It took about three weeks and weekends to even be able to start painting. The reason it was so fast was, there was ghosts doing it and there were so many of them that they could do a lot of shifts and at night. Also they could put a sound damping field and hologram to disguise how fast it was going. We decided to paint the inside of the decoy building and our personal rooms ourselves. Before that we bought the furniture together as Team Phantom. Then we hired people to move all the equipment and furniture. And to do the tiles and the rest of the painting.
Jazz went to get all the furniture and exercise equipment that everyone wanted for the bedrooms and the gym and office rooms ready to move. We were using her for the person that bought the stuff for Dan Knight and Mercury Drew so we couldn't be recognized, she is officially our secretary.
Anyway, all of Team Phantom were ready to start painting the rooms. We were all in our painting clothes, Sam was wearing pink sweatpants and a pink shirt her mother and father got her, Tucker was wearing gray sweatpants and a white tank top, Star was wearing an really oversized t shirt that had blood stains and black sweatpants, Jazz was wearing her old outfit from when she was younger, it was light blue pants and a long sleeve black blouse and I was wearing a white t shirt and black sweatpants.
I asked Star "What is with the blood stains?"
She said "I was at Keystone City and stopping by and I needed to go somewhere nice but Wally was going to show me a science experiment so I brought something to cover my dress, and I found him bleeding out. There was so much blood, lucky I stopped it and got hold of Uncle Barry so he could take care of everything. But yeah it never came out."
I said "Oh my, I am glad he is okay now."
Sam said, "Why did you not call the ambulance?"
Star must have been thinking oh crap. Before I could try to cover for her, even slightly Star said "Wally has a medical condition that causes him to need much more medicine or anything than the average human and no one would believe a child, so I called a grown-up to straighten it up."
"That makes sense."
After Star's great cover-up we started to get to work. We played Frank Sinatra and got to work. We played plastic down on the ground and since I was the fastest painter due to ghost powers I did the cream wall and the rest did the tan trim.
After a few minutes ear breaking noises started up. We all jumped until we realized it was just Tucker's abysmal singing.
Star said to me (we were both painting one of the offices) "Wow and I thought my singing was bad!"
I chuckled and said "I thought the same thing the first time I heard him sing."
After that we heard a squeal as we heard Sam said "Please for all things ghostly stop. Crap, I am becoming Danny."
I exclaimed with a mock hurt tone "I have amazing puns."
Star said "You are like Uncle Barry, you have too many puns for your own good."
I looked at her with a mock hurt expression and she laughed. Anyway we continued to paint until lunch time.
Then Tucker said "Guys, I am hungry. Do you guys want your usuals at Nasty Burger."
We all said yes and I went to get it since I could fly. Twenty minutes later I made it back. We ate and got back to finished all the decoy building over the rest of the weekend.
On the weekend of the 27-28th we did our rooms in the hideout. We all kind of parterened together, Sam and Tucker, Jazz and me and finally me and Star. I helped Jazz first finish it up, it took us about two hours. The reason it was so fast was due to going to college and having more free time she painted some of her room early.
Then me and Star got started in her room. We turned on the radio and this new song called Blurred Lines came on and as Star said
"The title sound like an excuse for rape."
She was proven right with the lyrics "I hate these blurred lines, I know you want it." After the song Star started ranting about just how disgusting the song was.
"How dare they make a disgusting song about justifying rape. On the radio nonetheless where young children can hear them justifying not wanting to keep it in their pants despite the response from the victim. Just like they say boys will be boys. 1 out of every 6 women has been either have been raped or someone attempted to along with 1 out of every 33 men. And knowing our society it is much worse because so many don't report it. And that doesn't even account for sexual harassment which is probably much higher."
I never really thought about how bad our society is concerning rape. The facts really make you think, our high school must be full of rape victims..
I replied to Star "Gosh I never thought how bad our society is at respecting no. No wonder that song made you angry. Thinking about it, it makes me angry too."
She smiled and said "I feel better now. Let's go paint."
Then she hugged me and I felt a blush coming on. We painted for a good amount of time. We were using the navy blue trim and she was on the ladder then the ladder started to tip. I flew up and caught her and said
"I have you, you can let go of the ladder."
She let go of the ladder and I lowered her down.
Star said "Thank you for catching me."
Just then Tucker walked in and said "Hey I am hungry, can you quickly go get Nasty Burger?"
"Sure."
I got back in about twenty minutes and we all sat around my room due to the lack of paint fumes. Anyway we finished up our lunch. Me and Star were walking to her room to start the bathroom and I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and it was Star blushing.
She asked me "Hey Danny, I have a crush on you. Do you also have one on me?"
My heart started beating fast. Flashes of memories came to me, when her hair shined golden under the sun, her telling me that I was Phantom, crying on her, her looking amazing going to court. I knew the answer.
"Yes I do. Do you want to be my girlfriend?"
"Yes, do you want to kiss?"
"Yes."
I leaned down and Star stood on her tiptoes. When our lips met I felt excitement and sparks and I think she did too based on her smile that I felt. Once we broke apart we were both sporting goofy smiles.
Star said "That was amazing!"
"Yep."
We finished the bathroom and started my room up. After a while we had almost all my room done and it was late. Sam called us and asked us to meet her in her room. When we walked in Sam's room she noticed our joined hands and remarked
"I guess the Lovebirds got together. Tucker, you owe me and Jazz both twenty dollars. I told you painting homes was romantic."
Tucker reluctantly handed over fourty dollars to both of them.
Me and Star said at the same time "You bet on when we would get together!"
They all looked at each other and Tucker answered "Of course we did. It makes our lives more interesting in a less of a "you could die way."
We both nodded and said "Fair."
Jazz said "Do you guys think we should go home and finish tomorrow?"
We all said "Yes!"
Me and Star flew home due to lack of space in Jazz's car. When we got home in a minute we both looked at each other and I asked
"Do you want to kiss goodnight?"
"Yes Danny!"
We both kissed in the air in front of her balcony. It was magical. I flew her down and we both said goodnight. When I fell asleep I still had a smile on my face.
