Looking at Guy, who was now full of spirit, Kakashi couldn't bear to interrupt him. But if he didn't intervene soon, he feared Guy would possibly forget Kakashi was there and run off to train on his own
Kakashi knew he had a week off, but he wouldn't be surprised if he got called to a mission regardless of what he was told. After all, there were always missions for anbu, and he could be summoned at any time.
Therefore, Kakashi decided to take the chance and interrupt Guy, who was brimming with enthusiasm.
"Guy, wait a minute."
Kakashi's loud call finally broke through Guy's focus.
"Ah, Kakashi, did you call me? What happened?"
Kakashi looked at Guy, feeling helpless. It was as if Guy had completely forgotten about him.
"I need to ask you for a favor," Kakashi began seriously. "I've been thinking about it for a while, and I want you to teach me the the eight inner gates jutsu."
Guy looked a little surprised. He hadn't expected Kakashi to ask for something so serious.
"The eight gates? Kakashi, the eight gates inner gates aren't something to take lightly. I've been training my body for years, and I can only open up to the sixth gate without extreme backlash. Even attempting to open more games than your body can handle will literally tear you apart, and even if your body can handle it, it is still extremely taxing on the body," Guy explained, his expression turning serious. "
"I know" Kakashi responded with a solemn look. "I understand how difficult and dangerous it is, but this is important to me." Kakashi's voice was firm, and unwavering eyes showed that he wasn't asking for this casually.
The Eight Gates technique was not only the strongest taijutsu in Naruto's world, but it was also one of the only ways to enhance and quickly train the body beyond what was possible for a ninja.
Kakashi already had an extremely strong yin chakra due to the soul merge, but for him to get to higher levels he'd have to strengthen his body to grow to new heights.
He wasn't asking for this out of pride. The inner gates are invaluable tool to fight enemies where external chakra like ninjutsu are basically worthless due to their ability to absorb chakra like kisame, preta path pain, the tentails jinchuriki, and the possible otsutsuki clan coming to earth.
Also, everything involving weapons would be enhanced, like the Hatake clan's sword techniques.
Considering all of this, learning the Eight Gates technique could be considered a necessity. Among all the shinobi in Konoha, Guy was the only one Kakashi knew who could teach it.
With their relationship, Kakashi was confident that Guy wouldn't turn him down. But this was still a big ask, one that had the potential to offend, especially since this technique could easily be considered a family jutsu. His father both created this jutsu and passed it on to him.
Guy's enthusiastic, kind, and competitive nature was the only thing preventing Kakashi from looking like a complete fool for asking such a request.
Seeing the seriousness on Kakashi's face, Guy immediately grinned, showing his bright white teeth.
"You really are my eternal rival! You've got the same kind of perseverance as me! Well then, from today on, we'll train our bodies to master the eight inner gates together!" Guy struck a youthful pose, full of energy.
Kakashi nodded, relieved. "Thank you, Guy. I really appreciate it."
"The only thing I ask is never to teach other this technique without my permission"
"You have my word as Konoha shinobi," said Kakashi with all seriousness.
"Kakashi, now I'll tell you about the eight inner gates jutsu."
"Okay," Kakashi replied, eager to learn. The strongest taijutsu that let Guy fight a sage of six path madara only equal grounds was no small matter.
"The Eight Gates technique has a total of eight gates. These gates exist to limit the flow of chakra in an individual's body. Ordinarily, people cannot use 100% of their body's full potential because the brain limits the flow to protect the body from overexertion. With training, an individual can remove these limiters, which is called 'opening' the gates. If all eight gates are opened, you gain terrifying strength, but it's also fatal. My father was able to fight against the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and kill four of them after opening his eighth gate, but he died shortly afterward."
Guy's tone grew somber as he recounted his father's sacrifice. Kakashi could see the sadness in his eyes.
Kakashi, understanding, stayed silent, offering a quiet but supportive presence.
Guy soon regained his vigor and continued. "The Eight Gates are composed of the Gate of Opening, Gate of Healing, Gate of Life, Gate of Pain, Gate of Limit, Gate of View, Gate of Wonder, and Gate of Death. As you open more gates, you gain access to more chakra and your physical strength and speed increase dramatically."
The Eight Inner Gates are a complex and dangerous system within a shinobi's body. These gates act as safety locks in the chakra pathways, regulating the natural flow of chakra and preventing the body from overexerting itself. Normally, these limits protect the body from harm, but by opening the gates, a shinobi can break free of these restraints and push their body far beyond its natural limits. However, the trade-off is severe—the greater the power unleashed, the more strain and damage it inflicts.
The first gate, the Gate of Opening, unlocks the muscles' full potential. It's like releasing a heavy weight from your body, instantly granting greater speed and strength. At this stage, the body remains relatively safe, as the strain is minimal. The second gate, the Gate of Rest, takes this a step further. By increasing the flow of chakra, the body gains an even bigger boost in physical performance. The strain begins to build, but it's still manageable.
The third gate, the Gate of Life, is where the real dangers begin. By forcing the heart to pump faster, this gate floods the muscles with blood and chakra, allowing the body to operate at an astonishing level of power. The increased blood flow turns the body red, a visual manifestation of the strain on the circulatory system. While the strength and speed are remarkable, the body begins to suffer damage as muscles stretch and tear under the pressure.
With the opening of the Gate of Pain, the fourth gate, the risks escalate. The body is no longer just straining—it's actively breaking down. Every movement causes pain as the muscles and joints are pushed to their breaking points. Yet, the resulting power and speed are unparalleled, making this stage a critical turning point for shinobi who rely on the gates in battle.
The fifth gate, the Gate of Closing, unleashes even more power, but at a significant cost. Muscles tear, chakra reserves deplete, and the body's natural defences against damage are overwhelmed. By this point, a shinobi's body is hurtling toward collapse, but the sheer strength gained can turn the tide of a battle.
The Gate of Joy, the sixth gate, takes this power to a near-divine level. The shinobi moves faster than most eyes can follow, their strikes delivering devastating force. Yet, the strain on the body becomes almost unbearable. The damage is rapid and extensive, each moment of movement threatening to render the body unusable.
The Gate of Shock, the seventh gate, makes the shinobi a destructive force of nature. Chakra floods the body without restriction, enabling attacks of unimaginable power. But this comes at a tremendous price: the muscles, organs, and chakra pathways begin to fail. At this stage, a shinobi is trading their life for an overwhelming display of strength.
The final gate, the Gate of Death, is the ultimate gamble. By opening this gate, the shinobi releases all of their body's chakra in one explosive burst of power. For a short time, they become stronger and faster than even the greatest of shinobi. However, the cost is absolute. The body's muscles disintegrate, organs shut down, and death is inevitable. This gate is opened only in the most desperate circumstances when a shinobi is prepared to sacrifice everything to achieve victory.
Some of the effects can be reduced through having a stronger body, but it is still a physically sacrificial taijutsu.
Kakashi listened intently, understanding the immense power and danger of the jutsu. At least after some practice, he would be able to use the first three gates without worrying about overloading his body.
With how much strain the eye normally puts on my body on top of my usual training I should be able to use the first three gates without any real concerns once they're mastered. With it, my strength should increase substantially.
"Kakashi, do you understand all of this?"
"I do," Kakashi said.
"You don't understand it? Okay, I'll go over it from the start again... What? You said you understand already?" Guy was shocked, clearly impressed. He couldn't believe Kakashi had grasped it all after hearing it just once.
When Guy's father first taught him, he hadn't understood anything and had to ask his father to repeat it over and over.
"I understand," Kakashi said calmly.
Guy's eyes welled with tears. "As expected of Kakashi! You're my eternal rival, after all!"
Kakashi smiled at that.
"Alright, now we can begin practicing the Eight Gates jutsu!"
"Okay," Kakashi said, excitement rising in his chest. He was about to learn the strongest taijutsu technique in Naruto's world.
