The Minecraft Story: The Beginning: Chapter 54
"Go help the townspeople!" Notch ordered, "I'll take care of him!"
"You heard the man, COME ONE!" Marcus screamed.
Notch raised his sword and rushed for Herobrine, taking one long swing for his neck.
Wooosh!
Herobrine ducked backward, watching the sword fly over his face. He smiled when I returned to standing, "Wow, right for the thro-"
Notch swung his sword again.
Woosh!
Woosh!
Woosh!
Woosh!
He couldn't land a hit on Herobrine as he continued dodging his attack without even unsheathing his own sword. Notch took one large swing upward and brought it down towards his brother.
CLING!
Herobrine unsheathed his sword and they made contact. Notch gritted his teeth and tried to push forward, but Herobrine wouldn't budge. He continued to smile, "Have you not been keeping up with sword practice?" He laughed, "Or are you just tired?"
Notch tried to kick Herobrine away, but he simply jumped away, "I have to say, I liked your cape. Too bad it's underwater now. Maybe I should get one of my own. What do you think, brother?"
Notch lunged at him again. He continued to miss his strikes as Herobrine dodged or parried. Herobrine's smile loosened a little, "Come on, this is the first time we've seen each other in over a thousand years and you have nothing to say to me?!" Herobrine kicked Notch in the stomach and sent him flying twelve blocks away.
Notch got up quickly and spat out a bit of blood. He stared daggers at Notch and yelled, "Shut the hell up you little brat! How about you just make this easy and run that sword through your heart!"
Herobrine smiled even more, "How about I run it through your balls."
"AAAAAAAHHHHHH" Notch screamed as he charged Herobrine again. Notch went in for a stab, but Herobrine stepped to the side and punched Notch. He fell to the ground. He looked up to see Herobrine unsheathing his sword and picking him up by the throat.
"I don't remember you being this bad at fighting," Herobrine said as he punched Notch again. Notch tried to swing his sword but he dodged again and was punched in the gate.
Woosh! Punch!
Woosh! Punch!
Woosh! Punch!
Woosh! Punch!
Woosh! Punch!
Every hit felt like Notch was being slammed onto the ground by the mutant zombie. Each hit caused his vision to blur even more. Finally, Notch went for another swing, only to be met by Herobrine catching his hand and stealing his sword. Notch looked down in confusion at his hand before Herobrine sent him flying in the air with another kick.
THUD!
Notch landed hard on the dirt. Somehow this hurt worse than when he was thrown through the window. He could barely see Herobrine when he opened his good eye. It was blurry, but he could see the glowing white eyes approaching with his enchanted golden sword.
"I forgot how beautiful this sword was," said Herobrine as he stroked the sword, "What happened to your eye? Was that my little zombie?" He giggled. Herobrine crouched down next to Notch as held up the sword. "Is that really all you had?"
"Go…to…hell," Notch spat toward Herobrine.
Herobrine wiped the spit off and said, "Nothing but rudeness, you should set a better example for your baby brother." He examined the sword and looked down to see Notch had closed his eye. "Oh don't be such a baby, I'm not going to kill you yet. That fight sucked. I want a proper rematch and even if you were in top shape, I wouldn't want to do it here."
"What are you even trying to accomplish here, besides destroying everything we built?" Notch asked with heavy breathing.
"That is not important right now," said Herobrine, "But what is important are the nighttime creatures coming to play." A swarm of monsters had been attracted by all the fighting and were walking across the battlefield over dead piglins and soldiers. "Here, you'll need this." Herobrine stabbed the sword into the dirt in front of Notch's head. "I'll tell you where to find me and then I think I'll be on my way."
Notch listened as Herobrine gave every detail of where he was hiding. When he was done, Herobrine placed his hand on Notch's shoulder. Herobrine took a deep breath and his hand glowed white like his eyes. Notch could feel himself slowly regaining strength as Herobrine got up, said goodbye, and walked off into the swarm.
Notch felt his wounds healing. His muscles began to regain strength. Every second the healing process quickened until finally, he was good as new. He sprang up and grabbed his sword. He desperately searched for Herobrine, but he was nowhere to be found.
Damn. He thought. The opportunity is gone.
His eye then fixated on the monsters who were almost on top of him. He grabbed his sword with two hands and cut down the first monster.
…
The flames at the gate had been doused when the mutant creeper exploded and sent water raining water raining down on it. They managed to get inside Redwater and what they saw was a massacre.
People were running all over the place. All they could hear was the screams of the dying. The endermen teleported all over the place, leaving their purple particles behind. Several civilians lay dead in the streets with part of their bodies consumed by a purple haze.
"Where's the big one?" Franz yelled.
"I don't know," Marcus answered, "Everyone, focus on saving as many people as you can! Kill every enderman you see! GO!"
The knights split up to cover more ground. Marcus and Franz ran together to find endermen. They turned the corner and saw an enderman clutching the head of a man. It appeared to be squeezing the mans skull and his eyes began to leek purple ooze.
"I got it!" Franz yelled as he pulled his bow back and fired. The enderman disappeared before the arrow could hit and the man fell to the ground. Marcus and Franz ran over to the man who was coughing up the purple ooze.
"We need to take him to the hospital," said Marcus. Suddenly, the mans body began to be consumed by purple streaks. He screamed in agony as it continued to spread. Marcus and Franz grabbed him and began to carry him to the hospital. The man jerked around, causing the brothers to drop him. They stared in horror as his limbs began to disappear in the purple haze. The man fell silent.
"What the hell is-," Franz said before he was punched by an enderman into a wall. Marcus jerked around just in time to dodge the second punch. He looked into the purple eyes. They were completely blank, devoid of any emotion.
The mouth contorted into a giant snarl. Its head grew double the size as its long jaws opened and screamed. Marcus tried to cover his ears, but the shriek wasn't muffled. It was almost as if the sound was coming from inside his head. He didn't have enough time to dodge the punch.
When he was hit, his vision became flooded with visions of purple streaks cascading throughout his eyesight. Everything now had a purple tint to them and streaks of purple would randomly pop up and disappear. He saw the enderman approaching, slowly walking his way. When it disappeared, he saw an arrow flying at his face.
CLINK!
The arrow bounced off the top of Marcus's helmet and onto the floor. He looked to see Franz had been the shooter.
"Shit, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I was trying to hit the enderman!" Franz said while running over to Marcus.
"It's okay man, it was an accident," said Marcus, "Just be more careful and don't bother shooting them anymore."
"Did you see the purple too?" Franz asked.
"I did, yeah," Marcus answered.
"Don't worry, it's starting to clear up for me," Franz assured.
"Okay…yeah…good," Marcus replied.
Franz suddenly looked up and pushed Marcus to the side. He managed to cut the arm off of the enderman before it could hit him.
Purple blood spilled onto the floor as the enderman shrieked. Once again, Marcus could hear it as if it was coming from his own brain. Franz took the opportunity to stab the chest and push the sword upward to cut the upper body in half.
"Holy shit man! I actually killed it!" Franz celebrated.
"Hell yeah man! Woo! Come on, give me some!" Marcus yelled as he lifted his hand up.
A second enderman suddenly appeared in front of Marcus and grabbed him. Marcus felt his whole body churn as he was teleported next to a building and slammed against a wall. He was then teleported to another building and slammed into another wall. And then he was teleported atop a building and slammed onto the ground.
The air had been completely knocked out of Marcus. Purple was skewering his vision again. All he could see was the enderman picking him up by the sides of his head and staring at him. It opened its mouth and the shrieking took over once again.
His vision slowly began to be completely overtaken by the purple as the enderman continued to shriek in his face. The purple glow in the eyes became more powerful every second as if being put into a trance.
These eyes…are they going to be the last thing I see? Marcus thought. My whole body hurts…but…I won't let this be the last thing I see. There's gotta be…what is that?
Marcus suddenly spotted something at the back of the endermans throat. It appeared to be a round, shiny ball. Marcus reached in and grabbed the ball. The shrieking suddenly ceased when he made contact with it. He tightened his grip and ripped it out of the endermans throat.
It suddenly dropped him onto the ground. Marcus watched as it writhed around on the ground. It clutched its throat as if it was being choked. It only squirmed for three seconds before it stopped moving.
Damn. Marcus thought. What is this thing? He stared at the ball. It kinda looks like a pearl. Heh, an ender pearl. But how did it die?
"MAAAARRRRCUUUUUUSSSS!" Marcus could finally hear Franz's screams from below the roof. He ran to the edge and saw Franz frantically running and searching.
"I'm okay!" Marcus called down.
"Woah! How'd you get up there?" Franz asked.
"It teleported me up here, I think," Marcus explained, "But then I ripped this thing out of its throat and it died." Marcus held up the ender pearl.
"What is that?" Franz asked.
"I don't know, some kind of pearl. Hear take a look while I come down," said Marcus. He threw the ender pearl down. Franz missed the catch and when the pearl hit the ground, Marcus was suddenly teleported to the ground.
"Woah woah woah woah woah!" Franz freaked out.
"What the hell!" Marcus yelled while stabilizing himself. He paused for a moment to process what had happened. "It teleported me…that pearl teleported me. That's it! That's how they teleport, because of the ender pearls!"
"And that's why the enderman died, because you ripped that out?" Franz asked.
"Yeah! We can use these things," said Marcus, "Check that other enderman for one."
Franz carved open the other enderman and lifted out a pearl.
"We need to get more of these, fast," said Marcus.
The brothers stared out into the ongoing carnage between the humans and enderman.
"Lets go to work, brother," said Franz.
"I'm glad you have my back, brother," Marcus smiled.
