Author's Note: This story is inspired by the Season 3 finale of What If…? The main characters in this are Byrdie the Duck, Kahhori, and Storm. I hope you like it.
Chapter 1 - Goodbye Friend
Uatu, Byrdie, Kahhori, and Storm watched as Peggy Carter's glowing shield slowly dissolved, as it drifted away in the Observational Plane.
"Peggy Carter will always be remembered for her heroic sacrifice," said Uatu, with a sad smile on his face. "She was never afraid to take a stand against all evil and wrongdoing in the multiverse."
"Yeah..." sniffled Byrdie. There were tears falling from her eyes. "She had a brave heart."
"And she was a great leader," added Kahhori. Tears were falling from her eyes too. She clenched her fists. "I wish… I could've done something to stop Peggy from sacrificing herself. I didn't want it to be this way."
"Captain Carter wanted it to be this way," said Storm. Her eyes were closed for a moment. "We were her friends. She didn't want us to die in the fight against Eminence, Executioner, and Incarnate. So, she sacrificed herself."
Uatu nodded in agreement.
"Farewell Peggy," cried Byrdie.
"Goodbye friend," sobbed Kahhori.
Peggy Carter's shield was finally gone. There was a long moment of silence. Byrdie wrapped her arms around Uatu, Kahhori, and Storm for an emotional hug. Then, they stopped hugging.
"What will the three of you do now?" asked Uatu.
"Continue defeating villains and saving universes in the multiverse," answered Byrdie. "Right team?"
"Right," said Kahhori. "It's what Peggy would've wanted us to do."
"There's one problem… The ship was destroyed," pointed out Storm. "How will we travel through the multiverse without the ship?"
"All three of you can now use your new Watcher ability to travel through the multiverse," explained Uatu. "But, I have a better idea. Follow me."
