Things improved and Ashe was back to her old self, I wasn't going to lie I loved the cuddles, but I hated the circumstances. I wanted all of this to just be over, but I don't think I wanted Jaxon to leave. He was good for our family and the fact that Ashe was so quick to bond with him helped, I felt like he would be good in the future. I worried about her and the whole dating thing but if she had him that might help the circumstances. I know I am jumping to conclusions as she is only 3 nearly 4 but she is so smart. I feel like she will be outsmarting Oliver here soon. I wanted to have that looked at get ahead of the game, and I mean like see if she is smarter than the average 3-year-old. I was going to go look into it and the first step was talking to Ella. Sophie had left for school and Ashe was getting ready to go out with Jaxon, "would you mind taking Janna too, I have some errands" I said, "What do you think little lady can your sister crash our date?" he asked, "I guess so" she said with a bit of a pout, "I promise it will be just as fun" Jaxon said and she tried to put on a smile. I kissed her and Janna, I hope Jaxon could handle her meltdown if it were to come, we needed to work on her jealousy of her sister. I feel like she thinks Janna takes most of the attention and that was not true at all, but we would work on that later. For now, I headed to my in laws place, I was hoping Ella was at home.
I knocked on the door and Oliver opened it, "bad timing man" he said as he left, I could hear Ella and Carlie going at it, "CARLIE! this needs to stop, we need to know where you were yesterday" Ella said, "I don't know! I don't know!" she said and Carlie ran downstairs, I was expecting her to be dressed and going to school, but she was still in her pajamas. "Carlie we just want to help you" Ella said and Carlie just ignored her, "I can come back" I said, "Oh Josh no its fine, what is going on?" Ella asked, "I was just wondering how you found out Oliver was smarter than normal?" I asked, "well he became clingy and overly attached. He was withdrawn in school and disliked going, he was not being pushed or challenged. We took him to a therapist, and he told us his IQ was very high" she said. "I am thinking Ashe might be like that too" I said, "I can see it, she has her grandpa's genes but give it time Josh don't push her she has enough on her plate" Ella said, as we were talking Carlie snuck back upstairs. "Is Carlie, okay?" I asked, "who knows she won't talk to us. She went missing and won't talk to us" she said. "Maybe she will talk to me" I said running upstairs and knocking on her door, "Carlie you alright?" I asked her, "Fine" she said, "I disagree, what is going on?" I asked, "nothing I can handle it" she said, "Carlie, don't bottle this up I promise it stays between us if you tell me" I said to her, "I just I don't know what happened. I was walking home from school and next thing I know I am in some warehouse tied to a chair. I don't know how I got there, or why I was there. It took me a bit I managed to escape and make it home" she said bursting into tears. "Carlie this was not your fault, and same thing happened to Ashe. Someone is after our family! I am sorry you went through this but talk to your mom Carlie she can help" I said she hugged me, "thanks Josh, is Ashe, okay?" Carlie asked, "she is good, she has her big teddy bear" I said. "Who is that?" Carlie asked, "Jaxon her hero" I said and she smiled, I used to be that for her, but I was alright with him replacing me he would protect her better than I ever could.
I left knowing that Carlie would talk to her mom, but man we needed to figure out who was targeting our family, I knew that this PIGEON group or whatever were behind it but was it enough. I knew my Uncle Chase was on it too but like enough was enough, I hated that the kids were being targeted and for what reason? I decided to check out this warehouse that was mentioned but I found nothing just an empty warehouse it was like it was more used so that no one could be traced. I had nothing but I needed to get home, I wanted to be sure that my kids were safe and warm at home. I was making my way there, but it felt like I was being followed. I looked around but didn't see anything, this gave me Sadie vibes, but I knew she was in that hospital and not getting out. I was just being paranoid given everything that was happening. No one was following me, I made it home and found a letter on our doorstep, the way the letters said my name worried me. It was just my name written in very nice cursive writing, I was scared to pick it up, but I needed to know what it was all about. I bent over to pick it up and it was thicker than I expected, I had a feeling this was going to be from the threat. I was fully prepared for the same thing but I was in for a shock. I opened the letter and read it, this was something completely different and it was not the same threat that much I knew. Ashe and Janna were in even more trouble than I thought, and I had a feeling I was as well, Sophie was the only one not mentioned but that worried me the most. Who was this new threat? Do I show this to Jaxon or my uncle? I decided not to go inside just yet, this was huge, and I needed to figure it out before I decided what I was going to do.
