Summary: Rebecca is a young woman who is having a hard time finding a decent job. She gets an offer she cannot refuse, which has her end up in a strange, very alien world, that changes her life forever.
Inside an office, a young woman was at an interview. She had pink hair tied in a long braid, an hourglass figure with large breasts and wide hips. This is our main character, Rebecca. Currently, she was wearing a business dress, trying to look her best to appease to the woman sitting by the desk.
"So then, Miss Riku." Said the other woman.
"Oh, Miss Riku was my mother. Just call me Rebecca." The pinkette politely said.
"Rebecca," The other woman replied. "You have a very impressive report card and resume. Graduated with the highest score at your college. You are clearly a very hard working individual." She said and Rebecca smiled, feeling confident about this. "However," She added, which make Rebecca's smile drop, "you have only graduated very recently. And this position requires more than just really good grades. It also requires experience. So I'm not so sure-"
"No, please! I really want this job!" Rebecca cried out, looking desperate. "I am tired of working at the coffee shop! Can't you find me anything! Whatever it is, I'll do it! I'll start of as a janitor if I have to!" She pleaded.
The other woman gave her a stoic look and looked down at Rebecca's resume. "Well, uh … We do have an internship available. But three others are looking for this position as well. Plus, your first year would just be working for the CEO's secretary. At best, you'd be brewing coffee for your boss. You'd have to put in a lot of effort to impress them enough to give you a higher position."
"I'll take it!" Rebecca cried out, looking hopeful. "I'm fine with starting at the bottom of the barrel. I'll be able to work my way up to management."
The other woman looked at Rebecca with a somewhat impressed look on her face. "Hm … The other three weren't this enthusiastic about the position I'm offering. They wanted a higher position. As if they have earned it yet. You know what? You can have it." She said and Rebecca's face lit up. "I must warn you though, this position is out of town. Like way out of town. I suggest you pack everything you own."
"No worries." Rebecca replied. "I don't owe much actually. I can move pretty soon. I just need to find a place to stay."
"I'll arrange a living quarter for you. People working for this company do get that luxury at least. Even the ones at the very bottom." The secretary replied.
"Really? Oh, thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!" Rebecca cried out, taking the woman's hands in her own and jumping up and down with joy.
"Settle down, before I change my mind!" She told her.
"Sorry," Rebecca said, pulling her hands away, smiling nervously at her. "Just got carried away in the excitement."
"I have your number. I'll give you a call when the proper arrangements have been done." The secretary said.
"Great!" Rebecca replied with a lot of enthusiasm. "I'll hear from you then." She said and went to the exit. But she threw the woman at the desk one last glance and said, "I don't know how to thank you." And then walked out the door.
"Oh," The secretary said, smiling after Rebecca left. She then suddenly transformed, changing her skin color to a greyish blue, her hair black and her eyes glowing yellow. Her attire equally black. And her body became wavy. Almost like smoke. "I'm sure we'll figure out how." She said with a wicked grin.
A week later, Rebecca finds herself at the airport. Indeed, she had very little material possession, as she only had two suitcases with her. She walked over to small passenger plane, where a pilot holding up a sign her name on it was waiting for her.
"Hi! I'm Rebecca." She happily said.
"Good morning, Becky. I'll be yer pilot for this evening. Name's H.M. Murdoch." The pilot introduced himself. He was skinny fella with brown short hair, a baseball cap and a classic brown pilot jacket. He went over and took Rebecca's suitcases. "I'll take that fer ya. Why won't you make yourself comfortable?" He gestured to the plane.
Smiling at him, Rebecca went inside and took a seat. Soon enough, Murdoch enters the plane. "This is so exciting. I've never traveled by plane before." She said, looking a bit nervous. But excited none the less.
"Well you know what they say. First flight is always the one you remember the most. Especially when you travel with H.M. Airlines." Murdoch said with a big, almost maniacal, grin, then shut the door.
"Right," Rebecca replied, feeling a bit uneasy. "By the way, if you don't mind me asking, what does the H M in your name stand for?"
As Murdoch made his way to the cockpit, he stopped, slowly turned his head, giving her a mad smile and says "Howling Mad." He replied and went into the cockpit.
Rebecca now looked nervous and gulps. "I hope this was a good idea."
"Ladies and ladies, this is your captain speaking." Murdoch's voice echoed in the radio. "We'd like to thank you for choosing Howling Mad Airlines. Please put on your seat belts, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the flight. Oh, and don't mind the giant flying monsters." He said.
"What?" Rebecca said, raising an eyebrow. This guy really didn't seem alright in the head. Well, it was too late to change her mind now, as the engine started and they took of. "I really hope this was a good idea." She said, looking unsure.
Several hours passed and Rebecca looked out the window, where there was nothing but a vast jungle as far as the eye can see.
"Wow. How big is this jungle? We've been flying for hours and there's nothing but a wide forest." Rebecca commented.
"Well, it isn't called the endless forest for nothing." Murdoch told her from the cockpit.
"Never heard of that place before," Rebecca commented.
"Really? That surprises me." Murdoch replied. "Didn't you get the full details about your traveling arrangement?"
"Well, I kinda just took the job without asking too much questions." Rebecca replied and looked out the window again … and then a big pterodactyl like creature flew past them. "… Eh," Rebecca said, eyes wide, pupils small and her face turning pale. "KYAAAAA!" She cried out and rushed over to the cockpit, throwing herself at Murdoch. "The-the-the-the-there's a flying monster outside!" She cried out in terror.
"Oh that?" Murdoch said. "Don't be a worry wart. Aerodactyls may be carnivores. But they do not attack anything as big as old Betsy here." He assured, patting the dashboard. "Just sit back down and relax. We still have a long trip."
"How can I relax after seeing what I just saw?!" Rebecca cried out, still clinging onto him.
"Panicking doesn't help," Murdoch replied. "And like I said, it won't bother us. So please, miss, return to your seat. Aside from some turbulence, it's nothing but smooth sailing." He assured.
"How can you be so calm after seeing that-that … thing?" Rebecca asked, baffled.
"Thing? Now, now, Miss Becky. It isn't very nice to refer to them as things. They're just animals doing what they their instincts tells them." Murdoch told her.
Giving up, Rebecca did as she was told and went back to her seat. She curled up into a ball and looked out the window, keeping an eye out for whatever could be out there. As the hours went by, the sun was beginning to set. And Rebecca's eyelids with it. Once night came, she was fast asleep.
"Rebecca," She then heard Murdoch's voice, who was shaking her awake. She stirred in her sleep. Her eyes were then half open and she saw a blurry vision of Murdoch next to her. "We're here. Take yer time waking up. I'll go get your luggage for ya. Oh, and you have a welcoming committee. Your new coworkers and roommate." He said before heading outside.
Rebecca stretched, letting lose a few kinks in her body. She yawns and rubs her eyes. She gets up and stretches her back. "Aw, man. I forgot how uncomfortable it is to sleep, sitting up." She commented. "Well, time to meet the new people in my life and start a new. Let's put on a good first impression" She said with much enthusiasm. She went outside the plane, a beaming smile on her face and said, "Hello. My name is-"
"SURPRISE!" Her new coworkers cried out, giving her the same smile as she had. Only, her smile dropped the moment she saw them… For none of them appeared human…
The one up front was an enormous dog of some kind. I mean, a really big canine. It was the size of a large horse, orange fur with black stripes, with white fur on the face, chest, a big white mane and a big bushy white tail.
Another member of this party was far weirder looking. It was a big yellow round floating creature of some sort. It had one gigantic eye that covered the majority of it's face, a big mouth and a tail that it was balancing on.
Then there was a porcupine looking creature. It had thick spikes on it's back and razor sharp blades for arms, and a long tail.
There was also another canine looking creature in the group. Only she appeared humanoid, standing on two legs and had arms. She had grayish fur, silver hair and a bushy tail. She was dressed like a goth and had her nose fixed on her phone.
And then there was a blue … pony, with wings, rainbow colored mane and tail…
But even more unsettling, there was a … spider like creature. She had the body of a regular woman. But it was attached to the backside of a spider. That includes all eight creepy legs. What's more, this spider woman had eight eyes. Red glowing eyes, making her look more terrifying.
Then there was a creature with human like feature. Except, he had four arms with three fingers on each, two toes on each foot, a duck like face and sported wrestler like trunks.
Also, there was a dinosaur among them. A raptor of some kind. A big one with a blue spot on her eye.
The closest to a human that was there was a young blonde man, dressed like a fairy tale character, sporting a bright green outfit. The only thing about him that stood out was his pointy ears, making him look like an elf.
Rebecca just stood there, frozen in shock at the group of strange creatures before her, not saying a word, while they were all smiling at her.
"Hello," Said the giant orange dog as he walked up to her, giving her a smile. "Welcome to the jungle. Well, it's not really a jungle. But it might as well could be." He said, freaking Rebecca out even more. "My name is Arcanine. But you can call me Arcy. Everyone does."
"Wow. She's super skinny." The four armed creature said, raising her arms, examining her. "I'll introduce you to the gym at the company later. Put some muscles on those bones."
"Knock it of, Machamp." Said the blue pegasus creature, pushing him away. "Never mind him," She told Rebecca. "He's just a muscle head obsessed with working out and getting everyone else to workout."
Rebecca still didn't say anything. She was just being overwhelmed by everything going on around her. She then shivered when she felt something long, hard and cold wrap around her shoulder.
"I for one am glad to see such a cutie join our ranks." Said the spider woman, who bulled Becky into her body. "Hello, Rebecca. My name is Rachnera. We are gonna be such good friends, you and I."
"Don't force it, woman. Let her decide for herself if she wants to be your friend." Spoke the porcupine. "Name's Sandslash. Put it there." He said, extending his razor sharp hand. And then he chuckled. "Just kidding. Breaking the ice and all."
"Guys, quit it. Can't you see she's being overwhelmed." Arcy told them, pushing Rachnera away. "Sorry about that, Miss." He told Rebecca. "Anyway, welcome to your new home."
Silence filled the air as Rebecca just stood there, looking totally flabbergast. She was silent for several minutes while most of them just starred at her with smiles…
"EEEEEEEEEEKKK!"
She surprised everyone with her scream of terror before running away, confusing them even more.
"What the-?" Arcy said, raising an eyebrow as she watched her run.
"That's a new reaction." Sandslash said.
"Miss, wait up!" Arcy said and ran after her.
'W-w-w-w-what is going on here! What are those things?!' Rebecca thought, as she ran for dear life, her mind going at 500 mph.
"Rebecca! Watch where you're going!" Arcy shouted.
"Stay away from me!" She told him, looking over her shoulder, not realizing she was heading towards cliff side. She managed to stop herself just as her foot hit the edge, but she was stumbling forward, flaying her arms around as she tried to throw herself backwards. But it was too late and she fell forward. Luckily for her, Arcy had reached her and bit onto the hood of her jacked. Now she got a good view of the scene below. It was a city, filled with even more strange creatures. "What in the world," She said, totally in shock. "This isn't really. I gotta be dreaming!" She cried out before she was pulled back.
She landed in Arcy's front paws. "Hey, are you alright? What's wrong with you?" He asked, looking down at her. She didn't say anything as she looked up at him with wide eyes and tiny pupils. And then she passed out.
"Okay, what the fuck is going on here?" The female anthro goth asked.
After a while, Rebecca started to come to it. She slowly opened her eyes and realized she was laying on a hospital bed in a small hospital room.
"Oh hey, you're awake. Good." Someone said.
"Where am I?" She wondered.
"You're in the hospital wing of Khan Industries." The voice said.
"Khan Industries? That's the firm I got my internship at." Rebecca said, still laying down and looking up the ceiling.
"That's right," Said the voice. "You passed out at the airport and you were brought here for treatment. My name is Tony Chopper. I'm the doctor at the hospital wing at this company."
"Oh? Thank you Doctor Chopper." Rebecca said, rubbing her eyes.
"No need for formalities. Just call me Chopper." The doc said.
"Okay. Thank … Chopper. Man, I had such a weird dream about a bunch of weird people." She said, sitting up. "No offense. But you sound like a bit kid like."
"Yeah, I get that a lot." Said a tinny anthro deer like creature with a red top hat and red shorts. "But don't worry. I am a very certified doctor. Mr. Khan only hires the best." Rebecca's eye twitched at the sight of the deer like child. "Shall we check and see that you don't have any brain damage then?" Chopper said, holding up a tiny flashlight.
"KAY!" She cried out, startling Chopper, as Rebecca leaped from the bed and rushed to the exit. Only she ram face first into something firm and fuzzy. She pulled back and started spitting out hair that got caught in her mouth. She looked up and saw Arcy standing there in the doorway, giving her a concerned look.
"Are you feeling better, Miss?" He asked.
"Nononononono!" She said, placing her hands on her head, getting a panic attack. "This … this is all just a dream. A really weird dream. That's it. Hehe. It was that leftover pizza I ate for lunch that's making me dream all this. I'll wake up soon and everything will be back to normal. Come on, Becky. Wake up already. Wake up, wake up, wake up!" She said, tapping her head, eyes shut tight. She then opened one eye and looked in the direction Arcanine was at. And sure enough, he was still there.
"Miss, I can assure you, this is not a dream." He told her. "This is really happening. We are all really here."
Rebecca's eye twitched and then she groans. "Okay, I give up. Please tell me what's going on here."
"Funny. I was gonna ask you the same thing." Arcanine replied. "Were you not informed about us? About what we are?"
"No!" Rebecca cried out. "All I was told was that I'd be leaving the country for an internship! Nobody said anything about, about … Well, whatever it is you guys are!" She rambled.
Arcy looked even more confused now. But he also looked understandable. "I see. That explains your reaction. But what's even more confusing is that you weren't made aware of how different our world is to yours."
"Yeah … You'd think that would be something you tell a girl." Rebecca replied.
Arcy sighs. "We better inform your boss about this. Follow me." He told her.
Reluctantly, Rebecca did as she was told. She followed closely beside him as they walked through the hallways, which was filled with a variety of different creatures. Some were humanoid with animalistic or demonic features. Others just looked like animals. She then looked back to Arcanine, starring at him.
"What? I got something on my face?" He asked, noticing her starring at him.
"Oh, sorry. It's just … I've never seen a dog as big as you." She replied.
"Believe me, there're much bigger beings around here." He told her. They reached a door where there was desk by the side. And sitting by the desk was the goth anthro from the airport. "Hey, Loona." Arcy said. "Our new coworker is awake and is ready for her interview with the boss."
"Then go on inside. I don't really care." The anthro named Loona said, just looking at something on her computer.
"Get used to her attitude," Arcy told Rebecca. "She's like this to everyone. She's even worse to her adopted father."
"Eat my ass," Loona hissed at him.
"I just might later," Arcy replied, giving her a wolfish grin before escorting Rebecca through the door. The office inside was enormous. Very fancy, decorated with statues, plants and a few couches and coffee table at the center. At the very end of the room, which was a giant glass window, overseeing the city, was a desk. And on that desk sat another anthro. A tiger man, dressed in a fancy suit. He was currently typing on the keyboard to his computer, heeding no attention to two who walked over to the desk. "Excuse me, Mr. Khan. The new intern is here."
The anthro named Khan stopped his work and looked at the two. Specifically, he looked at Rebecca. "Miss Riku I presume?" He said with a stoic tone that matched his stoic expression. This guy had a total no nonsense attitude to him. Rebecca didn't say anything. She just gulped and nodded. Khan then gestured to one of the chairs. "Please, have a seat." He said and she sat down. "I was informed you cause a bit of a commotion back at the airport."
"There's actually a good explanation to that, sir." Arcy replied.
"I'm sorry. Are you the one being interviewed?" Khan asked.
"N-no sir." Arcy replied, taken back a bit.
"Then let the young miss speak for herself. You may be her guardian. But she's still an adult. You may speak when spoken to." Khan told him, making Arcanine's eye twitch in anger. "Now then, Miss Riku," Khan said, turning his attention back to Rebecca. "Mind explaining your behavior at the airport?"
"Uh… Well um," Rebecca said, feeling very puny under the tiger's gaze. "The thing is …"
"… Yes?" Khan said, growing impatient.
"I wasn't told about … what you all would be … like." She carefully said.
"Oh?" Khan said, looking curious. "Care to elaborate?" He asked. It took a while. But Rebecca was able to lay out the details and Khan now understood. "So that's how it is? This is a most unusual case." He said. "Well, here's how it is. You were hired to be an intern at my company, correct?"
"Yes," Rebecca replied.
"Normally, all humans that get sent to our world are given strict information about us. And then it'll be their choice whether or not they can come here or not. For once they leave Earth behind, once they have entered our world, they can never go back." Khan told her. "So whoever hired you made a big mistake."
"W-what?" Rebecca said, feeling a lump swell in her throat. "You mean … I'm stuck here?"
"For the rest of your life, I'm afraid." Khan revealed to her. "I'm sorry about all this." He said, while keeping his stoic attitude. "I assure you, Miss, whoever did this to you will pay dearly." He growled and then turned to Arcanine. "I suggest you take Miss Riku to the authorities so she can give a proper description of the one who sent her here."
"You got it." Arcy replied.
Khan then turned his attention back to Rebecca, who was shaking and fighting back her tears. "I understand you must be very overwhelmed right now. So I will give you time to adjust to your current situation. But I won't keep your position as our new intern vacant forever. If you are unfit to work here, I will have to give it to someone else. You understand that, right?" He asked and she nodded, sniffling. "Good. You are dismissed."
When the two exit the office, Arcy was borderline fuming.
"What an asshole. I mean, I heard rumors that he was a piss ant. But come on." He said and looked over at Rebecca who was hanging her head as they walked. "Hey," He said with concern. "What do you say we check out your new place. Maybe settling in will help get your mind of off things." He suggested.
Rebecca wiped from tears from her eyes. "Uh, sure. Might as well get comfortable if I can't leave." She said. "But there's one thing I'm curious about. Khan in there said you were my guardian. What was that about?"
"Oh? You weren't informed about that either? I shouldn't be surprised." Arcy growled, looking to the side in anger, thinking about the person that tricked Rebecca. He then looked back at her and explained. "Well, see, every human here is assigned a guardian. Because, if we're being real here, you guys are totally helpless." He bluntly said, making Rebecca blink. "You're super weak, you can't outrun anything, you don't even have claws, fangs or even toxins or venom to defend yourselves with. Without your guns, you're as easy pickings as a litter of newborn rabbits."
"Hey," Rebecca said, glaring at him.
"Bottom line, in this world, humans are an easy target for outlaws who will take advantage of your weaknesses. Whether it be for food or human trafficking." Arcanine went on, which made Rebecca look frightened. "Don't worry. That crap is totally illegal and punishable by death. But there're still bold people in this world who will go after humans. That's why each human are given a guardian. Powerful beings who are expected to give their lives, if necessary, to protect the humans they are assigned to. And I'm your guardian. Which by the way, makes us roommates."
"Oh yeah," Rebecca replied. "At the very least, I was told I'd be bunking with someone. Just not what I was expecting.
"Well, let me take you to your new place then. I live in a house with two bedrooms. I used the other one a guest room. But you can have it now." Arcy said.
"That's very nice of you." Rebecca replied, giving a soft smile.
"Now come on. It's not that far from my place." Arcy said and continued escorting Rebecca out of the building.
Once they reached the bottom with elevator, Rebecca was amazed. "Wow. That elevator ride took forever."
"Well, we were at the 300th floor. Don't they have buildings that tall on Earth?" Arcy asked.
"No… The tallest building there is about 150 storage tall." Rebecca replied as they made their way outside. "So do we like … take a cab or do you have a car?"
"A car? Girl, I am your transportation." He told her and gestured her to get on. Which she was skeptical to do. "What?"
"I … haven't done horse backing since I was a little kid." She explained.
"Well, let's see what you remember. Hope on. I'm quicker than any car. Plus, it's totally free. No paying for gas, no taxes, no mechanics, repairs or maintenance." He said, sounding like a salesman.
"Well … how can I complain about that?" She jokingly said and went over to him. He squated down, making it easier for her to get on his back. Once she was secured on him, he stood back up.
"Hold on tight. I wasn't joking when I said I was fast." He instructed.
"Okay," She replied and took a firm grip on his mane.
"Just make sure you keep your mouth shut. Wouldn't wanna get a bug in your mouth." Arcanine told her. And then … they were of with a sprint.
"KYA!" Rebecca cried out, nearly falling of. But she clung on tightly on his mane. He had really not been joking. He was fast. Really, really, really fast. Like it almost felt like the wind was whipping her face. She clung onto Arcy so hard and shut her eyes and teeth, really hard, unable to watch where they were going. Luckily for her, the trip didn't take that far as they came to a halt. Rebecca however was still clinging onto him and had her eyes still shut tight.
"Rebecca … you can get of now." He told her.
"Eh?" She said, opening one eye and realized they had stopped. "Oh good." She said and climbed of off Arcy's back as he squated down. Rebecca looked around their surroundings. They were now in a suburb. And in the distance was the city. "What the-?! How did we get from the city all the way here so fast?!"
Arcy grins. "Hehe. I'm the faster thing on four legs." He boasted. "Now then, welcome to your new home." He said, gesturing to a house. It was pretty two storage building. However, the lawn was less desirable. Arcy had clearly let it grow wildly, heeding no attention or care to it. "Come. Your luggage is already inside." He said and lead her across the walkway to the front door. Once inside, Rebecca cringed at the sight and the smell. It was a total mess. There were empty pizza cartage and takeaway boxes everywhere, along with empty soda and beer cans. "Let me give you the grand tour." Arcy said with a big grin. "Here's the kitchen." He showed her, which had a big pile of dirty dishes. "And this is the living room." He showed her, which had just one couch and a flat screen TV. Said couch was covered in his fur, with garbage all over the floor. "And the laundry room." He showed, which was the only clean place in the house. "I never use this though, since I don't wear clothes. Now someone can finally put some use to it." He commented and continued on with the tour. "Here's the garage, which I have converted into my personal gym. No car after all." He said, showing of the many rusty weights spread around.
"Now for the second floor." He said, leading her upstairs. The staircase was a mess too, as Arcy walked over a bunch of garbage that knocked down the stairs."This is my room," He showed her, which had just one simple bed in it, covered in his fur, just like the couch. Yup, this whole house was nothing short of a bachelor living space. "And over here is your room." He said, leading her inside to her new sleeping place. Thankfully, this place was as untouched as the laundry room. It had a bed and a bedroom closet, as well as another door. "Like I said, this was a guestroom. It's almost never been used." He said. "And that door leads to the bathroom. Why won't you make it your private bathroom? I can use the one downstairs."
"Thanks. That's uh … very kind of you." Rebecca replied and went over to the window, which was as dirty as everything else in the building. "So uh … how often do you clean?"
"Clean?" Arcy asked, tilting his head confusion.
"Never mind," Rebecca replied, getting it now. Just then, her stomach growled.
"Oh shit. You must be really hungry. It's almost noon already and you probably missed breakfast." Arcy said. "I'll fire up the grill and make us a couple of juicy steaks." He offered and headed downstairs. "You can unpack in the meantime." He called.
Rebecca smiled slightly at him. "At least I'm being taken well cared of." She commented before she settled in. She set up her clothes in an organized fashion inside the closet. She placed a photo on the nightstand, which she stroked her fingers across on, looking sad.
She went downstairs and saw Arcy out in the backyard. There was a wooden deck out there, with a grill and a few outdoor furniture. But it was just as unkept as everything around here. Some weed was even growing out from between the planks. And the backyard itself was as big a mess as the front yard.
"Steaks should be done in like ten minutes." Arcy said. "Do you like yours rare?" He asked.
"Medium rare, please." She replied. "Uh… what'll we be having with them?"
"There's some beers in the fridge. You can bring them out once the steaks are done."
"No, I meant… are we having any vegetables? Salad? Potatoes?" She wondered.
"Vegetables?" Arcy asked, tilting his head. "You mean the food my food eats?"
"Right. You're a canine. Only meat on the menu." Rebecca commented.
"Don't tell me you're one of those weirdo vegans." Arcy groans.
"Not at all. I just like variety." She replied.
"Oh. Well, we could go grocery shopping after lunch and get whatever it is you like." Arcy suggested.
"Sounds good to me. But I don't have any money yet." Rebecca replied.
"Oh, don't worry about it. I'll pay for it." Arcy offered.
"I can't let you do that. You've done so much for me already."
"It's not a problem. Just make an IOU and you can pay me back after your first paycheck." Arcanine replied.
"Okay then." Rebecca replied. "In that case, can we get some other stuff I think we need?"
"Sure. What did you have in mind?"
About two hours later, the duo had returned from the store, filling the fridge and pantry with other foods, besides meat. Mostly though, Rebecca had gotten something she felt this house desperately needed. Cleaning equipment. She puts on a pair of newly bought rubber gloves and Arcy watched her, curiously. She began by throwing all the garbage into trash bags. In total, she filled up more than 20 bags. She then began dusting everything clean, then vacuum cleaning the floor, followed by mopping it. Next was the mountain of dishes, which took an hour to clean. She then started washing the windows. When that was done, she went back to the kitchen and began scrubbing the oven clean. Worst of all though was the downstairs bathroom, which is the one Arcanine uses. No need to go into details on the mess in there though… Once the house was clean, she still wasn't done. She went to work on the lawn. Luckily, Arcy did have a lawn mower. A moving in gift from his friends. Not that he ever used it. Well, now it was put into good use. Rebecca must've walked five laps at least before all the grass and weed was finally fully trimmed down. And then she began uprooting the weeds that the lawnmower couldn't reach. As well as some vines that were growing on the walls of the house. It was like clearing out a jungle. Luckily, Arcy decided to call in a wood chipper for it.
Three days passed, and the house was starting to feel more like a home. The lawn didn't look like a jungle anymore. Arcy had offered to help her. But she insisted on doing it herself. So he had just watched while zipping the occasional beer.
Rebecca collapsed on the chair in the kitchen, letting out a sigh. "Man, I'm thirsty."
"Well, I gotta say, this whole place is a lot more comfy when it's clean," Arcy said, looking around the room. "Although, now everything looks a bit empty."
"Have you ever thought about filling things out with more furniture? Maybe some paintings, rugs, shelves?" Rebecca suggested.
"I always was the kind of guy who only gets what you need," He replied. "But I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a little variety."
"Great," Rebecca said, smiling approvingly. "Well, I better get back to cleaning I guess." She said, getting back up and heading out of the kitchen.
"Clean what? Everything's done." Arcy told her.
"Oh?" She said, turning around to look at him. "Have I taken every room?"
"Including the cabinet closet." Arcy replied.
"Well, I could always do the window counters."
"They're spotless."
"Okay… Maybe the oven-"
"Is as clean as the day I moved here."
"… How about-"
"Rebecca," He interrupted her, "you've cleaned everything. You cleared the drainers even. You even cleaned the roof from all the moss. Even after you fell down five times. There's literally nothing left to be cleaned. We could put this house up for sale and it would look better than it did in the magazine when I first purchased it."
"… Oh … So there's really nothing left to do." She said, looking down as her facial expression turned into a sad smile.
"Yes. Rebecca, what's wrong?" He asked, looking worried about her.
"Nothing," She said as she swallowed a lump and tears welled up in her eyes. "There's just nothing left to do."
Arcy now understood what all this cleaning was really about. His expression soften as he felt sorry for her again. "Rebecca … come here." He said, holding out one of his front legs, offering her a hug. She walked over to him and he gently hugged her. She didn't hug him back. Instead, she sobbed softly into his fur. "I'm really sorry that this happened to you." He silently said while he lets her sob onto him.
Well, I hope you guys enjoyed it. This was just something I did for fun. Don't know if I'll continue it though. Just felt like doing it after reading Vivziepop's Zoophobia recently. I hope you guys can guess who the characters were. Have a good one.
