heels, dragging her down to her knees.

Strong as hell, she pulled away, only for the last clone to pop up and place his blade at her kidneys, the real Mika at her throat.

The air filled with shock, but Hinata just snorted, muting her baby doll voice with her chakra. "Chameleon is better than you two idiots for a reason. I would suggest you not try him."

They all nodded slowly, though many knew this as Mika had bested them many times. He liked turning their own styles agaisnt them, like messing with the Inuzuka's noses and so on. The only time he ever really struggled, not counting the Higher ups or Hinata, was in raw taijutsu due to his small size but still he was smarter and that helped him win.

Yugao turned. "Try Chameleon if you like, but do not come crying to me when he breaks you in two."

The idiots in question, Dog and Hyena, nodded. "Yes, Ma'am."

And then it was time for the first mission, a set of assasinations that would take their kills counts to nearly a hundred... and Mika was not looking forward to that.
