Here I present myself with a new chapter!
First I want to thank Rakei who became a member of my Patre-on and redeemed for two consecutive extra chapters, so there will be three chapters in a sequence of 6 days (3 days difference for each update). Remember that if you want to extend this streak you can become a member of my Patre-on for one dollar, you can search for me as: Jyanzein.
Before I start, I want to answer a review:
Proud Parent: I get it, in many cases it ends up being meaningless those stories of betrayal. I try to make this not the case and make it feel "natural". I'm really glad you enjoyed these chapters, and I hope you will in the future.
Now it's time for the chapter.
Enjoy!
Penemue set the empty coffee cup down gently on the plate. Her gaze was fixed on the desk, or rather, on the peculiar Sacred Gear on it. Legs were suddenly placed on the piece of furniture, causing the woman to look at the cause.
Azazel crossed his legs as he turned the page of the newspaper. The cigarette he held to his lips twitched from side to side before expelling a large amount of smoke from his mouth and nose.
"¿Don't you think we've waited long enough? It's three in the morning." Penemue commented as she poured herself another cup of coffee.
"Last time, the spear disappeared in the night, ¿can't you be a little more patient?" Azazel didn't even look at her, the paper seemed to be quite interesting in his eyes.
"¿What if it was just a mistake?" The woman replied with another question.
"¿A mistake?" This time, Azazel took the trouble to look at her. "The spear was only engaged in dusting for a millennium..." The Cadre returned his gaze to his newspaper with a tired expression. "¿What would make you think it's a mistake?"
"Because Hyoudou is a Demon." Penemue did not hesitate to answer. "I don't think our Father would agree with..."
"¿Did that old man ever say who should be the spear bearer?" Azazel interrupted her, his gaze fixed on her once more. "The Angels are not as pure beings as they are made out to be. They killed a great many Greeks, innocent Greeks. We are more of the same ilk. Make no mistake, I am not saying we are all evil, this is the true meaning of a war: the victims." Azazel turned his newspaper before Penemue's impassive gaze.
"They were the ones who started it when they crucified our Father's mortal body..." Penemue gave a small sigh, knowing that wasn't the heart of the problem. "But if we're talking about culprits, you know the Demons were the worst, even worse than the Greeks. The amount of rapes and murders of innocents are still uncertain to this day." Penemue sipped from her coffee after her statement, watching as Azazel gave her a small glare as he let out some smoke.
"Yes, I remember. But you should remember that the brat had nothing to do with it. We're in a completely different time now." Azazel took the cigar out of his mouth. "However, those questions are the ones I'm least concerned about..." Azazel's look became somewhat serious, something that surprised Penemue.
"¿And what is that?" The Cadre asked with the utmost interest.
"The spear hasn't moved in a thousand years, ¿why now?" Azazel jabbed the cigar over the ashtray to put it out. "I don't think it's a coincidence."
"On that we agree..." Penemue lowered her gaze, staring at her coffee.
"Back to the main topic, if it bothers you so much to stay up so late, remember that no one forced you to stay." The mocking tone returned to Azazel, causing Penemue to give him a dangerous look.
"In case you don't know, I'm always up at this late hour to do the work that a certain someone doesn't do. I can barely get four hours of sleep a day." The woman grumbled as she sipped her coffee.
"¿Is that why you drink so much coffee? Be careful with that, it might give you some wrinkles. I can recommend some cosmetic creams if you want." Azazel commented without any fear as he flipped the page of the newspaper.
"¿Do you really think I need any cosmetic creams?" Penemue put a hand to her perfect face after hearing those words.
"You need all of them." A nonchalant Azazel commented, causing a deadly aura to surround Penemue.
"¿I beg your pardon?" The look of ultratomb and her calm tone indicated that she was now very, very angry.
"¡It was just a joke!" Azazel exclaimed, showing a hint of nerves as he sensed that the woman might kill him at any moment.
¿Had he really gone that far? He only saw it as a bit of a joke.
To his luck, death had to wait a little longer for his arrival, as something unbelievable happened.
The two watched dumbfounded as the spear began to float out of nowhere with a faint flashing golden aura. The weapon slowly levitated until it left the vault, something that brought a smile to Azazel's face.
"Let's get going." The Cadre commented as he fixed his gaze on Penemue, who immediately turned serious.
"Sorry for calling at this hour, Michael..." Penemue placed a finger over the magic circle she materialized over her ear as she got ready to leave. "It's something urgent."
"¿What is it, sister? And don't worry about the timetable, remember it's already seven in the morning in Elysium." Michael's voice was heard through the magic circle.
"The spear woke up." Penemue's sudden words drew a slight gasp from the other side.
"¿¡What's that you say!?" The man sounded very agitated.
"If you don't mind, I think you and Dulio should see this." Penemue finished the remaining coffee in one gulp.
"Of course. We'll be right there." Michael's exasperated voice sounded much calmer, though the seriousness and tension was more than palpable.
Once the call was cut off, a big sigh emerged from Penemue's lips.
"The extra paperwork will be the least troublesome thing to come out of this..."
_ CHAPTER 9: ¡THE LEGEND OF THE MESSIAH! _
Raynare opened her eyes sleepily, then sat up on her bed as she rubbed her eyes wearily.
"¡So hot!" The Fallen Angel exclaimed, stretching her back like a feline, causing the sheets to fall and uncover her body.
She was wearing only a large white shirt with sleeves that was exaggeratedly oversized, so it covered every important part of her body. Or at least she was trying to, as her curvy figure was noticeably tight in the perfect spots, and as if that wasn't enough, the slight sweat on her body made the garment cling to her body.
In short, she looked very erotic. Something she would have easily noticed, if she wasn't much more focused on falling back to sleep.
"¿What time is it?" the woman wondered between yawns as she snuggled up to the edge of the bed.
Raynare's feet touched the floor with dead silence. Her sleepy face slowly turned around only to see a situation that helped to take more of the sleep out of her.
There lay Issei, the pillow between his legs, one of his hands touching the floor while his other arm stretched along the wall. Half of his shirt was pulled up and his mouth was open wide as he gave little snores. The sheets that once covered him were now strewn across the floor.
"I still don't understand how he can sleep like this..." Raynare's comment made it clear that this wasn't the first time she had seen him this way.
The smile soon emerged from her lips as she paused to look at him a little longer. After that, the Fallen Angel tucked him in with the sheets he had thrown off himself, causing his snoring to be interrupted in a funny way, but in the end he didn't wake up and all he did was hold the sheets with both hands.
Raynare had to hold back laughter at the sight of him sleeping like a baby. That thought didn't last much longer, as Issei's relaxed face caught her attention.
These were the few times when she could see that genuinely innocent expression on his face again.
Before everything happened, he always smiled and looked that way.
That thought made a remorseful smile cross her lips. One of her hands went to her chest with the intention of not letting those thoughts continue to hurt her. That action didn't work, but what she did next was enough to calm her.
The woman's soft hand ran down Issei's cheek. Feeling the warmth of his skin made her fear fall silent, and unbeknownst to her, a faint loving smile crossed her lips as she felt the silent fear now turn into a feeling of strange happiness.
She didn't understand why it made her feel happy, but she wasn't going to stop for that.
She continued to caress his cheek for a few more seconds until she stood up again and made her way to the window.
The strange feeling of happiness was gone, but at least that fear didn't return either.
At those thoughts, Raynare calmly lifted the window...
That calm didn't last two seconds, though.
The Fall stood to the side with wide eyes as she watched yesterday's spear come levitating through the window. The state of total bewilderment didn't allow her to react properly, so she only deigned to watch as the spear landed on Issei's chest calmly while the protagonist embraced it in his arms unconsciously.
"It's already clear that it's not mere chance." Raynare turned her face after hearing the voice of Azazel, who was flying along with Penemue.
"I noticed that already." Penemue nodded.
"¿Can you explain to me what the hell is up with that spear?" Raynare asked with narrowed eyes as she saw how the two most important Cadres were flying in front of her window.
"Before I explain, it would be best to wait for the other two." Azazel's answer only generated even more doubt in Raynare.
_ LINE BREAK _
Grigori
A few minutes later...
Issei wondered what he was doing in front of the fountain in Kuoh Square. He looked at his clothing, and found it even stranger when he saw that he was wearing clothes that right now it was impossible that he could have.
After all, he was sure that if Rias erased his parents' memories, then she should have taken care of throwing away all their belongings as well.
Before he could think any further about what was happening, a figure rushed past him. At that moment he realized what was happening.
"¿Do dreams want to play a trick on me?" Issei thought with a bored expression as he saw that it was Raynare, or rather, Yuuma.
"I want to ask you a favor..."
"Oh yeah, there's those words." Thought the brown-haired man with boredom, watching passively as the woman approached to whisper in his ear.
"¿Can I give you a kiss?"
Issei's eyes widened beyond belief.
She definitely shouldn't have said that.
Before he could even react, Raynare took his lips without warning.
That's right, she was no longer Yuuma, now she was Raynare.
Issei stood completely static not knowing what to do.
Raynare slowly parted, their lips were connected by a trickle of saliva. Issei was still not able to react, he was only able to feel that big shiver around his whole body.
It had all been fake.
He didn't feel her lips.
He didn't feel her embrace.
He didn't feel anything.
The only thing that lit up was his chest.
His whole body felt like a fucking volcano right now.
"What..." Before he could say another word, Raynare placed a finger over his lips.
"Wake up."
Issei opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was how Raynare was carefully shaking his body.
"We have visitors." Raynare spoke again, whereupon Issei tried to sit up, though he halfway stopped after noticing how something was pressing on his chest.
The chestnut said nothing, just gripped the spear with one hand as he cupped his head with the other. Frankly, his thoughts were more situated in the dream he'd had to the spear having returned to him.
"Precisely why they are here." Raynare thought Issei's confusion was due to the return of the spear, so the protagonist merely nodded awkwardly. "I'll leave you alone." Raynare closed the door, and Issei stood in that same puzzled position for several seconds, until he finally reacted.
"My mind sure knows how to fuck me with nightmares..." The chestnut muttered as he sat up in bed.
At that moment, interest returned to the main topic: the spear.
The chestnut watched her for a few seconds until he finally pushed her away to change.
Raynare passed out cups of coffee and cookies for the four guests, who only two of them nodded in appreciation for the welcome.
"You could use more caffeine." Penemue commented calmly as he set the cup down carefully on the table.
"Don't mind her. She's crazy on narcotics." Azazel said simply.
"Coffee is not a narcotic." Cadre refuted with a frown.
"Whatever you say." Azazel simply bowed his shoulders as he tasted his coffee.
"I see neither of you changed." A subject with long unruly blond hair chuckled as he crossed his legs on the table.
The guy was wearing an exorcist's outfit combined with casual attire. Basically, his carefree and cheerful attitude matched perfectly with his clothes that didn't match at all in color or meaning. And even though he looked like an exorcist, his aura hinted that he was an Angel, something he countered even more with his attitude.
"Hey, don't be rude!" The other, more serious and benevolent looking blond man grumbled at his companion's attitude. "I'm really sorry." The man lowered his head in apology.
This second guest was the complete opposite of his look-alike. His light blue eyes shone with great kindness and calmness, while his companion's green eyes gave off sympathy and liberality. His attire was also very different, as he possessed golden shoulder pads along with a red and white priest's robe that reflected all his faith in God. Although, without a doubt, what most characterized his figure was that golden halo that functioned as a crown on his head.
"Oh, don't worry." Raynare mimicked the action.
"¿How has heaven been treating you, Dulio?" Azazel asked, catching everyone's interest.
"¿What can I say? They all look so young but act like old geezers. If you don't believe me, just look at this guy." The now recognized as Dulio pointed at his companion cheekily. "It was just a joke." Dulio chuckled as he lowered his legs, resting his face on his hand the instant his elbow came to rest on the table. "True, it may be boring, but lately things are getting a bit hectic because of our dear and trusted friend Kokabiel."
"Unfortunately, that's not what we're meeting for today..." Penemue stated.
"Speaking of which, ¿where is the young man?" The other Angel asked with much curiosity.
"¿You were calling for me?" Issei just appeared on the stairs.
Michael's calm look changed dramatically when he saw that Issei was carrying the spear in one of his hands. So did Dulio, though he looked more curious than tense.
Issei did not overlook those looks, and the fact that they gave off an aura he found repulsive made the discomfort in his body increase to unsuspected levels.
"Hey, you're bothering the brat with those looks." Azazel's words made both Angels return to their normal appearance.
"Sorry, it's just that we find it rather fascinating that the spear recognized a Demon as its bearer, by name..." Dulio paused slightly, something Issei caught.
"Hyoudou Issei." The brown-haired man commented, finishing descending the stairs.
"¡Issei! ¡What a good name!" Dulio rushed over to the young man to grab his shoulders, something that startled him. "¿¡Can I call you Ise!? ¡I've always wanted a pet by that name!" The man's disclosures brought out a large bead of nervous sweat on the chestnut.
"Eh... no problem." The man's overwhelming personality didn't allow him to see that a few seconds ago he had compared him to a dog.
The other Angel cleared his throat, making Dulio realize his actions.
Ah, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It's just that I'm very impressed to know that after so many centuries this spear found its bearer. You are a most curious specimen." Dulio stated with a confident smile as he gave the chestnut some personal space.
"Hum, ¿thank you?" At that moment, Issei's expression changed. "Wait, ¿what do you mean by bearer?" The chestnut fixed his gaze on the spear.
"Just as you heard. But before that, I see we need to clear up a lot of things." Commented the other Angel with a condescending smile. "From what I see, you're a Reincarnated Demon and you don't know much about the past of the Supernatural Factions, ¿am I correct?" Issei gave a slight nod as he sat down next to Raynare, who also looked very curious about what was going on. "My name is Michael, I'm an Angel Seraphim. The one next to me is named Dulio Gesualdo, he's a reincarnated human under my hands." That impressed Issei, who watched the two Angels in utmost awe.
"That's why I felt so uncomfortable..." Issei thought, though he quickly realized something key. "¿What is a Seraphim?"
"They're the highest level that Angels can aspire to, sort of like the Cadres." Dulio gave the explanation, earning a nod from Issei.
"¿But why are you here? ¿Is it all because of this spear?" Issei placed the spear on the table, the dismissive way he referred to it made the boy's ignorance clear.
"You clearly have no idea what you have in your hands, brat." Azazel stated graciously, something that only confused Issei and Raynare even more.
"I'd rather the explanations didn't go on too long, so if I may..." Penemue looked at Dulio and Michael, who nodded in approval. "First of all, that spear is not just any spear. It was the first Longinus created by God, and it boasts incredible power." Those words surprised both Issei and Raynare, who only managed to stare at the spear.
"But, I heard that spear was nothing more than an old myth..." Raynare commented in utter disbelief.
"Well, you see it is real." Dulio commented with a smile seeing her reaction.
"That is the least important thing. We must recapitulate back to the war against the Greek Gods to clear everything up." Those words astonished Issei, who had no idea of such events.
"¿Were you at war with the Greek Gods?"
"Since the birth of Christ, if we seek to be more exact." Penemue answered in her own way, remembering those old times which were rather dark. "At that time Christianity was but a small river compared to the vast sea of Greek and Roman beliefs. God used a part of his body to give birth to Christ, and thus sought to expand the religion. The Greek Gods were always too egotistical and pedantic, so when they heard about the idea of God they immediately began to pull strings to execute Christ. They couldn't stand the idea of their power being taken away, even if it was only a tiny part of it." Penemue gave a slight sigh for a short pause. "We always tried to come to good terms, as did the other small beliefs that were developing at the time. Unfortunately, the selfishness of the Greeks blinded them and we were forced into a major confrontation when they killed Christ. Although attempts were made to maintain diplomatic relations, the reality is that everything broke down in a few decades, as the Christian faith began to rise despite the death of Christ. This also affected mortals, who fought among themselves to defend their beliefs. At first it was only the Christians, unfortunately there was a great difference in power that was only held by God, even the Three Factions united for the first and only time in their history in order to withstand the incessant attacks. At first everything indicated that Christianity would disappear, but the other faiths slowly united in our cause with the eagerness to overthrow the tyrants." Penemue paused slightly to pour herself some more coffee. "The divine struggle was fierce and lasted for centuries. In the meantime, the Goths, the Vandals, the Burgundians and among other factions began to invade the Roman Empire. The fighting was very even and seemed to have no end, until God and Chaos decided to end the war with a direct confrontation." Those words startled Issei.
"Wait, Chaos is..."
"That's right, Chaos was the Primordial God of the Greek Gods, one of the few that existed in this vast world." Penemue brought her gaze back to her coffee, her face hardening slightly at the memories. "It was a battle between two superior entities, never seen anything like it..." Penemue closed her eyes. "But in the end, only one of the two was victorious."
"God won, ¿didn't he? Otherwise, the Roman Empire would still be in control of the world." Issei commented, receiving a nod from Penemue.
"The fall of Chaos marked a before and after in the war. The Greek world was dealt a great blow and mortals began to doubt their own beliefs without knowing why. Faith eroded to such an extent that the Greek Gods began to weaken for lack of offerings, for that was what kept them strong. In the end we managed to strike a blow on the board that was definitive. We eradicated everything that had to do with the Greek world and that shook the mortal world. Since God was the one who struck the critical blow, all the Christian branches gained a bestial surge of belief and power that led them to wipe out Western Rome. In that way Christianity prevailed as the predominant faith to this day." Penemue finished the explanation, leaving a very thoughtful Issei.
"I didn't know that faith could make a person much stronger..."
"That was before." Penemue's words shocked him.
"¿What do you mean by that?" Asked a very confused Issei, and on this occasion, even Raynare was.
"I don't think this is my place." Penemue fixed her gaze on Michael, who suddenly became very serious.
"The young man needs to know, but she..." The Seraphim fixed his gaze on Raynare, who noticed this.
"If so, then I'm leaving..." Before she could get up, Azazel slammed the coffee cup down on the table hard.
"They are now part of my special team. They will do many missions together, missions that are likely to be very dangerous. I'm sure all members will find out the truth sooner or later." Azazel clarified with a relaxed smile, although his previous action did not show it.
"But..." Michael was somewhat reluctant.
"¡Come on! ¡You're the team that will accompany Ise on his adventures, you deserve to know too!" Dulio exclaimed with a toothy grin.
"I guess you're right..." Michael replied with slight hesitation. "To be honest, it's true that our Father won the battle, but it was obvious that a battle of such magnitude meant that neither of the two opponents got off scot-free." Those words shocked both of them.
"¿Are you saying what...?" This time, the one who spoke was Raynare.
"Exactly." Michael nodded with absolute seriousness. "At one point in the battle Chaos put a deep Curse on him to weaken him so he would have a better chance of winning. Luckily he couldn't succeed, but the Curse was so powerful that no one could do anything about it. In that way our Father's health began to be consumed until there was almost nothing left of him." Michael lowered his head in sadness and helplessness after the memories. "He already knew that he didn't have much time left, so he decided to seal his Holy Spirit with the eagerness that at least his power would still continue with us..." Michael was silent, his fists clenched even tighter.
"¿That-that means God is dead? ¿But how is it that faith could be sustained over all these centuries?" Issei asked, completely incredulous at what he was hearing.
It was simply something very hard to take in.
That entity that almost everyone admired was dead.
"I took care of that." Michael placed a hand over his chest for emphasis on his words. "Although the hole left by our Father is irreplaceable, that is why faith will never be the same as it once was. In fact, nothing will ever be the same again..." Michael commented sadly.
"Now I understand why they didn't want to tell me. If this ever spreads, it could be a real catastrophe in both the Supernatural and Mortal Worlds..." Raynare commented, knowing that the seriousness of the subject was far greater than anyone would have imagined.
"You are partly correct, though it would certainly affect mortals more." Azazel's words caught everyone's attention. "Many in the Supernatural World are already aware of this. Those who don't know about it are the new generations. Neither is allowed to divulge this information, I think either of us gets the idea of what the punishment could be." Azazel's final words sounded with his typical calmness, though the threat was more than clear.
"Don't worry, we'll just tell our team." Issei clarified seriously.
"¿Are those young men to be trusted?" Michael asked seriously.
"¡They already told you not to worry, old Michael!" Dulio exclaimed with a smile, causing his partner Angel to sigh.
"Back to the main topic..." Michael resumed speaking, returning to his seriousness. "Before he could seal his Holy Spirit, God spent his last moments of life to find a way to accomplish his task. The power to be stored was too great, so making a weapon from scratch that could contain such energy would take too much time, time he didn't have. For that very reason he made the decision to make some adjustments to the only weapon that would be able to contain that much power." Michael's eyebrows furrowed at what he was about to say:
"That weapon is the spear you're holding now."
Those words surprised Issei so much that he dropped the spear on the table.
"I-It can't be, he's a Demon. It's impossible for the spear to have chosen him as its bearer..." Raynare commented in utter astonishment.
"As old Michael said, the death of God led to many changes. Chief among them is that the Demons quite some time ago ceased to be Demons, so to speak. Sacred power, cursed power, many of those things were losing, or rather, changing their meaning over the generations." Dulio explained to them with a smile, then pointed to himself. "Look at me. I'm a Reincarnated Angel. To think that long ago a human could become an Angel was impossible." Concluded the man with a toothy grin.
"Also, you should keep something in mind, Hyoudou..." Michael resumed speaking, a gentle smile creeping onto his face. "If the spear chose you, it was because you have and will have a sinless soul."
"Hum, now that's a bit debatable..." Raynare commented with a sly smile, making Issei blush with embarrassment.
"¡It's true I have some bad habits, but I never did anything wrong!" The brown-haired man defended himself as best he could.
"If you say so..." Declared her future lover, that smile still not leaving her face.
"Of course! Just so you see, I recently broke a record!" Issei exclaimed still blushing.
"¿A record?" wondered an interested Michael, who grabbed the coffee cup.
"¡Exactly!" Issei stood up and placed a foot on the table. "¡I haven't thought about touching a pair of boobs in over two weeks!" Those words made Michael choke on his own drink, while Dulio fell to the floor and started laughing like he was fucking crazy.
"¡Michael, this boy fills me with pride!" Dulio exclaimed, who stood up, giving a thumbs up in approval towards Issei, who just rubbed his hair in embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Raynare was doing his best to hold in laughter, Penemue had a small twitch in her eyebrow and Azazel was simply smirking.
"That's great progress, Issei." Raven stated calmly, causing Issei to cry his eyes out.
"Thank you for being the only one to recognize my effort, boss." Declared the brown revitalized.
"Hum, ¿seriously this young man is going to be the Messiah?" Michael's question made everyone calm down.
"¿What do you mean by that?" Issei asked with utmost curiosity.
"It is said that the one who becomes the spear bearer will become the Messiah. That became more like a legend or myth over time, due to the spear disappearing for many centuries, though the truth was that we kept it hidden among the 4 of us." Michael explained, receiving an awkward nod from Issei.
"Still, I find all this hard to believe..." Issei commented with great doubt as he looked at the spear.
"We don't want to force you, Issei. But there is no time to doubt." Azazel's words not only impressed Issei, but everyone present. "The spear was kept hidden for a reason. Many wanted the great power it contained for their own benefit. Even if it was that the spear did not allow them to control the Holy Spirit, the reality was that it was still the strongest Longinus in the world." The Cadre stated earnestly, something rare for him. "That is why you must not hesitate. If you do, your new enemies who crave power will not hesitate to snatch the spear from you and kill you."
"But..." Issei had the intention of saying something, but just then the spear began to levitate with a golden glow until it fell between his legs.
"It looks like the spear is pretty sure it wants you as its master. You'd better not disappoint it." Stated Penemue, who was sipping from the coffee calmly.
"¿You wanted something to save them, didn't you?" Raynare's sudden words not only caught Issei's attention, but also the two Angels.
"I..." Issei looked at the spear, his gaze slowly turning serious. "You're right, this is a unique opportunity." The spear emitted a small glow after hearing the words of its new wielder, as if it was responding to him.
"Sorry to interrupt, ¿but who do you want to save?" A rather interested Michael asked.
"Actually, it's kind of complicated..." Issei's gaze fell noticeably. "They took my parents away from me." Those words made even the ever-smiling Dulio lose his smile. "It's true that almost everything was due to that heartless bastard, but they certainly aren't blameless. Still, no one deserves to be used, despised, and even..." Issei decided to pause, knowing that the following words might be taken badly by the two beings in front of him.
"Go on." Michael indicated that he didn't mind listening to him, that kind smile on his face showed it.
"Never mind that." Issei stood up, slinging the spear over his shoulder. "If they were my friends, if they were my family, if they were strangers, and even if they were people who were wronged in the worst way..." Issei closed his eyes deeply.
"None of that matters to me."
Those words surprised everyone.
"Almost everyone in this world deserves another chance, and I will see to it that those few people who deserve to be punished don't continue to hurt anyone else. I will give my best to save those people who were treated unfairly by life, just as they saved me." Issei fixed his gaze on Azazel, who just replied with a smile.
"Wow..." Dulio had to say he was impressed, he showed it with his unusual posture and that snicker that emerged from his lips. "I guess this is what you were looking for from the Messiah, ¿isn't it, little Michi?" The Angel fixed his gaze on his friend, who looked very happy about what he had heard.
"I guess I worried unnecessarily..." The Angel Leader commented with a calm smile. "By the way, ¿could you stop giving me those weird nicknames?" That question seemed to offend Dulio.
"¿Why? They're hilarious."
_ END OF CHAPTER! _
(OR NOT)
Don't forget to read the final scene below!
I think the ideas of this fanfic are getting clearer little by little. It was a chapter with a lot of lore, I know, but the next ones will surely be more lively (especially because the introduction of a character that many are waiting for is coming).
As I always say, I hope you enjoyed it, and this time we'll be seeing each other soon for the continuation of this story.
See you in three days!
Issei watched from the dining room as Azazel, Penemue and Michael were talking about a couple of things in the living room. That attention was diverted elsewhere as he felt someone sit down next to him.
"¿What are you going to do?" Raynare asked him with interest.
"First sleep, I'm dying of sleep." The brown-haired man stated with tired eyes.
"Wow, and here I thought all the new information was going to leave you more awake than ever." Declared Dulio, who sat down next to him.
"That logic works for both ends." Declared the protagonist, giving a big yawn at the end.
"I see, it's normal to feel quite a bit of pressure when such a large task is thrust upon you..." Declared the Angel with a smile, then resting his chin on his knee, opting for a somewhat odd posture. "Since you're my Kohai, I can give you a couple of tips if you'd like." Those words confused Issei.
"While I appreciate your willingness, I certainly don't think you can help me understand this weapon." Replied the brown-haired man, doing his best not to offend him.
"No, no, no. You're wrong on that point." The man stated with his ever-smiling smile as he waved his index finger back and forth for emphasis on his words.
"¿What do you mean?" Issei asked very curiously, causing Dulio's smile to sharpen.
Definitely neither Issei nor Raynare expected such an answer.
"I was the only person who used that spear."
