Chapter 6
Morning at the new class called Remedial Goodness 101.
The VK's were bored out of their minds.
"If someone hands you a crying baby, do you A) Curse it? B) Lock it in a tower? C) Give it a bottle? Or D) Carve out its heart?" Fairy Godmother looked curiously at the VKs. Evie seemed to pay attention while Lenora painted her nails green with her nail polish by her arm. Mal is busy drawing in her sketchbook. Jay and Carlos are at the other table.
Evie raised her hand to answer. "Evie." Fairy Godmother smiled.
"What was the second one?" Evie's response disappointed the headmistress, but perky up as she knows that children of villains need this class.
"Okay, anyone else?" Fairy Godmother looked around the room. "Anyone? Mal!" She smiled pointing at her which Mal looked up from her drawing.
"C) Give to bottle," Mal answered sitting up slightly.
"Very Good." Fairy Godmother praised.
Carlos said, "You are on fire, girl!"
Mal said, "Just pick the one that doesn't sound like any fun."
Lenora blows her nails. "Or find what sounded like a goody good would do." The demigoddess added her opinion.
They all smiled and ah about it.
What distracted their lesson appeared.
A shy girl with an ugly haircut came along with a boy with a purple strips uniform.
"Hello, my dear. Oh, and Mr. Rogers what a gentleman to escort my daughter to this class." The headmistress beamed and smiled at the boy.
Rogers?
Lenora looked up and saw the boy.
"Ah, yes, I need to sign off on early dismissal for the coronation. Everyone here remembers my daughter, Jane?"
Jane grew scared. "Mom, no!"
Fairy Godmother said, "It's okay. Jane, this is everyone."
Jane said, "Hi. That's okay, don't mind me. As you were." She quickly left, leaving her escort behind.
The mother ignored her daughter's fear and introduced the boy, "This here is Steve Jr. Rogers. Though we called him Stevie. You know, you may not know this, but I hope you're all secretly Captain America's fans because this here is his grandson!" The headmistress giggles like she is one of the fangirls.
Lenora paled. Oh Norms! Her father's enemy is here! And worst, he sent his grandson to finish the job!
Stevie smiled and nodded at them. Though he saw Lenora the daughter of Loki, when he heard that his grandfather's enemy's daughter would be there. A lot of Avengers members and SHEILD Agents were furious about it.
Which is why they sent their kids to this school before they came. Iron Man jokily called them, Junior Avengers.
Well, thanks to Stark that name stuck on them like permanent cement.
When he saw Lenora, he didn't see her well evil. Maybe because she looks like a normal teenager, and he was expecting Loki's daughter who is like an old hag. Something like Baba Yaga.
He remembered what he promised his grandpa.
'Now son, I know you heard stories from our battle against Loki, but I don't want you to disrespect his daughter because she is a lady. And where I come from, we treat ladies right no matter the circumstances. You understand, son?'
'Yeah, I promise, pop.'
He left the class and Lenora sighed in relief. Good, he's gone.
Fairy Godmother continues with her lesson. "Ahem. Let's continue. You find a vial of poison. Do you? A: put it in the king's wine? B: paint it on an apple? Or C: turn it over to the proper authorities?"
The boys started to wrestle and fight for the answer. Carlos said, "Oh! Ooh... get off."
Fairy Godmother said, "Jay."
Jay said, "C. You turn it over to the proper authorities."
Carlos said, "I was gonna say that."
Jay said, "But I said it first. Come here!" The wrestling continued.
"Ow!"
Jay said, "Come on, who said it first? Who said it first?"
Carlos yelled, "Ow! Stop! Ah!"
Lenora rolled her eyes at them.
Boys.
"Boys, boys!" Fairy Godmother yelled tapping her pointer on the podium at the front of the room. Jay and Carlos stopped fighting long enough to look at her. "I'm going to suggest using that energy on the Tourney Field."
Carlos said, "Oh, no. That's okay. Whatever that is, We'll... We'll pass."
Lenora smirked. Oh, she wants to see if Carlos will die, today.
Field practice
At the practice field, the Headmistress gave the boys a no-way-out situation.
On the field, the coach blew his whistle and yelled whatever orders he gave the boys.
Lenora decided to bring her companion, Snarl.
Yes, she named him Snarl.
No judgment.
Lenora sat on the bleachers to watch poor Carlos dying today.
She giggles at the boys' poor state of confusion. It is amusing to see something brutal and violent.
Coach Jenkins. "Jay, Ben, offense. Chad, you're defense. Taylor, you're the shooter."
Taylor yelled, "Right, coach!"
Coach Jenkins then turned to Carlos who was lost. "Hey. Hey! Hey, you. Lost boy! Put your helmet on. Get out of the kill zone! Come on."
Carlos asked, "Kill zone? Wha..."
Coach Jenkins said, "Pick it up. Put it on! Two hands."
Lenora decided to mess with Chad for an amount. She covered her mouth chanting a spell.
"Confundus."
Chad was pushed away from his ball and missed. It resulted in confusion on his part which Coach Jenkins whistled loudly, "Hey, Charming! Get your head in the game!"
Lenora smiled slyly.
"I saw that."
She turned to the voice.
A tall, thin, and handsome Caucasian teen with a delicate bone structure. His eyes are a light olive color with brown surrounding his pupils. He has dirty blond shoulder-length hair that he ties up into a man bun when painting. His school uniform is worn neatly, the only alteration being the school-colored hoodie that he wears underneath his blazer.
Oh yes, Stevie Rogers. Captain America's grandson and the golden boy here. Lenora looked at him cautiously. Snarl doesn't share her attitude.
Snarl sat in front of Stevie and offered his little puppy paw to shake. Stevie smiled, taking Snarl's paw in hand and shaking it.
Stevie sat next to her and spoke, "Now, don't get me wrong, but Chad's a jerk and he deserves it."
Lenora looked sideways and said, "You dislike him." That's odd. She assumed that they came from the good guys and, they would stick together against the villains.
"Yeah, because he is well…" He awkwardly scratched behind his neck.
"Ugh!" The sound of someone getting knocked on the ground brought them focused on the field.
As they were on the field, Jay was bumping through everyone, jumping high and low, hogging the ball all to himself. "Ahh!"
He even went after Carlos by accident. "Jay, It's me! It's Carlos! Wait, stop, Jay. Stop! No, no, no, no. No!"
Jay then made a field go like it was nothing. "Ahh! Oh, yeah! Come on, let's go! Oh! Whoo! Whoo, whoo! Oh! Oh!"
His teammates were all stunned. No one has ever done that before. "What just happened?"
"Who is this guy?"
Coach Jenkins called everyone in. He called for Jay. "You! Get over here! What do you call that? I call that raw talent. Come find me later. I'll show you something you haven't seen before. It's called a rule book. Welcome to the team, son." Then he turned to Carlos. "You ever thought about a band?"
Ouch, that hurt.
Ben stepped in to help out. "I'll work with him, coach."
Coach Jenkins said, "All right. Let's run that again."
All cheered, "Whoo!"
Jay said, "I'm rotten to the core."
He bumped Chad and he hit the ground hard. "Ow."
Lenora giggles in Chad hitting on the ground again. Stevie smiled at this. Though he was more focused on Lenora than the team tryouts.
Lenora went to her locker as Stevie decided to ask her things, despite never answering them. However, Stevie is determined to get to know her.
As a friend of course.
"Everyone expected me to join the army or at least train like my grandpa did in his time, but he does support me in becoming an artist. To be honest, I have no interest in army stuff." They reached her locker which is filled with Norse themes and symbols. "So, I am a talented artist like him, and I am more of a free-spirited than him. Yet he trained me hard to hold a shield. Not the shield, only a practice one."
Lenora said nothing, but Stevie added, "SHEILD is expecting me to become the next Captain America." That was his biggest secret which he hoped could get her to make a conversation with him.
That made her pause and then look at him. Stevie now has her full attention.
"But do you want to?" She questioned him.
Stevie heaved his breath within as his face looked troubled. Yeah, it is considered a big honor to carry on his grandfather's mantle and legacy.
But he is not sure if he is the material to be America's best soldier.
"I…" Whatever conversation he was about to make ended when Chad Charming complained to Prince Ben.
"Those kids are trouble."
Ben said, "Come on, Chad. Give them a chance."
Audrey said, "Oh. No offense, Bennybear, but you're just too trusting. Look, I know your mom fell in love with a big nasty beast who turned out to be a prince. But with my mom, the evil fairy was just the evil fairy. That girl's mother."
"Don't forget the daughter of Loki." A male voice made Lenora tense. Wait why is she tensing?
"Ullr is right," Audrey said then pointed it out. "His mother, Sif was a victim of her hair being cut out by Loki."
Oh Shit!
Lenora tried to gently and slowly close her locker silently. Then she will walk away slowly.
She could handle the Avengers brats, but the child of Sif. No way! Sif was very vendetta towards her father, and she knows it.
Now she could get away from it quick enough, but sadly fate was against her.
The door opened and out came Evie and Mal.
Ben said, "I think you're wrong about them. I'll see you later." Ben was about to leave but saw Mal, Evie and sadly, Lenora.
"Hey!"
Darn it! So close.
She closed her eyes and then turned away with a fake smile.
"Hello, Ben." Lenora nodded with her fake smile. Stevie looked back and saw how quickly she was almost gone but he saw her with the girls and Ben.
Stevie almost ran to ask her again.
But saw Ben talking to them. When he meant talking, he was looking at Mal. Mostly at Mal.
Ben asked, "How was your first day?"
Mal replied, "Super."
Evie giggles, "Enchanted."
Lenora answered, "No problem." She looked a little scared and wanted to run away as fast as she could.
Ben said, "You should really think about taking this talent off the locker and into art class. I could, uh, sign you up. What do you think?"
Mal said, "Way to take all the fun out of it."
Lenora hit Mal's shoulder lightly and gestured her head at Jane walking past them.
Mal saw Jane and pulled Lenora with her to follow her. Ben was a bit confused. "Huh."
Stevie then walked up to Ben and asked, "What was that about?"
Ben looked at Stevie and shrugged, "I have no idea."
Girls Bathroom
They opened the door and saw Jane in the sink.
The plan was simple, Get Jane and you access to the wand. Or in Lenora's case the stones.
Mal said, "Hi! It's Jane, right? Ah, always loved that name. Jane."
Jane said, "That's cool."
She started to leave but Mal stopped her. "Don't go! I guess I was just kind of hoping to make a friend. You probably have all the friends you need though, huh?"
Jane replied, "Hardly."
Mal asked, "Really? I mean, with your mom being a fairy godmother and headmistress. I mean, not to mention your own, um... personality."
Lenora added, "I recalled you must have a great personality for one young potential such as yourself."
"I'd rather be pretty; you guys have got great hair." Jane looked depressed. Lenora smirked at such weakness. Ohh, Hook, Line, Sinker!
"Well, Mal and I have just discussed what a perfect way to make friends feel beautiful, right Mal?" She looked at Mal and she thought the same thing. Mal smiled.
"Yes," She looked at Jane as she pulled out her mother's book, "Right. . . Here." She smiled as she found the right spelling.
"Beware," Mal began the magic.
"Forswear," Lenora spoke the next part.
Together they made the spell happen.
"Replace the old with brand new hair."
With a swish of the bow, Jane's head moved and soon she got new hair. "Oh, ah, ah!"
Mal smiled at their work and the plan was in their favor.
"Wow! You almost don't notice your... Other features anymore."
Jane looked at the mirror in amazement. "Do my nose!" She excitedly tapped her nose.
Lenora pouted sadly, "Oh we wished could, but sadly we lack the knowledge. You know, back on the Isle of Lost. We have no magic."
Mal then added, "I mean if we could, but sadly we are not on that level yet. You know, for big magic."
Lenora made Jane turn back to the mirror and make the bow into a beautiful braid with her hair. "We are still novices. And compared to your mother, she can make big magic far better than us."
Mal walked as they looked in the mirror. "Well not like your mom, with her wand." Mal continued with the plan. "I mean one swoosh from that thing, and you could probably have whatever features you wanted."
"She doesn't use the wand anymore. She believes the real magic is in the books. And not the spell books, regular books with history and stuff." Jane pointed out about her mother.
"Gasp, How ludicrous!" Lenora made a dramatic scandalized phase. As if she was about to faint. "What a terrible fate you must have bared alone."
Mal said, "What a rip."
Jane agreed. "Yeah." It wasn't fair, she wanted to be beautiful like Audrey or Ivy White, daughter of Snow White. She wanted everyone to see her like they do with those girls.
Lenora added, "I mean, she had helped Cinderella and looked at her now! Dressed in the most beautiful blue dress in the world! She even did an amazing job on her hair, makeup, and glass slippers to fit. Almost like a perfect picture of a mother helping her daughter to go the ball." She cooed at Jane with false sympathy.
Mal nodded, "Yeah, doesn't she love her daughter?"
"Of course she does, it's just tough love. Work on the inside not the outside. You know that sort of thing." Jane added looking down sadly. She didn't notice Mal and Lenora nodded at each other at the same time. Now to get to work their magic.
"That's the face! Yeah, and then just look as If your... your heart is about to break. "Oh, mother, I just don't understand why you can't make me beautiful, too." Mal pouted at her.
Jane looked at Mal, "You think that will work?"
Lenora smiled and said, "How else did Cinderella get herself dolled up? And managed to snatch up her prince at the ball? It was all your mother's magic to help her to be the star of the ball. All is done by your mother who just Bibbidi-bobbidi-booed the living daylights out of her."
"And, hey, If, your mom does decide to, you know, break out the old wand, invite us." Mal gestured to herself and Lenora as they both still fake smiles at Jane.
Jane said, "If I can convince Mom, you guys are so there."
Mal cheered. "Yay."
Lenora praised Jane, "Oh Jane you're the best."
Jane said, "Bye." Then she left
Mal and Lenora said, "Bye."
As she was gone, they looked back at each other with an evil smile.
"Oh Mal, is there nothing we cannot do." Lenora gave a mocking smile. Mal gave her a mocking bow then stepped forward with her fist motion. As Lenora does the same.
"We are rotten." Mal started.
"To the core." They spoke the same line as they fist-bumped together.
This time for sure they will succeed.
