The Minecraft Story: The Beginning: Chapter 53
It's him. It really is him. Herobrine thought as he stared across the battlefield. Notch is here.
"Hehe," Herobrine giggled, "Heheheehe…hahahahaaa…HAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHHA!"
The nearby piglins, horrified by what they were seeing, slowly backed away.
"HAHAHAHAH, FINALLY!"
Herobrine jerked around and pointed at the piglins, "Release the creeper now! I want to see his reaction to this city being destroyed!"
Herobrine gritted his teeth and continued giggling as the piglins released the creeper.
My brother is finally here. He thought. Time for our little family reunion.
…
Marcus aimed the crossbow at the mutant zombie's remaining eye and fired.
BOOM!
The head bounced up and down as it was barely being held on. However, it quickly began to regenerate the neck.
"It's blinded again!" Notch yelled, "Go for the legs!"
"Franz!" Marcus yelled as he crawled to his brother, "Franz, are you okay!" Marcus shook him, "Franz!"
Franz coughed, "Good lord, can you stop screaming in my face?"
"Oh thank god," Marcus laughed, "You scared the shit outta me man." Marcus let out a long sigh of relief.
"Is that Notch fighting?" Franz asked while sitting up.
"Yeah…yeah it is," Marcus answered.
"Bout time," Franz laughed.
Notch leaped into the air to distract the beast from the knights below. It swung blindly in the air, desperate to hit Notch. However, Notch cut off the right hand in a fiery cut.
RROOOOAARR!
The knights ran under the beast, hacking and slicing at the legs. However, their iron swords couldn't do as much damage as diamonds. It stomped the ground, crushing two knights in the process. Three knights ran to the back of the knee and swung with all their might and they successfully tore the ligaments on the left leg.
Blood splattered all over the knights. Bits of burnt flesh rained down from the cauterized arm. The mutant zombie dropped down on its left knee. It lifted its left arm and began to swing it downward towards the knights. Notch quickly cut the left arm at the elbow.
Woah! Marcus thought. He's amazing. If only we had Notch on our side sooner.
Marcus noticed the wounds on the mutant zombie were regenerating much slower than before. His regeneration is slower now? Maybe it's because of all those wounds. He can't regenerate them all at one time, at least not nearly as fast.
Notch ran behind the mutant zombie and cut down the right leg at the hip joint. The mighty beast slowly toppled over on its side. It slammed into the ground hard. Marcus could see small cracks in the dirt where it fell, however, he also noticed one of its eyes had regenerated and it was staring right at him.
The eyes appeared to no longer show hatred like they did before. He saw the eyes of a wounded animal, desperate to survive. Marcus suddenly flashbacked to General Ausmin. The way the General looked at him was almost the exact way the mutant zombie was staring at him now. He saw a poor, pathetic animal, about to be put down.
SLICE!
Notch's blade came from above, like a blade of divine judgment had befallen the beast. The head rolled to the side and even when it stopped, it was still looking at Marcus.
Why do I feel bad? Marcus thought. It was a monster that has killed hundreds by now. No, I know why. Because that thing was created only to be a weapon of war for Herobrine. Just like the normal monsters, just like the pigmen. It lived a short, cruel life as a slave. I'm glad it finally got put out of its misery.
"THE ZOMBIE IS DEAD!" a knight called out to thunderous cheers. All the knights cheered and embraced each other. Some began to weep. However, Marcus noticed that Notch didn't cheer. He stared at the corpse of the mutant zombie with a sad expression.
He knows it too. Marcus thought.
"About time," Franz sighed as he laid back down on the blood stained, scorched grass.
"It's not over yet," Notch said to the brothers as he nodded his head behind them. Marcus looked back and could see the mutant creeper quickly approaching their position.
"Fuck me," said Franz.
"Here, you'll need this," Notch said while holding out Marcus's diamond sword to him.
"Thanks man," said Marcus as he grasped his sword and stood up, "Listen up! We're not done yet! That creeper is coming at us full tilt! We need to draw him to the river! If he explodes in the water, we'll be fine! If he explodes on land, we're all dead! Divert his attention, bring his ass straight towards us!"
…
Herobrine slowly walked behind the mutant creeper with his few remaining piglins. The creeper quickly ran further and further away from him.
"Go my child," said Herobrine, "Bring this city to its knees like they did to your brother." He couldn't help but grin ear to ear at the thought of fighting Notch.
Suddenly, an array of multi-colored fireworks began to go off near the mutant zombie's body. It lit up the night sky. The creeper quickly changed direction towards the fireworks.
He scoffed, "What are they trying to do? Minimize the damage to just the side of Redwater? Even if my child explodes near the side, it will still destroy the entire city. But, have it their way, it's not like they'll be around for much longer."
…
"We got its attention!" a knight yelled out.
"What do we do now sir?" another knight asked.
"We're not just gonna let it get this close right?" another knight yelled.
Marcus took a deep breath, "Hold your positions! This is the only way to take this thing out!"
Marcus could feel his hands trembling. He'd never faced the mutant creeper head on, but he knew all too well its destructive capabilities.
"You got this, right Notch? You know the plan?" Marcus whispered.
"Yeah, I got this," Notch answered as he walked off to position.
The mutant creeper continued crawling with its spider-like legs. They could hear the creature hissing at them.
Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud-THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD!
It was almost on top of them.
That's it, just a little...wait. Marcus thought. He could already see the creature begin to pulsate white. No, it's not in proper position yet. It started charging up early! How does it know to do that?
When the mutant creeper finally reached position, Marcus could tell it was too late. Notch leaped into the air and got ready to grab the neck.
No, it's too late. There's no way Notch can get it into the river in time. We lost!
Marcus held on tight to his sword, waiting for the blast, when he noticed something. Notch had ripped off his cape and wrapped it around the creeper's eyes. Suddenly, the charge slowed down.
It can't see us. Marcus thought. It slowed down because it can't see us.
Notch wrapped his arms around the neck of the creeper and suplexed it into the water.
SPLASH!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!
A giant wave rushed from the river and fell onto the knights and over the walls of Redwater. Marcus was swept off his feet and washed ten blocks from where he was standing. He coughed out water as he slowly stood back up. He looked to where the mutant creeper had exploded and found no damage to the surrounding area other than being wet.
That son of bitch did it! He thought.
Soon, he saw Notch pulling himself out of the river. Marucs's face lit up until he saw the head of the mutant creeper rise out of the middle of the river. Notch noticed it too and wasted no time in leaping onto the head and slicing it off.
"YEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!" Marcus screamed as he ran to Notch. Franz and the other knights also raced to the edge of the river where Notch held up the mutant creepers head. They all cheered as Notch threw the head to the ground.
Notch held his sword in the air, "Tonight…is a victory for humanity!"
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Everyone cheered.
Marcus ran to Franz and embraced his brother, "We did it! We really did it!"
"All thanks to your plan brother!" Franz yelled.
Notch ran over and embraced the brothers, "Your plan worked Marcus! We've done it! We've killed the mutant monsters!"
The knights circled the three, cheering and raising their swords in the air.
Marcus's ears were filled with nothing but cheering, and laughter, and clapping…slow…methodical clapping.
The clapping overpowered the cheering and everyone slowly stopped and turned to the source. Marcus, Franz, and Notch turned to see two glowing white eyes through the crowd. As the crowd dispersed, they saw him, Herobrine.
"I must say I am impressed," Herobrine calmly explained, "I didn't know a creeper's explosion could be weakened in water. It's sad to see your child pass away." Herobrine laughed. "But, just like a mother, I can always make another." Herobrine eyed Notch. "It's nice to see you again brother. It's been a long twelve-hundred years, we should catch up." Herobrine smiled.
Marcus was frozen in fear as well as Franz and the other knights. Even Notch appeared to be put off by Herobrine.
"What, no hug for me?" Herobrine laughed, "Or even a hello for your baby brother?" There was a silent pause before he spoke again, "Oh well. Ender! Come here child!"
Suddenly, a giant black monster appeared behind Herobrine in a purple haze. It stood twenty blocks high. It had four arms with giant hands on each one. The purple eyes stared down at the knights and at Marcus.
Marcus knew those eyes, it was just like the tall black creature that stood behind the tree at Fort Deepslate. Just as Marcus realized this, an army of the creatures appeared behind the giant one. Their glowing purple eyes stood like a wave of death staring at their next victims.
"I don't think you've been introduced to these guys yet, I call them endermen," said Herobrine, "I think you'll like them, they're quite fun. Ender, take your friends and go play with the townsfolk."
They were gone as quick as they appeared. All that was left in their place were tiny purple particles floating in the air. The screaming quickly erupted from Redwater.
