Chapter 5: Bonfires and expecting
2 month later
Bella groaned as she investigated the mirror.
Four bites.
Four freaking giant bites on her body.
Not that she was complaining but it was noticeable. One sat on her right shoulder, the second was on her left and… well between her legs on each inner thigh were huge bite marks.
She knew Sam was kinky, but she hadn't expected him to be… this, kinky and dominant.
Maybe it was a wolf thing?
Shaking her head, she realized it was just another question without an answer.
After a nice shower, Bella put on a sweater and skinny jeans with her favorite converses.
It had now been 2 months since Edward left and it wasn't easy. She was still adjusting to him not being around.
Five years of the unchanging seventeen-year-old virgin.
Bella snorted; he'd surely have a coronary if he knew all the panty dropping positions Sam had put her in.
Just the thought of her wolf made Bella shiver she-
"BELLA! HURRY UP!" a voice shouted making her jump.
"Im coming Emily!" she shouted back
Bella chuckled as her step cousin rushed her. Apparently, Bella had been away from home for too long and her family sent Emily as the one to round her up. At every chance she got Bella avoided going home. It wasn't because she didn't love her family but… forks and la push just had way too many memories. She called her parents practically every day, but they were obviously not buying it. Not to mention that Emily was Jacob's girlfriend, but the relationship was… weird. Emily had been with Jacob's brother Embry and then almost overnight, Emily and embry broke up and Emily started dating Jacob. And it had been intense. But what disturbed her most was that no one except for her dad had been concerned. Almost as if they knew something she didn't. Bella had been confused but willing to listen. Embry himself didn't seem upset. He had said that everything happened for a reason, and he wasn't concerned. However, it was still awkward. And she didn't want to shut out her family over something she clearly had no insight on.
However, now that she had Sam and had seen him phase and his wolf… she knew. Her friends and family on the reservation were not fully human. Just from being with Sam and seeing the similarities between him and her friends. It all made sense. Her friends were wolves.
"Bella! Don't make me come in there and drag you by your hair!" she roared.
"Im coming em!" she answered in annoyance.
As soon as she tied her shoes, she made her way out of the bathroom.
"Well, my lord, you look… sexy." Emily purred as put the magazine she was reading down.
"Um thanks, I guess. So let me go grab my keys."
"Oh no you don't young lady just because you have two arms now doesn't mean your driving besides, that will just give you a chance to drive off into the night again." Emily chided as she ushered them both out of the apartment.
"What? how did you- did dad tell everyone? I just didn't want to be a burden!" Bella defended.
Emily rolled her eyes.
"Bella you will never be a burden to this family. We love you and family takes care of each other! You can't just leave when things get hard! Unlike those ungrateful snobby Cullen's, we won't leave you just because things aren't perfect… !"
Bella was quiet as Emily rebuked her. As much as she wanted to make an excuse, her cousin was right.
"Thanks Em…"
"Your welcome, now come on I already put your bags in the car. So, drinks with friends and then we will head out for the bonfire. This ones special. Everyone is going to be there! Besides you missed the last one we had "
"Everyone?" Bella questioned.
"Yes! All the guys! And the elders! Tonight's the night chief black tells the legends! Let's go!"
Bella smiled at her excitement.
It didn't take long for the two girls to find the awaiting group of loud young adults asking for more drinks.
"Bella! Emily!" mike loudly greeted as he pulled her and Emily into a drunken hug.
"Hey mike, already drinking without me huh!" Emily laughed.
Bella shook her head at her cousin's excitement. growing up, Bella had been a tomboyish shadow amongst her sister and cousin, but they didn't care, they dragged her along with them everywhere they went. But out of the three Emily was the most extreme. She never said no to a challenge and most of all never said no to a drink.
Out of the three of them Bella was always the more careful one, however, it was funny how things could change.
"Bella! Emily!" Jessica and Angela greeted.
"Hey guys!" Emily laughed as Jessica pulled the latter into her lap.
It was funny how her group of friends became so attached to her cousin. One day during Bella's freshmen year, Emily and Leah had driven down to surprise her but at the time she had been in her dorm with her group of friends. They didn't care, Emily and Leah sat right down with them, and the rest was history.
"So, what's everyone drinking?" Emily asked from Jessica's lap.
"Beer for me!" mike shouted "Wine… !" Jessica cheered.
"Margarita!" Angela chirped.
"Well then, I guess I will have a rum and coke. Bella what do you want? my treat." Emily asked her Bella hitched an ear to her shoulder as she responded.
"I'll just have Pepsi, no ice."
Her friends groaned. If only they knew why she wasn't drinking.
Flashback:
Bella sighed in relief as she walked into the Seattle hospital. It was finally time to remove her cast and she was so grateful.
"Hello. Isabella swan clearwater here for a cast removal." She told the nurse. As soon as her parents got married, all their children had gotten both last names added. They didn't want any confusion as to whom they belonged to. At first Bella hated it but sue had shown her nothing but love. She was proud to have it now.
The nurse did some typing and then smiled.
"Yes, here we have you MS swan clearwater… you wouldn't happen to be related to sue clearwater would you?" the nurse questioned
"Oh! Yes, that's my mom!" Bella said excitedly
"Really? I thought she only had two kids?" the nurse said as she looked at Bella strangely.
"She does but she married my dad a long time ago."
"Oh! I see. Well then, it's nice to see the new addition! Now, let's go get you sorted."
Bella smiled as they went through the same routine since she was a child. With her clumsiness she had been in the doctor's office more than anyone.
After they did all the small things, Bella sat kicking her legs on the cold office bed.
There was knock and then her doctored entered, cast saw in hand. "Hello Bella, how are you today?" Dr. Hector asked
"Im good doctor Hector, ready for this bear trap to come off."
Dr. Hector laughed but his smile didn't reach his eyes. Something was wrong.
"Dr. Hector is something wrong?"
Dr Hector shook his head.
"Not necessarily Bella let's get this cast off and then we will talk."
Ok, now she was nervous, but she held still as a nurse held her hand and the doctor removed her cast.
Once the cast was off Doctor Hector made her do a few hand exercises and then had her move her shoulder. When she moved her shoulder, she winced.
"Uh oh." Dr. Hector hummed.
"no. no more cast Dr. Hector. Its just a little sore." Bella pleaded Doctor snow sighed.
"Well, your arm is healed but your shoulder is not. Your going to put it in a sling which means no pressure on that shoulder. So no carrying a backpack. Try something on wheels. Now, let me check your lungs."
After a moment, of listening to her lungs, Dr. Hector nodded.
"Well, the pneumonia is gone and that's good. We'll just keep an eye on your lungs and shoulder. From your records you seem to be accident prone."
Bella nodded. Everyone knew that.
"Ok. that's all for the exam. Now for the next part."
With that said, Dr. Hector dismissed the nurse from the room and sat on stool.
The look on his face serious as he flipped through his charts.
"Bella tell me, are you sexually active?"
She was not prepared for that question but after all the years of saying no, she could finally say yes.
"yes."
"And do you use protection?"
"I normally get the shot but because of the incident. -"
"You mean the trauma." Dr. hector corrected.
Bella sighed as she admitted to it. Edward leaving her in the freezing rain and breaking her arm was a trauma, but she was not a victim.
"Yes… after the traumatic incident, I neglected to get it. Why is everything al- "
Bella froze. Right now, her doctor was asking her about sex and protection. She hadn't gotten her shot last month… for the past two months she and Sam had had sex without restraint. Sam was wolf. A feral wolf who had no thought about condoms which meant…
"Dr. Hector are you… are you sure" she questioned.
"Well, from the blood work Bella im positive. You… are pregnant…" It took a minute for Bella o speak but Dr. Hector beat her to it.
"I understand this is surprising. And there are options. Take a few weeks and we will schedule an appointment. Oh and be careful with the rough sex, bite marks may seem fun but they can become infected."
End flashback
"Oh, come on! Bella! Why do you always have to be a stick in the mud!" Jessica groaned "Because you guys will need a designated driver after this, and may I remind you that I am the only with a real I.D" she hissed Because all of them were either nineteen or twenty none of them were legal to drink but her friends didn't care, they got their fake I. D's anyway.
Of course, that shut them all up.
Jacob Black frowned as he stared at the clock. It was 8:30 and his imprint wasn't here.
He knew she went to pick up Bella and hang out with some friends but that was back at twelve. It only took fours hours to drive from la push to Seattle.
Maybe he should call her again. It was still weird. Five years ago, Emily had been his brothers girlfriend. They had been happy and then as soon as he and his brother sprouted fur, everything changed.
The elders said imprinting was supposed to create better wolves but that didn't mean it was a good thing. Relationships had been torn apart when it came to imprinting but what hurt most was how easy Embry had accepted it. He knew, they all knew being a wolf had its consequences and being with a wolf was dangerous.
But one good thing is that most of the guys didn't let imprinting bother them. Most of them just causally dating with no strings attached. So far only three wolves had imprinted. Jared, Paul, and him. That left Embry, Quill, Seth, and Leah with no imprint. Truthfully, he prayed that would be the last of it.
"Oh my gosh bro will you quit worrying." His brother said as he threw a warm soda at him. "Emily and Bella will be here soon. im sure they just got carried away. You know how Emily is when she gets with that group from forks. She's wild. And only Bella can tame her. So chill. Besides Dad will have our heads if we don't get this fire started. I can hear people arriving."
"Why do you always have to be so rational embry."
"Cause im the smart brother."
"Yeah, smart my - "
Jacob didn't get to finish his insult because embry threw another soda at him.
But with his reflexes, Jacob caught it just in time.
"Hey! Hey! hey! The party has arrived!"
Both Jacob and Embry looked up to see quill and Paul strutting in as if they owned the place.
"Lame!" Jacob and embry said in unison
"Jerks." Paul said as he stuck his tongue out at him. "We have the hot dogs. All freaking forty-eight of them, which I think still won't be enough."
"Yeah, well make your complaints to senior and Charlie there the ones throwing them on the grill. Jared should be bringing the burgers. There will be fifty of those."
"Yesh… you guys know we are wolves, right? Fifty and forty-eight are not good numbers between the seven of us."
Jacob sighed and shook his head.
"Guys we will be fine."
"Yeah, sure we will. Were all gonna starve…" quill groaned.
Before Jacob knew it the elders, pack and some of the families that were in the know showed up.
It was still strange having Charlie in the know. Jacob knew his father had done everything in his power to keep his best friend from the truth, but he failed. And Jacob could understand both sides. His father wanted to prevent any vampires being near Charlie and at the same time, Charlie should have known. His daughter had dated one of them for five years, if he had known… maybe his best friend wouldn't have been left for dead and broken hearted "Jake…"
Jacob looked up to see Paul, his eyes full of concern.
"Bella's… supposed to be here, right? Didn't Charlie and sue send Emily to get her?"
"Yeah. I was just thinking about her."
"Who? Emily or Bella?" Paul questioned.
"Both. The Bonfires about to start and neither of them are here… I tried calling her earlier, but she didn't answer."
"Well, you would feel if she was in danger through the imprint bond. So I say give them some more time."
"Yeah, easy for you too say, your imprint is here." Jacob grumbled as he motioned to his sister putting the desserts on the table.
"How do you think Bella's going to take the whole wolf thing?"
"Well, she dated a vampire this shouldn't change anything."
"But… we lied to her." Paul questioned. "I mean all the times we had to exclude her because it was a protectors meeting only."
Jacob sighed
"Look man, I didn't make the rules. Whatever happens tonight happens maybe it will help her stay away from the leeches…"
Leah clearwater didn't give her sister a chance to turn the engine off as she snatched her up in a bear hug.
"Bell! Where the heck have you been! I swear the next time you leave in the middle of the night you need to warn a women! Don't worry Bella! im am going to castrate the whole Cullen family!"
Her sister giggled as she hugged Leah a little tighter
"Thanks Leah but im… doing better… no need for castration. Sorry were late… someone… got sidetracked…"
Both sisters looked over to see Emily in a heavy make out session with Jacob.
"Hey! Get a room." Leah growled.
She felt Bella jump at the sound and Leah cursed herself for not being careful.
Emily and Jacob broke apart to smile at Leah.
"Oh, come on lee Lee, a girl has to have her lacy panties… which im wearing… now…" she mumbled to Jacob.
Leah made a gaging sound and once again, felt her sister flinch in her arms.
"Hey you, ok?"
"…. just… can I talk to you in the house? I know the bonfire has probably started but-"
"no. your fine. We can talk. Lets go. Jacob, Emily you guys go ahead. Bell and I will be there soon. start without us!"
With that said Leah carried her sister, back to their house. Of course, she didn't question it, because ever since Leah phased, she had been carrying her sister. And when her sister asked how and why, Leah always said she just had a strict workout routine but tonight that would all change.
It wasn't long before their home came into the distance and Leah sat her sister down, allowing her to walk the rest of the way.
"Ok. talk im all ears." She said, as she handed Bella a bottle of green tea and they both hopped up on the kitchen counter.
"You know if mind were to see us, she have a cow." Bella told her "Yeah, well mom is preoccupied with aunt joy, so talk. You've been avoiding everything and everyone like the plague. And no matter how many times you called; we knew you were faking it."
"I've never been a good liar…" Bella admitted.
Leah smiled at her sister.
"No sis you haven't. now… talk. I won't interrupt… I promise."
There was a moment of silence before her sister finally spoke.
"… well first things first… I know… that you're a wolf. That all the guys are. That you all transform into one. don't ask me how… I just put it together."
"Was it that obvious?" Leah asked a little surprised.
Bella shrugged her shoulders.
"Kind of. So, there's that… but that's not… I mean it doesn't change anything…"
"ok, so what's up… I mean… darn it Bella, how are you handling Edward and the Dracula family just up and leaving?"
The answer that came next was not what Leah was expecting.
"I think Im handling better… since I got pregnant."
